law has always been one of my favourite.. but last week i saw a video which nation op chars have.. and at first i was excited that he's german, but being german myself i realised, wait there once was a german doctor called "surgeon of death" which was nazi scum josef mengele and now i'm a bit worried... i want law to be a good one but i fear he couldn't be ^^

I did too! My brother strongly recommended it despite it being like 500 episodes ahead of where we were. Did not disappoint.
Shanks displayed of haki is really something to behold. What a powerhouse. Luffy's G5 moment was epic. Really enjoyed this movie 🔥

Yeah that one scene was both awesome and terrifying at the same time. It makes you wonder, if Shanks is THAT powerful, why did he have to lose his arm to save Luffy at the beginning of the series? I am now wondering if he purposely did that to steer Luffy to the compassion necessary to commit on becoming a great Pirate to repay his debt to Shanks.

Film Red is probably the most fun OP movie to rewatch.

I've never gotten over how much of a missed opportunity it was to not have Brook be a bigger part of this movie. There absolutely should have been a music battle between Soul King and Uta at some point.
Maybe this is planned for later in the series with a different musical character? I hope :3🎶

YEEEEESSSS EXACTLY!! I really expected THE MUSICIAN of the crew to be included more
He’s a musician, so he figured out how to free them from the songsheet. However, he was also included in the audience, and hearing her songs means getting caught in her world.
Practically speaking, he could have probably sent his soul back to his body (since that’s how the Revive Revive works), but it’s possible that Sing Sing accounts for that by not actually ‘separating’ the soul from the body; she has control of the body, and they’re in her world, so they’re ‘united’ via her existence (making it so that he can’t return to where he already is).
Outside of that interaction, though, there’s not much more he would be able to do as the _only_ one able to leave. If he hears her sung again, he’s sent right back in, and he wouldn’t want to hurt people who were just as much hostages as his crew was.
Poor, naive Uta. As horrible as what she tries to do is, I can't help but feel bad for her.
Also, as Uta is canon but the movie clearly isn't, I choose to believe that she is still alive in the actual story
I like to think that in cannon they rebuilt the island full of people to learn and love singing and song. Shanks and crew drop by on occasion just to check on her living her best life. The movie is the dark timeline.

Honestly, the ending really upset me for because Im really tired of anime movies introducing characters who never get acknowledged again, and it felt like to keep such a major implication like Shanks daughter out of the normal story, they just got rid of her in her introduction.
But, as ive rewatched, it also lets me just say, hell with it, if shes never acknowledged again, i think she lived. They wanna keep it vague? Ima just headcanon it. Makes it all less painful

For the dub they actually kept all the music in japanese for the official release, HOWEVER the english VA for Uta did covers for every song and posted them on youtube, they are insanely good and you should definitely react to some of them.

Yeah weird that the English CA for UTA literally can sing and made covers but they didn’t dub the songs and kept the original. Maybe contracts or something but missed opportunity since it was such a global phenomenon and it could’ve been a great opportunity for foreign audiences to dub the movies and have their own cover songs.
Her VA actually has done many, many anime song covers on youtube before she got picked up for UTA, i didnt realize it was her till i saw she posted it on her community tab
@@chrissolace The french version did that but sadly although the singer was great it did not quite match the voice of Ado and lots were disapointed, maybe that is what prompted them to not do it in other countries since i believe France was one of the first few to get a dub

Same. One of the things I liked about this movie is that it showed different aspects of Luffy's personality we normally don't see as much.
watching this in theaters with my best friend was one of if not THE most enjoyable movie experiences i have had in my life. absolute banger of a movie, and Ado's voice made Uta stand out that much more
On the bright side you don't have to worry about getting spoiled anymore when the next One Piece movie comes out. You're caught up with the rest of us now.

- Uta (voiced by Kaori Nazuka / Amanda Lee while the singing voice is done by Ado) age 21 (9 in the flashback while Luffy is 7), birthday October 21, blood type XF, height 169 cm / 5'6½”, ex-musician of the Red-hair Pirates (her as a kid on a pirate ship reminds me of Pippi Longstocking) now a famous singer or "diva" (“Utahime”), the daughter of Shanks, her name is the Japanese word for "song, poetry", with her sing combining with her wings reminds me of the infamous creature called the siren a woman & bird hybrid that lure sailors to their doom with their singing, & she has the Uta Uta no mi / Sing-Sing Fruit a Paramecia that grants the user the ability to bring others souls (explaining Sunny-kun) / consciousnesses into a world that the user controls with their songs (its a pink round Devil fruit with stripes like on Uta’s coat & the stem has a musical note)
- In the dub movie there isn’t any English version of the song but Amanda Lee did make covers for the songs (they are great)
- Gordon (voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda / Jim Foronda) is the ex-king of Elegia (which maybe a reference to elegy which are poems of lament & refection mostly about the dead) also known as the “Island of Music” that is located in a Calm Belt in the 1st half of the Grand Line (from Volume 4,000,000,000)
- Speaking of Volume 4 Billion it gives some information on the Red-Haired Pirates like their fighting abilities which are shown a bit in the movie, but the most interesting is that after God Vally Shanks was found in a chest by Roger just like how he found Uta
- Name characters in the movie: The pirates that tried to kidnapped Uta were called the Jellyfish Pirates with the captain being Eboshi, Hanagasa, & Kaginote (each of their name comes from types of jellyfish), the boy who has a job as a Shepard is Yorueka, the young girl with Uta like hair is Romy, the band on the strange are called Animal Band which the members are Blion on guitar, Girash on bass, Carpennya on drums, Slim is the DJ, & Dawson plays accordion (each member is named after a musician), & Uta’s backup dancers are Devilgirl & Peanutsmonkey
- The director of this film is Goro Taniguchi who actually directed the 1998 OVA “One Piece - Defeat Him The Pirate Ganzack” which you can see him in the movie watching the concert (he has giant crab claws hard to miss him)

We also learn of that Shanks' full name which is Shanks Figarland. The Five Elders say it, questioning that Shanks had a Daughter all along while another says "We should end any seeds of Rebellion before it's too late," right after another adds "Even if this girl is of Figarland Blood?" which makes 3 of the 4 other turn to him with the 4th adds his concerns of Tot Musica. I don't see Oda allowing something that big to be something that isn't canon. While the events of Film Red isn't canon, Uta is.
I’m surprised you thought for a second Shanks was Uta’s biological father.
Oda loves his found family trope way too much.
Good biological parents don’t exist in One Piece : they’re either dead (at least one of them) or shitty parents. Sometimes both in the case of Sanji.
Sure there are exceptions but you can count them with one hand.
What about Kyros or the whole Dressrosa royal Family? Or Vivi father until you know what happened.

I'm really glad that you enjoyed this movie Ruff! As the real life version of Bepo for the actual singer, hearing someone who is pretty big in the One Piece reaction community say that this is their favorite movie feels pretty good. I also don't understand how people didn't like the movie and only for the reason that there is a lot of singing.
P.S. The singer, Ado, was only 19 at the time of recording these songs! Isn't that crazy?
P.P.S. She also sang Bink's Sake which for some reason wasn't played during the movie. I thought it was gonna play during the credits.
I am sure most people here already get it, but for the people confused by why Uta's power is so insanely versatile/powerful this is WTF is going on. When Uta sang the 1st song is when all the people in the audience - including the Strawhats & the other pirates waiting to ambush her - all got taken into Uta Dreamworld. Once there, as long as she could think it, it would happen. That is why Uta's power seem to be able to do everything, it actually wasn't, it was just her making up her dream as she went
Best musical line in the whole thing to summarize Uta’s mindset.

She truly believe that this is what’s best. A perfect world for everyone. It’s only when their words start hitting her negative emotions and trauma that she truly snaps
Can we all just take a moment and realize that Ussop's and Yassop's observation haki penetrated the boundaries between the soul world and the real world to the point where they can talk to each other

Surprisingly enough
Ado (the singing voice of Jap Uta) has incredible power in her voice, BUT AmaLee (the English singing voice of Uta) is actually incredible as well.
They have Tot Musica with both of them combined and thats soooo good
all of the dub songs are fantastic
usually dub songs are cringe but amalee does this so good and SOOO POWERFUL
i love how uta music starts as cheerful but gradually gets more distorted alongside her personality throughout the film, her being the main villian really took me by surprise as well, definately thought i would be more of a strawhats protect her throughout the movie thing but wow that was a plot twist
People love to hate on this movie for some weird reason, but I could watch it with 10 times worse animation just because of the songs that Ado sang for this movie. Uta alone carries this movie for that reason. I also love how One Piece doesn't only focus on dark and brutal environments, but also has these light and happy places. Just like Whole Cake Island. The contrast between "sweet/happy" and "dark/brutal" makes this movie even better. I also think that this is something alot of other anime/manga don't really manage to do. Anyways movie was a solid 9/10 and "IDGAF" about them showing Gear 5 in the end, honestly it just hypes the audience even more for the upcoming events in the anime.

@@happydream2776- so what did think this was going to be about? Literally the trailer showcased different songs and show that Uta was a pop Idol. Hell her having the Sing Sing fruit was predictable as well what were people trying to think this movie was about m? Also with all the singing in the series it shouldn’t be a surprise it made a musical eventually.
It really felt like a concert at the theater which made it even cooler
(A bit long bear with me, just really wanna talk about Uta's character, so interesting)
Talking about the fact that she already knew that Shanks was not responsible for the destruction of Elegia and that instead he tried to stop Tot Musica
But my question is more like
What does it really change?
Well, let's not lie, even I was confused when she revealed this, but after a second watch(10th maybe by now lol) of the movie, this time with the context for all the events that take place, I don't see any real contradiction with Uta's actions
First of all, the chronology of events must be put in the RIGHT ORDER

Shanks, Uta and the Red pirates are a pirate family. She cares about them, and they care about her.
So much so that they want to keep her from growing up chased by the navy, but also to be able to pursue her dream of being a singer.
But Uta doesn't want to part with them.
Once in Elegia Tot Musica came into contact with Uta and the country was destroyed
The navy coming back and Elegia being the "ideal" country for Uta they left her on the spot
When she wakes up, Uta is tricked by Gordon under the instructions of Shanks to stay
I remind you that Elegia is NOT Uta's country, it has no link with
From her point of view
She now lives on an island where all the inhabitants are dead except Gordon
Her family abandoned her
And finally she was pushed to improve her talent
Idk but for me it's as if Luffy was abandoned by his crew and now had to realize his dream alone
She had lost taste for life
And this for 10 years
Before discovering the Den Den Mushis of the SSG
From then on she started to spread her songs to people and it brought her joy
But at the same time she saw the suffering in the world
And more and more people were asking for her help
She had already started for a year before she finally discovered the truth
11 years later
That Shanks was not responsible
That Gordon was shirking his responsibilities as leader of Elegia, calling him a coward
And that she lived on an island where she was responsible for the massacre
But I repeat myself, what difference does it make
All right, Shanks is not responsible

But that's 11 LONG YEARS OF SOLITUDE
Not once did he reappear in her life (to protect her, of course) but UTA considered them family. And they just...disappeared
Therein lies UTA's hatred for Shanks
The abandonment
Not the destruction of Elegia
And added to that the fact that she sees the world being ravaged by pirates
Shanks or not
She had to go on and finish what she started
Create her dream world for the victims
She started her live and warned the navy and the world government not to interrupt her
She had to go on as long as it takes for the fungus to kill her
And all those who oppose her will face Tot Musica
She knows her power but she also knows that the navy and the GM are powerful
She was trying to buy time to die and save the trapped souls
Obviously her plan was full of disillusionment but AFTER a rewatch
I don't see things the same way anymore
In fact I am quite happy with this twist because from the beginning of the movie
We say to ourselves
There is surely an explanation
She probably doesn't know the whole story but she doesn't
And it's much better (obviously it's my opinion) than the fact that she is in the wrong just because she didn't know
Ignorance would have been too simple an excuse for what she was going to do
After that she gave up trying to save her life by drinking the sleeping cure
And had to save the innocents who were more and more in danger
So she had to stay awake and ended up dying to save them

You’ve probably already heard it, but in case for anyone else that didn’t know… UTA also sang Bink’s Sake on the digital album of the song, so that’s a nice treat for new song content! It’s a different version that the somber ones we might be used to but I think it’s a breath of fresh air, as I’m sure not every crew sang it somberly.
And I actually loved this movie too. Sad many others didn’t since it wasn’t as action heavy and had a lot of music. I think a lot of people didn’t even like UTA because of her reasonings but I found her sympathetic and binged the songs before the movie, so it was such a treat.
I loved the movie as well but did have some criticism about it. Uta's songs by Ado were fantastic and I did not mind the music being in the story at all considering it fit the concert scenario so did not feel out-of-place. I also loved the core story of Film Red. The history of what happened in the past and how it affected Uta, Shanks and Luffy's lives was very good. The interesting twists around Tot Musica was really well done. But the execution of the story was a bit lacking for a OP story IMO. Most OP stories have some really deep meaning to the story and the character interactions, and I think it was really well done regarding Uta's life and her relationship with her father. However, the interactions with Luffy felt lacking. Considering how close Uta and Luffy were in the beginning, and how Luffy thought Uta had died or at least left him forever when he was a child, his reaction to seeing Uta on stage was like ...."Yo Uta Wassup?". I would have expected a lesser but similar expression of how he saw Sabo at Dressrosa for the first time. And the things that happened after that felt somewhat shallow for two childhood friends who met up for the first time in ages. I also felt like half the support characters were not even needed in the movie. Like why have Blueno, Coby and half those people in there aside from the fan service? I feel they were put in just to let people be happy for their appearance but I felt it kinda shifted the focus away from where the story should have been, which was the interaction of Luffy with Uta and the understanding of why Uta became who she was. These are just my opinion though and regardless of a few minor issues, I really did like the movie a lot.

And I think the difference between Sabo and UTA is that I think Luffy thought Sabo was dead-so he would never see him again-but UTA was alive, so while it was sad he couldn’t see her again, there was still a possibility they could reunite and she was off achieving her dreams.

In Movie Oda always give some little information from main story (like foreshadowing how shank find uta , name from one family mentioned by gorosei etc) and i love the credit from this movie cause there are some cover stories which cant be animated until now, that scenes was edited with Uta merchandise
I was so hyped for Brook in this movie. I mean do you know anyone who can fight for people SOULS with MUSIC and SONGS better the Soulking himself? Such a miss opportunity
All songs in this movie are awesome, wonderful, amazing and they fit in this movie incrediblely. It’s so insane. I got crazy about all songs. The last song made me upset all week after.
Canon info that was on the movie booklet :
- Shanks was adopted by roger and Rayleigh 38 years ago AT “God Valley”
- Uta did not know the downside of the shroom of it killing u after u eat it, so she really believed she could create a dream world forever for without having to suicide. She did not eat the shroom with a suicidal wish.
- Shanks’s Conqueror’s Haki is so strong that it has “anti-future reading effect” (in japanese its said as “Observation Killer”) and people can’t read Shanks’s future even if they have the ability to do so
- Uta’s hometown was attacked by pirates, her parents were killed, and she was kidnapped by pirates (who got demolished by red-haired pirates)
- The transponder snail she found ashore was SSG, a prototype of what vegapunk is working on
- Before knowing about what really happened at elegia, she made herself known as “pirate-hater”, “the song princess that saves civilians suffering from pirates” but after finding out about what really happened, it created a double personality in her. Aside from what the world knows her of, there was one side of her wanting to see shanks, her past about loving pirates, and feeling guilty of killing all the people at elegia, and feeling like she have no right to hate-on pirates for doing so
- These are specifically Oda’s words : “The villain is only tot musica, and nobody else. Uta’s plan failed and that was good, but Luffy, who promised with uta about the “new generation” is still alive. Maybe shanks is also ____(huge blank)_____.
Info that i personally noticed :
- Luffy used gear 5 in the movie but, Zoro used Conqueror’s Haki and Sanji used Ifreet Janbe in the movie as well. (Cover of book 102 confirmed that zoro’s conquerors aura is green and Sanji’s Ifreet Janbe is blue flames, and both were seen in the movie)
- The moment Uta started to sing her very first song, the gloomy cloudy weather became sunny, showing how at that moment, everyone was thrown into her uta world
- Uta was able to heal the 2 SP shot by St. Charlos in the uta-world but not the civilians who got shot by the marines in the “real” world, just showing how her uta’s powers of literally being able to do anything are only limited in the uta-world
- During the flash back of Uta singing at windmill village, when the song was interrupted, it instantly showed uta sleeping, hinting how her sleeping means end of uta-world
- The organization SWORD is supposed to be the top secret, but it seems like its known by cipher pol and all, and they kinda seem like opposing organizations…? (Btw Oda said himself in interview that he didn’t plan to have helmeppo in sword, and blueno/Kailfa in Cipher Pol 0, but the movie kinda changed his mind)
Actually, everything is right aside one thing. In the booklet Oda says that Uta knew about the shropms effects, the dying part. What she didn't know is that they would make her lose her mental sanity and drive her emotions crazy.😊
She knew she would die, but she was already not stable enough and started believing her body death wouldn't be as important
I remember when we watched it on cinema it was so good that my tears are dropping especially when the crowd is yelling and cheering

Just watched your reaction to ep 1055. Toei usually adapts around 80% of a chapter, not half of it. So ep 1055 was 3 pages of chapter 1029 and 10 pages of chapter 1030. That means they make 5 episodes out of 4 chapters, because the manga have more breaks

This movie, for me, can't be topped. I had actually just caught up with the One Piece manga around the time the film was coming to the US. I was getting into the anime and I hadn't watched any film up to that point. I went to see this film in theaters dubbed (fight me, it's just as good) and it was phenomenal. Uta's whole plot had me hooked and Ado/AmaLee did such fantastic portrayals of the character. Her sacrifice and ambiguous death and the end of the film actually got me crying, because I had known Uta for about an hour and she got me insanely emotional. Film Red is a masterpiece to me, and it will never be topped

Thia really feels like "fanservice wish fullfillment the movie", in a good way! Every character of any importance is here no matter if they realistically should be able to or not, and they're all being cool and awesome 😂

G5 reveal is not subtle if you know what it is, I watched this movie in theaters with a friend of mine who was anime only and he didn't even notice. Same as Sanji's Diable Jambe Ifrit
The G5 thing was about as subtle as an outhouse in the middle of a hotel lobby
Kizaru is always the type to take orders while having a nonchalant laid-back attitude. Even from his own subordinates.
I loved it, the music in theatres was banging, sad for the fans who only wanted action like Z or stampede 🙃

Uta is the Luffy that didnt make it. The abandonment issues, fear of loneliness, anger at injustice. Shes portrayed as his foil because shes manipulative, scheming, and patient. Even the cr*ckhead jokes about Luffy are made real with her mushrooms
The singer for the songs is ado and the adult and kid voice is both her.
Fun Fact the little Sunny’s dub is Choppers 4kids dub voice actor. This is the second time this has happened. I think the old lady with boa her dub voice actor is Luffy’s 4kids dub and Fake Luffy’s dub is Luffy’s testing funimation dub Voice Actor.

I still think they should have took those tie-in episodes and edited them into an extra 20-30mins for this film. It just makes the film so much better with that context seen
I got to watch this in theatres and it was a great experience despite being mostly empty. I do feel bad though because I drank too much soda and I had to sit through the end like ‘if you’re going to kill her just do it stop dragging it out!’

I’m so happy that it’s confirmed that Uta is a canon character, but the movie itself isn’t canon. I’m hoping to see her in the canon story some day, perhaps accompanying Shanks to find the One Piece (I doubt she’ll have the Sing-Sing Fruit though)

maybe youve already seen this info before, but in the special art book (?) i got by going to the theater in the first week of the movie got released it said that shanks's haki is called "observation killer" that can prevent his opponent from seeing the future which sounds so fuckin dope (i apologize for my bad endlish im japanese)
i like the difference between kizarus and ryokugyus reaction to shanks haki. ryokugyu is like "oh shit, its shanks! im not tryna fight you today!" meanwhile kizaru just standing there smiling "oOOoOooooHhhh, so this is the power of shanks' haki..." kizaru is such a fuckin goon.

Man. One Piece. The one Anime that has gone on this long and just continued to get better and better with out losing its mind and going off the rails. its more popular then ever. Its story is better than ever. Its animation is better than ever. Its MOVIES are better than ever. BUT its characters are still the ones we all love.
The Story has not been up ended. The Goal is One Piece. But we just know more of what that means.
The Progression seems right. None of this All powerful enemy and MC getting this super powerful power that is un beatable but then in next series gets nerfed.
Its not my Fav anime. But it is the only one that has gone on this long that I like just as much or even more since its start. ( I was reading this back when it first came out in US Shonen Jump. Been A LONG time fan.)
