    I love how he drives the crap out of it for the review like it was a used Miata. :D Now they're so expensive he would be lucky to just sit in it.

    The most beautiful Ferrari there ever was. And yes, I hear it goes for $2,900,000 now. No wonder why.

      Andrew P . . . I completely agree with you. It is a beautiful version of the magnificent 308 - GTS aka the "magnum Ferrari.' The slightly revised "shape" and the twin-turbo engine made the 288 look even better than its 308 twin brother.
      Ferrari 308 - a fantastic looking car ... BUT . . . slow. Powerful world-wide emission standars saw it get slower e.g - over 7 seconds for 0 to 60 m.p.h.!
      Miami Vice the TV show helped the Testarossa become an icon. However, the 288 GTO is a discrete legend.

    As a design, it was the perfect car between the beautiful 328s and TRs...it was fucking perfect. 1. I saw one (blue) on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. Amazing. 2. No one knew what it was at a restaurant in Chicago. The valets were scared to drive it. I was one of them. I was going nowhere near that car, and it was fucking amazing.

    Ferrari make so many beautiful cars, but this one was always my favorite. Sometimes iI second guess myself looking at the newer models, but I still have a soft spot for this beauty. When I was in college (1984ish) I sat in one of these at a Springfield Missouri exotic car dealership. They also had a 512 bb in stock. I fell in love that day. The 288 is stunning!

    Obviously not the same transmission as the Testarossa because it didn't go BOOM! when you launched hard.

    They were the first of the NEW FERRARI Supercars... If you have a F40 F50 then you need the 288 GTO for your collection. Then the fact that the 250 GTO's are 40 million ++

    I saw two (!) of these sitting at the Ferrari of Walnut Creek (when there was such a place) back in the early '90's. NOT for sale just in the stable there. Getting my 308 serviced was a "humbling experience" :(

    • @drabhand
      @drabhand 5 лет назад

      Oh yes, I saw those, but it was from the window of my Gulfstream IV. Just on my way to watch two Lions fight to the death with Mike Tyson. We had 8 million each on the outcome, mine was named Trumpet and his was called Humblebrag. Trumpet won so I threw a party where we used several Ferrari 308's as toilets then burnt them to the ground with gasoline at midnight. Good times.

    This is the best looking ferrari since the 60s. One of the all time greats, exposed transaxle out the back, curved fenders. Only the Lamborghini Countach LP5000 QV from the same era looks close. Excellent video.

    Hate to say it, but the car’s name is the two-eight-eight, not two-eighty-eight

  • @davidhalley937

    The car was suppose to sell for $75k, but before they hit the dealers, the 288 GTO was $125. Then $150k, $200k, $250, etc. A sad note, a rich dumbass in Texas pulled the original motor and dropped 350 chevy in his the day after he bought brand new. SMH. In 1985, I saw a black one in Socal that someone obviously resprayed. It was badass in black! I love this car!

      I remember the GTO, it was made by Bob Norwood in Texas as a salt flats racer. I believe they were just body panels, he’s still a Ferrari specialist down there.
