Fun fact! The woman who voices Uta in the english dub, AmaLee, is a youtuber who has done a ton of english covers of Japanese songs and anime openings, and she even did english covers for all of Uta’s songs from this movie!

I love AmaLee I remember falling asleep to her SAO covers as a kid man. Tons of nostalgia.
Uta is one of my favorite characters in one piece, its sad that lot of people hated her after the movie because of the scene of the hat (funny because everyone was loving her in the trailers). I think they should let it more clear how uta felt when she discovered she was the one that destroied Elegia: in one hand she had the many years of beliving that it was shanks dooing and the hope of all her fans and their expectations about her, and in other hand she has the truth that would destroy everything she belived, it crashed on her to want even more to creat this good perfect world for her people, as a way to try to show sorry for what she did back them. Her ideals were good, just the way she worked it out that was messed up, as the movie goes, it is clear as water that shes getting more crazy and unstable due to the wake mushrroms efect, it was already said that one of the efects of keeping the person awake was this instability of feelings so everything was confuse and messed up in her brain
Honestly my favorite scene is her manipulating the sleeping bodies. Namely due to the song and the line
“It’s a miracle of mercy you can’t stop it if you tried!”
This is her ideal, this is what she thinks of her mission. I am taking them from this world of pain and giving them a world where everything can be perfect

Uta still is a character I want to see more of. Her interactions with Luffy are amazing.
Hope she comes back in the anime, since the character and her powers are canon, but the movie isn't.
she is seen dead by the last few mins of the film. all the red hair pirates are seen around a coffin, all looking sad. She is dead :(

I loved that this movie added some context for Luffy being stubborn about having a musician on his crew.
For those sad with the ending, remember that this film isn't canon, Uta is still alive somewhere in the manga.
We might not hear much from her ever though, kinda like with Shiki.
I think she also shows in the anime as a kid tho

The best thing about this Movie was the Luffy and Uta interaction. It was like seeing Luffy acting like Sanji around her without the Ero love cook mode. Then we get to more about Shanks beyond his title as a Yonko and a glimpse of how strong he is. And the amazing aspect of this movie is definitely the music.

I watched film red for the first time about a week ago and I’ve listened to that song at least 20 times since then

The way Luffy behaves, the phrases that Uta says when saying goodbye, I want to believe that the fact that Luffy doesn't care about the romantic theme is because he has been in love with Uta since he was little.
Technically, the events of the film are not canon, but the characters are, from what was shown and said by Oda. So there is still the possibility that they meet, or that it is part of the ending that Luffy is looking for.
Hey Fun fact, Various angels in the bible created concepts and ideas that we enjoy today, Lucifer created music.

This is a movie made for theatrical experience and about the water weakness part its unreliable cause there is obs haki to dodge or it just makes you weak luffy used his attack even under water vs the kraken since this is a movie and luffy didn't want to fight its fine here
Loved this movie saw it twice in the Theaters sad that a lot of the fan base were so upset with amazing music, calling it just a musical.
The reason why the bucket of seawater weakened luffy was because they were in her world, her reality, where whatever she desires becomes reality. Sea water only affects devil fruit users if they get fully submerged in it.
Well… minding that seastone is just solidified seawater and showed up as early as Loguetown with Smoker, and can be used in cuffs but not obviously bullets, seawater still tracks as far as ‘weakening,’ but far from “I’m drowning” weakening.
@@alecLogan There's a massive difference between a sea stone and a bucket of seawater. The bucket water shouldn't have a lasting impact, so its effects should dissipate immediately. unlike the sea stone, which is cuffed to the devil fruit users. Both canonically and logically, it's implausible for a Devil Fruit user to be debilitated by a mere bucket of water.
@@alecLogan Oda also said that moving water, like rain or waves, does not weaken Devil Fruit users while standing water, like lakes or rivers, does.

Rain isn’t seawater, and clearly many feel _absurdly comfortable_ being seafaring people (whether that’s as pirates, navy, or other) so it can be presumed that sea spray doesn’t have the same effect. _However_ , for the purposes of the film, it’s both a hint and passable occurrence that buckets of seawater ‘worked’ when in reality none of them were even touching a body of water

13:05 yeah~ no. As you later are shown: this is all happening in a shared dream like world created by Uta. The water is more magical due to it not being real so this method wouldn't work since moving water like rain, showers or even splashes of water don't work on DF users, only bodies of water that are knee high or higher.

So I was thinking about this and I'm probably going to comment this on all the reactor i watch, for the latest one piece reaction. Would you mind holding off this week and posting a double the following week? I heard from a little birdie that 1071 is going to be THAT type of episode. Just a suggestion.
After talking it with my mods, it was decided that I'll release the episodes as per usual. This is for reasons regarding the amount of views and due to the fact that whatever will happen on today's episode will most likely be spoiled on all the thumbnails of other reactors I follow and I'm friends with.
A very divisive movie, I know some people loved it and others hated it, personally I think it needed to be longer, like a regular arc to explain things in more details and develop the story but I still enjoyed it nonetheless, the songs are bangers and I feel like Uta is the only romantic interest for Luffy haha. Uta became one of my mentally unstable waifus xD
I enjoyed this movie but I really wish we got to learn more about Shanks ngl

I really liked the movie, I don't think it's the best, but it's still really good. Uta as a character and a villain was quite unique, though I doubt Luffy could ever actually lose an eating contest I've seen him take weeks of food in half a second and I was thrown that Ado's voice is used even when she was a child, but having a sister character was interesting for Luffy, plus the songs are incredible; of the movie I think I like Backlight best (her vs the Straw Hats), but I do like them all, outside of the movie I also like Ashura-chan.
It's a shame a lot of people have to hold off if they didn't want to be spoiled on that thing (their wait is almost over) because I don't think the movie needed it necessarily, but it was cool to see the Red Haired Pirates get some action. Remember the name Figarland as well, it comes up in the manga, Uta is like Shiki in that she's a canon character but used primarily in a non-canon movie, she gets a single panel in the Manga with her silhouette in canon but that's about it so far.
But no, buckets would not work, same reason why rain and splashing waves don't work on DF users, has to be submersion, but I guess the workaround is that Uta's world Uta's rules. A slalom is a thing, common in skiiing

While I think the movie is good I still wish they had make 2 things diffrent nothing big though:
1- Using Brook more, he is a expert in music and his devil fruit power allows him to control his own soul. That he had such a small role in a musical movie were peoples souls were stolen is a little sad
2 - interaction between usopp and uta. I know hat luffy and uta had some history so the focus had to be on them. Yet I wish there were a small convisation between uta and usopp who kinda have something in comon (having a dad in the red hair pirates who left them). Kinda wish that they talked about it or that usopp had started calling her big sis something like that at the begin of the movie. Didnt even had to be a big conversation, a little small talk or small sidenote would to been enough.

I'll admit, the ending of this movie was a downer, to be sure. But, as is so often the case in One piece, Uta's story was essentially a tragedy. And as I'd heard it said once, "part of a tragedy is seeing just how much a few different decisions would have changed everything". Yet, we were forced to sit back and watch helplessly as everyone involved in Uta's fall consistently made the wrong choices at every turn.
Well...except Luffy, of course.

Honestly? The people crying "Spoilers!" about Gear 5 in Film RED are nuts. It's a literal "blink and you miss it" reference, and it would fly over the heads of anyone without prior knowledge.
That said, I wouldn't have recommended going to see it in theaters if you weren't caught up to the Manga at the time. Never know when some asshat in the audience would bring more attention to it and potentially spoil someone who is Anime only.
Agreed. I’ve always thought spoilers were only really spoilers if they include context as to what they’re about. Seeing a character die can obviously be a big spoiler, but a brief flash of something with no context isn’t imo.

I remember watching this in theaters and just thinking no matter what she has to die even until the end. Does that make me heartless? 😂
For me, out of tune 😅 that since it is a one piece movie where the enemy is a demonic power from a musical dream world, they did not show something, not even in the final credits, of scratchmen apoo given the power of his fruit (and I'm not a big fan of apoo), my only complaint about all of One Piece so far.
Sorry you were spoiled allona on g5. It sucks because seeing it happen in the manga when it did was the best thing.

That is half the truth, since most of the Japanese audience knew full-well who Ado is, it was pretty well known it was going to be a musical movie.
No cap only reason I didn’t like the movie is cause of uta and her character she creep me out and was weird the longer the movie went on couldn’t understand anything she was doing or saying and just made me hate her character by the end🤦🏽♂️wish it was a different villain for the movie cause I loved Shiki,Z,Bullet felt I was gonna feel the same about this one but I didn’t she became the worse in all op movies for me hope I don’t see her in the story again cause she’s a no for me
