The one from Africa is actually from North Africa, where an old and beautiful country named Tunisia is located, a couple of hundred miles away from Europe. That land has thousands of years of old, rich tradition of producing olive oil since the Roman Empire and even before, just like the regions around the Mediterranean Sea.
I believe they say that Tunisian is amongst the best. Highest in polyphenols, antioxidants, etc. The harsher climate stresses the plants more and makes them produce more of these compounds in return. Which just happens to be the stuffs that are good for us
The name of that olive oil from Tunisia is Terra Delyssa . It sold in my local grocery store in Virginia for 10 dollars , on sale 4 months ago , when it first appeared on the shelf. Carapelli is one of the more expensive brands here in Italy typically at or near the top of rankings though not as good as some of the smaller local oils that are rarely exported. My favourite is from Tre Colonne in Giovinazzo just north of Bari in Puglia. Lord knows how many prizes they have won over the years. There are also some very good lighter and more peppery oils from the area of Tuscia (NOT Tuscany) north west of Rome where I live, made from the Canino olive - which is generally well regarded and growing in popularity. Carapelli of course has a gorgeous bottle.

I am so happy I came across your channel today. Thank you for all this information. I have been using the brand from Africa for years, however, after watching your very interesting video, I will try DOPs & IGPs as well. Again, thank you for such an informative video.
Fortunately enough, i bought the cold pressed olive oil in a dark glass bottle intuitively before watching your video...thankyou btw 🙏 One think came to me during your video though which was remembering how the old school European folk's naturally prefer to buy in bulk as they have big families more often than not as we know, so they naturally cook a lot more than regular families, which brings me to the question of the large tins of extra virgin olive oil that even many restaurants use also. How do they fair in tins, is it better, worse or no different to glass ?
We started buying quality olive oil and noticed a difference. Pressed and packaged where they’re picked makes a great oil. The Terra Delyssa from North Africa is has a nice taste.
Tunisian 🇹🇳 olive oil is the best in the world, mastered and nurtured since the era of Hannibal Barca of The Empire of Carthage to this day. Long time before, even Roma wasn't a village. Also in Geneva European competition from 7 to 9th May 2024, Tunisia came first collecting 32 medals in total.

Great! Thanks you so much for great lecture. Much appreciated! It was relieving to realize that olive oils brands that I enjoy are actually of good quality. I guess traveling to locations where people make olive oils helped a lot in acquiring the “taste” and finding authentic ones here in Canada. I was once in the South-Eastern Turkey where a disastrous earthquake happened last year. The place is known for growing olive trees where fruits are cold pressed right after the harvest. So I absolutely agree with you that if oil wasn’t produced in Greece or Italy it is still can be of the high quality one.

I really enjoyed your video. Lots of great information. I especially appreciated the info on the trans fat and the longevity of olive oil! Have you ever reviewed any olive oils from the States? Is there any way to find out the polyphenol levels of an olive oil?
I have had some extra virgin olive oil from California but not a lot as I tend to lean towards Europe but there for sure is good olive oil made in the USA - as for testing for polyphenols, that's a tough one, but the odd company will actually post the phenolic content 👍
Thanks so much for the great information and advice on how to pick a good olive oil. I always wanted to know how to pick a good bottle of Olive oil. I love the way your well searched information. ❤

What's happened to the Greek Olive oil ?? I had heart & high blood pressure and I use it for the last 5 years now, and it's gone. Plus I travel to all South Europe & All those countries that you advertise.. But my surprise taste was in Greece !! You cannot beat the birthplace of Olive oil... Ty
Greek Extra Virgin First Cold Pressed Olive Oil from Crete, Kalamata, & Lakonia is in my opinion the best you can buy. Brands are Spitiko, Mythologia and Minerva are excellent but also the small production 100% Organic Olive Oils in Greece are all award winning for flavor, aroma and quality . What most people don’t know is that Italy is the largest BUYER of Greek Olives . So when you look at some of the Italian Olive Oils they are actually using Greek Olives . Also Southern Italian and Sicilian Olive Oils are excellent as well . Calabrian Olive Oils are very high quality . On anther note , if you go to any Greek or Italian Restaurant in the US or Canada ask the waiter where their olive oil is from , the reason for this is that most Restaurants will use low grade Olive Oils . Especially if you ask for Olive oil to dip your bread into . Always ask if their olive oil is first cold pressed extra Virgin Olive oil . I ve been in the Olive Oil and Restarant business for over 30 years and off labeled Olive Oils are usually mixed and you will see on the back “ Olives from Tunisia, Greece, Italy and Spain” These are olives that are bought in bulk and just like honey it’s always best when it’s from the same farm and same type of Olive .

This information will help me when choosing olive oil at the grocery store. I just hope that I can trust what’s on the label
You can trust what's on the label, but just be sure to scrutinize....as I mentioned, imported from Italy doesn't mean it was made in Italy with Italian olives - do the label is accurate but doesn't give enough info ...look for labels with more detailed information 👍

What's you opinion on the Terra Delyssa EVOO?
Have you tried Cobram Estate EVOO?
I am so happy I came across your channel today. Thank you for all this information. I have been using the brand from Africa for years, however, after watching your very interesting video, I will try DOPs & IGPs as well. Again, thank you for such an informative video.
So glad you enjoyed this episode and I am happy that I was able to help 🙂🙂
THANK YOU! I CAN MAKE A BETTER CHOICE NOW. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME TO WISE US UP.
It's not about his time it's about making a video and making money. Eagle
Thanks for every thing. The one you did not like (Gallo)came from Protugal. And i'm agree with you..
Fortunately enough, i bought the cold pressed olive oil in a dark glass bottle intuitively before watching your video...thankyou btw 🙏
One think came to me during your video though which was remembering how the old school European folk's naturally prefer to buy in bulk as they have big families more often than not as we know, so they naturally cook a lot more than regular families, which brings me to the question of the large tins of extra virgin olive oil that even many restaurants use also.
How do they fair in tins, is it better, worse or no different to glass ?
So glad you picked out a good olive oil and glass is number 1, tin is number 2 and plastic is in the bottom at #3👍👍
Very helpful and informatuve video. Thank you, Sir 👍
We started buying quality olive oil and noticed a difference. Pressed and packaged where they’re picked makes a great oil. The Terra Delyssa from North Africa is has a nice taste.
Try Al-Koura Farms extra virgin from northern Lebanon.

The yellow labeld bottle terra de Elyssa is the best olive oil .... it is from Tunisia traditional and original flavor and gold color....
I love the EVOO from Tunisia. I have been using this EVOO for years.
I have italian too. Not tasted Spanish... I love the Greek EVOO too
I have been buying the Tunisian oil for several years because the price is lower than most other oils and it tastes good.
Thanks for your feedback
The big question is if the oil is really original?
And do you have a link to the manufacturer's own website
I would love to buy from them
NO
Thanks for the great information. I learned so much!
So happy to hear this😊😊 Thanks for taking the time to write 👍👍
Thank You! Excellent information. Helped me to pick the right one.
Perfect!! This makes me happy 😊😊
Thank you for taking time and explain to us how the process work, and how to choose the best one, after listening to your cool info, I don't think I'm just going to grab olive oil bottle just because it's says olive oil, thanks to your valuable info I'm going to be looking at the front the back the whole shebang. Cheers🍸
So glad you enjoyed this episode and thanks for your feedback 👍
Great new olive grove near Austin Texas

I really enjoyed your video. Lots of great information. I especially appreciated the info on the trans fat and the longevity of olive oil! Have you ever reviewed any olive oils from the States? Is there any way to find out the polyphenol levels of an olive oil?
I have had some extra virgin olive oil from California but not a lot as I tend to lean towards Europe but there for sure is good olive oil made in the USA - as for testing for polyphenols, that's a tough one, but the odd company will actually post the phenolic content 👍
I learned more in this 45 minute video regarding good olive oil, than I picked up in the last 20 years! Outstanding!
So happy to hear this 🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍
I love the analogy used to describe the olives Like the banana in term of different stages etc

Absolutely fascinating, I loved EVERY SINGLE SECOND!! Can you tell me what brand is your go to evoo? I live in the states, (California) and I’m literally about 15 minutes away from a local company that manufactures olive oil, I love their stuff but I never knew what to look for as far as labels go. Thanks so much for this episode, I loved it.
I am so happy to hear you enjoyed this olive oil episode and I honestly do not have a single go-to brand, but rather, I use these tips and the taste test, to determine which bottle to buy, and I like to try different varieties 👍👍

Ty
It's unfortunate that you cannot find the Greek olive oil locally, that you want, but you can definitely order it online👍👍
I have been buying Greek EVOO imported directly from Greece. Can only find it in an international market. I get the big tin, I love it 💗
Greek Extra Virgin First Cold Pressed Olive Oil from Crete, Kalamata, & Lakonia is in my opinion the best you can buy.
I ve been in the Olive Oil and Restarant business for over 30 years and off labeled Olive Oils are usually mixed and you will see on the back “ Olives from Tunisia, Greece, Italy and Spain”
These are olives that are bought in bulk and just like honey it’s always best when it’s from the same farm and same type of Olive .
@@watchwarrior8597I agree Spitiko is the best.
@@watchwarrior8597 thanks for such great feedback 👍👍👍
