    I have the Mono 4k since Dec and have been super happy with it. It's priced well, produces excellent prints and where it counts, like the Z rail and the LCD screen, it has not stinged on the parts.

    Just getting back into 3d printing and the Mono 4k is going to be my go to... gave up a year and a half ago due to my shed being broken in to and having 2 Mono X stolen, wash and cure and my Photon S (which I left resin in) wrecked, police didn't even take it seriously!

    Just pushed the button on ordering a Mono 4k and saw this review after that decision. Nice!! Goal is to get a great printer for small details (into scale airplane model building) for a decent price. Feel pretty confident that this one will serve me well, even more so after seing your review. Thanks!!

    Many thanks for that review. I got mine with Wash and Cure Plus back in December, but still had not tested it. Waiting for some more equipment to arrive. What is the best resin for casting with the stones (cubic zirconias) in it? Maybe you should do a video of that topic as well. Regards!

    I have this printer for a year now, the only issue I have with it, is build plate. Very small, bigger models did take me 5 printing sessions. I was lucky enough to have ZERO fails that wasn't my fault (I forgot to refill resin once, and second time I didn't notices my mini was floating). The quality is so good that I have problems to find something clearly better. I was thinking about Mono X 6Ks, but the quality jump is not that high.

    I´ve been using the very basic anycubic Photon. I still really enjoy using it and dont see a need to upgrade as long as it works as it should be. I also very like the small product measures of the metal casing and (and thats a big AND) the way I can open it. I dont need a big free place on my table to put the lid aside. I can just lift the front up and it stays there. This is so freaking handy. I absolutly dont want to set the lid always with two hands beside to get access to the print. I would always prefere this printing build and also would always pay more for this.

    Excellent review mate! There has been rather a dearth of reviews of this fine printer... Best kept secret for sure! Not willing to wait for the Elegoo Mars 3 as I so needed a 4k printer and I needed it Yesterday! Well November yesterday! So I pulled the trigger on the AnyCubic Photon Mono 4K and once I figured out the settings (thanks to your recent vid on resin testing!!!) I am just perfectly delighted with the results I am getting. It beats the prints I was getting when I used to order prints off a FormLabs 2!! Seriously! I create fine detail historical/nautical inspired jewelry cast in pewter and the Mono 4K is spot on delivering for my purpose! So I concur Mr. VOG sir. A well presented and well deserved (by AnyCubic) review!

    I have this printer and love it. I will say, the little grooves on the front are a pain to clean if you spill some resin. Also the Fep film on that vat isn't replaceable like normal, you need to buy a replacement from anycubic (or buy a 3rd party vat).

    • @Dooezzz
      @Dooezzz 2 года назад +6

      That's very important. I've managed to pierce FEP first day and was unpleasently surprized that you can't replace it yourself, and it uses preinstalled FEP with plastic frame. The printer is great, but i would recommend buying 3rd party vat.

    I've been using this since the end of December and have been pleased. The only print failures I've had were from poor supports or temps too cold for my heated enclosure (single digits)
    My only regret is the build size and not splurging more for the mono x.

    I bought this and the UV curing/washing station back in december as my first resin 3d printer, I think I got both and two liter bottles of resin for about 500 dollars, which I thought wasn't a bad deal. The quality of the prints are very good, I've been using PLA-like resin for the most part. My Fep is getting close to unuseable (rookie at work) so I have ordered a few spares for the future. Can't say I noticed this scratch protection film you mentioned either, have to look around for that.
    Overall the results have been great, my biggest gripes were that I had to disable the lid sensors because it kept failing to notice when the lid was on. No big deal as it doesn't really impact the products. More annoying is a problem I still have with the washing station. The stirrer had a tendency to stop spinning on high RPMs unless I shimmy the tub up at a small inclination with a pencil or something the same thickness. Normally I'd think it would have been the opposite, but here it appears I have to keep the magnets a little bit further apart to make it work well.
    Overall I'd recommend this for people who'd like to try resin printing for the first time. It's got great details for a good price!

    I couldn't print anything properly lately, for example I set to print a space marine helmet, legs, a bolter, 2 arm parts, and the only things that have printed properly are legs and the bolter, the rest was slightly less 1mm thick blobs that I had to scrape off the fep with a metal spatula cuz the plastic one was useless. I've leveled the build plate, did some testing with the exposure time, cleaned the resin in the vat, all useless. I don't know what to do.

    Mr. VOG can make a video about where to get stuff to print on resin printers? I got both FDM and resin printers but rarely used the resin ones... and also can you talk to anycubic about adding a touch calibration to their firmware? I got two Mono S printers and they use the same front lcd with same interface, I had to replace the front lcds 2 times on each printer bc the touch goes out of calibration. (Very common on resistive touch panels...) As far as I read online many people are having the same problem... people even put videos on youtube and reddit showing this problem. I’m planning to buy this printer soon. I’m completely new to 3d printing and I have a doubt, is the printer itself enough for printing? Or do we need to have the wash and cure ?

    • @vogman
      @vogman  Год назад

      This really is a great starting printer. It prints brilliantly, but the mess isn't for everyone, so it's good to start small. You can start by just dropping your prints into a jar of IPA and swilling this around. Then shake it off and let it dry. BUT you will need a UV curer. I bought a nail varnish curer for a few pennies and placed this over a foil covered box. It's the cheapest way in.
      I'm pretty sure I cover a bit of everything in the video. It might be worth a look. ruclips.net/video/kL9TCjtPbw4/видео.html

    Is it necessary to buy the wash and cure part too? I don’t really know much about resin printing. They seem decent when they come out of the goo, do they need extra cleaning and curing or can you just rinse them with water and set it out on the table for a day or so?

    • @vogman
      @vogman  2 года назад

      Hi Andrew. Yes, most resin prints need washing off is alcohol, though there are some resins that are water based. Prints also need UV curing. This video should help you with a variety of curing and cleaning options... ruclips.net/video/kL9TCjtPbw4/видео.html

    I've just started using a Photon Mono x 4k printer and the results are really surprising, the detail of the figures is really satisfactory and I also use the Craftsman resin so your settings help me a lot :)
    Just wondering, what is your advice with ventilation? I've been really worried about working without a mask (I do have gloves though) and I wonder if I should open the windows only when I take the plastic shell out (the yellow protector).
    Thanks for the review!

    i have a few questions if anyone could help me, i live in a 2 rooms apartment, i have space to place the printer in my room but im worried about the possible toxic fumes it makes, i also sleep in this room, could i place the printer in a closed balcony? im worried the moisture and light there will affect the prints and the printer itself and idk what to do,i could also try to encase the printer into some kind of closed cabinet with fans that take fresh air from outside and get rid of fumes outside as well through some tubes. Im thinking of buying it but i dont know, what would you recommend me to do? thanks a lot

    • @vogman
      @vogman  2 года назад +1

      Yes, that's fine. I regularly sand prints and they get coated in fine dust. A dip in alcohol usually works. A little warm soapy water does the trick too 😁
