  • The Walter PPQ is a new product for 2011. The 9mm Walter PPQ makes a perfect concealed carry pistol. The Walter PPQ is similar ergonomically to the Walter P99. The Walter PPQ is a great alternative to other offering such as those offered by Glock, Springfield or S&W.

    MAC, I just acquired the PPQ M2, and am about to start my initial eval. But you'll be happy to note that they have reverted to a conventional push-button mag release, and it is very sweet to operate. But this video is one of the reasons I've been foaming at the mouth to get the PPQ to start with. Thanks!

    Bought one of these shortly after watching your video. I love this pistol. So ergonomic and accurate. I prefer this style mag release. I have smaller hands and I find it more comfortable to hit it with my index finger. I've owned a few HK pistols so I'm used to it.

      Ditto. I have smaller hands and I have to reposition grip to push a button mag release. The walther release is better for me.

    I recently bought the PPQ M2. I love this pistol. The M2 version has the standard push button everyone in the U.S. is used to.

    This is honestly one of the best handgun reviews period. It fully covers every aspect of this pistol however as someone like myself who is a novice gun person I learned several firearm safety tips and the anatomy of handguns from this. Thanks!

    I really want to get my hands on this pistol. After watching a lot of reviews, I believe this would be a perfect concealed carry gun. I am also looking at getting a Walther PPS as a back up.

    First, the PPQ from everything I've seen and read looks great. It was cool to have your take on it also.
    Secondly, I really enjoyed the production value of this review. Im not sure if I've missed something, but this video just seemed more streamlined and to the point I guess.
    In any case. Keep up the work, you've got a very entertaining and informative channel.

    Recently purchased one, and I love it! I have the M1 version with the pedal release, and it didn't take me anytime at all to get used to it. In fact, I think I actually prefer it to the standard push-button style. I don't even have to alter my grip to hit the levers. And the trigger is AWESOME! You have to experience it to see what the fuss is about. Great gun!

    Great review. I loved this pistol when it first came out, with the exception of the mag release. Glad I waited - I got the M2 version and found that it is everything I want in a polymer midsize 9mm pistol. I found that I have similar accuracy using 115gr ammo and that the sights were spot on. The Walther seems to be everything I wished the Glock 19 would be...definitely quite pleased with my purchase.

    MOST EXCELLENT review....did a handgun class at my friend's ranch a few days ago with my steyr m40a1....loved it 'til i had to quick release mags (have stubby thumbs with arthritis settin' in)...need to practice wayyy more... .40s&w ammo is pricier than 9mm, so decided to get a good 9mm..that nite, another student brought in a new ppq (had never seen one)...got to handle it...instant love..(mag release works for me)..ordered one from friend/dealer yesterday...arrives tomorrow...happy happy

    Really glad to see this video, I really like Walthers and I'm getting my CCW later this year so I'll really consider this weapon. BTW, I've shot a lot of HK/Walther's in the past, and I find that to actuate the mag catch its best to drop your index finger or use your middle finger to work the latch instead of your thumb. I find that method to be a lot quicker and it works for more users.

    Very good review as always . Came here after watching the yankee marshals the best striker fired gun part 1/2 Then hickok45's ppq review. After watching all three reviews and now this one i cant wait to get my hands on a ppq definitely a 9mm poly to add to the collection. With the m2 version the mag release is push button so in my eyes virtually no flaws.

  • @Militaryarmschannel
    @Militaryarmschannel  13 лет назад

    @Gary1911A1 The grip only makes it a bit fatter feeling but doesn't really increase the reach much. The muzzle jump is more pronounced with the PPQ than a Glock, or so that was my impression. However, it's still quite controllable.

    Really good shooting. The m2 with its button release solves your big concern. The trigger is still butter smooth with a fast reset and I shoot it with my small hands better than most handguns. It is well worth the price.

    I love my PPQ Navy. It has to be the best semi I've ever owned. I can't say enough about the trigger. It's awesome. No jams, or failures. I got used to the magazine release, and I actually like it now. Great firearm, worth every penny.

    For the a Glock 19 for carry. The only reason is a prefer a slightly heavier trigger on a striker gun for carry and the Glock has holsters available for it that aren't yet available for the PPQ.

    @snipervictim I don't know how you can call it an XD clone with the XD is a copy of the Glock, Sig and 1911 itself. It's more of a P99 clone with a little Glock thrown in. It's also available for around $600.

    @VideoGameFallout I have, as I pointed out in my video. However, I've found it to be neither quicker nor more natural. I found it to be quite unnatural. I realize others may prefer this method. But with my long fingers using either my thumb or my index finger requires me to shift my grip, something I prefer not to do in a fighting handgun.

    Spot-on review. You didn't mention bore axis, which is something I think a lot of shooters way overrate in terms of importance. I totally agree that the trigger on the PPQ is the best of any polymer striker-fired gun I've tried, at least compared to guns that haven't been modified. Nicely done, and good shooting.

  • @VladimirTheLeadHead

    I absolutely love mine . I’ve got the PPQ M2 Navy with the threaded barrel and I think it also has a port to drain water from the striker channel and other parts of the slide. I’ve never tried shooting it under water but it’s supposed to be capable of that.

    Finally got my PPQ M2 .40 today. Let me tell you. Reviews are spot on. Dead on accurate, and that TRIGGER!!!! And the ergonomics are literally molded for a human hand. A superior pistol in every aspect. Under priced in my opinion, but who can complain about that. The best striker fired trigger on planet earth. German quality at its very best

    Exceptional review of the PPQ. Thorough and insightful. Glad you mentioned about the defensive carry of this gun and the AS trigger. I had the P99 AS and it is quite light, and it doesn't take much pressure to fire. I feel the SRT on the Sig's to be similar in that training and caution are required for defensive carry. I'm contemplating one of these or the HK P30L.. One other way to release the mag, the one i use on my HKs is to use the thumb and trigger finger at the same time, works very well

    He spent a lot of time talking about the mag release but the new versions have a push button. We bought this gun for my wife and I can't stop shooting it. I've shot some of the best groups with of my life with it. We even had the slide and bottoms of the mags cerakoted pink and my buddies and I still take several turns with it at the range. It is a lot fun to shoot and I would recommend it to anyone.

    Nice review. I was thinking about picking up a G19 but am not a huge fan of the ergonomics. All of the reviews I watch for this talk about how excellent the trigger and feel of this pistol are, so I am definitely going to have to get some range time at a local shop before making my final decision. Thanks!

    I love my PPQ and I love the paddle mag release. I specifically went for the M1 version because I find I can be a bit quicker with my index finger than I can be with my thumb. I can do well with a push button as well but I have shot Walthers and HKs for years so that might play a factor. My personal preference of course. Can't wait till I can shoot it next to a VP9.
    btw Love your channel Mac.

    I thought the same thing until I tried the M2. The new mag release is perfectly placed with perfect tension and response. Works great with my small hands. Much better than conventional mag release on my G34 Gen 4 which is hard to push and impossible to actuate with out breaking my grip unlike the PPQ M2.

    Have you checked into the S&W M&P line of pistols? I would say it's probably the most ergonomic handgun out there right now and it has the same reliability as the Glock. It should fit your hand much more nicely and it will have a Glock like trigger. The only difference is that the M&P doesn't have a reset you can feel. Some folks hate that, others don't really notice. I don't really notice. The P99 is ok, i've owned them, but I'm not all that crazy about them personally.

  • @Militaryarmschannel
    @Militaryarmschannel  13 лет назад

    @mrwhite4 I've been told they won't, but I haven't tested this myself. I'm guessing that a leather holster for a HK P30 will fit it. I say leather because if it's close, you can get the leather wet, wrap the Walther in some Glad Press and Seal, put it in the holster and let it dry. I haven't tried this yet, but I may one of these days. I don't have any plans to use the PPQ for daily carry right now.

    Great review. I've been seriously considering getting hold of a PPQ. I currently have a PPS, and I absolutely love it. If it is indicative of Walther's quality, then I'm sure I'd be pleased with the PPQ. Regarding the mag release, I don't have a problem switching back and forth between Walther and Glock. I do use my index for the Walther's mag release, and find that it is much more easily actuated the more forward (closer to the muzzle) it is depressed. Excellent channel. Gonna subscribe.

    I own the PPQ and by far it is my favorite pistol to shoot (besides my 1911s). the trigger is superb and will not lead to accidental discharges. If you have proper grip and trigger discipline the is zero chance of this happening. The mag release on the first version was innovative and very easy to disengage with your trigger finger with minimal to no grip change. I am sad they have removed this feature on the M2 ver.
    Will out shoot my G19 and 17 all day long which have rarely been used lately

Both are tiny and light. I carried the Walther PPK for years when I had a paper route in a really shitty neighborhood. Now I use Sig Sauer autos, or H&K. My 9mm Hi Power was the first auto I carried for protection. It did indeed save my life Oct 3, 2003 when some tweaker went off the deep end.

    I shot a buddy of mine's PPQ M-2 two weeks ago. I was so impressed with it I bought one 5 days ago. I own 3 Glocks, 2 XDm's, and one M&P and I thought I had to have one. I would agree you have to be carefull of the trigger as it is lighter that the other guns mentioned. It won't replace my G-19 in my CCW holster mostly cause I have so many mags and holsters for the Glocks but it is one nice gun.

    If you're asking what I think you're asking then people collect spent casings for "hand loading" where people use them to make their own bullets as it works out cheaper if you shoot a lot and they can tailor the bullets to how they want them. Its basically recycling where old bullets are used to make new bullets.

    I have a PPQ in .40S&W, and I love it. A couple things about that one in particular: the magazine holds 11 rounds in the .40 (13 round mags are available), instead of the 9mm's 15 rounds. Mine has a "standard" push-button magazine release, which is reversible.
    I want to echo everything he's said about this pistol. Its accuracy is amazing, the grip and trigger are wonderful. If I change anything, it'll be the sights. This gun could benefit by having tritium night sights.

    @common01230 I would say the most reliable handgun in my experience is the Glock 17 (Gen 1, 2 or 3).

    I absolutely love my PPQ M1! I have put about 700 rounds through it. Not a single issue. Mags are expensive $45 for a 15+2.

    I must admit I looked at the video thumbnail and thought oh yeah just another p99, but after watching that, the PPQ just blew my mind especially the tight off hand group! Always loved walther but seriously WOW.

    I love the way the magazine release works. I simply sweep my trigger finger down. It is very fast, and once you get used to it, you will likely prefer this style to the traditional button method.

    @fetus2genius1 I have a M&P 9mm, I'll post a review of it in a few weeks. Thanks for watching.
