He cites studies on nicotinic acid, which is niacin (vitamin B3), not nicotine and barely present in cigarettes. It’s funny b/c we call it niacin today due to FDA thought people might confuse it with nicotine - history lessons even undergrads should know. His team might have known better lol
This guy is definitely hiding something, trying to make unsubstantiated claims. These absurd but hilarious claims, equivalent to saying "drinking cyanide is the best way to cure your cancer" and "eating grapes will make your d**k smaller" is really just a wtf.
It just sounds like dr. Grundy is just dangerous. The way he talks in the other clips with the people who don't challenge him, sounds as if he knows people are becoming less and less informed and he's praying upon it.
Smoking took my parents from me in my 20s due to cancer from smoking - they were in their 50s. I'm hurt and disgusted that a doctor would even try to promote smoking. Thank you Dr. Mike for standing up to that fool.
Thank you! I lost my dad to severe heart disease he was a multi pack a day smoker. It was incredibly hard to grow up and watch his devastating illness. The effects on a child are immeasurable. I am so sorry you lost your parents that way. Just wanted you to know you have many standing with you.
What a quack. My grandmother died from vascular dementia after years of suffering… she chainsmoked since she had been 16. Her daughter? Cardiopulmonary arrest at 56 from years of emphysema and CPOD from smoking. Her son? Lung Cancer at 49. My dad? Gave up smoking at 41 and is alive and well at 83!! If at this stage there’s anyone who condones smoking as some kind of medical panacea, and if that anyone is a “doctor”, RUN FORREST RUN!!!
My grandma on my mom's side chainsmoked for decades, and only quit when my maternal grandpa died of lung cancer. She lived to be 90 years old, though she did die to dementia, which she only started showing the symptoms of after a stroke she had earlier that year. She had the stroke in January 2021 and died December that same year.
Smoking has a medical use you know; shortens the time you have to be exposed to TikTok. All jokes aside, smoking does help IBS symptoms, but the benefit does not outweigh the risk.
@NikkiBudders it is both the habit (relaxing, taking some time off from others and things), but mostly chemical; it is bowel stimulating. A cig and a coffee in the morning was my routine, took me some time to adjust.
Imagine building a career on spouting misinformation, then sending a cease and desist when someone posts a video of you spouting misinformation (mostly).
Well, Gundry's got to make it look like he's fighting heroically against the "secret-keepers" like Dr. Mike. If he acted ethically, many of his followers would take that as a "sign of weakness."

Done it since I was 12 and once you're hooked you'll see that every morning it's one of the first things you look forward to. It doesn't matter how I'm feeling or doing in life, my body will crave the nicotine. The death rate is certainly a good reminder that we should eventually stop...
I love how when Dr. Mike asks how he is wrong, the other guy just says "You are wrong." without answering the question. It reminds me of when you ask a parent a question and they respond with "Cause I said so."
What's the opposite of a cease and desist? A public RUclips video saying "no thanks, but here it is again and in greater detail". Nice work Dr. Mike. Never back down.
My favorite part of all this is that now Dr Gundry's lawyers are claiming they never sent Dr Mike a Cease and desist. When pushed further about it by an outlet they later claimed the letter technically wasn't a cease and desist, it was just asking him to take the video down, and then lied about Dr Mike editing the clip even though he didn't...
There was more nuance to his point than him just saying, "smoking makes you live longer." He specifcally argued that it could make people live longer if they were intaking enough vitamin C with perhaps getting more of the right vitamins and minerals. Dr. Mike's video of what Dr. Gundry said was misleading.

Gundry may be a quack but he was really clear, smoking and tobacco were unhealthy, he kept trying to explain it was the nicotine that was helpful to the mitochondria. I don’t know if that is true, but the truth is that was the conservation. Dr Mike needed to show studies nicotine was bad for us, otherwise Dr Gundry walks around saying he was misrepresented, because he was very clear, smoking and tobacco was not healthy.
The problem is, and I don’t follow Gundry, Dr Mike didn’t prove him wrong yet. Dr Gundry was very clear, it was the nicotine that was helpful for the mitochondria, and said the smoking and the tobacco were unhealthy. Dr Mike in this video only should smoking and tobacco as unhealthy, so Mike just proved they agree. Dr Mike needed to refute nicotine was why smoking was bad. That Nicotine was unhealthy. He didnt show one study about nicotine, so Dr Gundry will still be walking around saying he is right.
@@hangtownranger The thing is that the statement he led with was that *smoking* could provide health benefits, not that nicotine acid consumed from smoking could provide health benefits. There are no actual studies behind their claims and it is all just alt health nonsense from guys like Gundry.
That's one clip from the whole thing, and as he said the whole podcast kept going back to the subject. On the other hand, the opposite argument is literally "the sky is pink and elephants fall from the sky," and offered no evidence, while there is a massive body of research dating to the early 19th Century that the sky is not pink and elephants do not fall from the sky. That even without controlling for income (as smokers have a higher median income and all the benefits of that money) smokers still die younger. Absurd claims do not merit good faith argument.
That isn't an argument, that's just contradiction! An argument’s a collective series of statements to establish a definite proposition. Argument’s an intellectual process. Contradiction’s just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says.
In my opinion, I think the worst part of that interview clip isn't that he holds this terrible opinion, but that he outright says "You're wrong" instead of saying "I disagree"
My mom, who smoked before I was born and most of my youth, quit off and on and finally gave them up for good when I was in my 20s. She didn't develop Parkinsons or dementia... because she developed lung cancer and died at age 62. My father, who also smoked as long as my mother, didn't develop Parkinsons or dementia... he had a triple bypass at age 36, dealt with numerous angioplasties and other procedures, and died at age 62 - a year before my mom - from pneumonia related to his existing health issues. And both of them had QUIT smoking over a decade before. It wasn't enough. Smoking kills. Period. It directly stole my mother from me. It was one of multiple factors that took my father.
My husbands aunt had the same situation. Cancer filled her entire body by 60, when we last saw her, she had a morphine drip in her neck, a stoma bag hanging off her abdomen, and a pack of cigarettes in her hand. In fairness to her, when it’s that far along, if it’s the one thing that brings you joy, I’m not going to police you. But that image honestly haunts me and even though I don’t smoke, I sure won’t be doing it now.
This is why I love Dr. Mike. Dr. Mike: "I was sent a cease and desist letter to remove Dr. Gundrys clip." Also Dr. Mike: "HERE'S THE CLIP! I'm gonna talk about it more, too!"
A Cease and Desist Letter from his law firm literally means nothing. If it was a Cease and Desist Order from the courts that's a different matter entirely.

'British doctors who smoke have a 30% less incidence of Parkinson's and dementia." "yeah, because they die of ten other diseases before hand." That clip was pure gold
On occasions like this I always like to quote my prof, that taught us to always question our assumptions of statistics and analyses: "The scientists clap and the fly flies away. They rip out its wings, clap again, and it stays. Conclusion: By ripping out the flies wings, it became deaf." This is literally the argument of Dr. Gurdry.
Isn't this? This was mainstream in the 70's when doctors, the supposed experts in the field, used to call 'smoking good for you'. Just like when "Doctor" Mike painted all the other doctors who spoke against c0v!d v@x's with facts. He called them nutters and was shilling hard. People have short memories, it's crazy.
My father died at the age of 37 to throat cancer (he used to smoke at least 20 cigarettes a day). So yeah, we could say he never developed dementia, Alzheimer's or Parkinson's thanks to smoking.
My dad was a little more older when he got throat cancer, but I can definitely attest to the fact that it is a _horrible_ way to die. But… he didn’t get dementia or Parkinson’s or heart disease, etc., etc., etc. He also didn’t get to see his grandchild grow up or walk his daughter down the aisle or see the Perseids one last time or get to say goodbye to his sons, etc., etc. But hey, he didn’t get Parkinson’s, right?
Gosh, I truly am afraid of some medical professionals. Not saying that all of them are bad but you have to be careful when selecting who you listen to. Crazy.
I mean, you should never fully trust a single source. Unless you look into both sides of an argument yourself, you should always take what others say with a grain of sault and assume it could be wrong. There's no such thing as an unbiased source. Even if I look into something myself, I always try to have the mindset that anything I'm reading could potentially be proven false.
Because those 'medical professionals' are just people who happened to get good grades and pass some exams. Psychopaths, nutjobs, everything is in that group - like any others. But I notice there are especially a lot of pathological narcissists.
That's not what the cease and desist is about. He isn't asking for the podcast to be removed or the information he said during it to be removed. The cease and desist is purely for the short which shows a small segment of the overall content in an out of context manner. In being out of context, the short makes it appear like that Doctor is recommending smoking which isn't the case, with Doctor Mike here acknowledging that this isn't the case. This is why the cease and desist has been made. The request isn't to stop Doctor Mike showing what he said during the interview, it's about stopping Doctor Mike taking what was said during the interview and displaying it in an out of context manner, as in doing so Doctor Mike created a misleading narrative that the other Doctor recommended smoking. While a fan of Doctor Mike myself, on this occasion, he is in the wrong, displaying the cease and desist as if it's a request for the misinformation to be hidden, when in truth it's a request for the false narrative - that this other Doctor recommends smoking - to be removed, through the removal of the short. The cease and desist was the correct course of action for the other Doctor to take here as he is being defamed by the negative impression the out of context short provides. (Note: The negative impression to the extent that would be defamatory is that of the short displaying the other Doctor as recommending smoking and has nothing to do with the misinformation provided by the other Doctor or any separate or additional negative impressions brought on from that misinformation).
Classic case of "correlation DOES NOT equal causation", the fact that a cardiothoracic surgeon can not distinguish this key difference is mind boggling!
@lastfreemen He clearly was referencing smoking cigarettes in this video AND in the podcast. If he felt misrepresented why continue with a smile? He knew what he was doing and you have been duped by big words. Congratulations.
Saying smoking lessens Parkinson's disease is like saying jumping out of planes without parachutes lessens cancer deaths. Yes, if you don't stop and realize that using a parachute lets you live long enough to possibly get a disease.

Imagine a doctor making false claims while knowingly on video that will be made public getting upset about his false claims being on video and being made public.
There is a contrarian side to humanity, which is a reason why conspiracy theories get popular. Some people like to think that they found some secret that most of society doesn't know about. imagine a physician indirectly incouraging people to harm themselves. because that's what Gundry did. isn't that against the Hippocratic oath? "I will use those dietary regimens which will benefit my patients according to my greatest ability and judgment, and I will do no harm or injustice to them. Neither will I administer a poison to anybody when asked to do so, _nor will I suggest such a course_ ." Cigarette smoke is confirmed to be basically a poison. Gundry is suggesting (indirectly, but still) to take it, through enticing towards a longer lifespan.
I find it hard to believe it's not on purpose either, because he does it all the time. Like at another point in the interview he says you "might as well be eating a Hershey's chocolate bar" if you're eating a bowl of grapes because the sugar content is the same, and when it gets pointed out that grapes have more nutritional value for the amount of sugar they contain than a Hershey's bar he starts trying to make chocolate seem healthy by talking about extra dark chocolate, ignoring that Hershey's is milk chocolate and ignoring the criticism that some people will take that to mean "I might as well eat the Hershey's bar over the bowl of grapes" he simply replied "Might as well..." before later conceding that milk chocolate is in fact worse than eating a bowl of grapes. Still didn't seem interested in changing the way he put that messaging out though.
The “they die of other diseases beforehand” was so real. Like- if you’re smoking, you’re probably going to end up dying before you have the time to get either of those if you do it enough.
Those who survive smoking all their lives long enough to be in the relevant age group for dementia patents probably have very good genes, otherwise they wouldn't have survived smoking all their lives. So that basically means that it's their genes that prevent them from getting dementia and all the other diseases, not the smoking.
Literally not how statistics work if they are done correctly. Smoking could help with parkinsons and dementia, other side effects don't matter to those stats but you are all too slow to use logic and understand numbers and reality.

That happens because riders not wearing a helmet died instantly, and thus were not going into the injury statistics. It’s the same effect. In statistics we call it survivorship bias.
I know this is supposed to be serious but I can’t help but laugh. “People who wear helmets have a higher chance of getting an injury!” “Yeah, cus people who don’t wear them die instantly.”

Dr. Mike, my 13-year-old son watches your channel and I am so very grateful that you are pushing back on medical misinformation because our kids are watching. I’ve enjoyed watching RUclips channel for number of years and this episode might be my favourite BECAUSE you are not being bullied or silenced by a quack. He’s trying to scare you with a cease and desist letter, because he’s a bully and doesn’t want to be held responsible for his own words. Thank you for standing up. We’ve got your back!
He's actually correct with the cease and desist. If you re-listen to the section of this video where Doctor Mike addresses the content of the cease and desist, it is solely about the fact that the short - being out of context - portrays the other Doctor as recommending smoking, which he doesn't. He isn't saying "I don't want to be held responsible for my own words" he is saying, "Your short paints me in a false narrative suggesting I endorse smoking which I don't, take it down as it's harmful to me" He isn't asking for the podcast to be removed, or for the specific section of misinformation he said during the podcast to be removed; he only wants the short that falsely portrays him as recommending smoking removed, and he is correct to do so. I'm not sure why Doctor Mike glosses over this and focuses on the factuality of the information given by the other Doctor, but the incorrect information that was given by the other Doctor has absolutely nothing to do with the cease and desist. Given the content of the cease and desist, it's not an attempt to bully, silence or scare Doctor Mike, but instead the correct legal response to a form of defamation caused by an out of context short creating a misleading and false narrative. It would be right for Doctor Mike to, in this instance, remove the short as it is defamatory.
I find it so ironic that some doctors, those who have taken an oath to do no harm, spread ridiculous misinformation like “smoking makes you like longer.” It makes me sick that people think this is ok. Dr Gundry also didn’t have a friendly debate between professionals, he turned into a toddler yelling “I’m right you’re wrong,” when someone dared to have a different opinion than him. Inexcusable behavior for a doctor, let alone an average person. Good on you Dr Mike for not standing for this BS!
I didn't watch the longer interview, but maybe what he's trying to say is that NICOTINE is what is good against Parkinson's and dementia, but the way it's administered is what will kill you. Wanted to add, satanicaries, that I agree with everything you've said but chose to tack my reply onto you because you're up top without dozens and dozens of replies. That cardiothoracic surgeon is nuts - he's giving himself so many future patients that he'll need to operate on for AAA and stents galore.
Just to clarify something, but the Hippocratic Oath which features the words "first do no harm" is actually not sworn by a lot of doctors - it depends on region and so on but a lot of the time there will be other codes that are sworn unto. Many doctors swear no such oath at all. The Hippocratic Oath is a stereotype a lot of the time, so it's not really a good example.
It must be considered malpractice already?! Anyone who knows the laws pretraining to the situation, please inform us because there needs to be some kind of change.
Great work on debunking the misinformation. It's important to keep in mind that correlation doesn't imply causation - even when it come to smoking and health related issues. Let's stick to reliable evidence and prioritize public health knowledge over personal gains.

One reason I love Dr. Mike is that he will constantly come and correct himself when new evidence is found, or even when he realizes he himself was wrong. He'll put himself on blast for incorrect info, and do his best to fix it. And if he doesn't understand a specific science, he'll bring in a specialized doctor for what he's talking about and make sure to listen to them since that's their area of expertise. Dr Gundry is one of those guys who will say something, have it come back and say "hey we changed our findings after 600+ studies" and double down on the original. And if he doesn't know a specific thing he'll pretend he does because he's "a Doctor and doctors are always right."
My dad died when I was only 20 years old. He’s been smoking cigarettes since he’s been 13 and died at the age of 62. He also ate junk food + didn’t move enough + stressed a lot. So sure there was a lot going on but cigarettes caused his COPD. He died of the last stages of COPD. It’s very sad because watching his struggle to breathe all the time was horrific. It’s extremely sad! Then my aunt died recently but lived to be 77 although she fought through a battle of COPD as well. The only thing that helped her case was probably less stress. She was a pretty optimistic person. Mind set does a lot for somebody but cigarettes is 100 percent horrible. I’ve never smoked them in my life. I don’t vape. I don’t smoke anything. I learned from watching my dad literally suffocate for years. It’s a scary way to slowly die. Don’t smoke.
He sent the C&D for some drama and to make himself a victim. Did he recommend smoking, no, did he not recommend smoking,... Dr. Mike, you are a pleasure. Truly appreciate the YT's you share, lots of great stuff! Thank you!

My personal evidence related to this is my grandfather. He had five brothers, all of them smoked. He was the only one who didn’t. He outlived all five of them. Did he have dementia? Yes. Did the others have dementia? Only one. But he also had lung cancer. The lung cancer got him first.
@@Pain53924 what’s fine lol? Also what conclusion would I draw from this that isn’t also supported by non-anecdotal evidence? Even cited in this very video?
Lung cancer patient here (of course a former smoker). I am pretty sure if I had not smoked I would still have a left lung. My last CT shows there may be problems with the right one. I am glad that your debate partner was not my thoracic surgeon!
Because Dr. Mike publicly embarrassed him by being correct. He didn't really provide any claims that are more legitimate than "trust me bro," and when called out, said nothing more than "you're wrong" without explaining WHY Dr. Mike was wrong.
He's mad because the short separates the context from the overall podcast, and without the context, it implies he recommends smoking, which Doctor Mike even acknowledges in this video that he doesn't. The cease and desist is purely about removing the out of context clip due to it painting the false narrative that he endorses smoking. It has nothing to do with the accuracy of the information. In fact, the cease and desist makes no request for the information to be taken down itself - as it doesn't ask for the podcast or any section of the podcast to be removed - it is entirely about the fact that the short - being out of context by nature, portrays this false narrative that he recommends smoking. It's got nothing to do with what he said, but rather, the fact Doctor Mike has portrayed him negatively through the shorts - and again the negative portrayal isn't about any negativity that comes his way for the misinformation, but rather the negativity and harm brought to him through him being portrayed as recommending smoking. He's right to be mad about that specific misleading portrayal and is also right to put in the cease and desist as a result of that specific portrayal.
@@kjono4611 It doesn't take anything out of context. Seems like he's just an angry little bully who's used to podcasters oohing and ahhing and acting like he's got some medical secret that 'the establishment doesn't want you to know'.

Hi, I wanted to tell about the book of Alan Carr "the easy way to stop smoking " it helped me to stop smoking, I could never achieve it before, I am 6month free and frankly I don't think about it any longer, that book is a true miracle.😊
I understand the worst case scenario might be- you love smoking and you don't want to quit. However, I just want to tell you from a medical professional and stranger on the internet. You deserve better in life than to be a smoker. I encourage you to quit. I know if you want to you can do it
@@personincognito3989I don’t know a single smoker who loves smoking. At least not the older people around me who do it. They hate it actually, but they just can’t kick it.
I know that smoking isnt easy to quit. Well, not me myself personally, but my Dad. He quit even though he goes through a lot of stress making sure his household is taken care of, taking care of his daughters (myself too), two of which are on the autism spectrum, one of whom is on the low end of the spectrum (meaning she needs extra care), and doing all that he can, all this for the past decade as a single father (long story, and we have had help too and my mom is back in my life too). My Dad has tried to quit a few times, and although he has failed a few times to quit, he finally did. He still sometimes craves to smoke, but he still hasnt smoked any cigarettes for a couple of years now. Even around some on my family and family friends who still smoked cigarettes (I dont know how many except my mom and a good family friend who unfornately passed in 2020 from a seizure, a story in of itself), he still doesnt smoke. And he reached his 50's too! I don't mean to make this post about me, I'm sorry if I did. But all this to say: If my Dad who works in maintaing a household in a higher difficulty level can quit smoking, even with some relapse, you can to! And yeah, relapse is a possibility, but don't beat yourself up over it if you do. It is a process, and sometimes you stop once and for all, and sometimes you trip up along the way. But you can do it, I believe in you, trust the process!👍
I don't regret smoking because I unfortunately enjoy it. I regret starting. I know it's bad for my health, I'm not in denial. However I genuinely struggle to see my life without cigarettes but at the same time I wish I didn't smoke. It's tough, a lot tougher than people think.
He hasn't even done studies on any of it. He just cherry picks parts of studies to support his claims even if they don't directly support by taking only the good parts of the study but ignoring the rest of it.

My dad smoked and suffered with copd in his last years. Even if you don’t get cancer (which my mom did), other diseases can really reduce your quality of life. Thank you, Dr. Mike, for standing up for science and peoples best interest.
My MIL was a heavy smoker all her life and was diagnosed with CPOD in the early 2000s. Hubby and I just watched her slowly loose the ability to move about and be active as she was due to the condition. She passed away several years ago suddenly due to a stroke. We found out after the fact she also had a brain tumor. My condolences for your Dad! Hugs!
My condolences for your father. My mother also developed COPD from smoking and died at 69 after many years of suffering. It's sadly ironic that a friend lost her husband in his 30s to lung cancer when he had never smoked. He was also young enough that he didn't grow up with everyone smoking around him like I did.
As a smoker with no current intention of stopping, I think it is disgusting for anyone, let alone a medical professional, to even hint that smoking could have a net positive effect! Thankyou Dr Mike

friend of mine is a cardio thoracic surgeon at one of the most prestigious hospitals in the country and he sure saves lives every day, but he once said "this is a braindead job, basically just a plumber, don't take health advice from us, we are first and foremost craftsmen, not thinkers"
That is someone who is very self aware. I deal with clients every day where their drs can’t advise them on self care, and they are left wondering what to do. And yet everywhere we are told “ask your dr” They don’t know. And they don’t care, they stopped caring when the interest on their loans kicked in.

My grandma on my mom's side chainsmoked for decades, and only quit when my maternal grandpa died of lung cancer.

Imagine a doctor making false claims while knowingly on video that will be made public getting upset about his false claims being on video and being made public.
There is a contrarian side to humanity, which is a reason why conspiracy theories get popular. Some people like to think that they found some secret that most of society doesn't know about. It's a powerful feeling. But pair this up with social media and internet, and it's poison. But where there is audience, there is money to be made. And thus the books promoting it. It's cornering a market.
So politicians and priests can and doctors can´t?
@@PROVOCATEURSK No, because when doctors do it is more dangerous than when politicians and priests do. Not that is good when pol and pri do it, but when a doc does its worse
Always take a cause and effect and consider the reverse. If people who smoke are less likely to have Parkinsons, then maybe an indicator for Parkinsons is inherent in something about not smoking.

"I will use those dietary regimens which will benefit my patients according to my greatest ability and judgment, and I will do no harm or injustice to them. Neither will I administer a poison to anybody when asked to do so, _nor will I suggest such a course_ ."
Cigarette smoke is confirmed to be basically a poison.

He isn't saying "I don't want to be held responsible for my own words" he is saying, "Your short paints me in a false narrative suggesting I endorse smoking which I don't, take it down as it's harmful to me"
He isn't asking for the podcast to be removed, or for the specific section of misinformation he said during the podcast to be removed; he only wants the short that falsely portrays him as recommending smoking removed, and he is correct to do so.
@@kjono4611 It's not 'out of context' , Dr. 'Smoking helps you live longer' is just a bully who can't handle people disagreeing with him.
Thank you Dr.Mike ❤

Gundry "doesn't recommend smoking", but yells "You're wrong!" when you tell him smoking causes multiple health issues. He can't have it both ways.
Which is why I will never listen to a thing Gundry says.
💯 Agree
The world needs more individuals like Dr. Mike who has the courage to speak the truth.
Lung cancer patient here (of course a former smoker). I am pretty sure if I had not smoked I would still have a left lung. My last CT shows there may be problems with the right one. I am glad that your debate partner was not my thoracic surgeon!
Why is HE mad? He’s the one who said it!
Cause he tried to play smart but forgot about internet power prolly due to doing that all the time since he was young. Boomers
People like this are egomaniacs. It explains everything they do.
Doctor Mike, I am a public health doctor in Romania. I wish there were more people like you, educating the population on health topics and fighting misinformation on the main platforms they are spread. Much respect for what you are doing. Keep up the good work!
So do you really think smoking increases lifespan?
Grew up there and got bronchitis at 3-4 years old due to a neighbor in the next apartment that smoked.... and everywhere you went there were smokers 🤢 I wish Romanians would quit this disgusting habit
@@mockingbird1944 I'm sorry to hear that, bruv. I'm smoking one for you, rn!
@@thesniperman You're not the brightest, are you? What part of ''Doctor mike, I wish there were more people like you'' tells you ''he obviously thinks smoking is healthy''.
@@sirnunyabuiz6529 he asked cause the person said they are a “public health doctor”. He is asking his opinion on the subject
Gundry is a shock doc. He constantly makes wild statements
Im unfortunately a smoker myself (and Not a DR. LOL) and I would never delude myself into thinking that smoking was anything but Horrible for my health. What a mess , and how dangerous for a Dr. to say those things to anyone, let alone in such a massively public way! Too many young people cling to statements like that and thats so dangerous. Thank you Dr. Mike for refusing to back down and allow these statements to run rampant and unchecked!
But all this to say:
If my Dad who works in maintaing a household in a higher difficulty level can quit smoking, even with some relapse, you can to!
The fact that he is a real doctor and actually studied the effects of smoking…just makes it worse 😒
He hasn't even done studies on any of it. He just cherry picks parts of studies to support his claims even if they don't directly support by taking only the good parts of the study but ignoring the rest of it.
It's sociopathic behavior on the part of Gundry. He's profiting by causing suffering.
I’ve encountered Gundry before. I remember him as a salesman, not a public informer
Psychrist are even worse then him
Trust me I seen some.
Also his voice is unbrable
Ducking smug unbrable😂
Oh…like nails on a chalkboard…except in its human incarnation
"How dare you post a clip of things I said into a hot mic in front of a camera on a podcast where I knew anything and everything I said could potentially end up on the internet!!"
I love the way you work through these issues with good research and statistical processes. Thank you
Even is smoking INCREASED my life span, I still wouldn't do it. There is no quality of life in smelling like a ashtray 24/7
Oddly enough, smokers smell much worse than ashtrays… I think it’s the necrotic tissues in their lungs and the buildup of tar. 🤢
@@darkwinter6028combime it with coffee breath and you've got the worst smell ever
i don't know how any smokers - tobacco or marijuana - can stand the smell. if i walk past someone smoking tobacco, i feel like i'm trapped in a 5-alarm warehouse fire. and if you've smoked pot anytime in the last 12 hours, bet i can smell your skunk ass from across the parking lot. who wants to walk around reeking of roadkill?
Thankyou Dr Mike
live your life the way you want but can i ask why knowing the effects you still continue?
@@chuunwtf Because tomorrows problems are for tomorrow-me to worry about, and I hate that guy!
@@chuunwtf Honestly, the only answer I can give is that everyone has a vice. I’ve made a lot of questionable choices in terms of drugs and also just in general during my time. I’ve always come back to just wanting to smoke - doesn’t matter what it is, just wanting the sensation of inhaling and exhaling
@@bp491 Appreciate your honesty on the topic! I agree with your vice theory, and can admit I haven't made perfect decisions my entire adult life. We're still human.
@@chuunwtfWhy do people drink alcohol and soda, eat fast and ultra-processed food, drive fast, scroll on their phones for hours?
People do stuff they want to do, especially if it makes them feel good.
I’m not endorsing smoking whatsoever. But it’s weird how smokers get treated in our society compared to drinkers, obese over-eaters, etc.
0:25 he probably smoked too much
That’s crazyyyyy 💀✋
I would not be surprised if this guy received “generous donations” by certain corporate entities.
First thought that crossed my mind
Probably owns stock.
Exactly except I THOUGHT that sort of thing happening concerning cigarettes was long gone by now. NEXT UP: Battle against RoundUp / glyphosate... soon we will view that chemical (and the food that allows it; non-organic food) as "obviously harmful" too, although that "still has controversy" because the selling corporations haven't gotten 100% defeated yet. But it's getting worked on.
I just mentioned that in my comment. Makes you wonder.
"Despite all this, my battle against misinformation lives on." that's why am following u doc. Mike. Luv u
friend of mine is a cardio thoracic surgeon at one of the most prestigious hospitals in the country and he sure saves lives every day, but he once said "this is a braindead job, basically just a plumber, don't take health advice from us, we are first and foremost craftsmen, not thinkers"
That is someone who is very self aware.
I deal with clients every day where their drs can’t advise them on self care, and they are left wondering what to do.
And yet everywhere we are told “ask your dr” They don’t know. And they don’t care, they stopped caring when the interest on their loans kicked in.
So ONE surgeon says this and u are implying it relates to all cardiothoracic surgeons? That's asinine.
@@warrensaint so arugementative for no reason. he was simply stating that just because someone is a cardiothoracic surgeon, doesnt mean they are always qualified to give the best health advice. please calm down
Or as my chief of medicine aunt said about plans to create a
Health advocacy initiative spearheaded by surgeons "They can barely be trusted to talk to their own patients. Whose idea was it to put them in charge of public speaking?"
The reason most doctors specialize in surgery is that is the only way they can become doctors. They weren't able to pass the classes required to practice medicine but they are good with their hands. He's right, surgeons are mechanics that work on human bodies, but unlike a car mechanic they are unable to diagnose what is wrong only repair it.
This is why we respect and admire you, Doctor Mike. Please keep fighting against medical misinformation. 👏
