I took the Fujifilm X-Pro2 and 10-24mm f/4 OIS out for a test review around the streets of Melbourne, Australia. Capturing mostly the laneways around the CBD, I really enjoyed using this mirrorless camera instead of my DSLR.

Hello!! are the photos without any editing or modifications?
Holy cow you found Alamby! Don't let her go, capture her and preserve her!!
I've been to Melbourne for half a year and i feel like time turned back when watching this video Great shots, fantastic work! Greetings from Germany mate
Glad to provide some nostalgia for you!
i think every places are beautiful on there own ways and its how we see it. capturing each places just give us memory to remember. right? 😀👍
Just when Kai and Lok left DRTv Alamby came out. Im so happy!
Alamby!!!
Just shot in the same area - the Melbourne street art is amazing.
OMG, you were so close to my home! If only I came out at the right time of the day!
Hi. Agree with you for the aperture ring of the 10-24 and there have no aperture indication so you need to watch your screen. I don't remember, did they gave you the 50-140 f/2.8 ? It's an amazing lense, i love it.
i have an x-t1 with fix lenses, zoom lens, and a manual focus lens. A range finder seems like fun, but what would I feel if I switch to a range finder type of camera? Like what would I have to deal with while taking photos with a zoom lens.
Love that fuji colour on the streets of Melbourne! Subscribed and thumbs up!
Cheers! Those colours really are quite special...
Great video Joe! I have the Xpro2 and planning to get the 10-24mm lens soon, is the camera front heavy with this lens? Cause I bought a grip for the Xpro2 since it's front heavy if I attached the 16-50 f2.8 lens.
I'd recommend the a6000 for vlogging cos the video is amazing with blazing fast autofocus, but yea ik it's more for photography. You could also go with the sony a5100 which is a cheaper alternative. It also has a flip out screen for vlogging
The flip out screen is quite key for me, and I already have the A7R II, so I may as well use that if I'm making compromises. The A5100 is an option, but I think if I stayed with Sony I'd want to have S-Log. As straight up processed pictures/colours are concerned, I actually prefer Canon or Fujifilm.
The whole ordeal is going to be a massive compromise for sure 😐
I miss Melbourne so much...love your photos! :)
I'm going to be in Melbourne 4 Christmas. it's been a bit cool there this past week. Looking forward to getting around with my Sony RX IV.
Surprised about your issues with flies.
I love your approach to photography, just very relaxed. I'd love to shoot like that more 🤙
wow.beautiful australia.Awesome video.tenx for sharing😍
Melbourne is definitely quite photogenic 😬 - Which photo was your favourite?
did you updated the xpro2 firmware ? there are major improvements in focus points and the auto focus speed as the battery life and the buffer time
Nice work! Joe,Thank!! 👌
wow australia is so beautiful and great vid as always.. the beginning is quite cute haha
Haha yeah, those damn flies! I actually got even more attacked whilst filming my Instagram story 😵
you actually replied haha that's unexpexted XD
how about some photography terms and camera functions for upcoming videos?? :)
hi joe, great video! do you use classic chrome film simulation? would you mind sharing your camera settings? the colors look good!
How do you feel about the indoor, lowlight situation with the group photo? How did the X-PRO2 handle that situation? Being someone who does music photography and the occasional low light at a wedding, I am curious. Thanks, Joe!
It did pretty well, but it wasn't a very thorough test at all haha. Plus, I was a few beers down the road as well…
No worries, glad you thought it did well. Thanks for responding, and Merry Christmas!
love melbourne ❤
Awesome video I'm looking at the Fuji XT-2 as a upgrade for the 700d, Keep up the great work!
Is that Alamby who used to be on DigitalRev TV?
yup
Hi there ,
Are u still taking video only with the Sony?
Is this vlog taken with the Sony? Or canon?
This (and other vlogs of this style) was only filmed with the Canon G7 X, which I'm looking to upgrade.
Love it!
That big ol lens is not really subtle.....you may as well used a dslr........by the way is that shutter noise the actual shutter of this camera or sound effects?
hi Joe, In which flim simulation did you do the shoot /
Vlogging......Canon G3X? Has the inputs you need and a flip up screen. Also really pleased to see Alamby.....well done Joe.
I love the X-pro2.. the very camera I have right now. But, looking at your style and what you are used to, I'd say you might be a lot happier with the X-T2.. wonder if your contact with Fujifilm Australia can hook you up with one to try for a while.
Yes, you can use all the lenses from the Fuji line up on the X-Pro2, but, I think a good number of them are best to use with the EVF. and, if you end up using the EVF more.. then what's the point of the hybrid VF if you will mostly, if not always, end up using the EVF?.. Take for instance the10-24 you have here.. it's a great ultra-wide, but about half the focal range is unusable with the OVF on the X-Pro2.. framelines only work at the widest of 18mm and up.. anything wider just is too wide to represent framelines in the OVF.
And on the extreme other end with teles, the framelines will get way too small to be of use with the OVF with anything past 56mm.. maybe 90, but that's not really going to be that great.. 56 I feel would be the maximum tele to use with the OVF.
Anyways, look forward to seeing what you have next to show.
Yep-You're absolutely right! I've found myself using the EVF most of the time and definitely have my eyes on the X-T2. I've found the 35mm lens to be great with this X-Pro2 and the OVF, but want to try the 24mm 1.4.
Cheers!
Omg I was just about to say that girl looks like alamby and it is actually her OMG :D
great video coz a lot of samples! nice
You convinced me to buy the Fujifilm 10-24 F4 lens. :-)
I just ordered one- your videos were very helpful! As side note Fuji just issued new Firmware Version 3.0 - which I'm sure your input to them inspired some of the changes!
Awesome! V3.0 brought out quite a few awesome features that I'm pleased to see. There's another update coming in a few weeks time as well, which should be good!
I believe you can change the focus direction in the camera menu, but I may be wrong...
Great video, as always, and cool seeing Alamby :D
great vid as always ☺
Thanks for stopping by 👍
have you ever thought of changing to Sony RX100 V for Vlogging?
What's JB HI FI like? Is it a good stereo store?
Vali,
South eastern US
It's interesting. Their stores look like they're built on a budget with no real "shine" to them. Yet they do have a large amount of stock and okay prices. Think of it like an indy computer store that has expanded to a chain…
Awesome stuff man
Thanks man! Did you have a favourite photo from the vlog?
Are the JPG files directly output?
nice video!!!
the other girl at 10:20 is the girl from digital rev tv ??
nikolas agis Yes, she is
ALAMBY!
There's nothing inconspicuous about that lens. It's huge for street photography.
good video
I am looking for a DSLR under £500
what should I get?
You should check out my blog post about essential DSLR gear to get started with: allam.co/essential
used Nikon D7100 or Canon 70d
Nice work
Alamby OMG, it is been a while!!!
ALAMBBYYYYYYY !!!!! \O/
Great video! Missed alamby on camera :p
I never preview my photos. The delay between shots bugs me too much.
yeay...alamby is here.... do a messy thing with her, like on drtv does berfore.. :D
more alamby please, and you should maybe try lumix LX100
5:33 someone’s going home in the back of a divvy van
Love your street photos. Btw you should check out the Canon GX5 for vlogging, another point and shoot but it's pretty interesting: small package with great IS and even a hot shoe mount. I haven't gotten a chance to look at the M5
Yeah I was very interested in that when it came out, though the lack of an audio input is slightly disappointing.
Micro Four Thirds camears offers some nice options with 4k and flip screen as well as many of them have touch screens as well. you should look into panasonic first and olympus 2nd... well, only the new OM-D EM-1 Mk2 will have 4k, but it's a really nice camera. I think Panasonic is better for video though.
DigREV is falling apart and after years Alamby shows up in one of your video Joe. Mmm a dark masterplan ahahahah.
Jokes aside, lovely review and awesome style as always :)
old skool drtv. yes!
Great 👍🏻
Were you ever attaced by anyone for vlogging?
ALAMBY!!!
we want a travel videos please
Lipstick?
I think I saw Alamby!
ALAMBY!
How does PQ Pro-2 vs XT-10
Technically the X-Pro2 has a higher quality on a newer sensor with more pixels and detail, but most of the quality will come from the lenses which are interchangeable between the two cameras.
Sawyer Hartman recently made a video on EOS M5. He kind of talks about all of his equipment used for vlogging but he also uses Canon so...
Anyways here's the link: ruclips.net/video/vFozgJL3jnc/видео.html
X-pro line of cameras is not quite made for left eye dominant people :D
Wait!? Is that the girl from drtv?
Was. She left before Kai and Lok.
like for seeing Alamby
funny intro haha
watching this makes me happy but extremely sad... because I don't own the x-pro2 :'(
It's an incredibly enjoyable camera to use! Have you experienced it at all?
not at all :(, rn i'm experimenting with my father's old Canon Ae-1 Program, currently saving for the x-t10
1st
lmao is that alamby from drtv
Camera might be good, but your shots lack clarity in regards to subject focus ...they're snapshots nothing more
I know what you're saying, but remember, something will always suffer when you're making both photos and videos on the same day. The point of what I'm trying to say in this video, is this camera makes me me want to take photos, even if they're not of anything substantial or special. It energises a passion for photography and allows me to capture these snapshots enjoyably.
Alamby!!!
