The 50mm Apo-Lanthar was my first M lens for my M10-R. Great lens no regrets! I use it as well on my SL2 and performs as well as on the M10R, no issues. 😊
Thanks for your honest opinion. Just purchased this lens for my Nikon Zf. Just Wow. 🤩 Best 50mm lens I had. Even compared to the Nikon S-Line 50mm 1.8.
I bought this on your recommendation for my M10R and it is a fabulous lens - I love the colour rendition. So natural. 4 50mm lenses and this is my second favourite (first is the 0.95 Noctilux).
I have the lens also, so I totally understand your excitement. I feel the same. 🙂 I was thinking about buying the 35 APO but now I will take a closer look at the Ultron.
2:41 That "click" in the focusing you are describing is an issue that I got from a brand new copy of this lens I bought from Cameraquest. I sent it in for repair on warranty and it turned out to be a defect with the focusing heloid of the lens. I got the repair on warranty. Now knowing that others experience this too, I would guess this is a quality control issue with sample variation.
This is one lens that quality control was not an issue (in 99% of the copies out there) but there were a few that slipped by. The new 75 1.9 seems to be the worst in QC issues but hopefully they fixed that hiccup.
I shoot the 28/2 & 35/2 Ultron II lenses on my M10 and just love them. Recently sold my Zeiss 50/2 Planar and now in the market for a 50 and this is on my short list... Looking at the LLL Elcan also..
The Voigtlander 50mm F2 APO is the best lens I own for the Nikon Z system, and I own several Nikon S lenses. They are all excellent lenses, but I agree with you that APO lens will stay with me forever.
That lens really is special. Strangely enough, despite its less than perfect nature, I still find myself using the 50 Summicron on my M11 - more than I thought I would.
@@kaskoPhoto I'd love to try both the Summicron and the Voigtlander on an M11 or even and a mono M10, but my budget only allows for the Nikon Z system. I keep waiting for my lottery numbers to hit, (taps my feet) still waiting.
I have all the best Leica lenses, including the 50 Lux (and now 28 Lux!). I like this lens better than the Lux on my M10r. The 50 Lux stays orange-filtered on my M10m.
You are probably right but I am having so much fun trying different lenses on this system and discovering what works for me on this body… I’m not sure if I have it nailed down yet 😂

It’s def great on the M system, I’m sure it’s as good on the SL
the Voigtlander Z mount glass is gorgeous-got the 50 Nokton and 35 Apo Lanthar for my ZF-beautiful.
Really have to try the Z mount on the ZF!
@@kaskoPhoto If you do, then please compare the M version with the Z version on the Nikon!
OK. You’ve convinced me! I have one on order. I’m really looking forward to it.
Please let me know what you think once you use it. Spoiler alert, you’re going to love it.
I also LOVE the 50mm Voigtlander APO L; Both on my m and on the SL2/S with adapter.
It is spectacular on both systems.

I agree 100%! I do like the Z 50 1.8 but side by side there is no comparison.
Thanks for convincing me to spend more money 😂😉
Really not sorry about that, you are going to absolutely love this lens, so I don’t feel bad.
@@kaskoPhoto 😁I get it today 😉
Mine arrives today. Have it in the Z and it’s compelling.
I would like to try it in Z

You don’t mind the weight of the Noct?
@@kaskoPhoto it’s a beast - not my everyday lens but when I use it I just love the creamy rendering.

The APO is spectacular but is a little bigger (relative to an M lens) but the Ultron is a damn good lens and won’t disappoint

@@MichaelCantwell Well the Z system is absolutely incredible - you could do much worse. 😂
@@kaskoPhoto I know. I'm very pleased with it, but I always seem to have gas for some reason :)

You should try it on an SL2 as well! It’s fantastic. I used the 35 APO with the Leica M Adapter L. Flawless.
I think the 35 Apo is absolutely beautiful, on the M, I would just like it a little smaller. 😂
Very VERY interested in this lens, but it's never going to release in L-mount, and I've heard that it loses the edge off m-mount.
I haven’t seen the loss when it’s adapted to L or Z mount. But it is a spectacular lens.
Good news -- I'd love to see some of your L-mount images with it :) @@kaskoPhoto
I definitely plan to get it on Z mount
I’m going to try the native Z mount for sure.
What exactly is is it so good for? Is it all about sharpness? Would you compare it to the 40mm f1.2... You have reviewed it if i am not wrong..))
It is clinical and perfectly corrected. For many of my commercial shoots, it’s exactly what my clients want.
Is it “clinically sharp” (ie, too unpleasingly sharp) like some of the Sony lenses?
No, but it doesn’t have any significant optical flaws that one typically sees in a $1000 lens.
I don’t find it an obnoxiously sharpe render at all. I do know what you’re talking about, and I just don’t see it with this lens
How do you find the focusing without the focus tab
Don’t get me wrong, I love the focus tab. But I really really never think about the focusing when using that lens, it just works for me.
Need to show annual lens lineup😅

Getting high and squint on the APO Lanthar
Not sure what you meant…
