    Olive oil is a staple of the Mediterranean diet and is packed with beneficial compounds. It is high in polyphenols which help promote mitochondrial health. The key to finding high-quality olive oil is to look for cold-pressed, extra virgin varieties with a pressing date. To get the most out of olive oil, it should be stored in a dark, cool place and used sparingly. Trader Joe's and Costco are great places to find high-quality olive oil. With its numerous benefits, adding olive oil to your diet can be a great way to promote good health.

This guy’s voice is a wonderful tempo for me. I’m here at 4 AM with insomnia and I feel noticeably calmer just having it in the background. Anyway, sorry for the life story! 0:30: 🥦 Olive oil is incredibly high in polyphenols, which are key for promoting mitochondrial health.
    3:51: 🥦 Olive oil has multiple health benefits and is associated with improved memory and longevity.
    6:51: 🥗 Olive oil has a low smoke point but is not bad for cooking, and should be poured on food instead of just used for cooking.
    10:18: 🌿 A good quality olive oil should be stored in a dark colored bottle away from sunlight, and it should be first cold press and extra virgin.
    13:57: 🌿 Olive oil should be consumed within a few months of opening, and it is beneficial for health due to its high polyphenol content.

    I have been taking olive oil (2 tablespoons in the evening) for two weeks now. I am skeptical of trying stuff like this, but I figured what could be the harm. What amazed me is the benefits were evident on the very first night. My heart rate during sleep dropped 10 bpm the first night, and that effect has persisted since. My diabetes is under better control (CGM shows that the glucose spikes have significantly diminished) and I am beginning to see improvement in the brain fog that has plagued me since COVID.

    I live in the the south of Italy, over 25 years, and I cook with EVO daily. My olive oil never smokes, ever. I cook on a gas stove with a very low flame to brown my garlic (aglio)and peperoncini (red pepper). I’m now almost exclusively using EVO from the province of Bari in Puglia. That area provides the harsh dry conditions to produce high polyphenols with that peppery spicy after taste. I buy it by the case usually and sometimes go to the olive orchards for a nice outing in October and November when they are harvesting it. But, it is easily found in our supermarkets too.

The best advice I can give is to look on the back of the bottle to see what province in Italy, “BA” is Bari in Puglia. Any EVO oil from that region should be good, espresso if it has “robosto”, or “frutoso”.

I buy olive oil in 3 liter (sometimes even 5 liter) metal containers and I consume it in about 4-6 weeks after opening. I have never observed any strange changes in taste, smell or colour of the oil after 4-6 weeks. My extra virgin olive oil is never older than 1 year.

The participants did not have pre-existing cardiovascular disease at the beginning of the trial, as the study aimed to assess the effects of a Mediterranean diet supplemented with extra-virgin olive oil or nuts on the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease in individuals at high cardiovascular risk. I have had two widow maker heart attacks so the accuracy of this information is important to me. I hope someone responds to this inquiry as I would really like to find out which is true, thanks.

    • @tonymars1093
      @tonymars1093 9 месяцев назад

      @jeffpickers4141
      Yes olive oil does oxidize. Once it is opened the oxidation process begins. It has about a two month shelf life after it is opened. As Dr Gundry stated keep it in a dark place like a cabinet and not on the counter. It will last longer. Do not buy the economy sized bottles so you can finish it within 2 months. I recommend buying his own brand from his website and using it to take a shot of every day (it has about 30 times the polyphenols as other types and then buy the best you can find for cooking based on his recommendations in this video. If you can afford to buy just his then do that but it is expensive. Worth it but expensive.
