Its so sad that Gambit never knew Rogue chose him in the end.
So much this. And Rogue desperately trying to feel him at the end. Unsure if it's because my heart was recently broken or if this ep just hits hard on it's own.

The MCU might be struggling with their story-telling in recent movies... but I am so glad Marvel Studios has managed to raise the bar with this series. This episode literally hit me like a truck 😭

@@davidthirugnanakumar7888 i get the feeling cartoons have more freedom then live action movies. Too many fingers in the pie with movies that dilute the storytelling. Its like the studios don't value it as much for success/revenue, and the consequence is more freedom. With flagship projects, the producers, financiers etc chop and change things till the story is broken.
MCU is nothing more than cringe jokes pointed at the camera like its fucking SNL
X-men 97 is more mature in tone and dialogue than any of the shitty MCU movies made for toddlers and soccer moms

THE TRAGIC SITUACION OF ROGUE MISTAKES regarding love are so deep and moving. FIRST there are the retorics about Gambit and Rogue relationship. ROGUE saying "I cant touch you, so I cant feel you", but Remy saying "THERE ARE DEEPER THINGS THAN SKIN TOUCH TO FEEL", also the fact KURT told Gambit "HE FELT GAMBIT AND ROGUE SOULS TOUCHES EACH OTHER THROUGH EYES". Just for Rogue to realize that when she Touches Magneto "THAT DOESNT FEEL AS DEEPER AS REMYS FEELINGS". Just to at the end, when she finally touches Remy's Skin, the one thing she tought it was required "to feel him", SHE NOTICES SHE CAN'T FEEL HIM ANYMORE, BECAUSE HIS SOUL IS GONE 😭😭😭😭... so tragic OMG...

The main reason the watcher is watching is probably just because it’s a major event and he’s making sure it’s staying in check, it also probably means its a nexus event which is why Cable can’t stop it no matter how many times he trys.
I’m devastated right now… But, this is the X-men (Animated or live action) I’ve always wanted as an adult ❤
The stakes are definitely high with the characters more like themselves in this one.

This episode was...... The Watcher, the comment on leaders and terrorists, the love and sin, the cut to black- the parallels to recent events and pain. I'm still processing everything but wow
And then you mix that with scenes that have utter silence on background music. It makes things more dire and morbid.
Wolverine and Gambit (and Magneto, even though he didn’t get third wheeled until the end) being peak male role models in this episode is *chefs kiss*

Traditionally speaking: There are roughly 16 million mutants killed in Genosha.
It’s also established that 20 million mutants died before Genosha.
Then of course, in the comics decimation occurs, where all but 300 mutants lost their powers. 99.8% lost their powers.
Mathematically, 50ish million mutants have lost their lives. Within the last decade and a half in comics.
Where is that 20 million figure from? I know it wasn’t that many in the Morlock tunnels. 🤣

Fortunately the aftermath footage shows only half of the city is a burning wreck, which really gives me hope the causalties aren't as high as the comics.
Which is also why I find it difficult to believe that there werent any other omega level mutants that could help against Sentinal Hydra.

When I saw Rogue touching his face without her gloves, I gasped. I knew he was gone. This episode was too tier. This is the best show on TV hands down.
After kissing Magnetto, Rogue apparently realized that she didn't feel anything more for him, and quoted Remy's words. Magnetto's dead body was not shown to us, perhaps he somehow managed to survive. As for Gambito, it seems obvious to me that Cable's goal will be to prevent this massacre once again

Re: Magneto. Leech, whose power is to turn off powers in his vicinity, was holding him. It’s possible that Leech did so, and the Sentinels were no longer sensing and and reading him as ‘neutralized’.

I think both Jean and Madelyn's psychic reactions were of them having visions of the coming destruction.

I caught something on a rewatch of everything. In episode 1 when Madelyne (as Jean) has the flashback using Cerebro, the song playing when she has the horrible vision is a slowed down version of "Happy Nation" the Ace of Base song during the party. Small touches make this brilliant
And the Watcher in the sky above the gala. That was when the dread settled in

THE FORESHADOWING IN THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD!!! Remember in Episode 1 when Madelyne read Guyrick’s mind? She saw a gigantic devil sentinel and the song at the ball was playing… damn this show is so good!!

This part... the way that hit me.
I noticed the reference with Cyclops, Madelyn Pryor's psychic entanglement with Jean grey finding out, kinda like that whole drama with Cyclops, Jean, and Emma Frost from the comics. But this time, they switched it up with Madelyn instead of Emma. And Emma's knowing smirk? Total psychic power move, like she's got the inside scoop on everything

Brilliant. Never thought we'd see the E is for extinction plot so quickly. Was actually stronger here as we saw what happened on the ground. Also mixing in Scott's pyschic affair plot with Madeline instead of Emma is really clever writing.

Sixteen million mutants were killed in Genosha during that attack in the comics.

The one time Rouge touches Gambit but he's dead. 😢
With the Wolverine pulling away from Jean thing, I really don't think that was because fear, it def surprised him for sure, but he pulled away bc she was vulnerable and not thinking straight, he didn't want to take advantage of the situation as much as he'd love for Jean to love him like he loves her, he knew it was just a moment of weakness, and treated it as such playing the good man role despite everything in his being wanting what was happening to keep happening.
This is based on a comic story where Genosha was destroyed by a unique sentinel that was controlled by Cassandra Nova. In the comics, this is also what led to Emma Frost gaining the ability to turn into diamond (which is how she survived the destruction of Genosha). In the comics, I think the casualties were in the millions. Also in the comics, the sentinel was kept in a hidden place that had AI evolution (basically sentinels designing even better sentinels) and there were even nano-sentinels that killed mutants like a virus or bacteria.
Really hope they bring Emma into the fold and she wasn't just a reference in this episode
I believe Emma survived this we only saw Shaw lying on the floor dead so she might have survived the blast
@@Skyepool Yeah they didn't show her dead body this episode (only Dazzler next to Shaw), & the frantic pace of this series means we just might just get diamond skin Emma in the next episode. I mean, she develops her secondary mutation after the Genoshan Massacre.
Also, WHY the F*CK did Magneto let Leech hug him?!?! He needed his FULL POWER to protect them all at that moment. Some other useless Morlock should've been holding Leech back. Or actually kick him unconscious (like Emma did in the comics) so his powers don't affect any mutant fighting for their lives at that pivotal moment.
This. Plus, they mixed in some of the Mutant Massacre story with some of the Morlocks biting the dust.

When rogue went to attack the sentinel and there’s light shimmering through her tears as she flies through them. Amazing!
I don't know what I expected when I hit play on the episode this morning, but it wasn't anything this intense. Easily the best episode so far!
Without spoiling too much, in the comics that Sentinel was the product of another Master Mold. So the one they destroyed in the first episode was not the last as they thought.
Master Mold is more of an AI in the end. It will probably come back bigger and stronger than this.
Rogue always want touch Gambit, and now she can touch him. But, Gambit doesn't know if Rogue choose him than Magneto

Not a dry eye in the place. A few things to note:
1. Magneto can create and travel through wormholes. He did so to save Wanda from the Avengers before House of M. Magneto and at least Leech survived that attack.
2. The Morlocks had a healer and Archangel at some point will have healing abilities in his blood like in the comics. Gambit will return.
3. Logan/James Howlett a.k.a. Wolverine is a man of honor. Jean is married and he will never encroach on that. No matter what the new comics featuring terrorist clones appropriating the X-Men name did.
This hit harder than episode 2. 😢

Live-action MCU has been missing this level of courage for a long time. They packed in an Infinity-War level of emotion into five minutes.
Its all about actual good storytelling and dialogue. I dont know why they kill it in animation and just can't do the same thing with their live action stuff. This episode was a 10 out of 10.

If you notice. When Rouge was about to fly towards the centinal after Magneto saved them. You hear the heartbeat, and you see Gambit react to what Rouge was about to do in 2 heartbeats. He loved her so much that he already knew what she would do, and he knew he had to save her

This entire eps. was an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish.

If only the indigenous could all join together, they were fighting each other in wars killing each other to .. wasn't all peaches and cream.. stuff like that, happens pretty much everywhere on earth you can see examples of people killing each other for no reason or just for land.. I have respect for both sides. My ancestors had nothing to do with either, but I respect what the struggles both sides had to go through.

No need. The X-Men and Morlocks have had healers over the years. This Massacre needed to happen to drive Magneto back to status quo and get the X-Men back into focus as well. Gambit will be fine and Magneto survived. The only real thing I’m blown about is my man Banshee biting the dust. 😭

I was in shock. What did Magneto say in German? There wasnt a scene that showed he was dead. Yes, the Sentinel said it… Perhaps him & Leech and others were vaporized or pushed further into the ground but protected? They captured Magneto’s emotional PTSD from concentration camps. What signified the use differences in Green vs Red plasma blast? Gambits charge of body / Fall of the House of X “One last trick” / Rise of the Powers of X #1?

I'm hoping one of the other mutant created a force field to protected all of them from the blast and Leech turn off Magnets and the other's powers so three headed MASTER MODE couldn't detect and gave it a false reading that the OMEGA-LEVEL threat was eliminated....fingers cross.
@@jlo1195 I was SCREAMING: "LEECH, GET THE F*CK AWAY FROM MAGNETO!!!!!" & thinking why did Magneto let Leech hug him?!?! He needed his FULL POWER to protect them all at that moment. Some other useless Morlock should've been holding Leech back. Or actually kick him unconscious (like Emma did in the comics ) so his powers don't affect any mutant fighting for their lives at that pivotal moment. But yeah, Leech might've tricked the Sentinel.
Also, they didn't show Emma's dead body this episode (only Dazzler next to Shaw), & the frantic pace of this series means we just might just get diamond skin Emma in the next episode. I mean, we all know she developed her secondary mutation that saved her from the Genoshan Massacre.
I see that I wasn't the only one to cry, my husband looked at me like he was saying, "You're crazy, why are you crying about this?" I was devastated with this chapter =(

Wolverine backing off after the kiss is something I would struggle to do. And I can easily self insert, in a similar situation, minus the kiss.
Gambit wanting to stay friends until her heart gets broken was how I previously kept playing it. And might one last time.

The MCU has some big shoes to fill with the X-men and whatever they decide to do with them. Deadpool and Wolverine will be a truly defining moment for the MCU going forward. We shall see what they decide to do.
Something I noticed. When Val Cooper confronted the council at the gala about Magneto being appointed Chancellor, she got real quiet and was invested in what Rogue's decision was...
Why was Val Cooper so interested in that?

That was the Tri-Sentinel. When I was a kid and started collecting comics, my first Amazing Spider-Man issue was #350, with Dr. Doom. The second was #351, with Nova and the Tri-Sentinel. I remember little to nothing about those issues, but I definitely don't remember it being even remotely that terrifying. This episode was unreal. Fixing it is now up to Cable.

Just the sound effects alone gave me goosebumps. From the Ace of Base song that fit so well and how it faded as Cable shows up to the voice of the mega Sentinel to the sound of the laser beam sounding very Futurama like to the sound of Magnito’s powers (wawawawawa). So good!
Gambit has been my favorite X-Man since I was a kid. To say the ending of this episode wrecked me would be an understatement. Here's to hoping Cable can fix this.

I keep wondering if the Omega level threat the Sentinels detected was actually Cable saving Magneto. But I think they only register that when mutants go all Super Saiyan mode, so I may have to rewatch the episode.
