Thank you Rich I really appreciate your videos. One thing that I have learned to do rather than pinch or spread to zoom in or out is the following. Simply touch and HOLD .5 , 1, or whatever your camera show that will activate the zoom scrolling wheel. It works good for me. Just wanted to pass this along. Have a great day!
Recently learn’t great tip for camera from Macmost. Using the pan option rather than the usual side to side pan hold your iphone in landscape and pan up or down. Using this allows you to get tall objects in your photo for example a tree or tall building.🙂
No kidding! I was a photography geek when I was young. Had a big shoulder bag full of cameras, lenses, etc. and even processed my own negatives and prints. Now, nearly all that is possible (and then some) with this tiny little thing that fits in my pocket!
Me too! I actually had a dark room in my basement and developed film. Now I have a better camera than I could have ever dreamed of as a kid in my pocket.
Just found your channel. Been struggling with my iPhone , a recent present for my 80th! , bit different from my Nokia 3310. People make helpful comments but often they make it more difficult as you don’t get the full picture of what to do. I can’t tell you how helpful you have been it’s made a world of difference. Many thanks for your help from the uk.
You will find a wealth of knowledge viewing all of Rich’s videos. He explains things in layman’s terms so it’s easy to follow him. I have learned a lot watching his videos. Also, 𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 80𝒕𝒉 𝑩𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒉𝒅𝒂𝒚!
Thanks. I “stroke” the zoom up and down when in landscape mode With the iPhone pro camera button, I press and hold the button for quick video. That way I can take a video within about 3 seconds from the iPhone switched off.
Thanks for your vids. Another useful way to zoom is to touch, hold and move your finger on the 1x button. a scale will pop up showing you the amount of "zoom" (up to 5x on my older 14 phone) as you move your finger. Release and snap your image. Tap the zoom button again and it takes you back to 1x.
I have had iPhones since they were released and this video revealed features that I didn’t even know were available. Your videos are so meaningful! Thank you for this VERY useful information. Now…would it be possible to explain how to capture a sunset? It is a skill which I have not mastered.
Thanks for the kind comments! Sunsets...well,,, I'm better at than I used to be. I pretty much point and shoot. But it depends on the time of sunrise or sunset. I've been practicing pics of sunrises at the beach. When my wife and I visit and stay in a high-rise, I get up before daylight and just as the sun is peaking above the ocean horizon I snap away for about the next 10-15 minutes. And if I hit the time just right, I can get a pretty good pic. Hope this helps a little.
Thank you. I'm new to your channel. Have you done a video on using tripods? I use my iPad a lot more than I do the camera but could use tips on how to use a tripod for both.
Thanks for your tips; some of mine are: 1/ in camera settings you can push the 'water level' (or something like that, my iPhone is on Dutch language) and you get a yellow line on your screen when you are not 100% horizontal, so you can adjust before taking the picture 2/ you also can do a quick zoom when you swipe (left or right) on the 0,5 or 1 3/ when you travel and zoom to an object that is far away, the photo will be blurred, especially when you zoom again on the screen or print the photo. Because you only get digital zoom in iPhones. I went to Namibia and a lot of my iPhone photos are not good, because I zoomed too much. That's why I decided to buy a better (compact) camera with a good zoom (up to 8x optical zoom), and that is the Sony RX100 V7. I looked at a lot of YT videos and made that choice. iPhones are only good to take photos without zooming. Thanks for all your other videos. I always learn something, like in this video (swiping right on photo to become a video)
Not yet. That's a little advanced and I like to cover the basics first. But I'm thinking about making a more detailed "power-user" video and cover such things. Do you think that would be helpful?
@ oh, yes. I use to shoot with a DSLR, but it was never with me when I needed it!lol. So, I am trying to learn it on my iPhone. The best camera is the one you have with you!
Most people underestimate the incredible capabilities of the iPhone camera system. Even the standard iPhone model can produce professional-quality results.
Instead of zooming with your fingers, it is best to use the 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 then later zoom and crop if you want, This makes sure that you get the best quality photos, as the zooming with your fingers cause the phone to use digital zoom and that can cause a very slight distortion.
Especially if you print the photos. If not, I've found pinch-to-zoom handy. But you're right, the native zoom resolutions provide the best image. Thanks so much for watching!
Apple seem to have disregarded the fact most people hold their iPhone in the vertical position. With the new camera control button I keep inadvertently activating the button. Had to resort to switching camera control off in settings. Switching back on when want to use the extra facilities of camera control. Wish there was a quick on screen method to toggle on or off🙂
@@gregor2600Thanks! … but you may put on or off the subtitles (with cc); to the right appears the option for the language (in the OS I am using). Thanks again!

I’m new to iPhones, so this was great. Thank you
It is amazing how great the camera is on the IPHONE . Thanks for the video.

you demonstrated a lot of great tips that I didn’t know about and ( this is important ) wouldn’t have learned even with practice.
That's why I do these videos! Glad it was helpful.
Thanks for video, didn’t know about the grid setting.
Rich, here’s one. In panoramic mode the default is from left to right. However if you tap on the arrow it flips to right to left. Sometimes handy
Another great tip! Thanks!
Thanks, who, knew you could hold the camera button to get to video, will definitely remember that one
I know! I'm always fumbling around trying to get to the video mode. I'll use this tip for sure.
Thank you so much, Sir. The tips given by you are really helpful.
Most welcome!

After making camera adjustments for several months, Is there a way to reset only the camera settings and controls back the factory defaults?
I really appreciate your videos. You make my world just a little bit better!🥇
Happy to hear that! That's so kind of you to say. Makes getting these videos out worth it!
Good stuff, Rich! Thanks for the tips.

You can also zoom by putting your finger on the “numbers”and slide from side to side. It will go all the way to a digital 25 times, unbelievable!!!!

Simply turn them off. Tap the "cc" icon in the top right corner. It might be in the lower right corner depending on your OS.
