- #245. NEVER Worry About DULL MOLDS Or SCRATCHED Resin AGAIN! THIS IS SO EASY!
In todays Resin Art video we focus on the details! It has happened to all of us, we all have resin molds that have lost their shine or are slightly scratched, or we haven't stored our resin art with care resulting in scratched epoxy resin!
With this stuff, we can fix all of those problems in just a matter of minutes..... obviously longer if it is a larger piece or if it has deeper scratches!
I am amazed at how well this polished the resin to a new level! I have since used this on a few of my other pieces and the longer you spend, the better the results! I have found 5 minutes on an oval shaped piece of resin art is perfect!
I think this is probably the easiest way to polish your epoxy resin and anyone can do this, even a beginner!

😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
@daniel..cooper hahaha I love your sense of humor....and of course your experiments 😉
@@cataliciouz Thank you 😁😁😁
Brilliant, think I would use a Magic Sponge, they are amazing. Thanks Daniel enjoyed your experiment and all your funny comments 😂.
@user-wx4oc6nd2v No, don't, Diana just tried a magic sponge and it totally Scratched up her test piece 🙈
As someone who makes resin dice and has to sand and polish them, I find that a car polishing compound used for removing scratches from auto paint, paired with a dremel equipped with a cotton polishing attachment will get you a beautiful glass finish.
Awesome, thank you, do you think you will try this and let us know if it works for you instead of the car polish? 🙏😁🥰
Exactly what I use to @cindi5852 😊
Me too. I may have an old can in garage.
I’m sitting here watching this in my carport, and there is literally a tub of Pink Stuff on the shelf next to my head right now. Imagine my excitement! It worked wonders taking the nastiness my dogs left on the white painted metal doors when they let themselves inside, but I’m taking it inside to rub on all the things. 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Rub just hard enough!
@@DeborahOlander 😂😂😂
Bloody Brilliant! With a soft cloth it took much less than a minute to turn a dull piece into an incredible shine! I could kiss you for this!!!!
Wow! Thanks Susan, I will try with a cloth next, did you use the same version of the product? 😁
@@daniel..cooper exact same version. I was lucky to find the same one. I used a microfiber cloth
Mr. Miyagi says Wax on, wax off Daniel! Thanks for the video.
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 OMG Mike 😂🤣 Your comments make me pmsl sometimes 😂🤣 Love this! 😂🤣
In this case, it should have been, "rub on" … "rub off!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just discovered that Stardrops, the maker of Pink Stuff makes an entire line of household cleaning products. The US link provided includes a pair of rubber gloves that may or may not fit with a 17.6 oz. bottle of the Pink Stuff Cream for $10.99 USD. There is a 16.9 oz bottle without the gloves for $6.27 USD or a 17.3 oz. tub of Pink Stuff Paste for $4.99 USD.
I wonder if a make-up sponge would work as an applicator. A chamois cloth would most likely work very well. The instructions on the Pink Stuff says to apply with light pressure.
There are a lot of wood turners that use epoxy resin in combination with wood, and one of the most popular polishes for these folks is Flitz Metal Polish. This stuff is a long way from cheap, but a little goes a long way. The least amount I have found is a 3.4 oz. tube for $7.64 USD.
All prices quoted here are from Amazon US. Hopefully this will be of use to someone out there.
Yes, it's so cheap! Hoping this helps a lot of people out 😁🥰
For the bezels, you could try a toothbrush. We used to use them on our uniform brass to get into the nooks & crannies. Thanks for the experiment Dr. Dan!
Thanks Amanda 😁 😊 🫂
My dad is ex-Navy; we always had a tin of Kiwi Polish with a chamois and a toothbrush just for that kept with it.
Absolutely incredible 😲 Just wrote that down on my grocery shopping list. It's available at Walmart in the US. Ok...since you are so good at finding these solutions...can you come up with a solution to fix my torn rotator cuff so I don't have to have surgery next week???😅😂 Thank you yet again ❤
Thank you 😊 So sorry 😞 really hope you heal up fast! 🥺
@daniel..cooper yea...going to be on the sidelines for 4 to 6 months. And just when I'm getting the hang of the Petri technique..
@@JulieJennings01 ouch! Mend up fast! 🥰
@daniel..cooper I'm gonna try. Oh...by the way...this is Julie Jennings. Need to change my RUclips address thing, I'll have to have my granddaughter do that for me. I'm rather technologically illiterate LOL
i just sound it also at my Walmart. Got it on my list
I'm buying this stuff for my glass stove top! 😂
😂😂😂
I recently was told tomato sauce polishes copper, and it really works
The tub of paste of pink stuff will work wonders aswell 😍
Have you tested the tub? Some are already asking about that 😁🥰
@daniel..cooper yes on my glass top cooker lol I find it better for a shine than the cream 🥰
🤔 resin might be softer than glass tho I'm thinking. You're now gonna have to go to b&m and buy all the things to try 🫣🫣
It works a dream at removing soap scum and hard water marks on glass shower doors. The Pink Stuff paired with a Scrub Daddy/Mommy (either/or) are almost a dream team.
The ABSOLUTE dream team is the liquid form of Bar Keepers Friend paired with a glass safe sponge attachment for a hand drill. Holy Mackrel. Talk about a GAME changer! I literally let my shower door sit for exactly a year to test all the different products out. Seems the finer grit of the bar keepers friend paired with a hand drill offers a finer grit for the drill to do all of the work for you. Finish it off with rubbing alcohol and it looks brand spanking new!
@@Kreepykrafts not got a glass top cooker but a normal gas one, the paste brings it up lovely. Oven and grill doors are sparkling too :)
If you have a Dremal, you could use a polishing bit with that. Probably work a lot faster. As soon as I posted this comment, you mentioned using your rotary tool. 😂
😁😁😂😂
Wow! Officially added to the shopping list. Thank you Mr. Daniel 😁🥰😁
This is awesome information! Thank you, once again! (For jewelry/silver/gold *please,* just use a polishing cloth specific to the purpose! They’re cheap, effective, reusable and much safer for the metals, especially long term!) 😊
Thank you 😊
Wonderful! My dad bought this Pink Stuff,, original in a bucket, from the State Fair of Texas back in the 1980's !! We used it all up and I hunted for it and found it again last year. I LOVE Pink Stuff!! But it is quite pricey in the US. Great polisher! Glad you found it and did a video
Thank you 😊 Yes but much cheaper than a branded epoxy resin polish 🥰
I found the tub on Amazon.. 17+ ounces for $4.99
I have learned so much from you. Thanks for all your great videos. My projects are so much better because of you! Ty
That’s mental! Shame about the moulds though
Yes, will crack that another time 😉
Thanks for being our lab and, research man 😊
Very welcome 😊 🙏
There is another product similar to this called Bar Keeper's Friend…. It’s also a very mild abrasive… I have that to use on my counter tops and my induction stove top… it cleans beautifully… I will test it out and see if it works…. 😊
Thanks, did it work? 😁
I'd have thought the oxalic acid might possibly eat into the resin, idk...
@@daniel..cooper haven’t tried it yet…. My daughter has company over this weekend and we took the girls camping…. They are scout’s and love to camp…. So, I’m not exactly home right now lol… I will try it out when I get back home! I will try the soft scrub as well…. And if you are lucky, I might even film it lol….😉😚
@@221b-Maker-Street well, in its purest form, yes… if you use that stuff to clean wood or or organic compounds, it will eat right through it…. It will also burn the heck out of your skin…. But, there isn’t enough of it in the soft scrub or Bar Keeper's Friend to really do too much harm you… still, wear gloves because if you let it sit on your skin for too long, it could begin to eat away at your skin… OUCH'!!!

Suggest wiping the Pink Stuff off with water on cloth to get rid of the white cast it leaves 👍
😁😁
I've always and highly recommend and have done many times to use. T-CUT for car paint work. it's not expensive and very little on a damp microfibre cloth last for many pieces. again it's a manual thing. but I've recommended it for river tables and I've nothing but positive feedback. yes lots of elbow grease (I use margarine 😂🤣😂🤣💪😂🤣😂🤣😉) but results are shiny as can be like a new mold should be (hate these scammers making bad molds by flood coating a new mold the use silicone to make a clone that hasn't got the perfect shine) but T-CUT is for me the best. plus when you've used the same microfibre cloth a few times you only need to wet it slightly. I keep mine in a resealable bag.... 😉💪👌👍 great idea though definitely works. also can be used with a sanding disc wool pad you just need to wet it with water with a few drops of washing up liquid as wool naturally is waterproof due to lanolin 😉. just a drop or two is enough and microfibre cloths are best as can be kept for purpose and the next piece 😊😊
Yep, such cheaper ways Mark 😁😁
Is that the same as glass wax that was around in the US about 50 years ago? It was a pink liquid that dried to white that we used to apply stencil designs on the windows at Christmas.
I'm not sure Nancy, sorry
Definitely works better if you're using microfiber or a cotton polishing cloth. I keep all my old ratty denim for hand polishing all kinds of plastics and some softer minerals.
Of course a dremel with a polishing attachment will work even faster! But if you can't afford a dremel, hand polishing using something like this or a car polishing compound, will absolutely work. There's lots of polishing compounds out in the world designed for a variety of surfaces. If you're into resin, polymer clay, wire work jewelry or gemstones, it's well worth exploring the options out there.
Some polishes also leave behind a protective coat to prevent tarnishing.
I love the pink stuff i use it for lots of things ive got a cupboard full. But never ever dod i think that i could use it for resin. But well done Daniel i love your channel. Keep up the fab work. 👍
Thanks Kim 😊
I often polish with tooth powder and water on a piece of yoga mat))
In Australia we have the pink stuff and bar keepers friend but I prefer Gumption, you get a big tub of it and it’s pretty cheap, it’s very similar stuff. I’ll try it when I think of it cos it works on everything else, it cleans stainless steel pretty good too, it’s the same thing as White Lily which you can’t get any more. I used to use that too.
😂😂😂 stop it 😂😂😂 what a brilliant idea 🤩 especially for people like me who hate 😣 sanding 👏👏👏👏❤❤❤

その中にシルバーを入れるとキレイになるので今度試してみてください👍✨
Awesome! Thank you for the tip 😁😁
Ordered some immediately. ❤
Also, for a scratched mold, I have seen other artists add a thin amount of silicone to coat the bottom and make it shiny again. This probably only works with flat molds, I would imagine.
Cool, yes, have seen that too 😁
For tarnish lemon juice is amazing. Even the packaged lemon juice works.
Awesome to know, thank you 😊
Reminds me of Jubilee kitchen wax. Loved that stuff. Here in Mexico they're both expensive but the Pink stuff is a lot less expensive. I didn't realize that was what it was, thanks! Talking about how your brain works, makes me laugh because I do that all the time. Makes it hard to have conversations sometimes because my brain has made several connections I'm just a pause for thought so when I continue they're clueless as to what I'm talking about.
If you double up a piece of electrical tape on the back you can pinch it between your fingers and it will allow you to do the whole thing without grabbing the sides.
Genius! Thanks Cris 😁🙏
@@daniel..cooper absolutely...thanks for sharing.
@@CrisAnderson27 very welcome 🙏 Thanks again for the help on FB 😁
Would be interesting to polish the eyes and leave the rest matt.
Definitely 😁
You can use white toothpaste, a little bit of water and an old soft toothbrush to polish your tarnished silver and other jewelry pieces. Don’t use toothpaste that has any whitening particles - use only the plain white.
That's fascinating 😮 I mean I would've honestly thought the cream would leave more scratches....but no. Polished those resin pieces right up! Amazing. Now I have a silver ring that was missing for a year and recently found in the washing machine filter, that needs cleaning! It's completely black. Have to see how clean this pink stuff can get it! 🤞 Thank you!
It's crazy isn't it! I did my silver wedding ring and it came up like the day I first tried it on 😁😁😁
Toothpaste works great on gold and silver.
@@daniel..cooper it might sound funny to some people but you should try using ordinary tooth paste it works great, it's my go to if I need to remove small scratches and give something a fresh lease of life, works on any hard surfaces,
You crack me up 🤣🤣 cheeky cheeky 😜 x
😂😂😂
Daniel, I don't keep resin pieces on my drawers, thank you. 😊
😂😂😂 u make me laugh rubbing always does the magic 😂😂😂. They came up really well. 😊 x thank u daniel

I have a tub of the Pink stuff under my sink in USA.
Cool, I haven't tried that yet but may be the same 😁
It was called jiff then ciff now the pink stuff I’ve plenty of this under my sink 😂❤ wow game changer n half , x
Excellent tip!
I only had a dab left of my little pot of The Pink Stuff, but with a micro fiber cloth, it cleaned a spot on a cabochon I scratched on purpose for this expreimet.....you ARE an amazing mad scientist wen it comes to resin. Last night I was starting to make Christmas ornaments and one of my molds was scratched up due to bad storage and I not only had scratched mold, but a scratched ornament. I was out of my Pink Stuff but I always have a bottle of Barkeepers Friend and it worked every bit as wel.
I don't know ow if they sell that in UK, but in the stated it's as common as "Comet"....which doesn't work because the abrasive is too rough! Thank you Daniel for turning me into a mad scientist- apprentice version. Your tutalege has changed the way I ollk at resin crafting!!
🎉😊🎉😊🎉😊🎉😊
A Dremel is my best friend, add it not only saves time, but not to mention many minutes on my arms😊
Dan you are a resin hero! All the time I've been out recovering from my rotator cuff surgeries I have been thinking about a reasonable polishing compound for my resin. I must have been thinking really hard since you apparently heard me. Want to know the best part about your idea? I have a container of the dollar store version of the cleaner in my BATHROOM! 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I shall be testing this out over the weekend. Thank you again for your awesome ideas. 😅😊
Pffft! I'm going to mess with it now so I can sleep. 😅
Please let us know if it works Vicky 😁😁
@@daniel..cooper will do
@@VickyCooksalot thank you 😊
I use pink on EVERYTHING!
It takes ink off my hands when nothing else does
Sponge works great
I think I will be from now on too 😂🤣
Great experiments. I've always used Jif (Cif) for general cleaning and it's great, but I see Pink Stuff is available in NZ now. Will be madly cleaning jewellery and resin after this vid. Have you ever tried spraying silicone spray on scratched moulds? I wonder if that will put the shine back.
Thanks, yes, have tried that in the past but it doesn't make much of a difference 🥺
@@daniel..cooper 😕 Oh, that's a shame.

Yes! It’s so frustrating how fast the jewelry tarnishes! I wish I could find higher end jewelry pieces
Yep, even 925 silver tarnishes fast if not worn 😔
That's incredible!! 😮😮😮
This is unbelievable! I’ve spent some much time and money trying to find a polish and who knew I had it sitting in my kitchen the whole time

I love The Pink Stuff and use it around the house. What a great idea to use it on the scratches! I have the paste version and wonder if that would work just as well.
Please let us know if it does 😊😊
Thanks for sharing that but I did love the face in the matt finish. It was gorgeous 😊
Thanks Hillary 😊 Yes, was just to test 😁
That's absolutely incredible, and I've tons of this stuff under my sink, lol.. where on earth do you think of these ideas. Amazing. Thanks, Daniel, and I hope you are well? ❤
I literally opened my cupboard and thought "Hmmmmm"? 😂🤣
@daniel..cooper well its very clever. I love it. Please share your brain cells with me, lol 😆
We do have CIF here in France! It's been called CIF here for 40+ years. But I think they all have some bleach in them. Does Pink Stuff?
No bleach in pink stuff 😁
Think it would work great with a Dremel polisher especially for the likes of the face with all the nook bits. I wouldn't do jewellery 🫤 Something else you could play with is brasso for metals, if the hard wear is a bit dark for the project brasso lightens it without the fear of scratches, talking of scratches do you remember Vim 🤣
Yes, could work really well with a rotary tool on slow speed 😁. What's Vim? 😂
@@daniel..cooper Vim was a bleach powder that scratched and dulled enamel sinks and baths to bits, my Mum instilled it into us 3 girls NEVER to use it on her beautiful bathroom suit, we teased Mum terrible, I've yet to see someone move that quick 🤣
I do like watching how your wacky brain works. Thought you were going to use it with resin at one point! Keep going Daniel, fun even for us non resin bods ❤
Thanks Sue 😊
Adrimel tool with a polishing wheel and your pink stuff
😁😁 will try soon
I have a bottle if Jif in my cleaning cupboard, I'm going to try that asap! 😃
I think it's pretty ancient as I believe it's called Cif here too now. When I used it to clean steel worktops at a resturant 30+ years ago it was called Whim or something like that...
Jif/Cif definitely works on resin. x
Cool, let us know if it works for you please 🙏
It's still called Jif here in Australia 😊
I’m going to have to check in the USA! Too bad it didn’t work on the mold. That would have been great!
It's 100% available in US 😁
Yes! I see you put a link! 😀 Thanks!
Good ol cream cleanser..who knew?
I use white toothpaste or bicarb soda and vinegar but I'll try cream cleanser too..❤
😁😁😁
I think you could use this cream with one of these rocks tumblers (a cheap model) and some ceramic filler media.
Possibly but I think it would roughened them up more.
I'll need to buy this or Cif as soon as I see it somewhere. My molds are shiny still, bit having this around would be handy. I have a tube of a sickeningly expensive resin and plastic polishing compound, but it was so pricey I rarely use it.
A fair warning about using this on metal, though:
It's not usually adviced to use rubbing compounds on metal, at least not regularly, because they will eventually wear off the shine. I would not use it on silver or gold plated metal, because the plating is super thin, and will wear off eventually. You can get away with using something like this a few times, but not on the regular. Also, if you have stones set on your jewellery, some semiprecious stones are really soft and will lose their polish (and may react badly with the cleaning agents).
This is very good info! Yes, definitely not on plated jewelry! 😆😆
Wow, definitely a game changer for me! Thank you for another fabulous experiment ❤x
Thanks Julie 😁 😊 🫂
I was watching a movie on NF and doom scrolling fb when I saw your post about this. Immediately closed everything and came to watch and it was worth it!

Yes, totally worth a test 😁
What's is called? So I can find it... Id never even heard of pink stuff till this video

Funny thing . I thought to myself that i will never find that Pink stuff here in Australia. I went into a cheap/discount/dollar store after watching this video this morning and there it was on the shelf. I promptly put some in my trolley 😂

What a great bit of information. I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks.

T-cut would work well
I have a tub of it under my kitchen sink. I love the stuff as I’ve used it for so many things. Like I accidentally got some resin ink on the wall of my home and I used a tiny bit on a paper towel and scrubbed gently, and all the ink was gone! I paid $5 for the tub and I’ve had it forEVER and have barely made a dent in it. They also make other cleaning products and I love it cause it’s cheap and lasts for awhile plus it’s cheap in the US. I usually pick it up at Walmart!! I’ll definitely use this on my resin. But it does say on the container to do a spot test before doing a wider use on anything.
It's great stuff isn't it! 😍🤩
thanks for the info. If you use a micro cloth folded up to make padding it works well. for jewelry a polishing cloth that is 2 pieces one side has cleaner and the other polishes work really well on silver or part silver. and gold too. just don't wash it. they last forever.
Thanks Rhonda 😁 😊 🫂
Have you ever tried tooth paste? I use white toothpaste on my silver sometimes to clean and brighten. Love your videos! Truly an inspiration!
Might be worth investing in a polishing machine for jewellery on amazon? They come in handy for some of my pieces I've done, great tip by the way thanks! Keep the video's coming.
Yes, I may get a mini wheel polisher, I think a rotary would be too fast and harder to use 🥰
