Hack: when applying liquids (alcohol, vinegar, goo gone, etc) use paper coffee filters instead of paper towels… they are made so they don’t leave behind any lint or small paper fuzz and works great
First, you’re adorable. OK, moving on, I love that you’re not attached to Cricut, I’ve heard that their vinyl really is not that great. Very very useful ideas! Thank you!
When applying vinyl to any non porous surface… spritz with a little water (distilled water works best). This allows the vinyl to move around a bit before sticking so you can place it perfectly… then using your fingers or burnishing tool you squeegee the water out from behind your vinyl. This removes the water, prevents air bubbles, and is far more forgiving when placing your design. Set it aside for several hours while the little bit of moisture dries and your design is well stuck. This is called the wet method and is a variation that professionals use when applying designs to glass doors and cars. You can search RUclips for tons of examples. This was a game changer for me!
Mat cleaning hack: I use these silicon scrubby things I found at the dollar tree. They are found in the body care, makeup, and baby care areas… basically silicon with little nubbies on it… they have been called reusable washcloths, brush cleaners, and face cleaners. Any style will work. I then have a spray bottle with water and a teaspoon of dawn dish soap that I shake up. I spray my mat and use the silicon scrubby to gently wash my mat. I rinse with water and let air dry. This returns the stickiness and never leaves any fuzz or residue behind. LOVE my mats again!
Although the ‘hack’ to find the center of the shirt is a great one… the easiest way to find the center of your design is to put a small rectangle/square into your design (not touching any of the design itself) and center it to your design prior to cutting. I would fold and press, then use marking chalk (the kind that is found in the sewing section of fabrics stores) to lightly mark the fold to make it easy to see (this mark will brush/wash away and will have no effect on the HTV adhesion). Now simply line up your design using the small square you centered with your design and press the HTV liner down with your hands… once most of your design is sticking to the correct place on your shirt, use your finger or weeding tool to peel off the small square. This takes less time and is super easy… it actually takes longer to explain than to do it.
One hack I do that I never see mentioned is that I like to weed a whole bunch of things then apply the transfer tape to all, then cut out individual images. So for example with vinyl labels I might cut on a 12x12, weed all the labels on the 12x12, apply a 12x12 sheet of transfer tape, then cut out each label. It is faster to weed and I can also precut the materials rather than having to cut the exact size. Plus since the transfer tape exactly matches the paper backing it doesn't get stuck everywhere.
I recently discovered the "manage costume materials" function, no one ever told me it existed. Using it was a game changer for me. My blade stopped cutting well on some materials. I thought I should change the knife. I learned, instead, that changing the blade pressure setting on the material I will use solved the problem. I just increase the pressure two at a time; test to see if it's working, and if it doesn't, I adjust it again. Easy!
When I sew, I keep a notebook of materials, number of layers, and stitch tension and length; that way if I want to do the same project I can refer to it and instantly set the same settings. I will be doing this same thing for my Cricut projects! 😊
When I got my Cricut years ago I did a side by side price difference. I took a few different co. And took the cost per piece, per roll and made a n extra place to compare the width and length of each item and took the price of them. It really helped to know where I’m saving money. 143 is definitely the winner on cost.
Tanner, I have been using Cricuts since the Expression. But your video today made it "fun" to learn new things that I can do with my Cricut Maker and Explore. Hacks #10 thru 20 were the most helpful. I thank you for all the help you are giving to all of us loyal Cricuteers.
Weeding hack! I cut a lot of small and/or delicate vinyl. If I just start weeding in the corners and pull up the vinyl, I was losing small items (i.e. dots over i's, curly Qs on letters, etc) . So I take my True control knife and cut the vinyl around the small and delicate areas. I'll use my weeder or piercing tool to remove all of the internal vinyl, for example the centers of letters like a d e o, etc. then I pull the background vinyl leaving the delicate areas to weed the places I cut around. Does that make sense. It's kind of hard to describe without pictures. I've also discovered that using the iron-on setting on my maker 3 when cutting smart vinyl gives me sharper images.
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing how to cut different colors on one mat. I have been cutting multiple colors on one mat for years… but I have always made them all the same color and then had to be very careful remembering which color went where on my mat… but now it is so much easier, thank you.
Great hack for removing the grid from the back ground… when making labels, signs, and websites for craft sales this was a great way to be able to print/view the designs in other apps, thank you so much!
Thank you so much for showing the flatten feature to help print then cut. Love your videos. They definitely keep me interested in my machine. I was nervous I would have wasted money on my Cricut Maker. I’m now trying to get more comfortable and hope to eventually, down the line start a small business. I really enjoy the line fill when engraving on acrylic, never thought I’d be able to make something I can light up with LEDs. After watching your videos, I’ve started my crafting journey with more difficult projects first. I’m pleasantly surprised. Just need to get better. Thank you for all you do!!!
I’ve always had a special mat aside for weeding . That way my cutting mat stays clean. I also use alcohol wipes to clean my items . I’ve tried the baby wipes with not such good results . I clean with the dish soap. Let it dry . Then i apply a piece of transfer tape to cover mat. Let it on for a few days . Then i remove the transfer tape and it’s like new. Very sticky . I then reuse the large piece of transfer tape . Another hack i do is i keep transfer backing from my htv. I then use it when i weed to put the scraps on . It works great . When it’s full, i fold it up and discard.
OMG, I just LOVE YOU Tanner! You are such a bright light! I received my Explore Air 2 a couple of weeks ago, unboxed it yesterday and will use it soon (I hope)! I'm nervous, but I feel like I will have Tanner by my side cheering me on!! I'm so happy I found you! Thank you for your positive, bubbly, infectious attitude and teachings!!
Tanner & co, where have you been all my life? Well, since I got my cricut lol - I’m from uk n have had my machine a year BUT not got very far - projects I’ve done have been ok but I just lack ideas n inspiration! It’s now 6.35AM n since I found your Chanel at 11PM last night, I’ve been hooked n awake and excited EVER SINCE!!!!! Thank you all sooo much - I feel much more knowledgeable n wanna get started N O W! Lol I came across a “car trash bag” which is made out of material, (which I find hard to cut in a straight line) but it’s the ideal size to make for my 3 year old granddaughter, who has a pretend shop wiv small grocery items n it’s gonna make her soooo happy! I’m sorry for waffling on but honestly, I’m really buzzing now, thanks to U!
I am a beginner and just found your channel. I’m so excited to get started. I have bought some permanent vinyl at Dollar Tree to practice with. I hope this vinyl will be ok. Wish me luck on my Cricut journey. Your video was so helpful in Design Space.
This is definitely off topic, but I never expected a husband/wife marriage here… please don’t be mad… these are the best circuit hacks and videos anywhere! I keep coming back and can’t stop.
I definitely thought he played for the other team because of how he talks but even if he did, I wouldn't care because I just want to learn about Cricut projects. 😊
The test cut in the shape of a star will definitely be one that I will use. I learned a lot from watching this video and have already saved for future reference. Thanks Tanner! I also plan to look into becoming a member of the Makers Gonna Learn soon.
19:06 if you click the white square in the very corner under the undo button it removes or adds the grid automatically. Little faster. Love all the tips!
Just got mine for my birthday... haven't even taken it out of the box yet... but watching videos so hopefully I learn something as not to get discouraged when using it.
I am a beginner and while these were interesting, they are mostly beyond my capabilities! I learn this type of stuff slowly but I am a member so I know I can always come back and re-watch!
Kathy when I first got my cricut I watched the makers gonna learn videos as I was creating my project. I would stop the video do what I needed to do rewind if I had to and that’s how I learned
On Black Friday I purchased a Cricut explore air 2. I know it’s not the best on the market but it is all that I could afford being on social security and I almost took it back because I didn’t know the first thing about how to work it. I watched many videos and that didn’t help then I came across your video. Al I can say thank you not only do you take the time to explain you also show where we are able to get accessories cheaper which is a big plus for me. Another problem I have is all the memberships not sure which one I can get for my money. I probably not buy another machine (printer or other machines). I just want to say thank you
WOW! I had several months away from my beautiful Criut machines and felt a little overwhelmed comming back. I was having trouble with the new updates and couldn't really remember how to do all the things I did before. TY *SOOOO* much for this video! It really was like someone just standing there with me and guiding me back to my playground! Take care and have a wonderful holiday season and new year! ♥
Extra tip for the baby wipe tip! You can use your scraper tool and scrape off any left over residue/fuzz that’s left over after the baby wipe! I’ve been doing this and it works great!
Just this morning I needed that "new window" hack but hadn't watched this video!! I am soooo excited about being able to work while something else is printing!!
I knew most of the hacks from watching MGL videos but, number 10 yay! It just goes to show you can always learn something new. This will be very helpful to me so thank you! ❤
I loved the hacks on how to save the images. And removing the grid. So many great and very useful ideas. I'm recommending this channel to all my friends.
Congrats on the 50k, you earned it. I found this site because we have common interests, sublimation, vinyl and screen printing (for me). I have used some of your ideas for screen printing. I stay with this site because you are good at what you do. You can talk to users of all skill levels and keep it interesting. And, you are the real boss.
Love, love, love your channel! But the multiple windows hack just changed my world! On my view I had to click the three little dots at the top of the screen to find the file option. But I didn't even know to look for it before this video. Thank you!!!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I’ve been using my Cricut for over ten years and still don’t know what to do with some of the commands. I’ve learned a lot today.
Your first hack is what I’ve been doing and having issues with. My vinyl backing is sticking to the mat so much I’m struggling to get it off and when I do my decal curls
Thanks for the hacks- I didn’t know about the ability to open a second window and I also didn’t know about the attach making the design into a print then cut
My husband got me my cricut for my birthday and I have been too scared to take it out of the box but it's time. And I found your videos and it had helped me sooooo much! Thank you so much!
I I am very new to cricut and cricut design space and I am still learning thow to use the program I sure did appreciate you showing us how to put a memo so that we can find the design and or the place that we bought the design. Thanks so much for these hacks
These were all great! Thank you Tanner. I’m so glad I saw this before starting. Putting slits in the vinyl for round objects like an ornament is awesome! I also had no clue in Design Space pngs, svgs, jpeg can’t be exported….taking a screenshot is a great hack!
Two windows at the same time 🥹I’m so excited. I already had a cricut air, but my kids brought me a Maker. Now I can use both at the same time 🤯game changer. Thanks Tanner!
Just beware when using multiple windows - I was cutting stickers using Print and Cut at the weekend and was using 2 windows. For the 2nd set I printed off and sent to cut - it then cut the stickers in the non-focused window rather than the ones I had just printed. So note to self - when making stickers use just one window
I'm LOVING your videos, Tanner! I've only watched a few thus far, but I've learned a TON of things! I just got my Cricut (Explore 2) and have learned that I need a Maker to do everything that I desire to do (am getting the Maker and a Joy later this month when our bonus comes in), so I appreciate ALL of the videos and money saving tips that you and your team provides. 🥰🤩Your information will definitely be the 🗝to my success 😅! I'm also going to become a member on your website, btw... MUWAHHH!!
Hello! Thank you so much for sharing this valuable information. I am new to Cricut. I have just happily subscribed. Question: I have an Explore 3 which uses 13 inch products. 13 inch products seem to be limited in range and hard to purchase. Is there a way to use 12 inch products on my Explore 3? Thank you so much for your time! :)
Hi, I am buying a cricut joy soon, and need to learn all about the product before I try. Youve gave me some great advice. Thank you so much. Luv from the UK
I love my Cricut Joy, but I did come to find out it is more limited. I ended up buying a Maker3 since you can add so many more tips and cut many more materials with it. Also, the size of what you can cut it much more limited with the Cricut Joy. I would say to really look into what you are going to be doing and what size prints you want and then decide so you don’t spend money that you could use on materials later on. Good luck!
@@mariselaberlangamariberla9018 Thank you for replying, my kids bought me a joy bundle for Christmas so I cant complain. To be honest its still sitting in the box as I havent had the confidence to start with it. I was told 'oh just buy vinyl for it' and not knowing the first thing about vinyl or the cricut I did. Anyways a couple of hundred pound later to find out I cannot use the vinyl on tumblers or glasses as not waterproof. I wonder how many people havent a clue and just buy. Now it wont get haned to the charity shop I will find something I can use it for. I only wanted to make decals for glasses, tumblers and Christmas baubles, so i suppose ive got to start of somewhere....... eventually. Thank you again. Luv from the UK
Hi Lynn. Just make sure that your vinyl says permanent and you can use for glasses and tumblers. You have to hand wash them though with a mild soap for them to last. Don’t throw or give away the vinyl. I would use it to decorate plain bags for gifts and many other things. You can cake incredible cards with the joy also. Tanner is awesome at giving tips and there are quite a few more people that give great advice too.
Hello! Thank you so much for all the hacks! I'd like to ask what is the name of the bolder font. You say amberlight and.... chevon? chiffon? SORRY!!!! Thanks so much in advance!
You’re the BEST Tanner!! Thank you SO much for sharing your talent!! These hacks are so amazing! I am a beginner and your tutorials take the anxiety out of the process!! Thank you for your thorough explanations!! LOVE your channel!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
My only comment is the baby wipes, make sure they don't have alcohol, alcohol will dissolve the stickiness, so most 'Baby' wipes are alcohol free and some regular or make-up type wipes might have alcohol, just verify and save yourself some frustration and tears! :) For the removal of the grid, that's a lot of steps. There is a square at the top of the grid where the top meets the left rulers and just click on that little square and the grid will disappear. I find that to be a lot faster.
I can't see what the fonts were that you welded together , I love that look !! Can you tell me the names of the two fonts please ? Thanks so much in advance
hello Mr. Tanner, thank you so much for this video. I have been trying to find a Circut Class, or there any for beginners out there that you do, or can recommend? Thank you so much.
So I’m new-new to Cricut. I haven’t even done the first practice project and I found your channel. Score one for Me! I noticed you speak a lot about alternative products other than Cricut that can used. Great, I love to save money, especially since I’m probably going to be wasting some in the learning process. What products do you NOT recommend using in the Cricut? Oh please do tell. 😂
Hi Tanner! Going through RUclips videos regarding new Cricut beginners and found this video of yours. You really explain so much more than, others have. I just received my Cricut Explorer Air 2 for Christmas from my Daughter & Hubby. There's so much I want to do, but feel overwhelmed. We're huge Dallas Cowboys fans and I'd really like to make tee shirts for us. My question is, are all the vinyl materials good as transfers onto tee shirts or sweatshirts? Also, making the Dallas Cowboys' star logo, which has white lines inside the star as well as a white outline all around the star. The Dallas Cowboys' name, which is with dark blue and outlined in white. How would I be able to do this? Is this even possible? I wish I could send you a picture, for you to understand what I'm saying exactly. Trying to figure this out, but a bit nervous to even open the box and try.
I was overwhelmed with it too, and it sat in the box for two months when I got it for Christmas but the cricket app makes it really easy especially on my tablet just open it and look at it and unpack it. That’s the start.
@@PrincessV444 Thank you for the encouragement. Yeah, my Explorer Air 2, is still in the box, from Christmas. Good to kmow, you're able to design, with your tablet. Mine is an Android. Am I able to use it? What kind is yours? Feeling as though, I'm ready to take those first baby steps.
Hi I'm looking at getting a Cricut but it all looks so daunting. I hope if/when I can afford it I'll be able to do the technical side. Thanks so much for your tips 😊
Hi, new subbie here!! Your videos are fantastic, thank you! Question, I have matte tumblers and I am having trouble adhering vinyl. I have tried rubbing alcohol to the surprise prior to applying and still the permanent vinyl will not adhere..Any tips please, thanks!!
Thank you so much for sharing. I knew some. But most i didn't know. So thanks for the tips. Is their a way you can do a video on how to use your phone ? I have a chromebook and cricut doesn't support chromebooks. So I have to use my phone which is a android galaxy S22 ultra.
Hack: when applying liquids (alcohol, vinegar, goo gone, etc) use paper coffee filters instead of paper towels… they are made so they don’t leave behind any lint or small paper fuzz and works great
Such a wonderful idea! Thank you!
Good one!
Ty!! 🎉
Coffee filters have sooo many benefits in the home, other than for coffee making. Ty

finally found someone who explains things to do and not speed talk. glad I found you
Although the ‘hack’ to find the center of the shirt is a great one… the easiest way to find the center of your design is to put a small rectangle/square into your design (not touching any of the design itself) and center it to your design prior to cutting.
I totally agree… and by creative placing, by angling each smaller cut in between your longer ones reduces vinyl waste and saves you a bunch of time!
I thought everyone did this.. It's common sense! Lol then again our world is lacking a lot of common sense these days 😉🥰
Totally agree
@@kristenadorno I agree common sense does not exist in society nowadays lol!
Do you reuse the transfer tape?... Because you can use that sheet at least for another 5 transfers
I clean my mats with pink stuff(paste). Cleans so well and the stickiness comes back so good!!!

Hey Tanner, I got my first Cricut machine for my birthday this year. Do you have recommendations for cutting fabric?
Great video full of useful info. I like to use a capital B as a test cut as it shows how well it cuts curves and inside cuts.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Can you hook up the first CriCut to the internet and do this to????
You can click the blank box (between the vertical row and horizontal row) twice to get rid of the grid. Much faster. 👍🏼🥰

Extra tip for the baby wipe tip! You can use your scraper tool and scrape off any left over residue/fuzz that’s left over after the baby wipe! I’ve been doing this and it works great!
Great tip!
What about cat hair? I can’t seem to get it all no matter what I do
Just this morning I needed that "new window" hack but hadn't watched this video!! I am soooo excited about being able to work while something else is printing!!
Have fun!
I knew most of the hacks from watching MGL videos but, number 10 yay! It just goes to show you can always learn something new. This will be very helpful to me so thank you! ❤
Glad to hear it!
Thank you so much!
🙋♀️I love the hacks, makes me believe I can conquer the beast with your help🤷♀️😁🤦♀️
Love, love, love your channel! But the multiple windows hack just changed my world! On my view I had to click the three little dots at the top of the screen to find the file option. But I didn't even know to look for it before this video. Thank you!!!!!
I love the Guide Hack, Why did I not know this sooner? My life has just changed 100 %! THANK YOU!
You're welcome!
Loved the color sync, the new page for second project and the print screen for Mac. AWESOME ‼️🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🎊🎊
Glad you love it!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I’ve been using my Cricut for over ten years and still don’t know what to do with some of the commands. I’ve learned a lot today.
You have the sweetest accent and most pleasant tone I’ve ever heard. 🥹😭
I never knew about the guide thing, that was great, all the way around! Learned more things than that, but, that was my favorite!!
Finally I get it with a sticker maker!! Thank you!
You're welcome!
I have spent the day learning from you. THANK YOU SO MUCH! It has been a great help! 🥰
You're so welcome!
This was really excellent! Keep them coming.
Glad we could help!
I I am very new to cricut and cricut design space and I am still learning thow to use the program I sure did appreciate you showing us how to put a memo so that we can find the design and or the place that we bought the design. Thanks so much for these hacks
You are so welcome!
I couldn't pick a favourite, they are all fantastic 🎉
These were all great! Thank you Tanner. I’m so glad I saw this before starting. Putting slits in the vinyl for round objects like an ornament is awesome! I also had no clue in Design Space pngs, svgs, jpeg can’t be exported….taking a screenshot is a great hack!
Very welcome!
Favorite is how to take the design to another program! These area all great tips. Thank you so much!
You're so welcome!
Hi, Tanner, love your easy-going videos. Lots of learning ❣️
Thanks so much!
Do you use the cricut app to create all of your designs?
Thank you! New here and loving this video ♥️ I'm not super new but still learning new things with my circuit.
Two windows at the same time 🥹I’m so excited. I already had a cricut air, but my kids brought me a Maker. Now I can use both at the same time 🤯game changer. Thanks Tanner!
That is awesome!❤
Great Hacks! I knew only of a few of them. I'm excited to start using those new to me. Thanks! 🙂
You're welcome!
This video was so easy to learn your tips and to understand why that tip works, Great job, this video was really needed
Sei fortissimo!
Non ho capito bene l'hack 19 ma gli altri li utilizzerò sicuramente, grazie 😊
Just beware when using multiple windows - I was cutting stickers using Print and Cut at the weekend and was using 2 windows. For the 2nd set I printed off and sent to cut - it then cut the stickers in the non-focused window rather than the ones I had just printed. So note to self - when making stickers use just one window
Yes. Thank you!
MUWAHHH!!
We are excited to have you in the community! Best of luck!😊❤
Thank you for this tip about the coffee filter!
You're so welcome!
@@mariselaberlangamariberla9018 Thank you so much for all your advice.
I was really impressed with everything. Some of the techniques I already use, but I picked up some great new tips thanks
Thank you!
New cricut user here! I liked your idea on cleaning the mat with baby wipes. How long do the mats usually last,?
Wow, this was the best hack video! Love you guys. 😻
Thank you!😊
Hello! Thank you so much for all the hacks! I'd like to ask what is the name of the bolder font. You say amberlight and.... chevon? chiffon? SORRY!!!! Thanks so much in advance!
I have a Cricut joy is it worth buying a larger Cricut machine?
You’re the BEST Tanner!! Thank you SO much for sharing your talent!! These hacks are so amazing! I am a beginner and your tutorials take the anxiety out of the process!! Thank you for your thorough explanations!! LOVE your channel!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much for your love and support!❤
Love the flatten & print
My only comment is the baby wipes, make sure they don't have alcohol, alcohol will dissolve the stickiness, so most 'Baby' wipes are alcohol free and some regular or make-up type wipes might have alcohol, just verify and save yourself some frustration and tears! :)
For the removal of the grid, that's a lot of steps. There is a square at the top of the grid where the top meets the left rulers and just click on that little square and the grid will disappear. I find that to be a lot faster.
OMG..Tips 12-20!!! My mind is blown!! So many amazing tips!! I can't wait to see how my projects become so much easier!! Thank you Tanner!!!! 💥💥💥😎
Glad you liked them! Thank you for watching. 😊
Thank you so much 👍. I love what you are teaching me ( everyone ). You are amazing !!
You are so welcome!
omg, thank you for the hack to find what font we used!
My 2 favorite was screen shots and opening the second window. I didn’t know you can do that.
14 was my favorite!! I needed it earlier today! Hope you have a wonderful New Year!
You too!!!
I can't see what the fonts were that you welded together , I love that look !! Can you tell me the names of the two fonts please ? Thanks so much in advance
You are a Cricut angel!! Thank you for these tips!!
You are so welcome!❤

Thanks for the mat cleaning tip.
@@sallyhernandez6260 I have an older 2019 Samsung TabA
@@PrincessV444 OH! Then, I'm sure my Android tablet, will do just fine! Thank you!
Omg love the ornament back thanks!!
So glad you love it!
@@MakersGonnaLearn yes I’m very new and learning each day lol
How would you apply the your print from a printer since it is paper or card stock? Would you use transfer tape?
I am a brand new Cricut user (got my Maker this Christmas). Do I have to use an Easy Press for HTV or can I use a regular iron?
Hi I'm looking at getting a Cricut but it all looks so daunting. I hope if/when I can afford it I'll be able to do the technical side. Thanks so much for your tips 😊
You're so welcome!
Hack ?
#15... Mind BLOWN!
Thank you so much for sharing. I knew some. But most i didn't know. So thanks for the tips. Is their a way you can do a video on how to use your phone ? I have a chromebook and cricut doesn't support chromebooks. So I have to use my phone which is a android galaxy S22 ultra.
Thank you so much, I'm a newbie to Cricut and love these hacks! 😃💫💫💫💫
You are so welcome!
Good tips, Tanner. Did not know about hack 10…will be very useful.
Glad to hear it!
