The DRY EYE DIET (Eat This, Not That for Relief) 2024

  • Dry Eyes is no laughing matter. There are many drops you can buy to "treat" this condition, but none of them correct the root cause of dry eye. That's where the dry eye diet comes in, telling you what to eat and what to avoid to improve or reverse your symptoms of dry eye.
The physiology of the eye is quite complex, so taking some eye supplement is not going to help much. And, by adding the foods I talk about in this video, and avoiding the foods I call out, you can give your eye everything it needs to stay moist and comfortable.

I have suffered with dry eyes for years due to Sjogrens Syndrome. In the last 60 days I took your advice and started eating lots of bacon. I put a teaspoon of bacon grease each cup of hot tea. I also began sleeping with a Hand towel covering my eyes at night. I have seen great improvement. I no longer awake with eye pain. I started strength training, no sugar, no caffeine and I have lost 10 total inches in 60 days. I'm 74 and determined to be healthy. Thanks for all you do.

I've recently tried castor oil on my eye lashes to gently get it into my eyes. It has helped quite a bit.
As a side note, my husband has been having sharp near pain in his knee for months. The doctors are stumped. After watching a RUclips video, I put the oil on a 4x4' gauze, wrapped a bit of plastic wrap around it yo keep the oil ftom getting on things, and then a knee sleeve over that. He hasn't needed oxycodone for three nights now! And in the morning, his pain was completely gone. After suffering for months, we are very thankful. 🙏🏼
      All the best.

I'm 64 year old woman who needs to lose at least 100 pounds. I've started the carnivore diet this week after watching Dr. Berry's and others videos. So excited to do this. My goal is to do it for at least a month and assess my health and keep going if I feel it's going well. After just a few days I feel lighter and my skin seems softer and more clear. I think I'm probably in a bit of a detox from sugar and carbs, but I'm very much thrilled with how full and satisfied I feel. Thank you Dr Berry! I plan to check back in with my results after a month. 🙏❤️👍

So happy Dr. Berry presented on this subject, which is rarely discussed. This condition can be so very painful it is beyond anything. Very valuable nutritional points made here. I have never heard of any actual research to back his ideas up, though, but that's natural since you can't patent food. My eye docs never speak about what Dr. B. just said, and he's not an eye doctor. I am eating high fat and am losing weight, as it keeps me from getting hungry.

Anyone who thinks supplements are totally unnecessary is usually wrong. Hundreds of human studies show how helpful they can be, particularly for those with limited diets. I understand that omega 3s have no value but Triglyceride Omega 3s in human studies show benefits for dry eyes though it's not going to make or break and they cost a lot more so I would not recommend it. I have found that Lacterrifin capsules and alpha lipoic acid (200 mg daily) is effective but don't take 600 mg or your hair can fall out. Glycine supplements can help and collagen can help. There is a Preservative Free eye ointment with manuka honey and glycerin that has really helped severe eye dryness. Squeezing not blinking my eyes helped me produce tears.

Thank you always for your knowledge and expertise. I found you a year and a half ago and went on the keto living. I lost 40 pounds and as a female I feel awesome. My husband lost 55 pounds and he looks and feels great. Thank you. However, I just awaken with pain in my right eye and did not know why. I felt like I had sand in my eye and my eyes are so tired and I feel exhausted so I have to close them in the middle of the day so I can continue with my day. I went to the eye doctor and he suggested lubricate eye drops but I am applying them 6 seven times a day. As you said, the sand feeling in my eye has disappeared but my eyes ache with pain and I need to close my eyes or take a nap. I also have high cholesterol of over 400 and my doctor wants me to stop keto but I feel that my cholesterol is hereditary and it is always going to be high. I am a mess right now and so confused. I am increasing my omega with fish such as salmon and I hope I will feel better by the end of April.
Again, I am lost for words. I stopped all medication for high cholesterol and I feel great. I can do my walks, I can sleep, I am no longer inflamed, and my body aches have disappeared. Thank you for all your insights and knowledge. I will increase my omega intake and hope this eye dry can at least subside or disappear.

It's better than get vitamins through your diet but do you want to gain weight and change your diet? Sure . Well you should if your diet it too much carbs and worse sugar, in particular.
So believer me you should eat right but take more supplements of fish oil, omega 6 (if you have my diet, you will need it.. he's talk about those who eat a lot of junk food, etc) , olive oil , lutein, zeaxanthin. Or go out to the west coast for the perfect salmon.
There are studies underway that indicate choline is good for Meibomian gland dysfunction. Glutathione supplements could help or go ahead take a lot of time to eat the right foods. Take Spermidine - read up on it first, don't trust me or Ken . B12 (not synthetic) can possibly help. Check with you doctor first but eat eggs, don't worry about the cholesterol; Ken is right.
Also they have a new eye product .. called Travaya .. may not be as expensive as you read. Look into it. I have nothing to do with the company. Look into eye drops. Just be careful

Yeah I'm addicted now.. had chronic debilitating nerve-pain for a third of my life that doctors kept getting me to spend tens of thousands on 'managing'... until I found the root cause and was able to **cure** it through lifestyle change... then followed the *actual resolution* of many PTSD triggers through inner-work and lifestyle change instead of medications to manage symptoms (I'm happier than ever and take no medications whatsoever to feel that way), I corrected my chronic eczema and dry eyes by adjusting my diet, etc... nobody told me I could be perfectly healthy all on my own if I knew what lifestyle changes to make. I feel so much more free and empowered these days and take pride in being responsible for my own health!

I ended up staying an extra couple of days bc my internal organs were out of place with scar tissue and it ended up being a more complicated surgery. Since I wasn’t expecting to stay I didn’t have my lid wipes or anything. Ever since, my eyes seem cured of dry eye.
I wonder if the tumor (grapefruit size), was causing inflammation or an infection? Since surgery i also no longer have back pain. I realize this could be temporary, but I’m praying for a full recovery of my weird symptoms.

I never really thought of it as dry eye because it was always accompanied with other allergy symptoms. I just lumped them all together as allergies, especially since the optometrist once told me I had allergic conjunctivitis.
Since I started keto, and more particularly since I stopped eating yogurt, my "seasonal" allergies have disappeared. And until just now I didn't even realize that the dry irritated eyes were also no longer a problem.

I worked with a menopausal lady who had dry eyes. I had read an article that mentiioned flax seed oil being beneficial to use in diet. She bought some and told me many months later that not only had it worked but that she was now wearing contact lenses for the first time ever!

Thank you, Dr. Berry. My husband has “dry eye” and suffers with redness, swelling, continuous tearing in his right eye only. I’ve heard that tear duct plugs would help. I never knew this about those types of foods you’d mentioned. I’ll definitely be updating our Ketogenic Lifestyle to accommodate the needs of his mobian glands for the excretion of mebum. What an excellent explanation. Serendipitously, we reside in the Pacific Northwest. I am so glad you listed those foods to avoid (as well as the advice on the dietary supplements...I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY). Thank you!

My eye doc put put plugs in my eyes. One eye never produced the first tear. The other one constantly watered and would run down my face. I had to carry a tissue all the time. It was like I was looking thru water. Two weeks later I had them removed. The plugs were an expensive mistake.

@@marilynguinnane4663 I've been taking iodine for other benefits, but I do remember tear production (saliva and sweat also) as benefits of supplementing or inability of those things as symptoms of iodine deficiency.

Thank you Dr. Berry for educating about the value of eating high fat meats and low carb healthy whole food and eliminating bad oils and crappy carbs to eliminate dry eyes - and so many other health issues.

I didn’t have dry eye problems until I developed glaucoma over 30 years ago. Some surgeries were less than effective, I think some of them were mistakes and in my right eye I had nine different surgeries and six in my left eye. Cataract surgery began problems with my left eye which in the past was not a problem with glaucoma like the right eye was. So I developed gout and I’m not supposed to eat any kind of organ meat like liver. I still do eat some of it I know there’s so many things on the gout list of no no’s that you must eat something to live. What did man do 500 years ago? I suppose just die of something early. I guess I didn’t mention, I’m blind in my right eye about 95%, I can see light but nothing beyond that. I also didn’t mention that my surgeon recommended that I get eyelid surgery for droopy eyelids, that contributed to dry eyes as well so I have used drops in the past, I’ll see what I can do to make it better. Everything that they say is bad now in a year or two they’ll say it is good, like butter.

Thank you for your insightful and valuable information about dry eye. I suffer from severe GVHS after undergoing a transplant. I tried using a vegan diet when I had aplastic anemia and it did not work. Now that I have ocular eye disease from cancer I will try to eat more Omega rich foods and foods rich in vitamin a. You have all these so called healers liked Gerson who spoke about juicing before she died but she did not even have ay sort of degree. It is unreal that people get the nerve to write books and open healing centers that lack any form of education.

Back in 1986 I had a laser surgery closure of part of the tear duct on eacheye. It didn;t work and I have had this issue for decades. I have been on Keto for 5 weeks graduating into it and like all the other benefits I just realized the last few days that my dry eyes are almost completely gone. It is disappearing like every other form of inflamation I had.

AHAH! Many thanks Dr. Berry. Have suffered with dry eye my whole life getting worse as I aged inherited from Dad like other auto immune things. Now I know why my frequently eaten Kippers in a can haven't helped. They are packed in canola oil otherwise no unhealthy oils for me. All Wild Salmon from now on. I only ate farm raised salmon once. Instead of seasoning my iron skillet as always that junk seemed to strip my pan of seasoning.

I have over producing tears from Dry Eye Condition where Dry Eye condition is over producing my tear production so my condition is called Over producing tears from Dry Eye so could you please make a video on this as I sure would love it as I love all your videos and your videos got me started on Keto by explaining what Keto was and let me know I with my low income I could afford to eat a Keto diet and as of this date I have lost 65 pounds on Keto in a year. I started at the weight on January 28, 2022 at 223 pounds and as of January 9, 2023 I weigh 158 pounds. I love eating Keto as I have COPD and never smoked got it from second hand smoke from living with smoking parents and now I can breath better and I had Spinal Meningitis in 1965 at 5 weeks old as a baby and my loss of balance issues are still there but are much better and I can walk an hour before I have to sit down and can do my exercises I learned at Physical Therapy without pain and I now have no pain in my head and can grow my hair out from bald now and I can stand up at the stove and cook my lunch without pain and I owe it all to your video telling me what the Keto diet is and oh I have had a laser surgery in 9/1993 to remove my gallbladder and as long as I do not eat foods that are a mouth full of grease I can do Keto and I take generic questran in the morning as soon as I get up to not have diarrhea from my loss of gallbladder. So thank You for making these Keto and Carnivore videos.
