Lyme Regis is a coastal town situated in the county of Dorset, England. It is part of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its geological significance and fossils that date back millions of years. The town is perched on the stunning Jurassic cliffs, providing visitors with breathtaking views of the coastline and the sea.
Lyme Regis has a long history, dating back to the medieval era, and it gained popularity as a seaside resort during the 18th century. Today, it remains a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from all over the world due to its beautiful beaches, rich history, and unique charm.
Key attractions and activities in Lyme Regis include:
The Cobb: This iconic stone seawall is one of the town's most recognizable landmarks and features prominently in the novel "The French Lieutenant's Woman" by John Fowles. The Cobb offers a lovely walk along the harbor and is a great spot for fishing and enjoying the sea breeze.
Fossil Hunting: Due to its location on the Jurassic Coast, Lyme Regis is a haven for fossil enthusiasts. The cliffs and beaches are rich with fossils, and visitors can join guided fossil hunting tours to learn about the region's geological history and, with luck, find their own fossils to take home.
Lyme Regis Museum: This museum showcases the town's history, geology, and rich fossil collections. It's an excellent place to learn more about the area's heritage and the famous fossil hunter, Mary Anning, who made significant discoveries in the region.
Beaches: Lyme Regis boasts several sandy and pebbly beaches, such as Monmouth Beach and Lyme Regis Town Beach. These beaches are perfect for relaxing, sunbathing, and enjoying the stunning coastal scenery.
Boat Trips: Visitors can take boat trips from Lyme Regis to explore the coastline and potentially spot local marine wildlife, including dolphins, seals, and seabirds.
Marine Theatre: This historic theatre hosts a variety of cultural events, including plays, concerts, and other performances.

Thank you for the upload, looks a nice traditional English town that’s still traditional. I’ve just had my house painted outside and said to my wife keep it the same color as it already is , which is a slate gray When I got home it was a sky blue and white Which reminded me of a beach hut . Must have got lost in translation as my wife is Vietnamese and I live in Vietnam. Still it reminds me of back home . Cheers .

Spent a weeks holiday at Lyme Regis must be 20 years ago plus. I seem to recall that it has a bookshop in the high street that has a tree growing through the inside of it.

It was a nice walk-through video but I can't believe that you never mentioned the fossil-producing cliffs to the East. After all, that is what it is famous for.
