Magneto is THAT GUY. HIGHEST tier of villain just immediately out of the gate. Incredible speeches. Fascinating nuanced perspective. Just really awesome. I LOVE mutant stories they’re so thought provoking.
They never acknowledge Rogue and magneto having a relationship in the old show but that is absolutely from the comics and it’s not just from age of apocalypse either it goes all the way back to the early 90s.

Uh... Storm's voice is PERFECT. It hasn't changed a bit. Beast's voice aswell. Wolverine and Rogue mght be the slightly shakey ones but they still sound like themselves. And personally, if they had gotten new people for everyone, it wouldn't have mattered to me but I'm glad they got back everyone they could. The new Cyclops voice actor is doing a phenomenal job of sounding like Norm Spencer who orginally played Cyclops put passed away. This show is gonna be awesome. You can see the passion and love in it. And the fact that they're already working on season 2 is beautiful.
Doesn't anyone remember that in the comics Roque and Magneto have a whole child together.. and his powers are a combination of theirs to where everything he touches turns to metal
Honestly? These 2 eps were PERFECT. My only gripe is that I can hear the age for Rogue and Wolverine’s actors and that kind of hurt my immersion a little. Not a skill thing, the actors are just as awesome as they ever were, I can just hear the age. A minor thing overall. They NAILED this show so far. The Storm stuff is setting up to be an excellent character study, and Magneto is AMAZING in this. This old millennial is very, VERY happy.

In the comics, Sinister made a clone of Jean called Madelyn Pryor, who is the mother of Cable. Also in the comics, Magneto and Rogue *did* have a relationship together. Especially because Magneto is the only person to be able to touch Rogue without her powers activating on him. In the original cartoon, they adapted some of the comic storylines, but obviously with decades and decades of lore and stories, they didn’t adapt them all. They’re simply adapting some more comic-book lore into this new season. That’s all.

The only time I noticed something 3D model-looking was when the ferris wheel was coming down and Magneto fixed it. Seriously, this series looks amazing.
I love watching you get hit with the nostalgia from the theme song the EXACT same way that I did. This show is an enormous part of my childhood, and I'm glad this continuation seems to be getting off on the right foot.
13:30 I figure the claws are strong enough to stay together and not explode, but Wolverine's fists and arms probably would. He just grows em back (off camera of course to keep it PG). You can even see his costume all messed up in the next shot when it wasn't before. I bet he was all kinds of messed up when he landed, but just walked it off.
The one thing I wish they stayed more true to the original was that they show Cyclops using his powers like he does in the movies. Tapping his visor and emitting the blasts. In the original he didn't. I guess it was their way of linking fans of those two together. I'm lost in any connection between Rogue and Magneto. We'll just have to see what they do with that. That was a huge curve-ball at the end with another Jean.
That is absolutely 2D hand-drawn, from the fine folks at Studio Mir 😊 They are not 3D models, only some prop animation is 3D. For those not aware, Studio Mir did Legend of Korra, Young Justice: Outsiders & Phantoms, My Adventures With Superman, Voltron: Legendary Defender, and Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion.
There may be some small scenes that are still 2D animated but in all of the action scenes the characters are 100% 3D models with 2D filtering. Mir does 3D animation as well and have been including it even in their 2D work for years beyond just props and it's never not noticeable.
Yeah you can tell just from comparing this to their other work that there are absolutely 3D models being used especially in the action scenes. That’s still very impressive animation so idk why people act like it’s bad to do this method when it’s achieving great visuals

Madeline Pryor is going to be revealed. I guess that means we're getting more Mr. Sinister and maybe the Inferno storyline. Storm losing her powers happened by Gyrich in the comics and she ends up leading the Morlocks. I don't think the appearance of the Morlocks this episode was coincidence.
It's an excellent 2D/3D blend. But more 2D than 3D. Sometimes you can't even tell because the 2D animation has such fluid and consistent frames that it could look 3D. The artists and animatirs did an amazing job and I see it only getting better.

Yeah, one of the writers for the show apparently had Cyclops as his main in MvC2 and a lot of the stuff we see Cyclops do in the show, like using his beam as a mobility tool, is because it was part of his kit in that game. Wanted to show us why Cyclops "is his anchor". And boy is it awesome =D
Great video as always! I loved these first two episodes and can’t wait for more. I am really interested to see what they do with the newest love triangle of Magneto, Rouge, & Gambit. Gambit charging Wolverine’s claws seems similar to when he charges his bo staff. It doesn’t explode, only the thing it comes in contact with explodes. So the staff and claws hold the energy charge and then release it when they come in contact with something. My guess is his claws would’ve eventually exploded if Wolverine hadn’t transferred the energy to Master Mold’s head/neck.
It is going to be interesting to figure out which is which since Jean in episode 1 knew intimate details of the times she spent with Scott. If they follow the comics then Madelyn has really done her homework.
i do want to clarify that (in the directors words) this is full 2d hand-drawn animation, now when it comes to the sentinels i cant say for sure. but yeah this is not using cgi this is hand drawn. they not only have access to disney animators but a secondary studio known as Mirror is also helping animate this show and they are very skilled animators so yeah, there are some scenes where i can see someone thinking its cgi, but there are animators out their that are just that good
Adamantium is practically indestructible so Gambit’s powers can’t blow it up. However, if the energy went through all of Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton it should have caused serious internal injuries given explosions would have happened inside him.
Wolverine transfer the kinetic energy explode onto MASTER MOLD's neck and it exploded taking his head off clean....Wolverine healed the injury from the explosion as you can see his shirt all ripped off at the end.

I originally didn't like it cause I was still thinking of this show as a kid show from the 90's that never hinted at this. It's still that, but so much more. It's now an opportunity to touch on some dark and interesting comic plots that they couldn't do in the 90's.
I respect them for bringing back this many of the original voice cast, but you can hear the age in the Rogue voice. Now she just sounds like she came from the set of Designing Women...🤷♀️😬

I’m loving it so far, and seeing Scott shown as an actual master tactician is sweet. Magneto and Rogue were an item in the comics for years and years. Nothing presented in these first two episodes is anything new that wasn’t already established a long time ago in the comics, including Jean’s clone (Madelyn Pryor) and baby Cable.

Ya, I think they used cg to properly scale the sentinels. In the 90's series, their size, and proportion, were all over the place.
The Magneto/Rogue thing is a nod to the Age of Apocalypse comics.
They had a brief romantic moment years before that in the Savage Land

Anyone else getting Children of the Atom/Marvel Vs Capcom feelings whenever Cyclops fights? They flawlessly captured hand to hand combat combined with his optic powers. Amazing start to this series.
Looks like they're setting up new moves for it. :D
They 100% are using game moves for some choreography. Apparently they wanted to use the spin kick for Cyclops but got axed early.

Magneto and Rogue were an item in the comics for years and years.
Nothing presented in these first two episodes is anything new that wasn’t already established a long time ago in the comics, including Jean’s clone (Madelyn Pryor) and baby Cable.
Good thing it's mostly for people who don't read comics.
