Thanks. I just moved to Cali recently from the Midwest and that second rig is what a lot of people told me to use, we were just bottom bouncing them from a bridge on the American river like you would for cats or walleye
Hey, boss! Been lovin' your videos! I know you've uploaded this hella time ago but in case you can still see this, what time of year was this? Also, do you think these shad are really there all year or did you catch em' during migration? I live in the Bay Area but I come from tropical Mexico where fishing is different. I've only recently begun getting into fishing really hard here. I've been having hella fun but still getting the hang of it and the species! Back home we don't have these shad. We have another type called Pacific Gizzard Shad which is a ton smaller and so much harder to catch without a cast-net since those are filter-feeders of plant matter. Thanks, man!
What’s up man, thanks for the view and comment. These American Shad are only here during the Shad run. This is usually around spring time when they run through, and they run through super thick. We also have threadfin Shad, but those are only a few inches long. The American Shad are super fun to catch on light gear.
Use a pole that is as comfy and as light as you want. Keep in mind the females can average 3-5lbs. I use a 7ft $15 shakepheare ultralight rod from Walmart with a $200 Procyon reel lol. The rod you need to use should be comfy that you can cast 100's of times without getting too tired since you end up fishing for it multiple times and certain times the fishing can be tough and you don't want to get too tired constantly casting.
Hey thank you for the information I used my 7 ft ultra light setup with 4 pound test this weekend way more fun your info is really informative my friends didn’t believe me that I was only using 4 pound test if you go out to miller park its hella crowded on weekends but weekdays aren’t as bad right now there’s been a lot being caught you should try to make it out there sometime again thanks again bro
@@corefishing1 nice! I just moved near south natomas and it’s like minutes away from the river (sand cove and old river road) Looking to go these weekdays. Any tips ?
@@corefishing1 I appreciate it ! I’ve been researching spots but most of the time I get skunked . I think that’s what I’m doing wrong . I go at lunch then expect a bite right away lol . I never tried early morning fishing but I think that’ll increase my chances . Last question . What’s a good time for stripers! How early do you usually go?
explained in great detail. By the movement of the hands, it is immediately clear that we have an experienced coach in front of us.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the kind words and watching the video.

U guys ever use the guts or the shad for sturgeon or stripers
Never have. Usually just use Shad for crab bait.
Heck yeah! Awesome tutorial bro!
Nice catch, do you have a American river shad fishing information, let me know please.
Hey Joe, what’s the difference between the 1 piece or 2 piece elixir performance wise ? Or are they same and its just preference ?
What kind of fishing pole are you using bro and what size?

Off topic, but when you use the Senko for trout, you mentioned cutting it in half. Does that mean you make use of both ends, the skinny and fat side?
@@corefishing1 Thanks. That ends up being a pretty small bait then.
which phenix rod you use, very light and powerful
Rod and reel set up? Also please share location.
It's miller park by the bridge.
Hey nice video what size pole do you use
