This was so eloquently explained! I’ve been trying to figure this method out for days. I feel like a pro now after watching this. I'm so excited to have cleaner cased elastics now! :D
LOVE this tutorial! I love your diapers too! I am starting TODAY to learn how to sew my own CD and so I appreciate the hard efforts to make this kind of video. I hadn't even though of sewn in elastic vs. casing the elastic, casing seems like it is really worth the effort!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! i have just started to make my own cloth diapers and i couldn't for the life of me get the elastic on right and i'm a sewer!!! i was hoping that there was another way to do the elastic and was thinking of this type of casing just couldn't figure it out!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!
I'm going nuts trying to get elastic down before I stop destroying old tshirts and move onto real fabric... This is the most helpful video I've watched so far, thank you!!
Haha, I was really curious about your new method, only to find that it is exactly what I have been doing all along. :p The only difference is that I don't turn the diaper inside out again to tack down the elastic. I am now going to try and find out what the 'normal' way is of doing this!
This is so helpful. Thank you. I just got the totally squared pattern and going to try it. Haven't done pockets yet. Do you make a welt pocket? I am very confused on how to do that. Would love a full tutorial on you making the whole diaper.
Do u offer a complete tutorial on making your version?? I LOVE LOVE LOVE your cloth diapers && ur use of two prints. Also, could u give a tutorial on ur pattern please!!!!
I love to sew but I'm a complete beginner, my son is a allergic to disposable diapers so we had to start cloth which has been WONDERFUL but they are a bit expensive starting out (for us anyways) so I bought all the stuff and started. Sewing elastic has been my problem and I wasted fabric and elastic and my needle snapped. All the tutorials I've watched sew straight down the elastic and they make it look so easy but it's not. 😤 😂 Thank you. Now I just have to keep my stitches straight.
I am completely new to cloth diapering and I am getting ready to sew my first batch, your video is pretty interesting tip wise. my question is what is the square of material with your snaps casings? I have never seen anything like that before
THANK YOU!!! loved the video. I am making a size one diaper and the elastic is stiff and will not move. I will try to do in this way and add a stronger elastic. I to have replaced tons of elastic after 3 children. I use a safety pin fastened to the end of my elastic and push the safety pin though the casing. It work well if anyone dose not have a Bodkin( I hope that's right word for it).
I use Rocket Bottoms patterns and she has fantastic tutorials already on how to construct the diapers from her patterns. Here's her main site and she has a Blog link that has many, many tutorials. rocketbottoms.com/
Can you please show me how to put the printed side on the diaper I have no idea how to do that and I think it looks so cute when the diaper has two different colors (:
@Hannah Gardzina - (I can't reply to your comment for some reason) I do a modified welt and there are lots of YT videos on how to do that. Little Bundas is my favorite channel with a lot of great how to's. Here's her modified welt pocket tutorial: Modified Welt Pocket Opening.wmv
This looks interesting I want to try it but I'm still slightly confused though lol one minute I feel like I know how to do it then the next I don't haha I have yet to make a successful diaper 😔
Tudah Rbah (thank you very much). SHLM UHaB (peace & love). The Name of the Creator is Hayah asher Hayah, as what He told Mose (Exodus 3:14), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. There is a curse to the G-o-d name (Isaiah 65:11-12), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. All followers of the Messiah are to do the 7 appointed times (Leviticus 23), but no more animal sacrifices, following the Crucifixion of the Messiah. We are now of the order of MLK TSDQ (King, Righteous), to Whom ABRaHM tithed. He is the ONLY way to Everlasting Life. He is the Atoning Offering for mankind, for the remission of sin (1 John 2:1-2).
This was awesome! Used your technique sewing my first CD last night and I rocked the elastic thanks to you! Thanks for sharing!

Definitely, the best/most informative elastic video I've seen yet! Thank you!
Great idea! Also, you're a very neat sewer - all your lines are so beautifully straight hehe!
thank you this is awesome. made my first diaper tonight and the elastic was pain in the behind. can't wait to try this method
This is so helpful. Thank you. I just got the totally squared pattern and going to try it. Haven't done pockets yet. Do you make a welt pocket? I am very confused on how to do that. Would love a full tutorial on you making the whole diaper.
Very helpful! I made my first fitted diaper last night and the elastic was a nightmare. I'll be using this method from now on.
Beautiful! I am trying to make diapers for my grandchild and this was so helpful.
Diaper is adorable! Thanks so much!
do you have a pattern or video on making the entire cloth diaper.. I have been looking around for the perfect pattern and yours look amazing..
Yvette Garza lqsx hi
I've tried too many times sewing the " normal" way. I sew elastic the same as you. It's SO much easier!
This is great! I'm trying this on my next diaper! Awesome
Do u offer a complete tutorial on making your version?? I LOVE LOVE LOVE your cloth diapers && ur use of two prints. Also, could u give a tutorial on ur pattern please!!!!
Thank you!
I mention it in the video but I use the Totally Squared OS pattern by Rocket Bottoms (sorry I can't link in comments)
This is exactly what I do too, soo much easier, & looks really nice!

From other videos, those are squares of PUL fabric to help reinforce the snaps :) Hope that helps!
Thank you, it does.
Where can we find a copy of your pattern?
I have a baby shower on the 22nd and I'm hoping to do a Diaper Cake, with re-usable diapers.
What fabric do you use for the inner layer of your pocket diapers? I am just starting to make my own diapers and would appreciate your advice.
Very helpful. May I also please ask what's the model number of your sewing machine? Do you like it? Thank you.

Where did you find your metal bobkin? I have a plastic one that is bigger, but I have broke one in the past.
You can purchase them at your local sew shop or JoAnn. Probably even on Amazon

Thank you! I can't wait to try this!
That was an awesome tutorial. TYFS!
nice way for applying the elastic band but i wish if i could see all the process from the beginning
What is that tool you used to pull the elastic through? I tried to listen and it sounded like you said Bob pin?
Hi Jason - it's called a bodkin. There are a couple different types, both of which can be picked up at your local sew or craft shop.
