Most prequel fans wouldnt buy this today for half the price because there is a really niche small market for people that want oversized sets that can be made into minifigure scale. Only older ot fans want stuff like that.

@@Jakes_Bricks_and_Pics You disagree with something I never said. There is a big market of original trilogy fans that buy out oversized builds, helmets, midi scale sets etc. I know a lot of people like that, they are the jang type that grew up with original trilogy, most of them 40 years plus with a kid in college or kid that is a grown up now. I am strictly speaking about prequel sets and we got only 2 prequel UCS sets in 14 years Gunship that sold horribly and Venator. Only Gunship would fall in this category.

There is actually a trick to preserving old minifigures with the special dark colors.
Carefully losen the tight joints and just never taking the arms and hips apart ever again.
Surprised no one ever talks about the tightening of the joints that occurs over time (might even happen to those who barely play with their figures).

    • @pinobluevogel6458
      @pinobluevogel6458 9 дней назад +1

So far I've rarely had a minifigure break. There are maybe 3 or 4 minifigure arms from all the way back in my childhood that have broken wrists, where there is a crack at the end so the minifig hand no longer has the friction to stay in the arm. There are quite a few 'loose' joints though, which comes from taking the arms and hips apart many, many times.
So far I've heard this happens most on the 'brittle' colors, when they got first introduced, so past 2000, but not in more recent years.

Hi David, I remember walking into Lego and seeing this on the shelf back in 2010. I asked one of the employees about the set when I saw the picture in the bottom right hand corner with the UCS plaque and display sticker I said, but this isn’t titled as a ultimate collector series she responded it is they’re just not advertising as it is, she also said I recommend that you get it if you’re an avid UCS collector. I purchased the superstar destroyer the Imperial shuttle within that 2 year frame. I bought three of Obi-Wan starfighter UCS# 10215 one on the shelf being displayed, one gave as a present and the other one still sitting in box. Point is David you’re right I almost missed this set completely! They didn’t advertise it well at all. Box art missing UCS and that wonderful UCS gold seal that has disappeared from today’s sets (so sad). Also at that time 2010 prequels weren’t that well received. People just overlooked this set. I’m super happy I talked to that employee that day and now enjoying it for 14 years. Oh the dark red pieces have been solid no breaking what so ever, even though I’ve move it and pick it up twice a month to dust it for 14 years 336 times picking it up with not one issue! The decals are stuck on the ship like they were put on today, no fading no peeling. Keep up the great work and vids!

I really wish my family had the money at the time to also get the SSD. It's one set I really wanted and likely won't given how much they cost now. But I'll definitely settle for the new midi-scale one. It not being mini-fig scale never bothered me because UCS sets aren't meant to be that. If they were, the huge capital ship sets we all love would be HUGE!. To be fair the droid not being removable is accurate to the in-universe ship.
The Delta-7 had the astromech essentially built into the ship as the way the wings were designed with how thin they were didn't really fit a full sized droid port, something they later changed for the Delta-7B model you see during the Clone Wars.
Of course that being said many LEGO sets of this ship do it anyway for the sake of playability, I'm sure, but it is a UCS model.

I built my set way back in 2010 it’s still in the shelf needs a little dusting but still looks good

Does anyone know when exactly Lego fixed the dark red parts? And has anyone done a study to compare the brittleness of old dark red and new dark red?

I personally like this set. I have a few minor issues with the overall shaping, particularly around the nose, but overall it looks great. Especially since I wall mounted it.

Would that R4 world scale-wise with the UCS X-Wing from last year?

I managed to get all 3 sets back in the day (and an extra SSD that I sold last year). Obi-Wan's starfighter is the only one I haven't built yet. Now I'm nervous about the red bricks...

i own this and im proud that its one of the rarer sets i own along with my UCS chrome plated Naboo starfighter, i just really wished we got an episode 3 jedi startfighter in UCS scale to go along with them - whats funny is back then i remember the the chrome plated Naboo starfighter and this Jedi starfighter both being on clearance when i got them in the UK Lego sets used to hit clearance super quick back before scalpers and resellers ruined it

Probably because the Clone Wars TV show was in full swing and we had sets like Anakin's jedi starfighter from the show? Plus, it's just doesn't work for a UCS.

I had it; it was like 50% off when I got it and ultimately sold it after it went out of stock and price increased. Scale was a bit too large and no figures but it was nice.

I remember not wanting this set solely because it didn't come with the iconic ring. Obviously that'd have ballooned the price, but I feel like they could have done it.

It is funny because I just watched attack of the clones last night (the movie that this set is from) and I have to say that even for 2010 standards, this is extremely accurate to what you see in the movie.

The Jedi Starfighter UCS set didn't sell well simply because it wasn't minifigure scale. I hated that about the UCS X-wing and the UCS Republic Gunship. I wont buy anymore UCS sets unless they are minifigure scale. But what we definitely need is a new version of the Imperial shuttle 10212. Missed out on that one when it was released. And I'm not paying $1800 for one now. LEGO, please bring that one back.

I had not been following or collecting Star Wars Lego for some time so I didn't know about this existing. When I strated to get interested again I tried to get one but they were just too expensive and combined with the small size/piece count and lack of figurine turned me off anyway.

Had they made it Obi-Wan’s RotS Starfighter AND paired it with Anakin’s, for $150 it would’ve sold like hot cakes.
