KRABI, THAILAND - For a long time now, Nong Joke Restaurant (ร้านน้องโจ๊ก) has been one of our favorite all around restaurants in Krabi. My wife is originally from Krabi, and went to the same school at Joke (owner of the restaurant), and so it’s always a good time to meet up with Joke and eat amazing seafood at his restaurant. #Krabi #Thailand #seafood
Today, we came early to see a bit of the fresh seafood - which they get directly from the local fishers right off the boat, just a few meters from the restaurant. You can be guaranteed that when you eat at Nong Joke Restaurant (ร้านน้องโจ๊ก) you are getting extremely fresh seafood. Along with a host of southern Thai food dishes and seafood, one of my favorite dishes to order is the king mackerel, deep fried and drizzled in soy sauce. I’ve tried this dish at so many restaurants throughout Thailand, and for sure this is my favorite version. It’s perfectly salty and fragrant. Along with king mackerel, we had crab sour curry (gaeng som boo), and special deep sea tiger prawns deep friend with garlic - recommended special of the day since they got shrimp today.
It was a huge and delicious seafood meal with southern Thai food, and I highly recommend Nong Joke Restaurant (ร้านน้องโจ๊ก) when you’re in Krabi, Thailand!

@Gappie Al Kebabi You missed my point entirely. I was talking about his ENTHUSIASM in presenting his video. And don't say that food is the cause of obesity. Food is always a constant. The only variable is how people eat.
Anyone can make a video about anything under the sun. But if it's going to be presented half-heartedly, then why even make the video in the first place?

Mark Wiens is always stoked about the food he eats, but you can tell he is even more excited than usual about the food in Krabi, as always fun to watch. My dad lived in Bangkok and then in Phitsanulok for a while much further north, but I've loved the food everywhere in Thailand I've had the good fortune to visit. Aharn Thai aloi maak!

Thankfully, Thailand closed their borders during the early stage of covid and there's like 3000 cases and 50 death
there weren't any new cases for months but due to illegal border crossing in the last few weeks, now there are more cases so let's hope they can take it under control like before so we can see more

I enjoyed watching this video so much, seeing your family + hearing the story of the family behind the restaurant, and its name, namesake, esp. seeing Pete's mom still in the kitchen well into her 80s. Walking through the kitchen, watching the delicious ultra fresh food being delivered by ice chest on a sidecar that close to the water it lived, being prepared, then the description of seasonings, and how it's being made.
The best was you describing this is where your beautiful wife is from, and how you love the fresh, delicious food, and how your favorite king mackerel stays in your mind + you return just to taste your favorite fish dish when you visit!
Your descriptions of the food, aromatics,textures, tastes as you were eating were very educational, and I know nothing would ever come close here in the states!

They have also innovate a lot . I was eating Thai food all the time, when. I was working in Thailand. It is one of the best cuisines in the world. I was healthy and had no stomach problem.

I've watched all the videos for years. This is one of the most beautifully presented meals. From restaurant decor to the vibrant colors (granted your camera has improved over the years) of each dish. Pleasing to the eye and I'm sure pleasing to the palate.

Anywyas, just fyi, we do have that Crab curry dish here in Singapore/Malaysia called "Gulai" we usually use fish as well and pineapple instead of coconut shoots.
