There is a lot of good advice here, but I particularly like listening to Jeven Dovey. His manner of speech is easy to understand and his speed and enunciation allows you to retain it. He pauses during the sentences so people like me which are easily distracted can focus in pieces. When it’s fast and even toned without out pauses I lose focus. He’s not too fast, and he says things that the majority of people need to understand and he goes about explaining it in the manner that they can.
Reflecting on this video for a little while after watching it and what's interesting to me is that nearly everyone talked about intrinsic motivation. The "if you build it, they will come." And of course also "just do it." Very inspiring.
With shorts now, it's a totally different game. I went from about 12k subscribers, in November, to almost 900K now May 4th. December I hit 100K, got verified, and a Silver play button. Things just randomly shot up and took off once I started posting shorts was more consistently
@@ballooned It's an achievement for sure. But a short lived one. Subscribers nowadays do NOT matter. It's all about the audience around your channel. There''s thousands of shorts creators I've never heard of, but have insane subscribers to the point I'm questioning why I've not seen them before. It's useless, income is limited.
I've noticed that too! I just started consistently about 8 weeks ago and I started posting shorts consistently last week. I've posted 10 since, 1 Monday-Friday and I've already gone from 41 subscribers to 59 in just 12 days! I know it's baby steps, but the shorts are kind of like ads for my channel. Starting is a huge hurdle for people. Longterm consistency and intentional growth in the face of lack of results is even harder. Just started but hoping I can stay in the journey’
People are always asking me are you making money or when you are big you will make tons of money. To me it’s not about making money. I love making videos, I love filming, editing and gardening so I’m already happy with my videos. I do try to make better videos each time but for now I’m enjoying the ride.
There have been times where I wanted to give up on my channel and took breaks but I keep coming back, I know this year is going to be the year that changes everything for my channel.

Last night, I recorded the 24th episode. So glad the ball is rolling now. Lots of tiny baby steps being made. Still need to work on thumbnails, titles and a hundred other details. Always do a sound check. 😄
Another tip is not to compare yourself with others, applies for your RUclipsrs but also in life. Life is not a competition. I used to compare myself with others before, and I was always frustrated, but when I started focus only on myself and my journey I started to see progress and be more satisfied. It might seem like others are luckier than you but the reality is they been doing something for longer than you or better than you. Love what Jeven Dovey says: "what does success mean to you? What is the purpose of making videos".. figure out what it is you actually want, and what goals you need to set to obtain that - And, what happens when you get there". Very powerful
Here's a question! Considering thumbnails - our videos as you know are based around DIY projects, and we love to show either the final result or a before/after. So it makes it hard to create a thumbnail preemptively because we don't know exactly what it will look like. What advice do you have for this scenario? Get a general mock up of a thumbnail and just plug and play after filming? Amazing video btw! Very helpful tips everyone was spot on 👍 thanks for all that you all do and educating the community "You Got This!"
One way you could do it is take one picture of the material before you start creating and when you're done filming then you take a picture of the final product. And then you can put them side by side in the thumbnail.
1. Analyze your videos and filter by CTR 2. Pick the 10 with the highest CTR 3. Extract patterns they have in commom 4. Thats your formula Maybe, of your 10 highest CTR (not views) videos, 7 out of 10 have some text, maybe they have a determined background, maybe they share a dominant colour… It’s great the huge amount of videos and views you have! Thats means that the data you can extract is much more real and objective. Good luck mate!
I would definitely do what Emilia had said! A picture of the before and the final product! What I've seen trending in DIY thumbnails is that the final product is blurred so it evokes some type of mystery! Maybe try A/B testing with both versions and see what works best for you!
It's so inspiring that it unblocked all my blockers and I even dropped some tears. Thanks so much for that motivation. I was filming whole year of videos of different adventures and only now approached to that point that I have to do something with that...

This is like learning a new language (RUclips) i have been doing instagram for years and this is way more enjoyable than anything else i have ever done.😀
"Start before you are Ready" @sean u just nailed that... i have just started the journey by uploading the stuffs...enough of procrastinations are behind that...
My niche found me when I was 5 years old. I'm in the cruising niche, and I took my very first cruise when I was just 5 years old. Since then, I've been on over 30 cruises across various lines, and next year, I'm going on a brand-new ship, a first for me! This ship is still in dry dock, meaning it's still being built.
Just start. Today. The beginning is always hard, there will be ups and downs and days where you have to be very patient. You just have to stand the test of time. Once you have done that, the rest is easy. I wish you all the best of luck and success.
3:10 - Absolutely true! Its actually the same with food. If you care about someone, you make them a nice meal they'd love. Because u took the time and made it nice. Great video! :)
Thanks for an insightful video. I’m at 439 subscribers and counting. Have patience and keep reminding myself why I started recording my crochet tutorials: for my own records (so my kids can learn from these videos when they’re ready to take on crocheting, even long after I’m dead (if RUclips is still around 😂)) and of course to teach others. ❤
Your videos have helped me so much in regards to strategy and motivation. I’m three videos in and getting ready for the long haul thanks to you guys! 🙏🏼
I think my problem is i dont know what my true passion is. I have many different interests and things I want to do and i get burnt out too quickly because of my ADHD so i dont think i could really even be in a specific niche. Even with this current niche I’m in I know exactly what I need to do to become the top creator but it just doesn’t interest me anymore.
Title and Thumbnail are definitely the nail on the head! I learned that recently and I’ve started seeing some improvements. This doesn’t mean content shouldn’t relate, as we’re updating title and thumbnail, we should do same for content. Fail and try and fail and try again, that’s my Motto. Goodluck to us all…as always! ✊🏾💥💙
All of them gave the best advice on how to become a RUclipsr. They really are impressive and we get a lot of takeaways. But Gary Vee...! Oh my! He is on another level, brilliant advice. It really hits me so hard. And of course, the last advice from Cannel, thank you Think Media for sharing this video with us.
Thank you for all videos. I re-started my RUclips journey a month ago. Gained 10 subscribers, the rest was from years back then. I really need this to keep continuing
This is such valuable advice. I started out a channel 3 times, and quit after a couple of videos because I didn’t enjoy making them, and was in it for the money. After I gave it all up, I decided I wanted to write. But years later, I decide to practice animating and found something that I really love doing. I just started animating my story and draw original characters and hope to have a long lasting career in this. I’m definitely not doing it for money now, and I love the process of making the video from scratch and having it up here on my channel and have people say good things about it. My only goal now is to make the best possible videos, in a way that I can do myself for a long time without any struggle. Editing can be just a little annoying because it’s very timeconsuming but I forget all about that when the videos online. I made 2 videos and going to do what you said. Make every new video slightly better than the one before, and make it reflect my personality. Now I don’t have to pretend or act like I’m all enthusiastic, I just am. The work is worth it ❤
right on. editing is really a struggle here and time-consuming. I am just a beginner who created a faceless motivational channel, and my shorts videos took me 4 to 5 hours to finish.
@@LifeOdysseyMotivation Wow! I get you. It’s weird for a non-RUclipsr to realize you can spend 6 days on a 3 minute video, but if you consider that you probably watch your own content 20, maybe 30 times during editing, sometimes redo things, and then when it’s finished or you’re not satisfied, you have to start all over again 😂 The best possible scenario would be if you could one day order a skilled editor from Ali express 😂
Great video, we've been going for about 18 months. It's a slow process, but it's an important one, considering we came into this with zero experience 👍👍
I just started!! 🙈 creating and posting that first video was so hard! But the second one was easier and now I've got 20+ ideas in my head/ in the scripting phase. Looking forward to learning and getting better!!!
I just want to say thank you. I have just started putting videos up on my channel. I am learning as I go. Still learning how to edit videos and such. I am having a blast. I love walking, wild life and Christmas so I have started sharing that. Have a wonderful night and thank you again for all you you-tubers.
Honestly... Just starting is the way to go. I made some shorts about WWDC this year because they were "Easy" and tbh instagram reels are less intimidating for some reason. Last weekend I finally said F it and recorded my first long form video in a couple of years, and (For me) It's taken off. I'm 20x anything I've done before because I just stopped caring about the numbers and wanted to share my love for my desk space.
Josh Mayo's advice on judgment is helpful. I'm sitting at 4.8k subs right now, as I grow there are more haters but he's 100% right that most people have been awesome and encouraging. I'm really glad I finally started the channel after 3 years of wanting to press play.
I used my understanding of human psychology and got like 10k subscribers in a month…. I was getting hundreds a month but got burnt out. Even if you grow fast that does not mean you will last. It takes another level of concerted effort to sustain growth. Now I’m back baby. About to launch off my commentary.
Sean, thank you for this. You are a great encourager. Much blessings for helping people start. I started two and a half years ago and I bingewatch your videos to help me start. Today, I'm monetized and flourishing. Thank you for all you do and your team. Much Love.
Title and thumbnails are by far the most important after video ideas!!! GREAT ADVICE and great video!! only 225 subs here, but like you said, it's not about the subs for us, its about making of the videos having fun and connecting with our audience and growing.
Terrific work on the video, Sean and the entire ThinkMedia team! Over time, I have come to truly value your authentic and impactful way of sharing information with us. Your dedication to providing real and practical advice has made a significant difference, and I couldn't be more grateful for your guidance. Thank you again for all that you do! 😊
How does this video not how 100 million views? This is like Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Larry Bird and the rest of the top NBA players of all time inviting us on a court to teach us basketball. What an amazing time to be alive!
thanks for another great video. i just started this channel. i tried to stream games on twitch, made some money but it didnt feel right. i love to travel my whole life, so this is what i am doing now :) thanks for being inspiring !!
We can do it you guys, anything is possible, let’s work hard and be patient, we are tired of working for corporate jobs that don’t give enough credit and value to their employees, im ready for a change and I hope you are too. Let change our lives for the better !!
I feel with the creator who talked about finding your niche..I started an ASMR channel, which I love, but soon realized i want to make a different kind of ASMR, if I can even call it that way..and now feel stuck.I don’t want to let any of my subs down for just randomly switching up content..
Im in a weird position, I have just over 4K subs after 3 yrs from doing glock stippling tutorials. Now I want to switch my content to doing product reviews and discussing there benefits. Problem is I now feel like im starting all over and im still nervously searching for perfection. I guess I just have to hit record. Great video though guys, it definitely helped me to feel more confident.
New content creater here. Ive just posted 2. Great information here. The message of views and subscribers don't matter is priceless. I will agree one of the fears is criticism. Seems we focus on the one negative than the 99 positive. Seems we are quick to critisize rather than encourage. As a former athlete I'm using that as a guide. People only see the game. They don't see the thousands of foul shots in practice. Maybe if this community, or people in general, were more positive and supportive so many wouldnt give up. Add that eveything is a bout a viral video and if 1 doesn't go viral, they just give up.

That Hillier Smith tip about distraction temptation 16:30 ...yeeeeeesssssss 🙌🏻
3:10 - Absolutely true! Its actually the same with food. If you care about someone, you make them a nice meal they'd love. Because u took the time and made it nice. Great video! :)
Love this! Just got invited to be Monetised today so can't wait to keep improving my content. Great advice in this video 👍
Wow I can't believe I watched this whole thing without noticing the time. Thanks for putting this together!
Great video! Really changes perspective on how things work.
Now lets use these tips to improve 👌👌
Amazing! So much great advice packed into 30 minutes. Going to have to rewatch this again. Thank you! 💪💪
This would be 🔥 on the podcast so I can re-listen OFTEN :) loved this! thanks!
Really like what Joshua Mayo said, not familiar with him but he’s got a strong mental foundation
Even with this current niche I’m in I know exactly what I need to do to become the top creator but it just doesn’t interest me anymore.
this was amazing. Saving this under "Motivation" so that I can keep gong and never give up!
Unbelievably helpful stuff! I just started and have been listening to the 15 minute version of this vid over and over again for inspiration.
RUclips collab?

Looking forward to learning and getting better!!!
what is your channel about?
Bookmarking this video! Such a great collection of insights that are not about “insights” or algorithms. Thanks for putting this together. 🙌🏼
Glad you liked it Brad!
RUclips collab? Grow together
Josh Mayo's advice on judgment is helpful. I'm sitting at 4.8k subs right now, as I grow there are more haters but he's 100% right that most people have been awesome and encouraging. I'm really glad I finally started the channel after 3 years of wanting to press play.
Thank you for including @Erinondemand in this video
I used my understanding of human psychology and got like 10k subscribers in a month…. I was getting hundreds a month but got burnt out.
Even if you grow fast that does not mean you will last. It takes another level of concerted effort to sustain growth. Now I’m back baby. About to launch off my commentary.
Sean, thank you for this. You are a great encourager. Much blessings for helping people start. I started two and a half years ago and I bingewatch your videos to help me start. Today, I'm monetized and flourishing. Thank you for all you do and your team. Much Love.
Thank you for all the meaningful advice. I hope to put it all into action and successfully kickstart my youtube journey really soon :)
❤❤❤❤❤
Needed this reality check & boost of confidence, thank you for creating and sharing!
Im getting started into shorts. I have no experience in anything to do with video and editing but I started. I will only get better day by day.
How does this video not how 100 million views? This is like Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Larry Bird and the rest of the top NBA players of all time inviting us on a court to teach us basketball. What an amazing time to be alive!
Thanks for the great advices, me and my son are grinding to get monetized 😊 still a long way but we'll get there and we won't stop!
thanks for another great video. i just started this channel. i tried to stream games on twitch, made some money but it didnt feel right. i love to travel my whole life, so this is what i am doing now :) thanks for being inspiring !!
Action>Motivation But I still love these videos
great advice! THINK MEDIA helped give me the confidence to LITERALLY JUST DO IT!!! dont let the voice inside your head scare you
Wow, lots of gold nuggets here. I wish FB would recommend this to me in my feed every year. Keep on plugging tubers :)
Great collection of important information! Thank you!
I’m here to listen and learn!
Such an inspiring video! I started 44 days ago and on 99 subs so far, having so much fun doing this and these videos keep me inspired!
Fantastic video! Motivating and full of knowledge. Thank you for putting this together.

Beyond passion, these types of information are necessary for growth as creators. Collaboration is also a big tip. I hope we all make it at the end❤
One of the best you have compiled for us 🤚
Great 👍 👌 video and really insightful. Thank you.
Amazing video. You are the first channel I followed as I started my youtube journey.
Trying my possible best
With thumbnails, video, etc i record with my phone but subscriber and views seems to be one impossible thing
There's a lot of wisdom in this 30 min video. Thank you so much! 🙌 Hoping to apply it all one step at a time.
Some really useful points here!
I absolutely love this video! Full of so much inspiration and advice!
Great advice full of awesome tips thank you. I’m looking forward to starting my new career soon :)
