You know shit got real when even Beast starts sounding like Magneto.
Love that they give Beast some love here and there. He deserves it. Such a good character.
THIS!!!!
Well it look's like they are adapting E for Extinction.
How has this been commented on every reaction to this episode
And that's how he turned into the maniac psychopath we see in comics these days 😢
You Bastion! You killed Gambit!
I understood that reference.
Slow clap.
Badam tisss.....
😂😂😂😂 brilliant
HHAHAHAHAHAHA😂😂😂
Gambit: *Wakes up in his bed*
Mumbles: "ononotagain"
People forget that Rogue used to be a villain. She joined the X-Men to do better - then they killed Gambit... it was great to see her go off.
And she has always been a pro-active X-Man. The first team she led had Mystique, Sabretooth, and Cable
Go off or go off to go back to being a villian bc that's not a good thing.
Come for the cool powers, stay because you've been gut punched in the feels so hard you can't get up
The producers said, “Fuck it.”
I need an organ transplant 😂
Just imagine a 30 seconds post credit scene of Cap just looking for his shield
Lol that would have been funny AF!
😂😂😂
Steve: "Dammit, Rogue.... Where did you throw my shield?"
With Tony mocking him over comms the entire time.
I imagine him checking there's no one around before he starts calling out "Shield!!!! Here boy!" 😂
This episode is still a nice reminder that Rogue is TERRIFYING when she wants to be.
only because she stole her powers.. I'm sure they're gonna cover it again eventually.. she nearly killed captain marvel who is still in a coma, so she's not such a nice girl
she's also (for some reason) even hotter when she's TERRIFYING
@@CHASEMARCyup I kinda wished she wore her original villain suit
It really look like they are going do "Onslaught" in this series.
She is my most favorite
Not just Captain America and the Hulk, you can also see a Stark Industries logo on a tower in Madripoor!
Roxxon and Hammer Industries too
old news they already appeared in the show many years ago
This is old news! They all in the old show
Not to mention the Spiderman reference with Horizon
@@Pinkielover
And?
Everyone needs a Kurt Wagner in their life, someone to give you an optimistic outlook, without sugar coating reality.
Yes. Even as I approach 50, We all need a Her Wagner.
Indeed!
"F your shield."
-Rogue, 2024
😂😂😂😂😂
Poor Man's Oppenheimer is honestly a great Trask nickname. And a decent metal band name. Loving Morph this season they really do seem like they are in a different show than everyone else sometimes in the best way.
Rogue told Cap “eff your respectability politics.”
“Prime Sentinel protocol activated. Terminate mutants.”
They had no idea how screwed they were about to be.
A Shiar naming themselves Deathbird is like a human calling himself Primate Murder.
I was sobbing in the first 5 minutes of this episode (“Every gambler has a tell. Modesty was Gambit’s” and “Grief is a lonely war” and Kurt being the best and Jubilee hurting and hoooooooboy) and then I said “God D*MN, Rogue…” like 4 different times. This ep does indeed absolutely *rip*
The fact that Josh Keaton was Captain America in this episode is nothing short of awesome. From everyone’s favorite webslinger to the US’s boy in blue, I love it
He voiced Steve/Cap in What If seasons 1 and 2
@@paracletelux I didn’t watch What If so I didn’t know that until I googled it
Don't forget Jack Darby from Transformers: Prime
BASTION & NIMROD!!!! Let’s flippin go!!!
They are one and the same…and yet, so very different. Bastion is Nimrod “evolved”, but when he became organic, he changed just as much as gene did when she became the Phoenix.
Bastion is the new guy. He's been a presence in practically every episode of this series. He's the Human form of the Future Sentinel Nimrod.
Episode 1 is definitely the hardest Bastion cameo to find, but I felt so silly once I finally found him. Its obvious once you make the connection
What is grief but sucking the lifeforce from a bigot?
Dayum!
Yeah, this show is Certified S Tier. Every week, "This was the best episode yet". Every week, the next episode hits even harder. Bring it on. This is spectacular.
The scriptwriting on this show...my goodness it goes SO hard...
That's Bastion, an amalgam of Master Mold and Nimrod who started OZT, Operation Zero Tolerance as well as creating prime sentinels, human beings turned into sentinels.
In the comics Rogue and Cap serve on a united X-Men/Avengers team called The Uncanny Avengers"
Operation: Zero Tolerance.
The fact that Morph can copy powers makes them one of the most OP Xmen now!
15:36 Theo James is the VA. He was also the voice of Hector in the Castlevania Netflix series.
He was also in The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf as Vesemir 😊.
The subtle writing of this episode- the BLM beast parallel, the "coming out" conversation, and I loved the part where Scott tears up and everyone thinks its cause they found a survivor but it's she's not Madelyn and only Jean knows that. Also if something happens to Kurt I swear...
That ending charecter was Bastion, a half human-half sentinel. The stories they are adapting was E FOR EXTINCTION AND OPERATION ZERO TOLERANCE.
Either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain.
Seeing these beloved characters fall to their own darkness in grief and suffering....this show is not gold. It is diamond. Platinum.
I'm not emotionally or mentally prepared for the finale
Will Scott become radicalized?
Beast is everything in this show. The quotes are pure mic drops
I am still stunned that they're going with Bastion as the big bad. That's amazing.
If you're curious, they're adapting the X-MEN: ZERO TOLERANCE storyline.
OZT
Makes sense timeline wise.
That storyline was big around that time 27 years ago.
He was a VERY 90's X-Men villian.
Operation: Zero Tolerance (OZT)
This was a kids show 30 yrs ago…very adult now 😮
8:15. ****YEET!!!****
Bastion is voiced by Theo James, who did Hector in the Castlevania series.
And Vesemir in Nightmare of the Wolf (Witcher anime). Made by the same studio that does '97 as well
He is awesome!
17:34 that question was askd during Civil War in the comics, Emma Frost asked why the X-men should take sides when the Avengers didn't help in Genosha
Also if you watched X-Men Evolution Rogue did something similar with Mystique...
After this episode, I am so READY for the 3-Part finale starting next week!!!
Prime Sentinel program (OZT) is closely connected to Nimrod. Funny thing is this arc actually came out in '97. They're actually going in comic storyline order (OZT, The 12, DoFPr, Red&Slim, PhCo, LegionQuest, AoA, MC, Eis4E, etc), though what's Xmen w/o time travel. Hope it lasts 20 yrs leading to the Krakoan Era merging into the MCU in Secret Wars
6:49 This quote, while lovely and appropriate, is anachronistic. Mr Roger’s spoke those sagacious words after 9/11, which will occur 4 years later. My guess is Mr Roger’s still loves anyone, just for being themselves in the X-Men 97 universe. He woulda had a little kid with mutant powers visit the neighborhood to chat about their life. I believe Nr Rogers would do whatever he could to promote tolerance and acceptance for mutants. I can easily see him addressing the Genosha massacre with the same love, care, kindness, and empathy he did that fateful September, 2001.
No, he said it well before then. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if they had to double-check that, because he certainly did say it after 9/11, and that’s probably the most widely referenced. But this was something he had already imparted to children (and their parents) many times throughout his life before that.
The earliest recorded example I found referenced was a column he wrote in 1986. And he himself attributed them to his mother, so he may have been saying it long before that.
(I love everything you said, though. And I love the image of a young mutant visiting the Neighborhood at Mister Rogers’ behest. Beautiful.)
@@Teletheusgood to know. Thank you for edifying me. Mr Rogers was just the best guy.
@@michaelpapp5518 Couldn’t agree more. The world becomes a little bit better every time someone acts just a little more like Mister Rogers.
The big villain is Bastion, is the fusion of Master Mold and Nimrod, and he basically can turn humans into sentinels, probably what he wants to make with Magneto...
Let's go! Rogue revengenating!
A year ago, no one was predicting this show was going to be this fing good. It's right up there with Shogun in how hard the moments hit. Mariko's death, Gambits death. The past 30 days my lord.
Shogun spoiler 😢
Should I watch Shogun?
Yes@@nickspeyer8742
random fucking Shogun spoiler
Apparently according to Beau DeMayo Bastion has has a hidden cameo of sorts in all but episode 3 and 6. Also Theo James really became kinda a sleeper hit in voice acting between this as Bastion as well as great parts in Castlvania and Dark Crystal
Technically I think ep 6 and 4 share the same cameo which is the picture of forge in the intro.
He was in the new Dark Crystal too? Damn he's in all my favorite shows
@@juina Yep. He voiced the leader of the desert Gelflings (with the rainbow 🌈 skin)that was flirting with Brea.
Also in The Witcher animsted movie.
This villain was visible in one of the photos pinned to Forge's wall.
Only partly tho. Still proud of myself that I immediately recognized him, but then Second Coming is my favorite X event ever
Nice detail!
Bastion? Operation:Zero Tolerance? Prime Sentinels? The Orchis organization has its roots in this storyline from the 90s!
It's Bastion. A hybrid of Nimrod and Master Mold. Check out Operation: Zero Tolerance and Messiah Complex/Messiah War/Second Coming.
SPOILERS, dude!!!
Sorry, dude!
It gives the name in the subtitles. Giving a name isn't spoilers in of itself. If you know you know if you don't you don't get anything extra from the name
@@fusionaddict
Read a comic book!
I know that you probably mean that those three are basically a trilogy of storylines, but bastion is only in Second Coming
This episode single handedly made Nightcrawler one of my favorites, every one of his lines were inspirational. Love that furry little dude.
If you were around in the early ‘90’s when this epic show debuted, for US, now GROWN ASS ADULTS, this is just a continuation of this epic story that is X-MEN, now being told to us now as adults with real issues from relationships, sexuality, wars and yes, cursing.
It went from TV-G, to TV almost MA.
A modern day interpretation of a classic, epic show that we all loved and missed, now back.
Buckle up everyone, it’s gonna get even wilder.
And I for one, like everyone else, is on board.🙌🏻👍🏼.
It was a big reveal. That was Bastion. Who was the big guy behind Operation Zero Tolerance. OZT. Bastion was created by Scott Lobdell. And he introduces characters like Maggot, Cecelia Reyes, Joseph and Marrow.
Dont forget Spat and Grovel
No big surprise to see Ross and Captain America in the show, more of a happy surprise. The old show did small cameos from everywhere all the time. Captain America appeared twice in old episodes including a whole backstory with Wolverine. Morph even turned into Deadpool in an old episode when trying to disturb Wolverine. I do hope it eventually leads to bigger things. :)
I love when reviewers actually know X-men lore, even it’s a bit lol. Makes me more excited
Morph's Non-Binary.
Every week I still keep hearing the "he's got lips, she's got lips, no lips" version of the opening theme in my head.
7:54 We do know that The Avengers exist in the MAU thanks to Spider-Man saying *"You don't find the Fantastic Four in a sewer or the Avengers. Never have I seen The Avengers in a sewer or the defenders... Well maybe the Hulk"* in the first episode of the 90s Spider-Man Animated Series. So we can assume that The Avengers have been around for the same amount of time as The X-Men just like the comics. They never showed up in any of the shows besides a version of the team featured in the Age of Apocalypse timeline with completely differant character designs with the term acting as Mutant Hunters on behalf of Apocalypse. Basically it looks like someone tried to create The Avengers but didn't have the rights to the characters lol
We did see Avengers members in the series though but not together as a team, Thor, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Hulk, and Black Panther all had cameos in the 90s Marvel shows. With the Avengers being pushed into the Mainstream since Iron Man (2008) I could see them showing up in this series, even as a little cameo.
That episode of Spider-Man also saw Dr. Connor's Test Mouse being called "Mickey"And One of those "Space-faring Teams"
War Machine was seen.
Fellas... I'm starting to think they may not be going back in time to save Gambit.....
(or anyone else for that matter but you get what i mean)
I give them all the credit for going very 90s with their big bad even as they're drawing inspiration from all time periods. OZT = Operation Zero Tolerance and that is Bastion.
A cool thing is that Operation Zero Tolerance was the big crossover arc that ran through the X-Men comics in...1997
Me too. Operation Zero Tolerance is not a good storyline by any means so its fun to watch them take the core elements and combine them with stronger storylines (E for Extinction]. Very smart choice
@donnatroy5381 Better than the evil twin of Xavier that somehow came back after being killed in the womb. I find it funny that she is being used in the new Deadpool movie.
@@Equinox2149 hell yeah! Exactly my feelings on Cassandra. I always enjoy her, but adaptation wise she would never be my first choice cause I prefer other villains in the potential roles she could serve. There are more interesting counterparts to Charles and I don't find her anti-mutant sentiments as strong as other villains. From being a bigger anti-mutant villain to tie into the strong mutant metaphor theme this adaptation needed to have to being less convulated to having ties to the original show I think this E for Extinction but with Bastion is a winner. I find it so funny that she's Deadpool Wolverine's main villain and gonna be mainstream now. Love Emma Corrin, but I wouldve preferred someone old to play her
@@donnatroy5381 Cassandra Nova is anti-Xavier, not really anti-mutant. If Xavier loved posies instead of mutants and dedicated his life to protect all those flowers, she'd try to exterminate all posies on earth just to hurt her brother.
7:07 the absolute shock and joy on your faces has made my Friday ❤
when you have a kid show and watched the first 6 seasons of Game of Thrones and thought..... What if we could mix the best of both worlds.....
Did the final scene, with the music and the razor, give anyone else Reservoir Dogs vibes?
My favorite guys, Waldorf and Statler!
❤ had the exact same reactions when I watched this at work lol
Bastion is part Nimrod. I remember him as being from, around, the time of Scott Lobdell writing the title.
I always appreciate Adams shirts!!!
Love the bit of "anime style" they have been adding here and there
Rogue with the drop kick from Marvel vs Capcom
Inspired by the Rider Kick from KAMEN RIDER.
It's Mahvel baby!
This channel has become my favorite! even with the "uninteresting part". Seeing you react to ep. 5 is the marker for me. Thank you for the reaction and knowledge of comics, even though you did not know Bastion 😄
They are awesome!
There was even a reference to Iron man because during the Madripoor scene, a Stark Industries sign could be seen.
They are combining operation zero tolerance and e is for extinction from the comics
Man, I can’t wait to see their face when the reveal hits. There’s so many clues given.
Pretty sure the next episode title is Tolerance is Extinction so that tracks.
I noticed the voice actor from Bastion as well. It's Theo James, he voiced Hector the forgemaster in the castlevania series, and vesemir in the witcher nightmare of the wolf.
Hey, I don't know what the last episodes hold, but this has to be nominated for show of the year.
Rogue America….LET’S GO!!!!
Man, those BASTIONs... They got ZERO TOLERANCE *wink wink*
Deathbird is a code name, by the way. It's not any more on the nose than "Cyclops" or "Storm".
Throwing caps shield was such a biff move
PPE is Bastion. It's a deep cut. Voiced by Theo James, also a deep cut. Probably best known as Hector from Castlevania or the guy from Divergent.
Also his voice performance is incredible. Cold, calculating, smooth as silk yet terrifying AF.
A lot of reactors have said the Bastion voice sounds like Hemlock from Bad Batch. They are different VAs, but the voices do sound similar.
@@foulrot I think his performance is so good people are having a hard time accepting he's a comparatively unknown VA 😂
Voice Actor for Human Purple People Eater is Theo James. Same actor in Netflix: The Gentleman and Divergent
Bastion = Nemrod + Mastermold
"... I evolved" 😉
14:12 poor Trask. He said he wanted to die before he could become an even bigger monster. Even in death there was no avoiding that horrible fate for him.
I was watching this episode with Close captioning, and as soon as he made his first appearance, it stated his name as he was the one that was speaking, and I freaked out
You guys are the 2nd set of reactors who recognized the Mr. Rogers quote. Respect.
18:05 Iron Man and the Fantastic Four guest spotted in Spider-Man as well. The voice actors and designs were pulled from the their own cartoons which ran concurrently. That all culminated in an animated version of Secret Wars on Spider-Man!
I imagine Cap out in those hills, checking there's no one around before he starts calling out "Shield!!!! Here boy!" 😂
😂
I pretty sure they are setting up Onslaught for season 2 as we see him talk about Xaiver and we seem him holding Magneto prisoner. Onslaught is a combination of the consciousnesses of two powerful mutants, Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto, and has superior physical and mental powers. He can also possess the minds of others and use their bodies as his own. We could see the Avengers team up with the xmen or even see the avengers mind controlled to fight the xmen, anything is possible.
Jay is the Jack black of reaction channels and I love it and him 😊 much love for you to Adam
I have been waiting for your guys reaction, honestly the best!!!!
The drink that Morph gets from the vending machine, is the same soda from the bottling plant that Bruce Banner works at in the Incredible Hulk.
Bastion has entered the chat room.
That my dear boys is Bastion, the fusion of Nimrod and a Master Mold.
every frame of your faces on this episode its a meme, I love you guys!
Feels like it's heading to an Avengers vs X-Men storyline in a future season
But then they gotta do the T‘Challa/Storm wedding and she just got her love story with Forge.
I have a hunch we might be getting Horseman of the Apocalypse Death/Gambit based on Xavier's vision and setting up Apocalypse story beats.
Found your channel couple days ago. I need friends like you in real life.
I am 40. This cartoon was made for me and others in this age. So damn good. My 14 year old likes it but he is not connected to it like me.
14:08 Yinz missed the "Stark Enterprises" (as Jean & Cyclops fall from the building) sign during the big battle at the end, too. Iron Man confirmed...😊
FYI..that was Bastion. Crazy backstory involving Nimrod.
The next 3 weeks are going to be nuts. I'm guessing Onslaught, but imagine if...they end the season with a cliffhanger leading to Age of Apocalypse...
Onslaught would have to be a later season
@@barryween4478 Yes, either story would have to be. But given the blistering pace of these episodes, they could set up almost anything for season 2.
@@jfernsten I think the finale is Operation: Zero Tolerance.
@@barryween4478 It is, but there's nothing to say small things can't be woven in throughout the 3 episodes. A small hint here, a foreshadow there....wrap up Zero Tolerance, and launch into a surprise cliffhanger in the very last minutes. It often happened in the books that one storyline would finish, and a new problem arises on the last page or two.
I'm predicting a return of the Phoenix. After the attack on Genosha, a u-men attack on the school triggered Jean's transformation as she set the invaders on fire! If a squad of Primes are headed that direction the X-Men will need her power to dismantle them. This attack also put the new students front and center, with the Stepford cuckoos doing some very Emma things to the U-men and their enhanced armor.
I'm Sorry But 13:52 Was The Perfect Reaction... LMAO 🤣
Oh it's not just me 😂 I always hated this version of Jean's outfit.
It is slightly better than her outfit from the original series.
@@marshsundeen It is. But that skin tone jumpsuit was always a bad choice!
@@TheFiddleFaddle Completely. I spent time trying to figure out what was happening there.
Captain america showing up here is setting up Avengers vs X-Men in the future
Fun Fridays with Preview’d🤗
[i shudder at what Bastion has planned for Magneto], you know, i straight up love how this show knocks me off my feet every time. the vice acting, the needle drops, the animation, the pain, the stories! and i don't expect every future mcu tv project to have this vibe [not in the least] - every show is built to be different, however, this show is saying SO MUCH in 30 minutes. it's delicious. i look forward [and don't look forward, iChuckle]] to the latter episodes. [also, i just knew that Genosha event was a fixed point; Cable showing up here seals it for me]
So yeah this episode started with a gut punch and ended with my hype over 9000
Rogue was fighting general Rosses hulkbusters in the beginning of the episode
Cap was in the old show, he had a full episode
