He wasn't given the chance to respond here, I've seen him address alot in detail elsewhere. It's been a total game changer for me and I want everyone I care about to try it.

I am so disappointed in how they did Dr. Gundry and no longer a fan of this show. First of all, like they research and study medicine they should have read his book. The book explains it all and it is very interesting. My supervisor started the lectin-free diet over a month ago because she has fibromyalgia and a couple more health issues, and experience excruciating pain weekly during work hours. Finally, her doctor introduced her to the lectin-free diet five weeks ago, and in the 3rd week, she didn’t have any pains, dropped 20 pounds, and was taken off her medicines, and look and feel better. I struggle with inflammation, uterine fibroids, and have high blood pressure. I have only been doing the lectin-free diet for two weeks, and the swelling in my feet and ankles are gone, my blood pressure is regulated, my poop doesn’t have a smell, I have more energy, happier moods, and feel better.

The science can be found in The China Study by T Colin Campbell PhD, Forks Over Knives, or look up Dr. Caldwell, MD, Dr. John McDougall, MD, and Dr. Joel Furhman, MD. The facts is Steven Gundry is 100% ,correct . When wholegrain goodness was introduced diabetes went up 800% and heart disease went up also. These fact is something I have research for over 12 years and Steven Gundry isn't the only doctor thats coming up with this research and having great results with their patients when reducing the intake in their diet. Some Celebrities are using Steven Gundry as their doctor so his research must be showing some benefits. If anyone doesn't believe in his research they should do some more research. There is a lot of doctors that are coming out and admitting what they were taught was wrong and a lot of food we are told is healthy is not and by getting them out of your diet your problems go away. Even the Food pyramid is wrong. Most doctors would just put you on a drug for your problems when most of the time apart from injuries your problems are diet related.

Of course, many households had a pressure cooker even 70 years ago and some much longer. It's not a computer technology. It's a 350 years old invention!!! We used pressure cookers in, then, poor, agricultural Serbia before the WWII. For everybody's information: "In 1679, French physicist Denis Papin, better known for his studies on steam, invented the steam digester in an attempt to reduce the cooking time of food. His airtight cooker used steam pressure to raise the water's boiling point, thus cooking food more quickly." Also, it is a well-known fact that some people who have digestion problems, such as Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and/or leaky gut cannot eat beans at all. I believe that the only reason young(er) people can tolerate it better is that lectins gradually deteriorate our health and that it would be very advisable to be on the safe side and follow a few simple rules that Dr. Gundry suggests in his book. Is it so difficult to use a pressure cooker if you like beans so much?

@@corvoattano9303 I made sure to have every meal properly cooked. I've been eating oatmeal almost every morning (really easy on your gut). Then I've been eating a lot of raw onions and garlic together with my meals. Make also sure you're not eating too much in one sitting, let your gut process the food, and eat more often instead. Lentils are also my go-to legume.
Additionally, I never drink alcohol, I make sure my vitamin D and B12 are on a normal level through supplements; not sure if that has anything to do with it, but it doesn't hurt anyway to have that in check.
Hope it helps, just keep in mind that it can take many years. If you still have the same issues after several months of eating cooked food I would go to a professional nutritionist or similar and ask for help, possibly getting a SIBO and organic acid test if that's possible.

Cherie LaCroix the thing is, Dr Kahn is helping people prevent & reverse disease as well.
There's something to be said about all those long lived (& healthy) populations that eat legumes as a staple food (without the use of special kitchen appliances), who don't have anywhere near the same disease rates as us in the western world. They didn't traditionally eat a lot of fat or animal foods. The essentially ate diets rich in plant foods (with a majority of their total calories coming from unprocessed carbohydrates).

I agree that maybe it's not necessary for everyone to go lectin-free, but many people like me have gotten their health back with a reduced lectin diet. It seems this show threw the baby out with the bathwater and missed a great opportunity to help sick people who are desperate and could really benefit from the latest theories. I am sure that Dr Gundry's diet works and has a good anti-inflammatory effect judging from the amount of support he is receiving in these comments. But its the way he is marketing this to the public that is dangerous because there is not enough published research data in humans for him to make these broad encompassing statements. He should have marketed his plan as the Anti-inflammatory low lectin diet instead of KILLER LECTINS. Too me its sad that some people will now exclude legumes and all their benefits ( fiber, resistant starchs, calcium, iron, minerals, polyphenols, saponins, phytosterols) as a result of this data. Look at your animal product consumption people animal products have sulfur rich proteins which acidify your blood and reduce calcium in your bones. They are loaded with omega 6 fats which increase inflammatory disease directly, sat fat, cholesterol which drive heart disease, 0 fiber, CAFO special ingredients ( concentrated animal feeding operations) = GMO feed, steroids, poop from the animal in the meat, antibiotics, plastics)

whilst it is nice to see gundry actually be shut up for once in a debate, since all doctors are essentially the same in how they defend their ideas to the point of death, I have inflammation that is related to food. I get very red eyes and sore stomach and suspect arthritis. In my experience traditional doctors have been highly incompetent in telling me what I have and whenever I say something they always have a conflicting response i.e I tell them wheat makes me feel worse they tell me to eat shredded wheat/ cornflakes with milk. Yummy, yes. Does it make me feel healthy? Probably not. They offer me anti inflammatories and steroids. Does this help my body defend itself? Doctors are grossly overpaid and selfish just like everyone else in this god forsaken world. We should not place all of our faith in them. To become a doctor you simply have to defend a thesis which may or may not be correct. All throughout history medicine has more often than not made people worse, just look at the Victorian period which was not so long ago. The problem is that people are both stupid and selfish, a dangerous combination and me in my naivety still expects the best in everyone but am constantly let down.
So we need more research pumped into where it actually matters; how food interacts with the gut lining, the importance of the gut lining, its structure, turnover rate (supposedly 3 days), tregs in maintaining gut biome research, what plant chemicals may have an adverse effect on us. These seem all VERY reasonable topics to research and I bet a couple million would make this field develop in LEAPS AND BOUNDS. Instead, billions of research are being directed into black holes that get nowhere. I can't believe how stupid we are being simply because pig ignorant doctors like Kahn are just out to make money for their own agenda and so the rest of us suffer. As far as I am aware, research has proven that lectins bind to sugar receptors on the gut lining and cause damage. It makes me so frustrated that Tv adverts, supermarkets loaded with cereal boxes have all brainwashed us into an early grave just so a select few can make a buck and we all follow blindly this lifestyle. TO LIVE TODAY IS TO SUFFER!

I'm guessing to avoid lectin foods like cereals, milk, nightshades like tomatoes, peppers and and also legumes like beans and some nuts that are actually seeds which plants really don't want you to eat. I recommend you look up a list. There may be more chemicals than just lectins which have an adverse effect on us. It's these chemicals which evolved in plants to defend against insects and bacteria but supposedly also have an effect on our biology as well. Apparently if you pressure cook foods this destroys these harmful chemicals but I can neither confirm nor deny this as of this moment as I'm fairly new to the idea myself.

@@traceler BRO GO LOOK AT GUNDRYS PODCASTS HE GIVES MORE SOLID PROOF THAN ANY OF THE BIASED SCIENTIFIC PAPERS IN WHICH MOST ARE ALTERED ANYWAYS TO THE OUTCOME THE RESEARCHER WANTS. he has literally saved so many lives BY RESIGNING AS WORLD FAMOUS HEART SURGEON to try and fix the problem from the root rather than covering it up with more surgeries. this man is so admirable for that. he resigned being a heart surgeon because it went against his morals he said. thats more scientific proof than anyone will ever need. i don't see anyone saying "wow that other doctor changed my life with his advice" but i do see everyone who takes gundrys advice that it did change their life drastically. Dr. Gundry has made people with reoccurring heart disease that he'd treat with surgery, made their heart disease go away WHICH BTW IS UNHEARD OF IN EVERY MEDICAL BOOK YOU READ. (he even said that) heart disease is not supposed to be fixed yet he has somehow managed to do that with patients he has important things to share and it'd be wise to just open your mind to hear what he has to say.

Dr. Steven Gundry should've been given a chance to respond. I am a European who has noticed that corn and beans are cooked for a long time in a technically similar process to a pressure cooker and contrary to modern advice about not destroying ingredients in fresh foods. I like his theory and if he needs to make money from his work in a capitalist society then so be it. I cannot believe the hosts of this show allowed such a biased annoying commentary.

Modern medicine has always concluded that beans need to be well cooked. This is not new. The evidence that they need to be cooked in a pressure cooker is weak to zero. The evidence that tomato skin is poisonous is non existent.

With only listening to vegan doctors such as Kahn I would have never cured my digestive problems. There is always a second opinion, thought and perspective which should not be ignored. Grundy's advise helped me immensely whereas Kahn's did not. This is all that matters NOT something based on Epedimiology/Correlational research. Do your own experiment and find the truth.

With rates of obesity, type II diabetes, and metabolic syndrome at epidemic levels - all impacted by diet - it is a colossal failure of the health industry at large that we cannot arrive at the truth.

  • @ruraledition
    @ruraledition 6 лет назад +2

Yes we are individuals. I had no idea what lectin intolerance was. Now knowing, I've been able to make adjustments to my diet so that I feel better. No bloating, farting or inflammation. I'll cook my capsicums but tomato no matter how well I cook, smother me. I'll include a small amount of beans in soups because they are delicious, but they still cause bloating. And I'll only have lentil curry for Saturday lunch. I will never eat tomato, potatoes, lentil or beans for an evening meal. Infact, I've trained myself not to eat much of anything in the evening. I 100% support Dr Gundry and if I had never heard of lectin intolerance, I would never have known how to make those adjustments to my diet believing myself to be gluten and lactose intolerant when infact I am lectin intolerant. I only have A2 protein milk and I make my own yoghurt and cheese with it. I make my own sourdough bread with refined white flour that ferments for about a week. I can only eat sourdough bread comfortably and I eat white rice for lunch only. Dr Khan has obviously got a robust digestion system. But not everyone has. He should be open minded or he'll kill people. There is obviously a strong correlation between heart disease strokes and inflammation with Lectin intolerance. This should be considered a breakthrough and not debunked. Plenty of people die of diabetes type 2 and heart related disease. I would probably have been one of them if I had not known what the issue was with my health problems. I am not lactose or gluten intolerant. Just Lectin intolerant.

Almond milk high in lectin all the beans I was eating high in lectins. About two weeks after I change my diet I had severe flare-up of psoriatic arthritis in my right foot and my right pinky begin to swell and cause me arthritic pain. As a Mexican American, beans are a staple. But, there is an “old wives tale” that says, once a woman made her husband a cup of coffee from the 1st water boil from her bean pot. Her husband died after drinking the coffee. So we usually soak, add garlic cloves and or epazote to reduce gas’s. Could this be what Dr.Gundry is referencing? And an added note, most Cubans, Central and South Americans use pressure cooker for bean cooking. From my experience, not all beans are cooked the same way. Pinto beans cook with slow simmer yet black bean cook with constant boil.🤷🏻‍♀️

Joel Kahn is kind of a bully, interrupting and insulting. Western medicine certainly has its own troubles -- and conflicts and I don't appreciate the dismissive attitude even as I learn more about nutrition. Also, my son is allergic to legumes and he has a lot of allergies (and eczema and asthma) and I've come to believe that he is kind of like a canary in a coal mine because he cannot eat peanut butter, whole grain bread, and shellfish and maybe those things aren't so good for us after all, as delicious as they are.

if you follow the data you'd realize that for over the past 30+ years hardly NO Americans have followed the dietary recommendations. entire volumes have been written about this subject.
less than 3% of Americans meet the minimum of Fruits and vegetables and exercise
      .
and thats a pretty low bar considering the pathetic dietary allowances over the years with the food pyramid and my now plate and the minimum exercise being something like 30 min a few times a week.
numerous studies have been done on the subject (numbers vary but they are consistently over the 90% mark on average for non compliance ) over the past decades.
here's something more recent study :
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2937576/
the fact of the matter is most Americans eat trash.
another fact : beans are not a staple of the standard american diet the most commonly eaten vegetables and fruits are tomatoes in the form or ketchup, potatoes in the form of fatty fried french fries and greasy assed potatoes chips , wheat in the form of WHITE refined flour hamburger buns etc etc Americans dont eat much or any significant amounts of whole plant foods so I find it odd that
another study has been done Ill edit this comment and post when I find it but beer is one of our top 5 dietary antioxidant sources let that sink in...
