Rusviet Industrial: The Original Scythe Banned Combination. Is it really OP? - The Mill

- Welcome to The Mill! I've heard it told that Rusviet Industrial is ridiculously OP. That you can win the game early. Others scoff and say aware opponents won't let it happen. I decided to break out Scythe Digital Edition and test this combo using the infamous turn order posted online. Let's see whether or not this combination really deserved a ban. I have a full playthrough, a second sped up play through, and then a third final round to compare a few different results.

We played last weekend just to see how it work patriotic crimea vs industrial rusviet! I won with crimea 127 Vs 67 with a poor game of my friend (and she is one of the best players here, so take that in mind, I have lucky to say so). Funny, It was the reverse on my side though this time I won in only 13 rounds against the Patriotic Crimea.

Im curious how did you move from the village hex with your character all the way to the factory?
Rusviet Township Mech Ability. "Move between any village you control and the factory"

Is this on PC? My version doesn't look anything like this! Is there something I need to do in settings?
Yes, It's on PC. Oh, perhaps in options, there is a new "paintshop" and you can turn on the skins to make it look like the MeepleSource painted meeples. It's not free form. I may also have chose a different map color in the settings. There are a lot of settings, though I wish it would detail what those changes are. Some of the color options are things like B&W.
How do you increase the speed of the turns? Mind is super slllllooowwww. Have a fast laptop too. (Mac)
They may be banned in competitive play.....

At 5:10, when moving workers with your mech, after unloading workers on the first hex, why was the Mech allowed to move to another Hex? Shouldn’t the Mech have stopped on the first hex ? ( or did I miss something).
Mech can drop off and pick up workers mid move when they have speed.
After deploying the second mech, why didn’t you move your character on the Factory using the township ability and score the objective too (you had no upgrades by that time)? Sorry if it is a silly question: just got the game last week and I’m still learning all the tropes 😉
Marco - For this video I was using a play order that was said to end the game on the same turn consistently. So I was demonstrating that play order. I would definitely have not been clever enough to find it on my own. lol. Welcome to Scythe though, Marco. I hope you enjoy your time with it. :)
The Mill Yeah, I thought that was part of the “build” you were following.
I just played a couple of games with the automa and I really like the glow of the game; the art and the setting are awesome too... I can’t wait to play again, though I also have a ton of other games I’d love to play and absolutely no time 😭😭😭
@@Feldingor To answer, getting the factory card is not always that important. Also, jumping to the factory early means you will be kind of a sitting duck, attracting attacks, and thus letting your opponents mess with your plan to get 16 power. The idea behind this strategy is that you stay on your own island until you have 4 stars (or 5 with an objective), and then get out to end the game by getting the last 2. So during the first 13-14 turns, no one can mess with you, and then you go out and end the game, most of the time ending in a win.
But as a general strategy advice, getting out of your island too early when you can't defend yourself is not always a good idea. It always depends on what your opponents do of course.
If the AI is given the Rusviet Industrial combination does it go through the same moves?
Sorry for the long delay, I had to try it. In the couple of games I played where I gave the Hard AI Industrial Rusviet, it did not go through the same moves.
