Shadow: *having just relieved all of his trauma, probably just said goodbye to Maria, and murdered Black Doom* You got this Sonic. Sonic: Aren’t you gonna tag in, Shadow? Shadow: I’ve had a long FUCKING day Sonic, YOU do it.
They’re actually pretty chill with one another in the comics! Sonic clearly cares and shows a lot of concern for Shadow on multiple occasions, as does Shadow but in his own way.

@kwagz3314 Of course Iizuka isn't a fan of that dynamic, Iizuka was literally the one who wrote the plot and story and dialog and character traits for Shadow 2005 and made him an angry anti-friendship edge lord, But as for me, I AM A FAN OF THE DYNAMIC I MENTIONED.
@@TheRandomMan-l9wIizuka (probably): They're _allies,_ not friends. Shadow will fight for his allies and Team Dark, but that's as far as it goes. Rouge is usually the one who gets Shadow to associate with others, but otherwise Shadow does his own thing most of the time.
@@TheRandomMan-l9w Izuka did none of that. The English version of it did. Shadow 05 in Japan is not the edgy corny story it is in the west. Shadow and sonic we’re never homies in the 2000’s either they just respected each other.
@@Mr.06_ they actually were homies, but not as much as close homies, they are at least normal friends and respect each other, no one hates the other and no one finds the other annoying, but that was only the case for all of the 2000s games, except for shadow 2005 obviously.
To be honest I really like the idea that Shadow didn't fight the Time Eater with Sonic not because he wasn't physically strong enough to do so, but because he wasn't emotionally strong enough to do so. That he knew he might not be able to trust himself to do what needed to be done if it meant Maria and Geralds fates would basically be sealed. That just adds such a unique depth to Shadow during Generations.
Okay, that's actually brilliant, and I'd be so on board for that being the case. Time Eater pulling Maria and Gerald out of time... so with Time Eater's destruction, they get sent back.... it makes sense.
I like it a lot too! I hope they go with it - I've always liked how even though Sonic is the more expressive character, it's really evident that Shadow is more emotionally driven one (despite Sega's best attempts to make you think Shadow is the unbothered character, lol). I think if the situation was flipped, Sonic would ultimately find it in himself to do the right thing and sacrifice his friends for the greater good - whereas Shadow's judgement would be swayed and he'd probably get paralyzed, making no real choice at all. It' a nice contrast.
Huh, that’s an extremely possible thought there, and it actually makes sense. In addition, Shadow probably knows that once the timeline goes back to normal, he’ll have to live without them again. Smart thinking there! 🤓😎👍🏻🤩
Shadow won't admit it but he admires sonic. Sonic inspires all around him, even Shadow. His influence helped shadow see what maria really wanted in SA2, and Shadow thinks highly of sonic even though he doesn't normally show it, and sees sonic as an impulsive fool.
@@castform7I mean, they did (Air Fleet even reveals if you go for trying to kill him that you were chasing a decoy the whole time and Tower and the rest of G.U.N managed to get him to safety), but like Sebastian said, the idea of the President managing to take a direct shot from the _Eclipse Cannon_ and live is just so damn cool.

5:41 The thing is, it _can’t_ be Sonic that Black Doom is talking to, nor is he talking about him. For one thing, Black Doom has absolutely no reason to go after Sonic, let alone talk to him. He’s got nothing against the blue hedgehog. The only person that I _can_ see converse with Black Doom is Professor Gerald, and possibly Maria, too, if she’s with her grandfather. It’s most likely an argument between the professor and Black Doom, with Gerald saying that Shadow is someone who will bring about the betterment of the world, with Maria backing him up, while Black Doom refutes that statement, with the “He is a warrior! A destroyer!” line, with Shadow coming in saying that he is the warrior who will destroy him.
@@Charriii5 Only that wouldn't explain Time Eater being shown to have the same voice and laugh as the one who said those lines. Also that'd insinuate that Black Doom took over Time Eater, but how? If not Mephiles it's a different form of Black Doom maybe?
@@Michael-bb5dd It doesn’t really matter if Black Doom is talking about Sonic, or if he is talking to him, he’s not who Black Doom is interested in at all. Like I said, BD’s got absolutely no reason to go after Sonic at all, because *Shadow* is his main target due to the link that Shadow has with him due to his Black Arms DNA, therefore, *he* possesses the more immediate threat.
Just imagine the people being confused why he showed this and where is this even from. The face they will pull out after they hear it's from the Knuckles series.
13:40 honestly, that doesn't seem all that surprising to me if it becomes a plot point , really, it makes sense that shadow is faced with that ultimatum, but I'm hoping that in that moment, shadow gets a "proper goodbye" to maria and gerald. Sure, that sounds cheesy, but, in my opinion it would be a very nice opportunity for shadow to grow, similar to his 0'6 self, a shadow who isn't weighed down by the nightmares that incident brought him, a shadow that will fight like he always has, *even if the world chooses to become his enemy* Edit: yeah, not QUITE what i first thought but It'll do
It's really funny how Sonic Generations has the story depth of a travel pamphlet while Shadow Generations will have a significantly deeper story of Shadow facing his entire past
I just pray we get a remake of the Silver roundhouse kick from 06. That was by far the best part of that game and one that definitely deserves to be shown again.
They should do a callback to Dynamite Cop, another Sega game, and have it replay like 4 times in a row getting more ridiculous with each cut (replaying, seeing it twice next to each other, seeing it happen 4 times as four different scenes, and then one more replay).
OHHHHH YOU COOKED. I wasn't very sold on the Mephiles thing when you first talked about it but I think you're onto something. Even more hyped for this game somehow
I also came up that theory that Time Eater is a remnant of Solaris, without knowing about Ian Flynn coming up with it as well separately. It just shows how much this theory makes sense.
Funny, I also had a theory that helped tie the Time Eater with Solaris. I theorized that the Time Eater was a primordial remnant of Mephiles, as in a primal time-altering being that was given birth from the remains of his power in the aftermath of the Solaris battle. And yeah, with Ian Flynn also tying in the similarities, it wouldn’t be too out of the park.
@@leonmystique9372 yes, love him or hate him, he’s probably the best we’ve gotten since 2010’s (although I liked colors story and tbh didn’t bother me it was way less bland than the original Sonic generations though, and colors was on the Wii so it made some sense to be light-hearted and goofy)
Ian Flynn also had the idea that the Time Eater could be a part of Mephiles and it’s common chatter that there’s a chance he’ll canonise the idea in SXSG
He acknowledged a theory, and honestly knowing him he’d probably make it true to an extent, we already know that the game takes place during Sonic’s story and that shadows will crossover, so yeah this video makes sense
In Sonic Frontiers, when asked by Sonic, Sage states that Eggman brought a Death Egg Robot to the island for defense but ended up using a more typical vehicle to navigate around the island. Regardless of it being destroyed, Eggman brought it, not a portal -_-
@@Semudara you on to something here. Generations timelines have to be put back to normal. Shadow could definitely destroy the Death Egg robot before the guardians get to it in frontiers. After beating chaos island the time line goes back to normal there and the guardians get to it or something.
@@Semudara while that would be cool as hell, sage says outright that the heat and smoke from the volcano heavily damaged the robot, to the point it was not operational
Even if they change the fact that nobody gets involved and just encourages Sonic, I hope they'll leave the first part of the cutscene, before the others arrive, as it is. Because I found that first part to be really funny, genuinly. The banter between Sonic and the two Eggmans was actually funny, despite being written by Pontac and Graff. And it was fun and interesting seeing Eggman being his usual narcissistic self to a point where he can't even stand himself. Probably the best characterization detail of the entire game. Because all the others are just bad.
oh yeah the banter between Eggman & Robotnik was one of their best writing; i doubt they will touch Sonic Generations that much, but i hope we get more banter between those two
@@Artista_Frustrado "Am I really gonna get that crazy ?" is especially interesting, as it may imply that Robotnik isn't as far gone as Eggman, and that the moment when he reached that point is represented by the moment when he left the name Robotnik and his old self behind to become Eggman.
In regards to that less-known Adventure 2 Line, that was adressed in a recent Interview (forgot which one exactly, but it's on the official Sonic RUclips Channel). The Intent was that Shadow acknowledged Sonic as being better than him and passed the proverbial Baton of "the Ultimate Lifeform" as a Title, but that was under the assumption of Shadow NOT sticking around the Franchise afterwards as per the original out-of-universe Plans. Since Shadow IS obviously still an active Character though, the official stance is that we're supposed to ignore that Line altogether. Or, as it was jokingly summed up during that same Interview "Nevermind, I'M still the real Ultimate Lifeform after all"
My theory is that the amnesia in heroes made him forget he said that. While he does remember the events of Adventure 2 after Shadows game, I think he forgot that he said that to Sonic or in canon the line was never said.
So their original theme of Sonic being the true Ultimate Life Form all along wa dropped for the sake of Shadow staying relevant. Cause I always loved how that made poetic sense for Sonic, the very being in which Shadow was artificially created to emulate, could never truly be emulated and thus, his purpose to live up to his power could never be fully achieved. This is why he fell at the end of the fight and not Sonic, cause his Super form couldn't be maintained. It has a lot of finality to it since Shadow was never supposed to survive past this game, and I would have liked for that to at least stick. Thinking about it in retrospect, Shadow's appearances since Adventure 2 have been really cool at times, but it's never lived up to his debut game. Adventure 2 Shadow is still the best version of Shadow to this very day.
It's really amusing to me how Shadow passed the title to Sonic because he thought he was about to die, but then woke up and thought "Nah I'm still him"
i feel like mephiles will at least be a secondary antagonist for shadow generations. the whole thing of sonic 06 was time travel, and now that the effects of his and iblis’ death (crisis city in base generations fire tornadoes in both acts are largely assumed to be iblis i believe.) so, it wouldn’t make sense for him to *not* want a run back after being erased from history.
Yeah, I'd imagine so. Of course, we may end up disappointed if we go in expecting that. But I've always figured... if the events of Sonic '06 are lingering in the timestream (as Generations proves they are), then Mephiles, the consciousness of Solaris, must be lingering as well. And Mephiles would refuse to just quietly disappear if given the opportunity for terrible vengeance. I know it's a stretch, but I always wondered if the Phantom Ruby was somehow tied to him.
Aonix is the true ultimate life form, my totally real OC, and totally not something created out of my accidentally hitting the A and X keys when trying to type in the words sonic
This is a bit I was playing Dying Light 1 school segment with my friend, and we made a joke about someone making fun of my sonic oc. Somehow, on the spot, i just improvised. "His name is Platinum, the hedgehog. He's a quarter angel, demon, and dragon. Also, he's a werewolf and has regeneration abilities, so you wouldn't be able to stop him cause he's too strong. AND he has access to the negative emeralds... a dark mirror version of the chaos emeralds that give Platinum energy manipulation and a lightish red super form."
"If Shadow is the Ultimate Lifeform and Sonic beats him, what does that make Sonic?" Sonic is what happens when you make Goku and never reveal he's a Saiyan, you just say he can Do All That Shit with no explanation
Shadow saving Maria on radical highway is a can of ironic and thematic worms. Shadow saving his dear friend on the 1st level where he vowed his revenge towards said friend’s wishes(as well as humanity). extreme stark contrast to modern Sonic saving Tails in GHZ
What you mentioned at the final part about why and how the title makes more sense, makes even more sense because from a complete "Japanese to English" translation the title of this game is actually: Sonic Cross Shadow Generations, due to the fact that commonly in Japanese titles X is pronounced as "cross" or "crossover" and is commonly used to denote a meeting of characters, worlds, or storylines.
@6:19 just want to remind everyone the comic tie in on the frontiers website and in game dialogue point out that eggman was exploring the starfall islands for like a week or so before sonic and co arrive so the death egg robots already have a lore reason for having been there. Its also why there are abandoned base structures on almost every island
Eggman exploring some location between a day to a week and then causing shit is practically how every Sonic game would start out with him as the main villain. The Adventure duology, Sonic 3, Colors, Eggman's almost always starting shit and Sonic has to go clean up his messes.
not sure why but for the first time i've gotten chills watching someone speculate lore and read between the lines across the continuity of sonic. maybe it's the way you put this whole thing together, but you hit the nail on the head on just about every point you brought up. excellent work here charriii
I also like to think that Shadow lets Sonic handle Time Eater because he doesn't trust himself to finish the job Once the Time Eater gone, so will be Maria and Gerald...He might fear that he'll hesitate and ruin everything
At this point Shadow standing back is gonna make sense to me now, since he literally just relived his past trauma, seeing Maria die again, and fighting Black Doom and Mephiles. Shadow is just letting Sonic fight the big final boss.
that, and as someone else pointed out, killing the boss sends Maria and Gerald back to their points in time, something shadow was probably not feeling up too at that moment in time.
Ironically I've heard that SA2 line cuz I tend to mess around in the final battles, I used to get curious. (yes even the one in Shadow 2005 that plays like 8 minutes into the final, final battle stating that Shadow is the real Shadow) I enjoy these lore speculation vids you do bro. Lets keep em coming.
This is a GREAT theory man, I was thinking the same thing a while ago. What if this Shadow game is him fully putting his past behind him, fighting Black Doom, and going through his campaign just so that Sonic is able to beat Time Eater as he was always meant to?
1:01 Actually, my personal theory was that shadow got hints that he was a robot (he seems to have kind of noticed it in heroes) so he most likely COULDNT go super in that game, notice how in shadow the hedgehog 2005 he DOES go super? people just quickly go to hate on a sonic game.
These voice clips sound near identical to me. I don't know what to tell you. He might have an extra filter in "egg" form compared to regular. I'd put smart money the entire Time Eater fight is going to be changed, so the line will be irrelevant. But I'm holding hope for a FINAL boss with both hedgehogs!
Charriii is one of the best RUclipsrs and we're just afraid to admit it. I might sound like a bot when I say this but GOSHDAMN YOU ARE AMAZING! People don't tell you this enough. Personally, I don't think they're going to change the ending scene. I think Shadow's story will explain how he got there in the cutscene. Given that he was with Rouge in this one, he could come across her at some point in the game or Sonic freed her
12:25 on a side note about sage, eggman wondered if Maria was anything like her in the egg memos during the events of frontiers, I wonder, if she does get appear and rescued, that shadow will realize their similarities. Also, I believe rouge will be the one we rescue in Kingdom valley. Her relationship with shadow is at its strongest in that 06, she outright admits she’d stand by shadow when team dark comes together. And I know THIS one sounds crazy, but I believe whisper the wolf from the IDW comics will be the one we rescue from sunset heights. Her backstory happens because of shadow androids and her and shadow just recently appeared in an arc together. Considering tangle got mentioned in frontiers and the restoration was referenced in tailstube, I think they’ll be trying to bring in more IDW characters, so whisper appearing I believe isn’t entirely out of the question
Rouge's relationship was pretty strong with Shadow in Battle and Heroes too. She literally carries Shadow in Battle (unlike S06). That Tangle theory is crazy.
I’ve always loved the line calling Sonic the Ultimate Life Form because it just adds so much to his dynamic with Shadow. Sonic is naturally a hero and superior being but he doesn’t want to be instead opting to be free while Shadow is very convicted and duty driven (ex keeping Maria’s promise). Even if the “he is a warrior” interaction is a one off thing, I hope it still is shadow gassing up sonic because he’s always had respect and faith in him. The most recent example of this is prime where Sonic is a fool, naive, and too fast for his own good which Shadow tells him often. That still doesn’t change the fact that when it comes down to it Shadow trusts Sonic to fight to fix things as well as saving him. I love these two as rivals oml
The interactions between Mephiles and Shadow are gonna be really interesting considering that, from the perspective of the characters, the events of 06 never happened.
I think the consensus is that they remember stuff, it’s just all scrambled, but stuff like blaze appearing in sonic rush is because iblis never existed or maybe it’s also because she was reborn in the sol dimensions. Considering Ian was a fan of the series it wouldn’t be hard to believe if he did this
@@felipe_drawmania1604 well according to 06 that’s not the case, and even this game puts her in crisis city where she was from in that game, yes the games cannon just the events got reversed and never happened, it also scrambled a lot of people’s memories, and blaze never existed because of the events being reversed, she wasn’t always from the sol dimension, she is now hence why I said she was reborn into the sol dimension with scrambled memories
@@faz10do i don't think anyone other than sonic would remember anything if he remembers anything at all about the events of 06, since sonic was the only one with Elise when the candle was blown out.
I think all the lines said were Black Doom, wanna know why 3:50 Black Doom in Shadow '05 always talks about the promised time I believe Black Doom is also putting Shadow against all his previous foes and even some of Sonic's foes to put his power to the test If you watch Shadow 101 on the Official Sonic The Hedgehog RUclips channel, Eggman states "Black Doom wanted a champion." So when the line "You are a warrior, a destroyer." Since Warriors and champions are aftern used by Tyrannical Monarchy, it leads me to believe that it's also Black Doom talking here
@@crimsonzone8984Yes and no. In Shadow 05 they translated it as “the day of reckoning but Shadow still refers to it as the promised time at the start of the westopolis level.

alr so as i’ve seen the leaked gameplay for this scene and they rewrite this line in the time eater and instead of saying u got this sonic he says on ur feet and the warrior line that u mentioned is just shadow talking abt himself to black doom
My main issue with this whole thing would be that that means Mephiles' voice just sopunds like hand me down Black Doom. I'd hope his voice is a bit closer to his original. More clear, less throat hurting
@@faz10do Maybe. Even if that were the case, I think there’s a better way to voice Mephiles than just doing a Black Doom type voice again. Doesn’t quite have to be the exact same he had in 06, just something close or similar in spirit
@@faz10do eh, I don't think that's a good reason if that is what they were thinking or use to justify such drastic change in voice direction. Having two character with the exact same type of voice is always rather lazy imo. Especially if one already had an established style of voice which fitted his character way better. The fact people can even confuse the two now shows me the flaw in that. It is a trailer and those often put sentences out of context. I persoanlly think that's what happend here. I don't believe it's Mephiles talking at all. People are overthinking imo. And if I'm wrong on this, well, then this is an awful voice for Mephiles.
Well, after playing Sonic X Shadow Generations, i can safely say they definitely changed Shadow's line. Now he says "on your feet" instead of "you got this"
Very interesting theory. I can only hope that the actual story can reflect what you laid out here. Speaking from experience, Shadow having to make peace with his past *again* after doing so in his own game is an interesting concept because it may reveal something new about him.
I’ve been agreeing with the Mephiles and Time Eater connection headcanon for a while now, but WOW you pointed out so many more connections that I never even realized!
He's literally based off of Sonic, and designed to be the ultimate lifeform. I personally took that as Sonic, intentionally or not, being at the apex already and Shadow was an attempt to recreate that Prophetic Legend.
Can't wait for Sonic X Shadow X Silver Generations; The future is in peril (again) and his psychokinesis evolves to keep the White Space from breaking apart, going through Sonic & Shadow's more reality-breaking foes.
I agree. I’d love to see a short DLC story for this game showing what *Silver* was up leading to his appearances in Generations. Give him also a boss fight with Iblis and some sort of interaction with Blaze.
I kinda wanna see a scene where there’s a possibility of Shadow reversing the events that happened on the Ark but realising than in order for the timeline to work, Maria HAS to die that day and Gerald HAS to be executed. He cannot change the past or else it’d destroy the timeline. Obviously Shadow knows better than this and even in 06 he doesn’t even hesitate to just accept that maybe the world will fight against him but with Maria, I do think he’d get more irrational since he’s never actually gotten the opportunity to effect Maria’s death. Kinda like the ending of Professor Layton and the Lost Future (if anyone’s played that)
That'd be an interesting one since most of the time in the previous games with time travel, there's no serious dilemma behind the decision to alter the timeline outside of Silver's actions in 2006 but he doesn’t actually get to change anything in that one. If Mephiles is involved and actually plays a role in the story, perhaps Mephiles is trying to tempt Shadow once again by offering him an opportunity to save Maria and Gerald at the cost of damning the timeline. It's as Shadow puts it, he craves only destruction until there is nothing left of time itself and is either responsible for reviving Black Doom or pulled him out of his point of demise to be used for his goals. The fact we're getting this much from Doom's Eye in a game where the Time Eater is around suggests that either he's a co-antagonist to Mephiles, he starts out as the antagonist for most of the story before Mephiles takes over or a red herring and Mephiles is the man behind the curtain. The trailer could be edited to make it appear that Mephiles is just a rival boss battle. Considering what Mephiles' goals are, his connection to time travel and the threat he poses, it doesn't seem like him to be willingly serving someone else unless he's only aiding Black Doom in getting revenge against Shadow while keeping his cards close to his chest. Usually in these games, you have your Eggman who's the proactive villian you see the most of within the narrative and then you get the likes of him where they're more in the shadows. The hidden villian who brings about the endgame of the plot.
3:44 I interpreted that as a line Doom will say to Maria and Gerald to try and break their faith in Shadow. As for the difference, I think Doom's Eye and Black Doom are going to be given different sound effects from each other. Same character, different voice box.
Could be, however it's Time Eater that sends Shadow to Maria and Gerald in white space according to the story trailer. Unless Black Doom temporarily takes over the Time Eater, what sense would that make? Cause that'd ultimately mean that if Black Doom made Time Eater an illusion in Shadow Generations that'd also technically make Maria and Gerald in whitespace also illusions no?
many people have pointed out that, yes the line was literally changed. and some of the evidence compiled together are all Black Doom directly referring to Shadow directly being his progeny and living weapon to conquer Earth. but i still think this is interesting! i think Shadow Generations sets up a lot of potential future Shadow stuff, and i would love to see Mephiles return. as an aside, i do personally like the "on your feet" line change, bc (in my opinion) it is evocative of how Shadow himself admires Sonic (in a way). everyone shows their belief in Sonic to defeat the Time Eater simply because he's Sonic (they all likely have their own reasons but i'm focusing on why Shads himself believes in Sonic). Shadow believes in Sonic because Sonic doesn't give up, he keeps fighting. he saying "you can do this" in a roundabout way that fits his character more.
I personally think it would be cool if they shifted Rouge over to being saved by Shadow, meanwhile Sonic instead saves Big. Way back when Generations released, Big's voice actor was in the credits as Big even though he's not in the game, and he confirmed that he recorded lines for Big and it was apparently something cut so late that even he was surprised to find out Big had been cut. With the addition of a Shadow campaign, it makes sense for him to save Rouge, and since Big already has lines recorded they could easily add him back to Sonic's campaign. Omega and Big were the most conspicuous absences in the original game so now they'd all be included.
Or they could add Big into Shadow's campaign and make him someone who ends up helping Shadow figure what's really going on. Plus it'd be a fun way to acknowledge the fact both him and Omega were voiced by Jon St. John during the early 2000's.
@@rayvenkman2087 Big just isn't really connected to Shadow in anyway. And meanwhile, Shadow is in desperate need of more characters to rescue with a close connection to him, and Rouge is already taken up by the main game. So if they just moved her over, I feel it would make more sense.
@@smoogieboogie1694That’s only until this game reveals the true first creation of Project Shadow was Big, and why he was the only character to appear in every stage in SA2. …But in all seriousness, it would be neat to see Big there for Seaside Hill and Rogue in Shadow’s expansion.
Holy shit; yeah, a lotta that makes sense. Mad respect, actually, for putting all the pieces together. I know I wouldn't've been able to, not that easily, at least. This gives me a few interesting thoughts for when the game gets out that I'd like to find the answers to... here's hoping, right? BONUS: "Sonic X Shadow... eugh, no, don't _encourage_ it..." *ding* -I HOPE that gets put in, PLEASE-

He was so mad when I mad us pay the last boss just so we could hear it as proof. That aside, man I really miss David Humphrey as Shadow…he sounded so unique
I really like the misdirect in the title But yeah, i really like the idea of changing the context of the line instead of outright removing it, even if I'm not a fan of the line as it currently is
@@Charriii5 I mean, still kinda says that. Like I said, the current title is a misdirect, changing the line doesn't have to mean changing the words lol Did enjoy the theory, and I hope our favourite spooky boi gets a bigger role in the story
Chariii5, by the end of this video you took one of the most mundane lines in Sonic history, and gave it so much meaning that hearing it gave me chills.
What if Shadow of Shadow Generation is the present timeline's Shadow and Time Eater time traveled him into the Sonic Generation's timeline meaning that 2 Shadow exists at the same time!
7:46 This also kinda makes sense because the emerald that’s depicted in the mural, the Master Emerald, is green. And we usually see Shadow with the Green Chaos Emerald.
12:17 I’m gonna sound crazy saying this but, how cool would it be if Gamma appeared in Shadow Generations? Yeah he has no ties whatsoever with Shadow, so it’d be a little weird. But Gamma’s heavily connected to Omega, and Gamma’s story has similar story beats to Shadow’s in SA2: created life form is used by doctor Eggman for his nefarious plot, the life form begins to grow doubt of one’s self, then Amy is the one to convince them that there’s more to life, oh and the fact they both were intended to die at the end of their stories. So how cool would it be to have shadow interact with, for lack of a better term, a prototype version of shadow (meta-textually wise). Idk, if anyone bothered to read through this lemme know what you think lol.
If Charii is correct that Shadow will have to consciously make a sacrifice by the end of this game, then I think Gamma would be a really cool thematic inclusion. After all, his fate in Sonic Adventure was to die, as that was the only way that the bird's family could be reunited. Gamma could be promised a way out, but refuse, saying that he has to commit to completing his rescue mission.
12:02 I disagree with this, Radical Highway has appeared as a non-distorted illusion in one of the latest trailers, plus the bridge even shows up in white space, so I believe there's a regular Radical Highway stage version and a distorted city version which combines elements from both Radical Highway and Westopolis
Something to think about is also the fact that to add onto what you said about it “Not shaking Shadow” or how he “won’t falter” is the idea that well… he’s seeing the future. If he’s seeing the future, then of course, he has no reason to worry about Sonic beating the time eater, whether he has his help or not
Honestly i'm enjoying how much you are interested in the Lore of the games nowadays, i think its your BEST content nowadays with the everything wrong series

What about Super Shadow, people loved Super Shadow, he's been there in 3 games.

I will admit, this is the only other possible explanation: someone else being in that scene talking about Shadow.

Seeing how self referencial the Sonic franchise is now I think it's perfectly possible
Shadow's absolutely gonna fuck someone up with the nastiest spinning kick in history, guarantee it

In Sonic Frontiers, when asked by Sonic, Sage states that Eggman brought a Death Egg Robot to the island for defense but ended up using a more typical vehicle to navigate around the island. Regardless of it being destroyed, Eggman brought it, not a portal -_-
Still, they don't explain how it got destroyed, do they? It would be cool if Shadow did it somehow. (Or maybe it was just a Titan, I dunno.)

That's lame.
It's really amusing to me how Shadow passed the title to Sonic because he thought he was about to die, but then woke up and thought "Nah I'm still him"
The DLC for frontiers explains that the death egg robot was brought by Eggman for mining and it broke due to the volcanic activity

the whole thing of sonic 06 was time travel, and now that the effects of his and iblis’ death (crisis city in base generations fire tornadoes in both acts are largely assumed to be iblis i believe.)
so, it wouldn’t make sense for him to *not* want a run back after being erased from history.

I mean. The title of the video didn’t lie. Sonic X Shadow generations definitely changed this line.

Even if the “he is a warrior” interaction is a one off thing, I hope it still is shadow gassing up sonic because he’s always had respect and faith in him. The most recent example of this is prime where Sonic is a fool, naive, and too fast for his own good which Shadow tells him often.

I would 100% buy this
On. Your. Feet.
many people have pointed out that, yes the line was literally changed. and some of the evidence compiled together are all Black Doom directly referring to Shadow directly being his progeny and living weapon to conquer Earth. but i still think this is interesting! i think Shadow Generations sets up a lot of potential future Shadow stuff, and i would love to see Mephiles return.
as an aside, i do personally like the "on your feet" line change, bc (in my opinion) it is evocative of how Shadow himself admires Sonic (in a way). everyone shows their belief in Sonic to defeat the Time Eater simply because he's Sonic (they all likely have their own reasons but i'm focusing on why Shads himself believes in Sonic). Shadow believes in Sonic because Sonic doesn't give up, he keeps fighting. he saying "you can do this" in a roundabout way that fits his character more.
I mean...the title wasn't wrong.
BONUS: "Sonic X Shadow... eugh, no, don't _encourage_ it..." *ding*
-I HOPE that gets put in, PLEASE-
Ian who had never thought any of that /j
I remember as kids, my best friend became the ultimate Shadow fan with SA2 and I was the ultimate Sonic fan. So when I told him that line is in the game, he didn’t believe me. He was so mad when I mad us pay the last boss just so we could hear it as proof. That aside, man I really miss David Humphrey as Shadow…he sounded so unique
O N Y O U R F E E T !
The line “he is a warrior” isn’t talking about either Shadow or Sonic.
It’s black doom and Shadow discussing Knuckles “jamming” playlist.
Also Shadow's White Space straight up resembles Soleanna with the water accents in addition to the purple surrounding areas and obelisks.
“ if the world chooses to become my enemy, I will fight like I always have”
I really like the misdirect in the title
But yeah, i really like the idea of changing the context of the line instead of outright removing it, even if I'm not a fan of the line as it currently is
I was originally going to name this "Sonic X Shadow Generations Will Change How You Feel about this Line" but that felt long and awkward to read.
@@Charriii5 I mean, still kinda says that. Like I said, the current title is a misdirect, changing the line doesn't have to mean changing the words lol
Did enjoy the theory, and I hope our favourite spooky boi gets a bigger role in the story
Chariii5, by the end of this video you took one of the most mundane lines in Sonic history, and gave it so much meaning that hearing it gave me chills.
@Charriii5 I think that the G.U.N. Commander also has a potential chance to show up somewhere.
At the very least, he gets a cameo (as a child) in the second episode of Dark Beginnings. We even have confirmation of his name, now!
@@Semudara yep
@@SemudaraWhen?
@@aidanhammans9337 Right near the start; he's the boy with silver hair and two different eye colors who seems to be disgusted with Shadow.
I gotta keep calling it "Sonic Cross Shadow Generations" for my sanity.
Same 💀
What if Shadow of Shadow Generation is the present timeline's Shadow and Time Eater time traveled him into the Sonic Generation's timeline meaning that 2 Shadow exists at the same time!
This was actually a really interesting theory and it clearly had a lot of time and thought put into it!
At least the title was appropriate. Everything else aged poorly 😂
Valiant effort, though
I just realized that this was a Charri5 vid
Soo... About that 😭
7:46 This also kinda makes sense because the emerald that’s depicted in the mural, the Master Emerald, is green.
@@Semudara I love this idea.
12:02 I disagree with this, Radical Highway has appeared as a non-distorted illusion in one of the latest trailers, plus the bridge even shows up in white space, so I believe there's a regular Radical Highway stage version and a distorted city version which combines elements from both Radical Highway and Westopolis
this aged like milk
Something to think about is also the fact that to add onto what you said about it “Not shaking Shadow” or how he “won’t falter” is the idea that well… he’s seeing the future. If he’s seeing the future, then of course, he has no reason to worry about Sonic beating the time eater, whether he has his help or not
In which case saying "You've got this, Sonic" makes a whole lot of sense, beyond being some nice encouragement.
Honestly i'm enjoying how much you are interested in the Lore of the games nowadays, i think its your BEST content nowadays with the everything wrong series
