    Heya my fellow sew'n'sews! 😜 I can't believe it's been 6 years since I attempted to start RUclips tutorials! And I can't believe this video got 43K views whilst I've stepped away due to being super busy!
    I actually have a more refined and streamlined way to sew nappies now, but everything in this video should help newbies to visualise the basice of how nappies come together!
    Don't take any of this as gospel though, but take away the bits you need and go for gold, working out the ways that work best for you!
    All that said, who is still around sewing nappies? They don't seem to be selling these days, but don't worry because it ALWAYS makes a comeback with the newer parents who want to embrace cloth nappies for their babies! Swings and roundabouts, am I right? ❤❤

    Hi, Why bother with a microfleece layer if this is just being used as a wrap?

    Hi. I have just discovered this fantastic tutorial but am wondering about the hook and loop width and placement of the large strips that fold over (i.e is the hook on the outside?). Thank you

    Hello, I was wondering if you had or knew of a pattern that would fit a 50 pound child? Hes in size 6t pants.

    • @sewtopiaaustralia181

      Hey Kelly. I'd say give the XL Rainbow Catcher a try! I've used it for my bigger girls when they've needed a night nappy for bed wetting around 6 years old. It's a side snapping nappy which is nice and trim and comfy. You can buy it on Esty now, but the pattern maker has stepped back from it now, so you can reach out to other makers in the Facebook group 'How to make your own Modern Cloth Nappies and Woolies' for help and support if needed!

    Hi I’m struggling with top stitching my pul nappies. The stitches are skipping. Can you recommend a foot and a needle type please?

    • @juliescott9503
      @juliescott9503 5 лет назад +2

      When I do projects like this I use a heavy duty needle. Also, change your needle often, make sure to put a new needle in when you are starting a new project. You should be able to use a regular presser foot.

      You could use a walking foot. Helps with pulling multiple layers of fabric through evenly.

    What machine and overlocker do you use please? And do you recommmed them?

    • @sewtopiaaustralia181
      @sewtopiaaustralia181  4 года назад +3

      I use a Brother NS35 sewing machine, never skipped a beat! And a Janome 644D overlocker, and a Brother Lock 2504D overlocker. I have 2 overlockers as I produce a high volume of nappies and garments, so I need to be able to switch quickly between the machines for different uses.
      I do recommend those machines as I really don't ever have any issues with any of them! And you definitely get what you pay for, so if you don't want to be pulling your hair out, quality machines and threads are paramount! :)

    My niece had premie twins. Their tiny butts were smaller than the palm of my hand. Even using a premie pattern, their tiny chicken legs had too much room. 👼🤪😊

    Hi, can I ask roughly what dimensions your pattern is? I’m looking at buying some PUL online and their nappy cut is 50cm X 50cm and I’m wondering if this would be enough fabric to cover this particular pattern? I’ve looked at the pattern itself and the post that goes with it but can’t seem to find any mention of dimensions for the piece of fabric needed

    • @sewtopiaaustralia181
      @sewtopiaaustralia181  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Claire! Sorry I didn't see this sooner! Generally 50x50 cuts are acceptable. I sell nappy panels via my online store www.sewtopiafabrics.com which are approx 60cm wide x 55cm long as many of my WAHMs use larger patterns. I personally use the Rocket Bottoms fitted for my OSFM base, and 50x50 is more than enough. What pattern are you goung to use? You will need to print it off and measure to make sure of the meausrements. I know the Happy Hippos nappy patterns are quite long, so 50x50 won't work for that.

      In regards to the pattern in the video and blog, I honestly cannot recall the measurements as it was so long ago and I haven't used them since!

    Hi, I'm trying to make my first cover and am using snaps for the first time. With double thickness pul the sensors keep popping off. Do I need longer snaps, or could I be doing something wrong? Thank you
