    I remember seeing an interesting take on the Eevee evolution thing in Yellow. Beating your rival twice makes him evolve it into jolteon so he can finally have some advantage over pikachu since jilteon has volt absorb, countering pikachu. Losing both battles seems to make your rival cocky, so he evolves it into vaporeon to show he thinks he can still beat pikachu despite the disadvantage, losing one and winning one makes your rival take the evolution that has to particular advantage or disadvantage to pikachu. Kinda cool how it may show some kind of slight development of the rival through subtle gameplay

    • @motodog242
      @motodog242 Год назад +78

      But abilities weren’t in the game, so Volt Absorb would make no sense. Jolteon still hold an advantage as the best electric Pokémon in Gen 1 (outside of Zapdos), due to crit being related to speed, and Double Kick and Pin Needle with a resistance to Pikachu’s STAB made it have that advantage.
      Flareon is an unfortunate Pokémon and probably easier to beat than Vaporeon for Pikachu. Vape at least had a high special to take a hit and deal back; Flareon’s STAB was different than its better atk stat.

    On the topic of ghosts: In RBY, the unidentified Ghosts in Pokemon Tower will have the same color palette as the Pokemon that was meant to appear. Cubone and Marowak have a different color palette than Gastly and Haunter (the difference is subtle in Red & Blue however), and the Ghost spawned through the Missingno. glitch has Missingno.'s colors. Because the sprite palettes for Cubone/Marowak and Gastly/Haunter are updated in Yellow, this effectively means that the Ghost sprite comes in five different colors across all Gen I games.

    Your take on PokeRus and its initial origin has sparked my interest. It had me thinking with my last Crystal playthrough that if there is more to it. Maybe I'm over-analyzing but I do think it's somewhat peculiar that the virus can be had after reaching Goldenrod. All I'm saying is that, by sea, Goldenrod is really close to Cianwood and Olivine...Olivine has a sick lighthouse Pokemon. Just north of the lighthouse after a very small route, there's a sick Miltank on a farm. Cianwood has a man running a pharmacy with intense medications.
    Like I said, I could be way off. The two ways the Pokemon are healed with assistance from the player are different; though, the sheer closeness of the a sick Ampharos and Miltank might have some connection or story that has yet to be fleshed out.
