So this morning they actually revealed that the flutes they used for the Offseers were actually made in real life and used to record the flute pieces, like this one. so once the game comes out, any time we see one of the characters playing a flute, it's very likely to have been recorded on a physical version of the very same flute.
This song, from what they've shown in the Xenoblade 3 trailers, is actually canon to the characters. This is all within the synopsis of the game's basic story, so no spoilers here! It's a song played by the main character used to off-see dead soldiers who don't make it off the battlefield alive. Often times, those that pass on are only kids forced into this war, and it's looking to be a super profound and emotional story for the main cast. It'd be awesome if you had the chance to play this game sometime in the future; music actually has a very strong importance in this game to the characters' roles in this war-torn world, and I'd love to see your reaction.
Having played the game to completion, you can't really hear this song without thinking of a certain moment. The song is important from the word go due to what it's connected to, but there's a scene in the story where it comes into sharp relief, to put a point on it. You get very aware of its presence, not the least because you understand what it means. Saying more would be spoilers, and I sure as hell do not want to spoil that moment, it's one of my favorite moments from any video game I've played.
It’s not really a spoiler but this game involves a party of characters where two different people from opposing nations who are “offseers”. A job that involves playing a special flute to see off the souls of the fallen on the battlefield. Two of the characters have this job in their respective nations, and the solo flute slowly joined into a duet symbolizes them joining together and forming a party.
Oh man I love the emotion this song has. Just also the image that went straight into my head whilst listening to it is some lush and dense bamboo forest. I could imagine myself meditating inside that forest with this song playing. Its got such emotion with peacefulness to it at the same time.
You really are such a gentle soul. Thank you for sharing your perspective with us. It never ceases to amaze me how well you understand and guess at the themes of songs without knowing the context.
It's possible it's not even the full song. All the other songs Nintendo have previewed from the game aren't full songs. Guess they don't wanna spoil the whole song until you get to the game. It's funny how you pretty much perfectly guessed what the song symbolizes considering what we know about the plot so far from all the trailers
Xenoblade 3 coming out is a great opportunity for new fans to jump into the series. Every main entry is on the Switch, and as soon as you finish you can jump right into the next game without having to wait several years. I'm very envious of anyone in that position to experience these games for the first time! Probably gets said over and over but it really cannot be overstated how good this series is, a must play experience genuinely. July 29th cannot come soon enough...
I can't wait for Xenoblade 3. The whole thing going on with the game is that it combines many aspects of the first two games (the main image you see for the game is a combination of XC1's and XC2's boxart visuals) and in the first reveal trailer, the part of this track at 2:33 played when the view of that first came into reveal and it gave me chills. It feels like this series has been building up to this moment for years and I can't wait to see how it turns out.
You have a talent for nailing the situations in which these songs are used, like honestly every video of yours I’ve watched in which I have knowledge of the song, you’ve perfectly described it’s use.
The motif of Noah and Mio's theme coming together. Oh goodness. This game was a masterpiece in my opinion. I've played all the Xenoblade games. And I love ALL of them. One of my favorite franchises. I didn't think that my bias towards XB1's story would be swayed, but XB3 put it into question and with the addition of the DLC, it absolutely demolished it. The themes of the story is so sincere and uplifting. The ost is my favorite because of how they effectively tell a story throughout. The motifs are masterfully handled that brings to light a deeper surface than the one that's being directly told. ooof enough of the gushing. lol
The moment I heard that flute, I was taken back to Scars of Time (Chrono Cross) ... while I don't know ANY of the game's story, one of my friends growing up played it and he'd Always 'sit through the intro menu cinematic' because the music was awesome.
When they first showed the trailer playing this piece, it had title screen vibes, but then again Xenoblade title songs rely on a more deep way of relaying its' message and how instruments come into play. Really curious to listen to the title song while watching the environment to see what it evokes this time 😄
Love your passion! Thank you for covering this game. I feel it's going to be something incredibly special; the rest of its soundtrack too. Some of the trailer songs already bringing me to tears lol, check out the "direct teaser trailer")
What’s especially special about this song is, in-universe, it is actually two independent melodies used by the warring nations of Keves and Agnis for off-seeing. As such, prior to the events of the game, they have never been played together at the same time and place. Despite that, they harmonize perfectly into a greater off-seeing melody.
Like others have probably said. I dont think this is the full duration but Just the sample put out there. My hope is that it will be longer when the game comes out
You've really were spot on with what this song is about. Without spoilers it's a song meant to tribute the dead in a never ending and seemingly pointless war.
The game is a blast. Can't say more just so I don't spoil anyone. I love it. Especially the music and "A Life sent on" is such a beautiful piece of music.
The last direct and all the info they've been dropping has alleviated all my fears coming from XC2 and got me excited in XC3. This song is one of those reasons, earned emotional moments in XC2 were rare but this song makes me think like they'll actually be able to pull it off this time.
The whole Xenoblade series has a really good track record of amazing music. This one has title screen written all over it and feels very much like the main title theme for XB1 and "Where We Used to Be" from XB2
Wow Marco, what a meaningful and beautiful soundtrack. It hits me "in all the feels". And as you said, the intro song is similar in tone to the likes of "A Brand New Day", which too is a very reflective song from AC6. It really does feel like a fresh new start, where anything is possible! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Looking forward to play this game, but will likely play XC1 and XC2 first, as I already have them but never dived into them. Great to listen to this piece with you though! Also, nice haircut :)
Finished the game a couple days ago and I'm just floored by how amazing evry minute was. And every time this tune came in I'm just in absolute ribbons!
Judging by the trailers so far, XC3 looks like it's going to be as densely packed with amazing music as XC2 was, (and XCDE, though imo to lesser extent).
After playing the game (currently at the final boss as of making this comment) your description of this piece of music couldn't be more accurate to how it's portrayed and use within the actual story.
Great video, it always amazes me how much you get right just by listening to a song. If you need another Xenoblade Chronicles 3 song to react you should listen to Keves battle.
I can genuinely say that this game not only uplifted me, made me smile and laugh, but also crushed me emotionally in ways that I didn't know where possible. The music in this game is all so very perfect, and the duet version of this very track, along with 'Words that never reached you' are so disturbingly beautiful, and I find myself listening to them near daily. 'I want that to last another 5 minutes' is probably the most perfect way to describe every moment and piece of the puzzle that is this masterpiece of a game, and I implore you to check it out fully for yourself if you already haven't
Xenoblade 3 is an absolute masterpiece. There's a part in the game where a different version of this plays, and it absolutely tore my heart out. I'll leave it at that.
Normally, I'd have a quote or something related to the scene where a song appears, but since the game isn't out yet I guess I'll need to come back and watch the video again so I can. Now that you've listned to this you should do the other title songs ('Main Theme' from XC1, 'no9=MONOX' from XCX, and 'Where We Used To Be' from XC2) together and compare them with one another. I think it would be an interesting way to see how the different openings represent their games. Thanks for another great analysis!
I think this isn’t even the full version of the song! Past main menu themes were way longer than this so … it’s only gonna get better. Thanks for the reaction ! We’re all very excited to play the game and discover all the other tracks
For the record Like the other two xenoblade chronicles, the 3rd opus can be played without having played the other two, nevertheless there are references to the other two games. For example in the background we can see the sword of mekonis, the titan that we see on the cover of xenoblade chronicles 1 pierce the titan Uraya that we see on the cover of xenoblade chronicles 2. I can't wait to play the game for these kinds of details and for the music as always.
