    Miraculous even by the standards of Richter and Beethoven.

      Sure. In the opus 109 you have all the Beethoven tou need. Forget the others 31.

    Juste la plus belle version dans ses moindres détails, inégalée ! fluide, maitrisée, intériorisée, déchirante, naturellement chantante et expressive . Richter au sommet nous délivre un message humain au delà des notes de musique, comme bien souvent !

    Marvellous performance! What a genius this Sviatoslav Richter!
    I love his romantic poetical play! Unequalled in combination with his technically perfect performance!
    This touches your heart and soul immediately.
    Great respect for this always surprising Sviatoslav Richter and of course also great respect for Beethoven!

    Especially the slow part of the andante between 5:47 and 11:47 seems to come out of heaven! Transcendental music!

    I'm tempted to say that there's something of a "double miracle" here. For not only is Richter's performance breathtaking in its customary brilliance -- the expected miracle, as it were; but for one of the rare occasions in his live recordings, he was actually blessed with an audience that generally held their coughing to a minimum! I hope this Opus 109 has found its way to an available Richter CD. Thanks for sharing this sublime display of Richter's grand artistry!

      Well said, you are absolutely right. And indeed the Russian public behaved much better than normal in regard of coughing. It irritates me enormously in general. I think if you have to cough get out, leave the concert hall.

    Beethoven was totally deaf when he wrote this Masterpiece....it makes it almost inconceivable that every Sound that we hear was internalized by this most unfortunate of all Composers .....it’s as if we are hearing his Soul through the deep imagination of Sounds that he himself would never hear 📣📣📣📣

    Magnificent and sublime rendition, though the 1st variation (molto espressivo) of the Andante is played a bit too slow in my humble opinion...

    14:10 This is magnificent , of course . But why is Richter never understanding that a Beethoven Fugue is NOT a Bach Fugue ?

    • @erickverran653
      @erickverran653 9 лет назад +8

      Are you sure it isn't?

    • @Fritz_Maisenbacher
      @Fritz_Maisenbacher 9 лет назад +1

      Erick Verran Oh yes , I am . Bach breathes with light in his fugues , Beethoven with flesh and hallucinatory revelation .
      More simple , the first is sure about his own hope , the second is waiting on God's phone call .

    • @erickverran653
      @erickverran653 9 лет назад +16

      Fritz Maisenbacher That sounds like hindsight to me. If you take an ahistorical point of view, a fugue is a fugue. Its directness has the same effect as rap music: forceful yet moving easily. In Bach this is normal, but for a romantic composer the baroque is the freedom enjoyed after a struggle.

    • @Fritz_Maisenbacher
      @Fritz_Maisenbacher 9 лет назад +4

      Erick Verran Excuse me to be rude , but fuck off with your "historical point of view" . Listen to the fucking fugue , for God's sake ! This is beyond every rationality , this is emotionnal lava , exterminating every rampant intellectualism in front of it ! This is High Metaphysic falling from Heaven on our bloody earth !
      And now the racist comment : I think you are French or something like that .... so please , wait outside , or go away from this stuff , this is NOT for your culture . Good night .

      @@user-rf8xc4vu2ihe want to talk, that Richter didn't play Beethoven with emotions and heart, his playing is very intellectual, but not vital.
