    I enjoy almond milk as an alternative to cow's milk. There is so much confusing info about soy, thanks for this overview and frequency, how many times per week that is best to consume.

      Thanks, Tressey! The research was definitely challenging. I only looked at independent, 3rd party studies that didn’t have an agenda. So far, it appears that we can eat up to 5 servings per day without ill effects.

    Just to be sure, I am taking synthyroid, so I should never eat edamame or tofu.

      If you are taking an iodine supplement, you can eat up to 5 servings a day of any soy product, without affecting your thyroid. Fermented soy products are the most healthy, but any non-GMO, organic soy has health benefits. Remember, though, to wait 4 hours before taking iodine or other minerals, after taking your synthroid in the morning. Thanks, Mary!

    Wow - I did not Know that 90% of soy was genetically modified - So interesting !
