  • Straight from one of the game's most memorable scenes, I give you A Life Sent On from Xenoblade Chronicles 3, arranged in the Zelda64 soundfont. Composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, this gorgeous piece fit the Zelda64 soundfont better than I'd anticipated. That being said, I could never hope to capture it's full beauty on such a limited sound engine. (I like to think I did it some justice though!)
One thing important thing to note is that this recording is split into a variant for ocarina and a variant for piccolo. I did this because only the piccolo variant is compatible with OoT at this time due to current technical limitations. Both variants will be made available for MM.
Compatible with Majora's Mask randomizer via this .mmrs file: coming soon!
    Download the audio: coming soon!
    OoT compatible file: coming soon!

First, let me thank you all for 10k+ views on the last Xenoblade recording and 300 subs to the channel!! It really means a lot and helps to motivate me when working on difficult songs like these! I've been working on this one on and off for the past 2 months, trying to capture all the intricacies and beauty of the piece, while also not overloading the N64 sound engine. During this time, I've had some new projects come up that I'm doing original music for. I won't be divulging further details about these projects at this time, but keep your eyes open for more announcements.
All that being said, expect my activity in uploading new arrangements to be slow (again) for a while. Due to some life events (chaos) coming up, including a long awaited trip overseas, I need to be focusing my energy elsewhere for the time being. That's not to say I'm ceasing all work on music at this time. Quite the contrary! I will be limiting the scope of what I'm working on, however. In the meantime, you guys know what to do to be notified of when I upload and whatnot so... please do that. (I'm not saying the RUclipsr phrase, you can't make me!!!)
Thanks again for all your support!

I’m surprised this works so well especially for the flutes, you even added the right inflections and the right vibrato! Strings gave me goosebumps. Keep it up!

Imagining a duet with Noah and Young Link.

Loved the part where Zelda and Link played the ocarina together and sent on the souls of the castle town citizens. Such raw emotion

If it wasn't flutes that off-seers used, it would definitely be Ocarinas. Amazing cover too!

That ending was beautiful, seeing Link and Skull kid join together in sending off Moebius' Mask for the Happy Mask Salesman as the four giants all returned to their respective lands.

When you think about it, it's the Xenoblade version to the Song of Healing.
    Anyway, it's a beautiful rendition.

Dammit! I missed this upload by one month! Anyway, I have to say that this rearrangement, once again, sounds amazing and surprisingly faithful to the original. The second version also definitely sounds better imo. The analog for the flutes sounds more fluid and less janky (might be a bad way to put it).
Also, on another note, the version of the song you used as reference (the one from the scene from the end of chapter 1), is actually technically an incomplete one. You might already be aware of this, but I'll elaborate anyway.
While this song does play a few different times throughout the games' story, in this first instance only, Noah starts playing his part later than Mio does, and after he starts accompanying Mio's playing at the start of the song, she gets caught off guard and stops playing for a few seconds. This means that this version of the song is missing the beginning of Noah's melody, and also a few notes from a part of Mio's melody. The best 'complete' example of this song I can think of, would actually happen to be from chapter 4, after the fight against Moebius P&O.
I felt like pointing this out, since I noticed that a lot of covers and uploads of this song on RUclips happen to be based on the first version that plays in-game.

Glad you enjoyed it! I'm personally more partial to the first (ocarina) variant of the transcription for the more mellow and warm overall tone of the instrument. I did, however, anticipate there'd be a group of people that vastly prefer the brighter and perhaps more faithful variant provided by the flute/piccolo. I'm glad to hear I predicted correctly and you enjoyed this variant!
As for the reference, I was aware that the version I used lacked certain parts Mio and Noah's melody. I considered using the "more complete" version in this arrangement, but ultimately decided against it. I prefer this version for the evolution of the melody that highlights the fact that this is a duet between two flautists using two different-yet-similar techniques. (Mio's part being more ornamental and active, Noah's being warmer and more lyrical, at least the way I hear it). Whether or not other covers opted to do this for the same reasons is hard to say, but I think it's likely.

Hello Zeraphyr these songs have been awesome, I'm curious though would Mechonis Field work well with the Zelda64 soundfont?

Thank you very much! I'm glad you've been enjoying them!
Mechonis Field is one that I've played with a few times now and again. I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it would be a rather daunting task. It's very atmospheric, which always requires decent amount of the already-limited resources of the N64 sound engine. In addition, the main body of the song has a dense instrumentation of primarily synths. Zelda64 has access to some instruments that could potential mimic the aforementioned synths with ease. Other synths, however, might require heavy manipulation of the instrument samples Zelda64 has access to. All of this would need to be done without overloading the N64 sound engine, mind you.
TL;DR Mechonis Field could work well with the Zelda64 soundfont with enough time and effort. It's a song I've had under consideration for a while and maybe someday I'll be able to tackle it. We'll just have to see! 😉
