    I have owned my X-Pro2 for about 3 months now, and I love it. I have been using Nikon DSLRs for some years but this Fuji has been a refreshing change and is now pretty much my 'go everywhere' camera. I enjoyed this video very much. Thanks for posting.

    Best review of the Xpro2 hands down and I have watched them ALL.
    Got an xpro2 for 3 weeks now and I gotta say this review is 100% accurate.
    Jpgs out of this thing look frikin amazing.
    99% of the times the raw files are just transferred to my Nas for backup, almost never used.
    Btw battery % was been fixed

      Totally agree with you. Also, the picts in this review are nice, which is more and more rare today, in camera reviews. One thing to add about amazing colors or treatment with Fuji cameras (I got the X-10 for years as numeric complement to Nikon F3, Leica M6 and Lomo Lca) is that Fuji knows about films ;-). Can tell you that the cheap Superia 200 which you can by in supermarket, is stunning! Ciao

    Very thorough review, the best one I've seen so far. I thought you had just enough specs details, while also sharing other aspects of how it feels in the hand and sharing the photos you took with it, which by the way were fantastic. I am mainly a film shooter (also some digital with my XPro-1) but agree with you that the film simulations that Fuji has in the camera are spot on, especially the Classic Chrome. Magical!

    Great review man I'm very happy that I ran into this video lol I think this is the best review of x-pro2 I've watched so far with raw and jpeg image comparison and all that. I bought the camera and the 23mm f1.4 lens myself and I'm loving it
    Funny thing is how people react to the iso/shutter dial differently. I find that very amusing to the touch like the cameras back in the days but many don't like it for its lack of speed when changing the ISO.

    Well done Zed, this is by far the best, most informative and enjoyable video I've watched on the X-Pro 2 (and I think I've seen all of them!) - you've mind my mind up, I'm buying one! Also looking forward to your lens reviews, I plan to start with the 35mm F2 but I'm also tempted by the 16mm and 56mm - Cheers - Peter

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  8 лет назад

      the 56 is much slower to focus but it's also magical wide open just like the canon 85 1.2. But the 35 f2 is a perfect match. I have rarely taken it off the camera.

  • @davidowen9308
    @davidowen9308 8 лет назад

    I own an X-Pro2 so just one technical thing -- the battery level IS shown as a percentage with the LCD which makes it a huge improvement from previous Fuji cameras. In general nice, fair review!

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  8 лет назад

      Really? Is that an option you can change? All I see is an indicator icon but it shows no actual number of percent that it's at.

    • @davidowen9308
      @davidowen9308 8 лет назад

      The "info display" (i.e. full display mode) is one that only exists on the LCD. On this, the battery is always shown as a percentage and does not need to be configured. Not obvious, I agree. Manual pg. 32 explains.

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  8 лет назад

      +David Owen ah yeah I just tried that. I see what you're saying. That's exactly what I want but on the main live view screen! I wonder why it's like that? It's not like it takes up a ton of space on the screen.

    • @davidowen9308
      @davidowen9308 8 лет назад

      I see no reason why it can't also be on the EVF. I also see no reason why it can't be on the main liveview screen. Maybe a firmware update will tidy things up a bit.

    Depending on a person's needs, for me this is a great second/backup camera and a primary camera when you just want to have fun and don't need a more traditional type of body. You're right, there is something magical about the X-Pro 1 and 2. The original was a little slow but still called out to be shot with for various reasons and it's just a beautiful body to look at anyway.

    I was looking at Mirror-less Cameras... Leica is too expensive.. Thinking of getting a Fuji... Confused between X100t and xt10.. i know xt10 has interchangeable lens so that's an advantage , tho read some articles on attachable lens for x100t .....what would you suggest to start off with mirror less cameras ... x100t/xpro2/xt10

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  8 лет назад +1

      If you have the money to spend get the Xpro-2. Or get the Xt-10 and a couple lenses for the same price. The the X100t is a fixed lens camera. I wouldn't recommend it unless that's all you need.

      @LeeZavitz  8 лет назад

      I have not tried the 16-50 but I'm sure it's an all around great lens. I personally prefer to shoot with primes and the one lens I usually keep on the camera is the 35mmf2 . It's sharp, fast auto focus, small, weather sealed, cheap.

    Awesome video man! I'm surprised that you only have 900 subscribers.. I think that will change soon if you continue making these high quality videos. Maybe you could make a video comparing the sooc jpg quality of the A6300 and the Xpro-2.. it would be interesting to see the difference in color, sharpness, ISO performance and overall feel of the image.

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  8 лет назад

      Thanks I appreciate it. I could do a comparison. The only thing is that they are in different price brackets so it's tough to know if many ppl would be interested in that comparison. If I had lots of money I would rather compare it to a Leica ;)

    • @tvurk
      @tvurk 8 лет назад

      +Zed ProMedia Yes the price is different but the sensor is very similar (maybe even the same Sony sensor but without the AA filter in the X-Pro2) so it would be very interesting to see the difference in processing between them.

  • @zvesledahl
    @zvesledahl 8 лет назад

    Can you help me decide what Fuji camera best fits my needs? I'm currently deciding between the xpro2 and the xt-2.
    They are completely different cameras, I know. I am really interested in the xpro2, but it's my understanding the xt-2 gives you more value for your money.
    Would I use the added features everyday of the xt2, no. I won't use it for 4K everyday; probably sparingly. I also won't use the advanced sports focusing everyday. The flippy screen isn't a wow factor for me.
    My shooting style isn't really street photography. I like long exposure, causal walk around shooting, and landscapes.
    I just feel like the xt2 has more features for the money. I feel like in a perfect world, I could buy both. But I don't have that kind of cash.
    Would love to hear what you think. Thank Zach

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  8 лет назад +1

      zvesledahl at the end of the day it comes down to af speed and ergonomics and the xt2 wins. The Xpro2 is a sexier camera and has the hybrid optical view finder but the xt2 is the better camera

    I need help tooo, deciding on wether to go with the X T-1 or X Pro-1(going on budget) I heard that X T-1 is a way better performer, but that X Pro-1 just has a special feel to it. I'm also getting the 35mm f2 cuz your reviews are just the best I've seen its too informative and really does help us decide what we wanna get. Keep up the good work(thumbs up emoji)

    • @Cagey7531
      @Cagey7531 7 лет назад

      I have both, I enjoy using both but I have to say the XT-1 is the better camera all-round. I use the battery grip for it and find it really comfy in hand. I also prefer the evf in the centre, more like a dslr. But that's personal preference. The Xpro1 does have a charm about it, I'm glad I own one, but it's more my second camera. It produces a different image to the XT-1, a little more 'film-like'. But the EVF is better on the T1, it's much faster for AF and you get the tilt screen, which is great if you ever plan on doing macro. Also the video is ok on the T1, I wouldn't touch it on the pro1. Hope this helps. I know your post was a few months back.

  • @PeterEvansPeteTakesPictures
    @PeterEvansPeteTakesPictures 8 лет назад

    Enjoyed that review, man. Hope to see more from you. For form's sake I would have shown the AF speed outside of centre focus, but it's not overwhelmingly important. Other than that, top stuff. (I was left wondering if the skateboarder collided with you, however.) As to the 16mm, it's a very nice lens - sharp, great control, brilliant macro... however, I find that I'm still using my 18mm f/2 more. It's a lens that is damned by faint praise in Fuji circles, but I think that it's a hidden gem. It's a lot smaller which makes a big difference for me when shooting street (I reserve my 16mm for weddings) and it has this 'pop' to it, this 3D quality which I feel is ahead of most other Fuji lenses. Nothing I can really explain, but for me the rendition makes up for its slightly inferior sharpness to its bigger brethren. You can pick them up cheap on the used market too. Worth taking a look!

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  8 лет назад

      Thanks dude. I might make another video detailing more on the autofocus side of things. It's hard to fit every feature of a camera into one video without it getting boring. But I can say once you get out of the phase detect points it gets pretty dodgy in focusing near the edges of the screen.

  • @bhop0073
    @bhop0073 8 лет назад

    Just curious, do you not use a strap? I only ask because you mention you've dropped it a couple times, a strap could help there.. great review btw. I had the X100 when it was first released and then upgraded to the X100T, so I can understand the Fujifilm "magic" you mentioned. I've been wanting this camera for a long time, just gotta save a little more.

    • @LeeZavitz

      I don't use a strap. They are always in the way. Unless I'm shooting an event and have two cameras on me. I will never use one haha. I would never drop a camera that's in my hand. When I mentioned that it dropped was because it fell out of the bag. Thanks for watching. It's a beauty camera you will love it!

    wow! that headshot @7:09 is stunning. Did you use fill flash or a reflector for that shot?
    that classic chrome looks amazing
    BTW you're one of few youtube reviewers who actually takes nice pictures.

      Thanks I appreciate it! I used a reflector. Haha well I'm not a reviewer I'm a photographer. Most reviewers just read spec sheets. I'd rather just show what you can do with the gear because that's what us photographers will do with it. Thanks for watching.

      Do you think it would be possible to grab that level of still quality from video footage?

      Yeah just check out my Flickr account. You can see them full quality there. Link is in the description.

    Good review. Subscribed. Just fyi - the folding thumb-grip from Lensmate really helps the ergonomics, and the half-case by Gariz adds just enough meat to the bottom for a pinky rest. Cheers!

      Thanks! And the half case makes the camera look even sexier ;)

      Yeah it does - as do the Lensmate soft-releases! - but I thought I'd just stick to the uncontroversial benefits. ;)

    Hey - I love your videos, great work! I was wondering - at 7:09, did you alter any of the settings in-camera (sharpening, coloring, etc.)?

      No I made sure to show you guys the exact .jpg untouched. Just the classic chrome film simulation.

    Great review! The only thing missing for me is more info about the OVF, really can't find a lot of info about it. Would be awesome to have it compared to something like a Leica M.

    I was using the X-Pro2 until I could find a Leica digital rangefinder that I liked. I finally found the Leica M10.
    Today, the M10 sits on the shelf because I enjoy shooting with the X-Pro2 more.

    great video thanks, I just bought Fuji x pro2 to take some nice pics. I love long exposure photography and I am trying to learn something. When I have done some long exp I noticed that I have many hot pixels all over the frame (maybe 100000 I don’t know). (exposure time 30-180 sn). Did you notice this kind of problem?

    • @LeeZavitz

      How high is your iso? Do you have a link?

    • @serhatalkan9261
      @serhatalkan9261 8 лет назад

      I used base iso. please kindly find the link two raw files included. yadi.sk/d/J16tJJF2sENcX

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  8 лет назад

      I checked out the shots. If you dont zoom in really close the shots look beautiful. But from what I can tell It doesn't look like hot pixels. It looks more like paper fibers which is strange. So you were at ISO 200? It looks pretty clean as for noise. Its just odd that there are those little white flecks of fiber or something.

    • @serhatalkan9261
      @serhatalkan9261 8 лет назад

      +Zed ProMedia I was at base iso. When I set as my background photo they are seen in my screen. Yes it is very weird noise. I sent my photos to Fuji hopefully they will examine and come up with solution. Thank you very much.

    I know this video is old af, but just wondering as a fellow xpro2 owner how do you get such sharp images with the jpgs, I find even with noise reduction at -4 they still lose detail

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  6 лет назад

      Never had a problem with loss of detail and I dont have anything special set. Same goes for all of the fuji cams I've shot with using the xtransIII sensor. Maybe your unit has issues with focus?

    • @SebsTech1
      @SebsTech1 6 лет назад

      Zed Pro Media it’s not like serious but it’s not as sharp as the raw, do you do any post on them?

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  6 лет назад

      SebKobersy I only edit raw files from Fuji for my personal and client work. Jpg usually just for RUclips to show what it looks like un edited

  • @RobertKwolek

    Nice review! Are you using Lightroom to process your RAWs? Also, do you think you might do a comparison of the image quality from the A6300 with the XPro2, since they both use 24MP Sony-made APS-C sensors?

  • @andrepoon
    @andrepoon 8 лет назад

    Get the 16mm. You won't regret it. It's amazing.
    Hey, do you think Fuji will do a firmware upgrade where you can change the ISO by one of the command dials like the shutter speed (with the ISO dial set to auto). Would make sense.

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  8 лет назад +1

      Once I get some more money I will. It sucks because Fuji has a huge sale right now the lens is $300 off. And yes that would be nice if the rear command dial could be mapped as iso.

    The very BEST review on a camere (I am torn between the X-T2 and the X-Pro2) and I enjoyed ever minute of it. You know what you talk about and you touch the things that are important to know. The J'pegs are awsome! I would have loved to give you 2 tumbs up, but RUclips is fighting back!
    One question about the EVF / OVF - When you first start up the X-Pro2 - does it always start up with the OVF as default, or can you define in the menue that the camera will start up with the EVF as default? I had a X100s for loan once and I hatede that I had to switch the front-lever (from OVF to EVF) EVERY time I pulled out the camera .
    Best regards from Norway!
    P.S: I just ordered the XF 16mm f/1.4 ... for my X-T1
    :o)Thank you.Subscribed, naturally!!

    Lee, first of all great review.
    If you would have to choose only one camera would it be the x-pro2 with or the a6300?

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  8 лет назад +1

      Xpro2. The lenses are awesome for Fuji and the image quality is magic. If you need faster AF and a camera that can also do awesome video then I would choose the A6300. But if its mainly for photography, hands down Xpro2.

    Great video, thanks for sharing. Can I ask, do you make any adjustments in the jpeg settings to get those shots? I love classic chrome but can't settle on things like highlight, shadow and sharpness settings! Cheers again bud

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  8 лет назад

      Thanks for asking. No, in those shots they are untouched jpg. I was using a reflector in the majority of the shots to help with lighting and keeping the subject light closer to the background so I didn't have to adjust the highlights in raw. Sometimes I've found the highlights can be more than I want with classic chrome but if you get it right in camera it's so beautiful.

    • @ryanprosser2502

      Agreed. I actually upgraded to the xt1 from the x100s specifically for classic chrome! As I said mate, great shots. Looking froward to more videos!

    • @LeeZavitz

      Lazarus the 5D original? If it's a 5dmkii or mkiii I would say not really but if it's the original 5D then it might be worth it to you.

      Zed ProMedia its the original, I'm skeptical about whether I'd like the viewfinder. I haven't tried it.
      with the Evf is it similar to a DSLR?

    • @LeeZavitz
      @LeeZavitz  8 лет назад

      Lazarus no the EVF takes some time to get use to. It's not like an optical viewfinder. It's pretty awesome though. You can see what the image is going to look like before you take it.
