Cyclops, this whole season, had such good dialogue. Loved when he tells Logan "Don't you dare break her heart. Be the best at what you do....heal"...he knows how much he cares for her, and is the bigger man in that moment knowing it's what he needs to hear.
Also the alias easter eggs in Magneto's file: Ian M & Michael F
Jean , Scott, Logan thruple for 97 :o
There was 5 names for Magneto: Magnus, Erik Lensher, Ian M(redacted), Micheal F(redacted), and David Hemblen (the VA for Magneto in the orignal series).
@@foulrot yes, but I’m specifically just pointing out the film adaptations
Right? Honestly, I didn't even like Scott at first. My first contact with X Men was through X Men Evolution and he was so boring 💀 but X Men 97 had me enjoying him much more than I thought I would.
@@atari303 I know, I just thought the VA deserved to be mentioned too.
Rouge’s full disrespect with the Hulk-clap to Bastion’s face 🔥🔥🔥
Rogue had a special F-- YOU just for Bastion.
Magneto was given one job this season, spit bars
To me, my Peaches!
Yesss!!! 🎉
This comment wins youtube…
I've missed a few reactions, is this a reference to Blue Eye Samurai
WahahhHahahahahahahahahah
@@alex.bradfordhaha, thanks!
We all went into this season just expecting some awesome nostalgia good feels and we walked away with the single best season of any show ever made. Every. Single. Episode was a banger.
I would argue that Episode 4 was it's weakest. Not saying that it was bad, but compared to the rest, it was ok.
@@crimsonghoul8983 I thought it was a good episode, just sadly sandwiched between two really good episodes; had episode 4 been episode 2 or 3 it would have held its own a little better.
@@foulrot The structure of Episode 4 was technically 2 episodes sandwiched in one. The first part of it felt nostalgic and fun, while the other part was story heavy. I guess it was set up in a way to provide an equal balance instead of feeling like a filler episode, and it worked for the most part. But if anyone binge watches the series, they can immediately get the feeling I did.
@@crimsonghoul8983I'd have liked if life death was one episode, but that would put the Charles episode with Motendo and that feels like an even worse fit. Motendo was needed to show Jubilee's growth for this finale, its just hard to find the perfect spot to insert it among all these heavy hitter episodes.
@@crimsonghoul8983i find Prof X in a schoolroom lecturing us more cringe than Jubilee in a retro 90a game. But when that’s one’s worst episode, that’s a damn fine season of television.
X-Men '97 goes harder in 40 minutes, than most movies go in 2 and a half hours.😮 ❤🎉
SO TRUE!!
Say It Again For The People In The Back... 👍
“This is…” “the coolest thing Marvel’s ever done ever?!” Agree, this show rocks so hard❤️🔥
So many points caused tears in this episode for me, from screaming "Remember it!!!!" With Rouge to Scott and Jean's goodbye to Nathan followed by the tearful visor off blast by Cyclops. Cyclops has gained so much respect from me during the course of this season every badass moment just hit so well including the MvC nod with the full power boost in the beam struggle. Gonna find me the comics to read up on him for sure now
Yeah, they made Cyclops cool.
His reaction when he finds out Cable was hurt by Bastion.
@@JohnGraves1985 I know the comic fans say this constantly, but he was always cool. The Fox movies just threw him under the bus for Logan.
13:24. Polaris was also on board. To Rogue's left.
“What happens when a mall baby chili fries” absolutely killed me dead 🤣💀
Mashing up two different X-Memes in glorious cheese.
“We’re reactors, we don’t HAVE to know everything,” he said, all-knowingly.
Storm giggling with glee when she sees Phoenix rise was everything 😁
Demayo confirmed Morph has feelings for Logan. Mother Askani/Rachel Summers is Jean and Scott’s daughter from an alternate reality. Season 3 without Beau Demayo concerns me a little but hopefully still amazing
Beau DeMayo recently said he's not nearly as involved in season 2 either. 😭
@@JayB-xx5pkWell, I really hope it does good.. If not, I'll be @ HQ
Fun fact, Gates McFadden (Dr Crusher from Star Trek TNG) was the voice of Mother Askani (hooded lady in the future who speaks to Jean and Scott).
I'm glad I'm not the only one who knows that.❤❤❤❤
hooded lady is Rachel Summers :D
One of TV's *other* most iconic redheads of the 1990s 😍
@enfrike1850 they managed to declutter the entire cyclops/madelyn/ Jean and cable backstory massively. I'm hoping that they can do the same for Rachel's backstory.
"One of these days it's going to be a Stargate"
3000 B.C.
"It's TIME!!!!"
Heck, even in the far future it almost looked like a Stargate behind Nathan
“One of these days its gonna be a stargate Jay, and its gonna be soooo cool” followed by asteroid M becoming a stargate was one of the best set up and payoff story-archs this season. I fell out of my chair laughing.
I have been such a massive X-Men fan for 30+ years, and this show is everything I've always wanted. I'm blown away.
I'm commenting before I watch to guess Jay is gonna roll those tears when Cyclops says bye to Cable
“Yeah he’s starting to blink red”. Brilliant.
Jay's opening theme lyrics are the sort of thing we used to get on dvd commentaries. Now it's free for all on RUclips, and I think we've greatly improved as a society.
Since you mentioned it Adam, The Pirates of Dark Water is definitely the next 90’s cartoon that needs to be resurrected
The pilot with Roddy McDowall as Niddler shows so much potential, and the whole concept was dumbed and watered down (no pun intended) when it went to series. There's a grimier, alien fantasy world hidden in there, more akin to Heavy Metal, that could be expanded and explored.
The Sega Genesis game is also a hidden gem of a platformer, with great music and low-key spooky vibes.
Not really. SWAT Kats on the other hand...
I can't believe how badly y'all are misspelling "Gargoyles"
"His name was Gambit, remember it."
This line, the composition of the shot, just everything was so god damn perfect.
Get Adam an ApocaLIPS Shirt, stat. Also, Adam was right, at the end of the episode, It became a Stargate. They were literally transported to ancient Egypt, run by a mutant with alien tech, and fought jackal headed & bird headed warriors.
And fun fact about the comic run where Gambit is Death, Polaris (Magnetos other daughter seen on the boat) is Pestilence. Gambits also the one who beats Apocalypse by weaponizing the air in his lungs. I’m all for seeing Rogue save Remy, and them fight side by side, lovers reunited.
Yeah and Wolverine is gonna be War (it's how he gets his adamantium back)! It's going to be awesome!
@@johnathanmartin1504 Either Wolverine or Gazer, but I think wolverine would be the better choice (plus its not just a chance for him to get his Crome back, but to get organic Adamantium). I hope Pyro becomes Famine instead of Sunfire, because Pyro using his powers to bend the flames that characters like Sunspot & The Human Torch generate would be awesome and terrifying. But part of me thinks we are gonna get more than 4 horsemen. If the x-men are dealing with Apocalypse in the past, present, and future…Maybe we get 4 in each era.
I just KNEW Jay would get emotional at the Cable, Scott, and Jean goodbye scene
So am I only only one that interpreted Morph saying "I love you", as Jean, to Wolverine was actually them saying their own feelings for Logan?
Definitely not the only one
Oh no; that’s almost certainly what was happening I think. They’ve handled the unrequited love storyline with Morph so beautifully and gracefully so far.
No, you are not. In fact, the showrunner confirmed that that was the actual meaning of that scene. And that the reason why Morph became Jean was because Jean is the one who Wolverine loves.
No that’s exactly what I thought it was too, because that’s exactly what it was
Obviously
Morph: Looks the same to me!! They applied cold water to the burn Phoniex Jean gave Mr. Sinister.
Everything with scott and magneto made me cry this episode, between magnetos constant trauma and fear of going through another genocide and scotts growth as a leader and father, both of his screams when he foes the laser blast this episode just chills. And the soundtrack jist, this is damn good television
"we can share the pickle", got me, damnit Jay.
That was a solid reply.
Jays laughter the last 45 seconds was incredible. Impossible not to put a smile on your face and it’s infectious. Thank you for that much needed laugh and smile
24:12 It's T'Challa's father, T'Chaka.
Seeing all the cameos, i thought "Adam is gonna have a heart attack. "
Shout out to the Newton brothers. I couldn’t even count the number of variations they did to the main theme, but that final one with like the opera singer… *chefs kiss*
Cyclops crying when he fired his beam at the ene....that got me
The fact that you decided to bring back "lips" for the finale is chef's kiss!
Someone zoomed in on the Magneto file on President Kelly's desk. Under aliases it listed: "Ian M" and "Michael F". Lovely little nod to McKellen and Fassbender...
The nostalgia from when watching this on Saturday mornings and watching this 25 years later is sureal. The new season is by far for the adults that grew up watching x-men. 10/10!
This series was like watching a comic book every week. So much epicness episode after episode. Definitely the best thing Marvel has produced since Endgame.
Does everyone saying "best since Endgame" just forget that Loki existed in that time too?
@@foulrot I like 97 more than Loki but Loki is good too
@@foulrotAlso spider man
@@foulrot Loki was the best, or at least one of the best since Endgame. Then XMen 97 came along and took that #1 spot.
When Rogue said, "His name was Gambit. Remember it!" and punched Bastion I nearly jumped out of my chair. In my head I was channeling Adam when they watched Andor. Give him the Rogue! Rogue to the face! You got Rogued!
I founded your channel though X-Men 97 reactions. You guys very fun to watch. Glad I found you.❤️
Came for the X-Men, stick around for Bluey, Vox Machina, Andor, One Piece, What If...?, Moon Knight, WandaVision, Hawkeye, and all the other awesome stuff they've covered!
What a phenomenal season of Marvel Television! This season and finale were absolutely incredible, and it really had it all! Great writing, jaw-dropping animation, masterful music, amazing voice acting performances, brilliant pacing, respect for the original source material/90s animated series, and lots of fun/really cool Cameos and Easter Eggs for the fans to enjoy! I'm so excited/hyped for Season 2 and will be counting down the days! This finale and the whole season get a 100/10 from me!
Love that the lip joke had its own season arc lol
Best compliment to the creators of this damn beautiful show, and my oh my I just can't stop appreciating that bromance of Eric & Charles.
Easily one of the greatest series of all time, as a side note, you two are my favorite reactors hands down!
I just wanna thank you guys for making me feel like a human. having something to watch like this very tasteful thank you so much
X-Men97 deserves an Emmy
Wicked finale to a damn-near flawless season. This series set a pretty high bar, not just for future MCU titles and even future seasons... but just future iterations of the on-screen X-Men. I know we're all pretty stoked for Deadpool Vs. Wolverine, and the X-Men's eventual introduction to the live-action MCU, but honestly all of those will have the tough task of following this show up in terms of providing a definitive version of the X-Men on screen. Watching this show on a weekly basis just really made me realize just how much the Fox X-Men movies had failed to do over 20 years of entries, even with phenomenal entries like "Logan" and "Days of Future Past." This show just really successfully showcasesdthe plight of the X-Men and Mutants on a global scale, and treated it with such respect and dire, and made us feel how unsafe the world they live in really is. Not only that, but unlike the live-action films, the show was also able to showcase just how cool the multiple members of the X-Men who aren't called "Wolverine," really are. Truly a treat for longtime X-Men fans. Considering the show that it is continuing from, this really felt like a kids show that was allowed to grow up into something that really wasn't for kids anymore.
Animation is truly the best medium not just for the XMen, but the superhero genre in general. I really wish we'd get more animated projects like this.
@@JessAnderson1988 This so hard. I think there are some street-level heroes that can work exceptionally well for live action, like Daredevil, Batman and the sort, but live action is eventually going to get hamstrung by budget concerns with superpowers and have to be stupid to work around not using them when the characters should. Animation allows you to show what the characters should do every step of the way. There's a reason anime is so popular, it allows so much more diversity as a medium.
@@Kanriel Agreed. Plus no matter what, live action is always going to be held back by the fact that it has to look and feel real. Animation only has to feel believable within the context of its world, and benefits greatly from the fact that it doesn't have to look or be realistic by live action standards. In animation, literally anything is possible.
Get ready for the inevitable moment Rogue has to tell Horseman Gambit "Your name is Gambit, remember it!"
24:20 - 24:41 *nods enthusiastically*
Also, when Adam looks at Jay and thinks, " Does Jay know what may be coming? No? I wont ruin it, I am so excited for my brother to figure it out and be Uber excited!" Is a feeling I have had with my lil brother (20 year difference between us) as he watches these reactions and the show. This freaking animation is bridging generations together and asking us to think and be better. More plz now and ty in advance!
This series completely blew away my eXpectations. I'm just so very happy with it. Really looking forward to season 2🔥
This is probably the best season finale ever. I can't wait for season 2: attack of apoca-lips. I REGRET NOTHING
Your reactions made this season even better for me. Thanks guys!
Mother Adkani, who was the old lady in the robe in the future, and as others have pointed out was guests voiced by the fabulous Gates, is Rachel Summers, Scott and Jean's daughter from an alternate dystopian future where she was a hound hunting other mutants. There's a whole thing with this crazy cyborg named Ahab who runs the hounds and works for the sentinels in that timeline and then when Rachel finally rebels against him, he is throws were in a concentration camp.
Anywho, later on she gets pushed into the time stream and ends up in the far future where she founds the clan Askani because in the future language, (which by the way is another dystopian future, but one where Apocalypse has come out triumphant), "Askani" translates to something like outsider, which was the closest thing she could think of that compared to the term X-Men.
She then sends one of her clan folk back in time to rescue her Nathan, to bring him to the future and then in the Cyclops and Phoenix miniseries (which was adapted in the series as Madeline. Sending Nathan with Bishop into the future).
She reaches out and snags the psyche of Scott and Jean and pulls them into cloned bodies of themselves and they end up raising Nathan in the future.
How this will be adapted to fit X-Men 97 timeline I'm looking forward to seeing. We saw Rachel briefly in cable's future flashback where she's fixing qhat is presumably the Golden Gate Bridge and she has the black striped hound markings on her face. If you look closely at Mother Askani the same markings but they're more of a light red color.
Rachel was also a host to the Phoenix Force, and for quote a long time.
The end of this reaction might be the most Bert and Ernie you two have been yet 😂😂😂
Been looking forward to your reaction this week and each week, it's been a blast watching along with you guys. See ya in the discord
They cooked this season. My expectations were very low but this and episode 5 were monumental. Even bothering to dress everyone in their original clothes so that the glimpses of the future in the classic show remain accurate was masterful execution. Now we will probably see them causing Apocalipse to exist
I love how this show has been like "Yeah, Charles and Eric are totally a couple with some serious toxic issues to work out" and just have that vibe underwrite every bit of dialogue they have together.
27:09 You guys are ridiculous. That is so funny. I can't even speak right now. You guys are the best.
This season finale was great and I had tears well up when Scott is talking to Nathan, as it hit me right in my Dad feels.
All the cameos were awesome too and what's great about animation is they can show a character and don't have to have an actor or actress cast to play them. I was literally like "WHAT!? CLOAK & DAGGER!?!" when Cloak teleported in.
Easily the best Marvsl content I've seen in years I can not wait for Season 2 AND I would loose my SHIT if they brought the Spider-Man animated series back too.
Just do the thing Marvel, I'm hear for it.
I've never seen the original X-Men or even the full thing of this new one but I kept hearing about moments so watched reactions on RUclips and now I want to watch the full thing! It seems a lot better and surprisingly more mature than I thought! I really want to see what the rest is like now lol
Ive heard some say the golden dome thing at the end is the HQ for the Egyptian Kang. Things are gonna get WILD in season 2.
Yep, Pharaoh Rama-Tutt
Yep, I've seen some people speculate that it was Kang/Rama Tutt that pulled the X-Men out of time and put them in times that are significant to Apocalypse.
Fun easter egg for the movies, in the "magneto protocols" folder , the 2 aliases are Ian and Michael (the last names are redacted)
Yes, Adam--Rogue and Bastion were in the Blue Area of the Moon. Where the Watcher lives. 😊😊😊😊
I see your “could if you wanted to”, Marvel Animations, and I raise you “please, now, thank you”🙏🏽
…It was Morph talking. I mean he was saying what Jean can’t say but it’s their sentiment as well clearly.
*they
Definitely in the top 5 of best animated series of all time
What are the others?
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Simpsons
Family Guy
South Park
Oh no they didn’t notice Scott’s tears on his face when he rips off the visor, still crying after saying goodbye to Cable 😭
Saying “your mom’s the future incarnate” to Nightcrawler, whose mother is Destiny is a wild thing
Before the episode has even started, Adam is absolutely geeking out, with every right of course, but like JUST HIT PLAYYYY! And then Jay's vibe is just like, "Yeah, YEAH HIT PLAYYY!"
To say that this series is epic would be an understatement! Boy, have I been waiting for Jay and Adam's reaction to this episode for way too long (two long days)! ❤️😂
Circling back to the lips bit from the very first reaction was comedy genius, you brilliant bastards 😂😂😂
I watched this on 1.75x speed and Jay's laugh after his rating sounded like a diabolical chipmunk.
It was _awesome._
Having been an xmen fan since original series, watched all films, all cartoons, I can safely say Xmen 97 is the best version of the xmen I have ever seen. Simply incredible
22:29 So, little correction here. While Gambit does die in the comics, him becoming a horseman of death was actually voluntary and not because he got resurrected. The gambit dying part is from a different comic run than the one where he becomes death.
I think this episode broke Jay's brain as much as Charles broke Erik's 😂
PEACHES WE'VE GOT THE ... LIPS?
The MCU's Xmen are going to have a hard time living up to this show. Like, "10 out of 10 Dad Moments" or "20 out of 20 Spitting Facts". With it's history of relying heavily on quips over actual sincerity, too much CGI when practical would work just as well in a lot of cases, and have a habit of leaning on spectacle over character competence... I'm not sure how they're going to do it, honestly. Forget for a moment the art of the LIPS, and note that moments of intimacy in this show focused on the characters' hands. “The heart is the toughest part of the body. Tenderness is in the hands.” ― Carolyn Forché. And they showed a lot of intimate moments between characters - it was quite refreshing! This show has more earnestness, spice, and heart in it than we've seen in a while, and this is up there with Andor for me for heavy hitters who have no right to go this hard.
It's an amazing coincidence how this show's climax sort of mimics the actual comic storyline right now. TLDR version, humans and AI conspired to eliminate Mutants, but the AI pulled a double cross to eliminate humans as well.
Enter Rama-Tut (Egyptian Pharaoh variant of Kang the Conqueror)
It was great sharing this ride with you guys! Can't wait for the next season. This was unbelievable!
How did they make a seething, yet still sassy, line-delivery of “There’s just one pickle, dear…” hit so good?!
Forget “Magneto was right”, turns out that “Bastion was right”. That line is so punchy because it’s delivered with the conviction that can only come from being right about something.
We need to have an actual character arc for Morph next season, he's just the fucking best.
Gambit didn’t actually die in the comics. He turned himself over to Apocalypse to try to stop him from un a-living everyone else.
This show was fantastic! The Beast's last line "Oh Dear!" says it all for the next season. Yes Disney keep going, don't stop and don't change the script writers! The dialog in this show is amazing. As we know from movies that have failed, action doesn't make a show. It is the story, the dialog, the action and everything else that is "Cartoon" has! 10/10
Jay's laugh at the end killed me 😂
This is absolutely the best superhero cartoon I’ve ever watched. Every episode had me drawn in 🔥🔥
I've been waiting for this since the finale dropped!!!
Saaaaaame
This whole season...absolutely perfection, the finale perfection, the set up for the next season, you guessed it perfection. 😂
The wait for season 2 is going to feel like a lifetime!
Almost as long as it felt waiting just a few days for this reaction. 😂💜
These reactions came full circle with that 2/2 Apocalypse joke 🤣🤣🤣
I love love LOVE that every single reactor I've watched has properly lost their minds at seeing MJ's return.
People have pointed out that MJ being there would've been before the series finale, and it might've been her clone, but Beau said that it was legit the rescued MJ, FINALLY!! I don't know what to believe lol.
before i even dive in, thank you for your vibe and energy. as always, you two rock on and i [we all] love ya. i know editing can be level stress but i thank you for keep doing it. maximum fairy dust. okay now to x-men 97 🙂
Thank you so much!!
I feel like Cloak and Dagger are the ultimate "Oh hey! it's them!" characters. Lots of people recognize them but I feel like almost no one knows any of their stories.
You guys make me laugh my ass off every time I watch you. I love this channel!❤
Was absolutely flabbergasted when Cloak and Dagger popped up! Makes me miss the TV show 😩
I think the Morph dialogue was definitely column A and column B. They're saying it as Jean to soothe Logan, but they're also saying it for themself.
@22:18 tiny correction here on Deathbit in the comics. Remy doesn't die in the comics, he willingly goes to Apocalypse and joins his crew. Understandbly, at the time this happened it was not the most well received plot twist. X-men 97's setup if that is what they are going to do certainly makes more sense.
Absolutely that it’s so good for react channels, it’s the big moments boyo!!!!
Peter found mary jane ! It was confirmed by the writers it is actually her and its not just the water clone lol, her and jean need to start a supoort group for people who were cloned and their clones , seriously though x-23 would be so cool to see in this show since she was originally from xmen evolution
So glad this is already approved for two more seasons. 100 years x men!
My thoughts on Season 1 of X-Men '97:
*chef's kiss*
This show has been one of the best things I’ve ever seen! Seeing the team working together using their powers was so awesome and omg the music, the version of the theme playing while they were trying to stop the asteroid was perfection! I need season 2 like now!
