Enjoyable video. One thing of note - at about 6:00 you are talking about the viewfinder ,and there are actually THREE options. There's also the hybrid "picture in picture" option, which overlays a small EVF in the corner of the OVF. This is particularly useful if you like to shoot with the OVF, but you need a magnified view for manual focusing / focus-peaking. Another useful feature is the overlay which shows you the field of view from your attached lens, while also showing you the surrounding area in the OVF. Great for street or wildlife photographers, so you can see what is about to enter your frame. AND there's the overlay which shows you the true focus point, corrected for parallax. All in all, the viewfinder is the single biggest reason for choosing the X-Pro2 over the upcoming X-T2, in my opinion. I love it!
+timstechblog By the way - you mentioned the diopter, and that's one of my biggest gripes about the X-Pro2. It is poorly positioned and unprotected, so I am constantly throwing it out of focus just by pulling my camera out of the bag. I'm glad they included it, because my eyesight is not great... but I wish the implementation had been better.
+MasonDixonPhoto so many awesome features!! Would have to make a 7 part series just to cover it. Haha. I also knock that little dial too. I don't even know how it happens. I wish it also has a little push button to lock it.
+MasonDixonPhoto I have read about this from several people but although I have my X-Pro2 in a small Lowepro case and pull it in and out very regularly I have never knocked the dioptre dial at all. Not even once. But I guess it is luck of the draw more than anything else.
Man, I gre up in the days of film, when you were stuck with the same ISO for all 36 frames! So the concept of changing ISO to me is totally foreign. In film days you carried a second body with a different roll of film if you wanted a different ISO, so the little dial on top of the X-pro2 is just fine IMHO.
Well, Fuji's Velvia 50 slide film checked in at just about 16megapixels, about the X-pro1 and X-E1 resolution. So a 24mp camera like the X-pro2 will be superior resolution, and if you do the job right you won't need to mess around with RAW files in post.
One of the best reviews I've seen. Love the info with a real life feel. Is is how all reviews should be done. I really want this camera. I shoot with a X Pro1, X 100T combo and this is both cameras in one with bonus features. With the bump in resolution and weather sealing, I can now seriously leaving my Canon gear behind. Thanks for an awesome review.
This is what a review should be- actually showing me the tactile functions of the camera. I'm moving up from micro 4/3 and looking for a camera that is still compact enough to stuff in a jacket pocket in sketchy areas or to cram into a backpack or carry-on, yet give me better high ISO image quality than Micro 4/3. Few reviews give me a real idea of the size of the camera in hand but you show that very well. Thanks!
Great video! Did I notice a dab of condensation under the ISO dial window at 4.39s though? That's a worry - I have this kit and live in the UK where it's ALWAYS raining!
At 2:59 you mentioned wedding and portrait photography. I am now considering coming over to Fuji from Nikon. Is the XT-2 or Xpro-2 two the better option for wedding and portrait needs ?
Awesome review Tim! I'm really into Fuji now just got my XE2 for a great deal and really want to get my first prime. Could you make a small review about the 35mm f2?? I think this one is a good first prime for me.
It's a great lens and definitily a good starting point. Expecially from a value for money point of view. The only thing that bothered me a bit in the beginning was that the aperture ring is rather stiff compared to my other Fuji lenses. But that can also be a good thing. What bothers me a bit more is that there is almost no space to hold it tight when attaching it to or taking it off the camera. In the beginning I always ended up holding it at the aperture ring which isn't a good idea of course. But now I'm used to it.
I will be probably picking up an X-T2 when it is out to replace my X-T10. Fuji cameras and glass is awesome! I love how your camera lady "drifts" the frame at some points. haha... Thanks for the upload.
Thanks for the review. I just ordered mine yesterday. I am a little upset that I have to pay $130 for the extended grip (both because that's a ridiculous price and I shouldn't have to buy one in the first place), but the camera still won me over.
great review! Is it possible to save the same photo in jpg with the film simulator in one of the cards and the raw file in another card without the effect?
Thanks Reen! Buggy? Not at all. I've had it lock up once for no reason but it was while I was doing a wireless transfer. No issues while shooting. Is yours buggy?
+timstechblog good to hear - I'm going to get one but the list of bugs which were shared at fujirumors scared me a bit. I never experienced any bugs with my x100t so I was wondering.. thanks!
+Stumpycat Vm: So do you think the X-T2 is ruined because it also has 4K? I think that 4K is a good extra, even if it is not necessary for most right now. (Nearly all 4K cameras can also shoot in 1080p.) Anyway, I agree that most people should definitely pick this up over a Leica.
stumpycat VM, which leica do you have, M10 ? and if you have to use just one for a lifetime, out of the XPro2 & M10, which would it be ? Leica is a True Rangefinder, whereas Fuji is an ERF (electronic range-finder). Fuji is only a RF-style camera, because it lacks the Rangefinder mechanism (2nd window) that the Leica M10 has. Since you are a first-hand user of Leica could you describe how difficult it is initially for an AF Dslr user to adjust or accommodate to an M10 with its centre patch in VF ? At half the price, is Nikon D850 a better value ? i know they are not comparable, being different cameras. Leica is manual-focusing RF having no zooms or tele-primes. Both have got sensors made by the same company "CMOSIS". I also know, the Experiential pleasure that we attain out of a Leica is unmatched. And how do you find the new X-E3 ? Thanks.
Wow! You look excited about that camera. Eventually, I hope to get one Xpro2 too. I know it's not a "professional film stock", but I really love the Fuji Superia 400. Instead the "sepia" simulation wich no one cares, Fuji should include Superia 400.
It's clear that the reviewer has had limited experience with film photography and film cameras. I think what's great about this camera is that it excites photographers who have had that kind of experience and returns some of the control and relation to the camera that is lost with lots of digital systems.
depends. With an a7ii you'll be left with massive lenses, which kinda defeats the purpose of small, inconspicuous mirrorless, but yeah you get a full frame. xpro2, you do have a smaller sensor, but with that comes smaller lenses, and smaller means more agile.
Look, i sold my a7r and went with the x pro2. Not to bash sony, i got great pictures with it, i think the x pro2 is also a great camera, but what got me into it was the quality of the lenses they sell, hard to beat them ( at least at their price range).
10:01 Good to know that the number 1 thing you like about the camera is how it looks. It kinda put in perspective where your priorities are when choosing a camera.
I own an XE1 it's nice but the auto focus sucks. I have three of fuji's zoom lenses. They are incredible! I tried this camera and I really like it. I also shoot Nikon though and the D500 is an incredible camera. It is technically better than this camera but this camera feels better, WTF?
It is better, indeed. X-E1 uses the first X-Trans sensor. The X-T1 and X-E2 uses the second generation and X-Pro2 and X-T2 uses the third gen sensor. Also, a different, quicker processor. Autofocus on X-E1 is bad such as X-Pro1, but X-Pro2 is much better.
Yeah it was pretty crummy out. But it aloud us to test the weather resistance of the camera. Handled rain Iike a champ. Instilled a great amount of confidence with its robust construction.
While you talking I was like, "oh man look at that sick shot with the surfer behind you". Then you turned and snapped it. Nice!
Capturing the bird in great composition was a flex. Nice mate 🤌

Hey Mason, thanks for watching the video! You are right, I did not mean to leave that out. It's nice to have the hybrid view of the two though!
+timstechblog With a feature-packed camera like the X-Pro2, it is almost impossible to touch on every useful feature in a single video! ;)
+timstechblog By the way - you mentioned the diopter, and that's one of my biggest gripes about the X-Pro2. It is poorly positioned and unprotected, so I am constantly throwing it out of focus just by pulling my camera out of the bag. It’s 2021 but this camera is still my dream camera❤️
Nice review. What camera strap is that?
Great video! Did I notice a dab of condensation under the ISO dial window at 4.39s though? That's a worry - I have this kit and live in the UK where it's ALWAYS raining!
Yeah... It scared me too. But dried out within an hour. Camera works fine to this day !!
Why weather resistant then!!
This is how a camera review should be! great job!
At 2:59 you mentioned wedding and portrait photography. I am now considering coming over to Fuji from Nikon. Is the XT-2 or Xpro-2 two the better option for wedding and portrait needs ?
Tim, nice practical review. What's that camera strap you're using?
Don't usually comment on you tube but nice work man. Really refreshing style. Keep it up
Thanks man. That means a lot to me. Have fun out there 🙌🏼
Awesome review. Thanks a lot.
The only reason I haven't got an xpro2 yet is because I really want to see what the xt2 brings to the table.
Thanks Omy. I'm anxious to see what Fuji puts out too. Love the company though - that's for sure!
Chicken with potatoes.

good video mate. what impressed me most was your audio quality!- what mic are you using and what software for video processing??
Thank you! It's a rode smart lav edited in FCPX.
Excellent video. Keep it up. Very useful!! Can you tell me which UV filter you are using?
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. The filter is a tiffen uv filter. Something on there just to protect the glass.
I love the leatherstrap did you buy it somewhere? I'm planning on buying a X-PRO2 soon and still looking for a good strap!
Looks like RSVP from Etsy: www.etsy.com/listing/226023076/custom-leather-camera-strap-handmade?ref=shop_home_active_19
I will be probably picking up an X-T2 when it is out to replace my X-T10. Fuji cameras and glass is awesome! I love how your camera lady "drifts" the frame at some points. haha... Thanks for the upload.
It'll be interesting to see what the XT2 will have packed into it! Fuji rules.
And yeah, lol. She has experimental composition.
Thanks for the review. I just ordered mine yesterday. I am a little upset that I have to pay $130 for the extended grip (both because that's a ridiculous price and I shouldn't have to buy one in the first place), but the camera still won me over.
Yeah that's pretty expensive. But well worth the investment. The battery life is my only gripe. You're going to love the camera though - congrats!!
great review! Is it possible to save the same photo in jpg with the film simulator in one of the cards and the raw file in another card without the effect?
yes! better late than never haha
Hi, great video...
What is that nice strap that you have on the camera?
Looks like RSVP from Etsy, I, myself, have two of those :)

His old pants belt.
How's the Af with the latest update?
was the bird shot out of focus?
probably a little bit. At the time this firmware autofocus wasn't as fast as it is now.
Does it have a mic input port?
Hey Tim - cool review! Is your X-Pro2 buggy?
Thanks Reen! Buggy? Not at all. I've had it lock up once for no reason but it was while I was doing a wireless transfer. No issues while shooting. Is yours buggy?

great review. I'm getting one tomorrow.
Awesome Sean. You're going to love it!
+timstechblog i got it! thanks to you Tim.

great review, I like mine so much, They did it perfect, and NO 4K, so glad they didn't ruin it with that, I got my Leica, without the cost.
Agreed!
+Stumpycat Vm: So do you think the X-T2 is ruined because it also has 4K? I think that 4K is a good extra, even if it is not necessary for most right now. (Nearly all 4K cameras can also shoot in 1080p.) Anyway, I agree that most people should definitely pick this up over a Leica.
no, not at all my concers were the implementation of a feature that would overheat my camera, glad its on the xt2, and is a nice feature

I liked to shoot the superia as well when using fuji...
Thank you for this more emotional real life review.
You're welcome
It's clear that the reviewer has had limited experience with film photography and film cameras. I think what's great about this camera is that it excites photographers who have had that kind of experience and returns some of the control and relation to the camera that is lost with lots of digital systems.
i have not seen one picture with nice colors in this video!
A7ii or xpro2 ...apsc or full frame...decisions :/
fuji has a much more complete and affordable lens lineup. However, vintage glass on the sony a7 series is really nice.
+pat dinco Based on the JPegs quality straight out of camera, I'd say Fuji :-)
I have an A7 II and a Fuji X-T10. I can tell you by personal experience that the Fuji beats the Sony in IQ, speed and ease of usage.
depends. With an a7ii you'll be left with massive lenses, which kinda defeats the purpose of small, inconspicuous mirrorless, but yeah you get a full frame. xpro2, you do have a smaller sensor, but with that comes smaller lenses, and smaller means more agile.

Being able to upload images off of my camera to Drop Box or Google Photos would be HUGE!
Excellent review, many thanks.
Just came across your channel love the way you review subscribed thanks.
Right on, Adam. Thanks for the kudos and support!
you're right on your 3 points
10:01 Good to know that the number 1 thing you like about the camera is how it looks. It kinda put in perspective where your priorities are when choosing a camera.
Good to know that you just took 1 thing he said and left out everything else so it can backup your argument lol smh
That ISO dial reminds me of the dial on the Pentax K-1000 (me very first SLR in 1975), very retro, so this will not annoy me at all...
i'm pretty sure this camera has a white balance adjustment.......
Great review. thx for this
I own an XE1 it's nice but the auto focus sucks. I have three of fuji's zoom lenses. They are incredible! I tried this camera and I really like it. I also shoot Nikon though and the D500 is an incredible camera. It is technically better than this camera but this camera feels better, WTF?

So Glenn used to be a photographer before the zombie apocalypse happened?
Aldrich John lol. You a fool 😂😂
That day isn't really a nice review day! lol
but nice review, thank you!
Yeah it was pretty crummy out. But it aloud us to test the weather resistance of the camera. Handled rain Iike a champ. Instilled a great amount of confidence with its robust construction.
"Fuji makes cameras for photographers!" No shit, Shelock!
Lol. Touché 🙌🏼
+John White Not everyone does unfortunately. *cough* Sony
+John White Whoa! Well, THAT escalated quickly.
camera is not really weather resistant
Are you speaking from negative experience?
San Francisco, that X-Pro2 is going to get stolen by the end of the day.
Great vid
Thanx
Dope!
Hella
Nice jacket :)
Photographers don't have time to tuck in shirts.... AT ALL!
Many dark photos.
What's going on with the camera woman?! Seems kinda lazy and not keeping up with the guy
That's a little rude. My wife is just trying to help out.
