I steered my sister and brother in law to this restaurant today - they are in Thailand on honeymoon and for the last couple of days were in Krabi town. They had the dry curry and stink beans and a few other dishes and LOVED it from the photos they sent me! They even did a Mark Wiens impression photo!
new subscriber here - I've watched all your videos in a span of like 2 days! Your attitude and passion are infectious, and your unique style when it comes to critiquing/describing different dishes is one of a kind!
Being that your wife is from Thailand, I would love to hear/see her opinion of the restaurants you go to while still there. It's always nice to hear from someone who knows there homeland well enough to tell you what's good and what's not. Also, thanks for another great video Mark. I do a lot of traveling, but you make me want to do more. So thank you for that. :)
After all these years of watching you I finally took the time to check out your blog (sorry it took so long!) and I like that you encourage people (big thumbs up!) but I dont think that people appreciate a talent that you have which is a HUGE part of your success and which you are VERY modest about (as in - you dont seem mention it anywhere) - you are an excellent hybrid food photographer (still and video). Its clear from watching your early videos and then going forward how much hard work you have put into learning photography, videography and sound capture. These can be difficult learning curves for many people... you make it look easy!
Unique delivery, the honesty of the presenter really shines through along with the genuine interest he has in the topic. Nice, i like it. *Worthy !* (And thats rare these days ;)
Its a joy to see Mark delighted with his and Yings favorite foods. I have come to gauge how delighted Mark is by the degree of tilt of the head to the right.
Just visited Nong Joke a week ago. Nong Joke now has English version menu book. We order 7 kind of Southern Thai style dishes. Tasty and excellent, especially 'sataw' .. yummy. I will visit this resto again whenever I visit Krabi. Thanks Mark
Another fantastic video Mark . I've never seen anyone enjoy their food like you 😃 My wife and I will be in Krabi over new years break .CAN'T WAIT . Cheers mate
Mark and Ying, Oh how sweet a story about Ying. Oh the peppercorns, they look yummy! That was quite a feast and all dishes were different. Never had stink beans. Now I will have to try. TFS :)
+Mark Wiens 1:20 it's Kaffir Lime leaf , it's really great with any hot and spicy stir fried because it aroma is amazing it's Citrus but ppl in Thailand not eat it fruit only leaf stem and skin fruit are used . incredible aroma .
I have eaten a lot of variety vegetables in my life, pretty much all the Asian ones as well, but, there are number of vegetables that Mark eats which I had never seen before! I am looking forward to try those! This is why the Thai people are healthier than most of us Americans.
Mark, a huge heartfelt thank you for the fantastic job you are doing showcasing these food gems around asia. I've just returned from a 2 month trip around SE Asia with friends, where we used your videos as our guide, and each cafe, hole-in-the wall and street stall exceeded every expectation. Looking forward to your Japan series. Bon apetite!

i can tell how well you like something by the "extended" closed eyes, just before a slight tilt of your head to the right. the look tells it all! cheers
What do fresh green peppercorns taste like? I assume they are peppery, but is it a different kind of peppery to the dried black variety? ...and in what way is it different? Please describe the taste! :)
How do those fresh peppercorn compare to black dried peppercorns? The dish seemed loaded and I know if it were black ones it would most likely have been inedible with that amount, they must have an interesting flavor being fresh :)
OMG that web oozing out of the banana stem !! now that's something you don't see everyday. Gosh the food looks amazing, I'd spend a whole day at this restaurant.

When Mark does his 'Mark-Wave', you better believe the food is good😀
+EMBAR93 Yeah, and his varying degrees of the wave indicate how many stars other people would give the food.
+EMBAR93 haha i agree. the longer the drift and the longer the eyes stay closed = indication of how good food really is
he does it a bit too often though..
+EMBAR93 Mark-Waves hehe.. a little Stevie Wonder is in it too! Neverless it makes him sympathic!
