I couldn't disagree more on the fight scenes. I very much prefer the newer style as it is more akin to actual fencing. Both traditional and Japanese. Which fits Ashoka very well considering her fighting style and the second saber is akin to a tanto in Japanese combat, which is much more slow and deliberate. It's usually a single parry and strike style. Due to the softness of the blades, the Japanese steel was very inferior in quality to European swords. Which came with a high chance of being shorn off if multiple parries were used.

They should have just done the heir to the empire as a show to build up thrawn first. So that way even if they don't necessarily explain the entire backstory to clone wars and rebels, but will have built up the threat, the villain and that often times is what makes the show or movie. Point Heath ledger as the Joker in the dark knight.

I would argue that if you watch all of clone wars and rebels you would have enjoyed the show. I watched with my father in law who had seen none of them and was confused the whole time while I was loving it. I know is a lot to watch but clone wars is the best stuff Star Wars has ever done and if you can get through the first couple not great episodes of rebels there pretty good too. I think is kinda unfair to judge the show without having the Star Wars knowledge to understand it

Ahsoka was trying too hard to be stoic and pensive, it got old real quick. Her fight with Baylan was good but everything else was boring.
Thrawn wasn’t that bad but he also didn’t do anything impressive, memorable or that made me think he’s truly a tactical genius. Seems like if the plan was to strand Ahsoka/Ezra, they could’ve made that happen long before they even had a chance to get back to the ship. I know they were loading stuff but Thrawn seemed to dawdle an awful lot when we could’ve had a reveal that he was long gone by the time the good guys made it back to where he was.
    Zombie troopers were wasted.
    Lightsabers are now just glow-batons.

I enjoyed Ahsoka even though I felt the 1st half of the series was kind of slow and boring. As someone who read Heir of The Empire series and the Jedi Legend books as a kid in the 90s, seeing Blue Elon(Thrawn) in the flesh was a delight. The Forces Witches are from those legend books so I loved to see them brought to live action finally as well. I think Ahsoka, Sabine, Ezra, Hera(surprise you didn't mention her cakes), Huyang and the crew have a lot of potential if Disney tightens up the writing going forward.

I was really disappointed in Dave Filoni this time. I really believe that Asoka is in the top eshlon of Star Wars characters like Luke, Vader, Obi-Wan, Han, Lea, and then Asohka 😮 Palpatine, Anakin, Lando, etc. But yeah she's that high on my their list.
My hope is that this is just Dave faloni's rough rookie season in live action and that he will improve in both feel of the characters and story. My fear is that he has somehow lost his edge, or outside influences are taking away from his writing and that Asoka will only get worse in the future. Sadly it's hard not to imagine Disney bungling this up yet again going off of their track record period

I've seen TCW, but not Rebels. Ahsoka should have made me want to find out more about the characters, it's kind of cemented that I will not be watching Rebel because Ahsoka has made me despise them all. There's so much talking in the show, but very little is actually said. Baylan made me interested, I would read a book on him. Shin was a waste of space, the fact she hasn't offed Sabine or Ahsoka yet is despicable. The short exchange between Hera and Mon carries more weight than any other conversation in the show, and that's because Hera is the one Rebel character trying to act and Mon can act. Filoni kinda did, didn't Ahsoka get pulled out of time in Rebels using the world between worlds? I think time travel needs to stay out of Star Wars, as should Harry Potter type magic. Star Wars thrives when it toes a line between Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Western. Some say that Legends Luke is OP, but if you took into account all that Disney has introduced through the Force (teleportation, raising zombies, instant healing....) someone at peak Force ability would be incredibly OP.

I wanted to love this show so much. I love Ahsoka as a character and love Clone Wars. Honestly haven't seen Rebels yet but know the major points for the most part. This show did a terrible job with the characters for fans and new fans. Eight episodes not enough for a season. The writing and pacing where hit or miss and more miss then hit. The visuals looked good. There was some interesting ideas and characters but nothing developed. I think they gave Ahsoka a character arc but it was poorly handled and batched.
The more I think about the show the less I like it. I feel like I was the target audience and they didn't win me over. Can't imagine an average fan liking this show. Which is a shame. There's some great characters and ideas. Hoping there's a season two and they learn from the season.

The truth is, there just isn't more than meets the eye to dave filoni. He is the friendly, optimistic, slightly low IQ geek in a cowboy hat that he appears to be. Unfortunately the general incompetence of everyone else involved in star wars makes him look like a genius.
Every single thing he has ever made is lacklustre, derivative, and just a bit soulless. I feel for the guy because he is clearly being asked to bat way above his average and he just doesn't have it in him.

  • @holdwhatdoor7629
    @holdwhatdoor7629 7 месяцев назад

I also don't understand the Dave Filoni love that fans have. His narratives are cartoonish because he wrote for cartoon that don't need to be any more coherent than a kid playing with action figures. It becomes far more egregious when that narrative and writing is applied to live action. A lot of Filoni's incoherence is covered up by being in 30 minute cartoon format.

It kinda gets lazy and silly to constantly mention "the visuals and sets were great", " The art and design was awesome" as a review to these shows. Yeah no shit, it should look good and top tier without even mentioning it in Star Wars.
But to have a good story, great pacing, character development, twists and turns, and earned setup and payoffs are all that's gone from this franchise. Dave Filoni has good ideas but his executions are bland and dull as hell. This show was visually appealing but horrendously boring and flat. I miss actual emotion, great characters, and a solid story that burns to your memory. Long story short, Ahsoka is forgettable unless you're a die hard fan.

    • @jaxsonburch-eo1vz

Yeah, if the show was written and directed as well as Andor we probably would have gotten the greatest piece of Star Wars content ever. The themes are there in the show, but things like Thrawn not knowing Ezra was on the same planet as him for years even through they literally were stranded there together, or the terrible blandness of Ahsoka in this show compared to how she is in clone wars, tales of the Jedi, and rebels, along with all of the absent character arcs and motivations, this show is just not quality tv. If you watch a show like Severance or House of the Dragon, you’ll see what great writing is. And what great acting and directing looks like. It’s very noticeable. I think the people who love the Ahsoka show don’t know what good writing and direction is like. I mean the Jedi Survivor video game has a better story than this show.
