    PENANG, MALAYSIA - Welcome to Penang, one of the ultimate food destinations in Malaysia and the world. In this northern state of Malaysia you will find street food everywhere you look and today we’re going on a tour to eat 5 of the best Malaysian street food delicacies you don’t want to miss in Penang!
    1. Ali Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang (maps.app.goo.g...) - We’re starting with a true taste of Malaysian food - nasi lemak. The rice is cooked with coconut milk and fragrances and served here with a variety of sambal chili sauces with a variety of proteins like hard boiled eggs, anchovies and squid. Price - 3 MYR ($0.64) per packet
    2. Deens Maju Nasi Kandar (maps.app.goo.g...) - Next up on this Malaysian street food tour we’re eating what is undoubtedly one of my favorite all time meals, nasi kandar. This meal has Indian origins of a selection of rice and curry that was served to boat crews along the Penang docks. Now it’s more than a food, it’s a unique cultural blend that represents Penang, Malaysia. Price: 42.90 MYR ($9.13) for 2 plates.
    3. Laksa Mamu Famous Sungai Pinang (maps.app.goo.g...) - You’ll find many types of laksa in Malaysia, but one of the best is Penang Laksa, sour and herbal and with a torch ginger touch. Price - 6 MYR ($1.128)
    4. 888 Hokkien Mee (maps.app.goo.g...) - Penang has a large Chinese influence as well, and there are many Chinese influenced Malaysian street foods. Hokkien prawn noodles are very popular and that broth is loaded with the intense flavor of dried shrimp. Price - 13 MRY ($2.77) with the add-ons
    Bonus: Muscle Man's Char Koay Kak (maps.app.goo.g...) - This was a bonus, trying Muscle Man's Char Koay Kak!
    5. CHONG Charcoal Seafood Char Kuey Teow (maps.app.goo.g...) - Another dish that Penangites and Malaysians are so passionate about is char kuey teow, fried rice noodles with lard and a variety of seafood. This was one of the better plates I’ve ever had! Price - 17 MYR ($3.61)
    Penang is a Malaysian street food paradise and you don’t want to miss these 5 dishes and restaurants when you visit!

    Penang is my favorite place for Asian food. My hotel had the best fruit breakfast that got me going until lunch, then I just had to EAT SOLID FOOD! Seafood for both lunch and dinner... and for my late snack, was my preference.
    There is a food court that I ate at, on my first day that I could not find again. It was pure white, and huge. White tent roof, white tables, white chairs, white restaurants. Very clean, too. There were about 30 different food vendors. I'm going to add that everyone eating there was dressed to the 9's, NOT POOR. It was the best food I'd had in Malaysia ANYWHERE.
    I got to eat at the 8 story mall on the beach on Penang Island, and it was good, but not anywhere near the same as the street food at the big white outdoor food court food. I need to go visit again, just for the food.

    • @shakhan5589
      @shakhan5589 Месяц назад +2

      The pure white everything foodcourt that you couldn't find again sounds like from another realm, known as "alam bunian" here. If this is the case, you're lucky to have been "invited" to experience it

    • @MexicoAdventurer
      @MexicoAdventurer Месяц назад +3

      @shakhan5589 Elves or whistling people... no. Dressed in ancient attire... no. Just normal people with fantastic cuisine.
      My friend, who I played a duet guitar concert with, took me there after I flew in from playing concerts in Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Members of his group were there with us. It was absolutely AMAZING. I loved the little sauce covered fish kebabs more than anything. I guess that's the reason I could never find it again. After I left, he started the Penang Guitar Festival. I don't know if he's still involved. But... WOW. I loved Penang. I'd love to revisit the island while I still have breath. I'm getting old...

    Some absolutely ridiculous flavor levels right here, in this video and in Penang in general. Well done dude. This video rocks! (and the swapping forks with the Indonesian homie was a highlight for sure, super fun and funny guy!!)

    Kandar means to Carry :) love to see you eating with your hands so perfectly!! And yes as a northerner- we could nasi Kandar daily lols!!! You cleared that rice so well!!!! The laksa you had is Laksa Kedah or northern Malaysia Malay laksa (which I love too)! Penang Assam laksa is usually made by Chinese vendors and is non-halal, it has very dark broth, more sweet and with a much stronger fishy smell. Roti Jala is a crepe and a very northern Malaysian food from the Jawi people!

    One suggestion. When you travel different countries it would be ideal to know the cost in USD funds . We know south east Asia is cheap but if we know the cost the local thugs won't rob us......
    My wife and I absolutely love you. ! Cut down on your chillies , t hurts us to see you gulp those chilli 🌶 we are no less in gulping chilies but heath issues caught up and we slowed down

    Deens Maju Nasi Kandar has undoubtedly become my go-to spot for a satisfying meal. The tender chicken they serve is truly unparalleled-every bite is juicy, bursting with flavor, and cooked to absolute perfection. But what really sets it apart for me is the unique way they mix all the gravies together. Each spoonful offers a delightful blend of spices, creating a rich, harmonious flavor profile that’s simply irresistible. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience that leaves a lasting impression every single time.

      I raised 73k and Christina Ann Tucker is to be thanked. I got my self my dream car 🚗 just last weekend, My journey with her started after my best friend came back from New York and saw me suffering in dept then told me about her and how to change my life through her. Christina A. Tucker is the kind of person one needs in his or her life! I got a home, a good wife, and a beautiful daughter. Note: this is not a promotion but me trying to make a point that no matter what happens, always have faith and keep living!!!
