Thank you for the tutorial. I’m not a beginning sewist but have just never done this diaper before. A tip for anyone who may be trying to do a bit of deciphering: when “pull” is mentioned, the person doing the video is referring to PUL (polyurethane laminate). Just wanted to mention this as my mother and I were watching this and we are longtime sewists and have never heard it referred to as ”pull.” It is typically called “P-U-L.”
Hi thank you for the tutorial u mentioned the 2 styles of wings the one the pattern came with and the extra one but I have 2 extra ones and am slightly confused on that
How do diy diapers compare in price to buying? I love sewing and can see myself spending the time doing it when the time comes but wonder about cost effectiveness
Do you prewash your fabric for your soaker (sorry if I missed it in the video)? Where do you buy your fabric? We LOVE this diaper and I need more soakers!!
Hi Allison! I prewash and dry natural fibers (like hemp and bamboo) 5 times! This will shrink the fabric fully, and help it near maximum absorbency. I buy most of my fabric from diapersewingsupplies.com, but wazoodle.com and kinderel.com also have good absorbent materials
Thanks for the tutorial! The diaper came out so beautiful. Can you please tell me what types of fabric you perfer to use for each section of the diaper? I've had so many people tell me different things that I'm not sure what fabric to buy now.
It can get complicated! It really depends what type of diapers you want to make. Definitely you'll want PUL (polyurethane laminate) for the outside. The inner can be PUL again (like i've done here) for a wipeable cover, or other things like athletic wicking jersey, suede cloth, or microfleece (NOT microfiber) for pockets or Ai2's.
Very thorough! How would I sew a fitted diaper using cotton velour and anti pill fleece as my inner layers? 🙏🏽 is it the same technique? I'm scared to mess up! 😭
What I like to do for that is treat your outer layer and hidden anti pill fleece as ONE layer. You can baste them together, or glue them together with washable gluesticks, then just pretend they're one layer and sew it together the same way!
What is the difference of this diaper then the The Happy Hippos Flawless Fit OS One Size Cloth Diaper? I am trying to decide what I need. I have a newborn grandbaby girl on the way. Thank you
I have this pattern and am trying to wrap my head around it! Did you use the Ai2 option and just make it wipeable with two layers of PUL? Or did you use the cover option and just add internal snaps for the insert to snap into?
18" will cut it really close! I usually advise against doing half yards. Try looking at places like Nature's Fabric to see if they do 20" cuts. Those are perfect!
That's a great question, actually. I've never considered that. It very well could be better for snap reinforcement in the area of the snap-in soaker. I've simply never tried it since I always have 1 mil on hand!
Thanks for this video. I was looking for a way to do elastics without making a tab for them. Is the blue table/floor you're showing the pattern on real wood that's stained or a laminate? Its beautiful
Hi Rooska, I see this video is 6 years old but I would love to know the make and model of your scissors. Would appreciate your reply. P.S this video was fantastic!
hey, thank you SO MUCH for this video ! I was afraid of doing it, bought the pattern one year ago, and finally went threw it ! so thank you so so so so much ! I just didn't understood the final snaps (the "belt snaps") why do we have so much ? is it just to be more practical for the mini baby sizes ?
You pretty much nailed it. If we didn't do so many waist snaps, they'd fit for a much shorter amount of time. With a BUNCH of waist snaps, they'll fit much longer!
Chelsie Chmelyk some people choose to cut that box out of the paper pattern, however, then you'd cut out the snap placement guide for the insert snaps. What *I* personally would do transfer my pattern to template plastic (I buy mine at JoAnn), and mark the embroidery box on the template plastic.
I've seen some people have decent luck with cheap cutting mats they find at their local grocery stores. It requires a little more work, but might be an option for you!
hushabye fabric, canadian fluff supply, Baby Bumblebee Designs, picklefroggies fabric, me sew cute fabrics, nature's fabric, that's just a few I can remember off the top of my head. Some are retail and some are preorder.
Ok quick question. You mentioned you have like 140 yards of elastic...where do you buy that? Joanne and hobby lobby etc are so dang expensive...thanks!
I bought this pattern just now, but when I go to my account it says that I have not purchased anything yet!!! I have the receipt and the charge has gone through my card!!!! What can I do??
This video is great! I watched it all in one sitting and now I am going back as I make my first 2 diapers so I can read instructions/watch you do it. I MUST KNOW, what did you use to poke those PERFECT round circles on your paper pattern?!
I'm a bit OCD, so I'm totally not trying to sound rude by saying this, just commenting. I kept cringing everytime you said "Pull" instead of "P-U-L" (by letter). I know that it is personal preference as to which way people call it. Just so used to people calling it "P-U-L". On another note, that Fabric was absolutely beautiful! I love it! You made a very beautiful diaper! Nice job! 🥰
Thank you for the tutorial. I’m not a beginning sewist but have just never done this diaper before.

Your work is very neat, going to try this
So nervous, but you know what? I'm going to go for it. You explain everything so well!❤️ Thank you!
You'll do great! Gotta dive in somewhere!
You are a very good teacher. A hint: Use table knives as sewing weights. You can purchase extras at the thrift store.
GENIUS! I am a high school teacher as well, so it happens naturally. Thank you for the compliment. It means a lot!!!!
Very pretty thank you for sharing with us
This tutorial was simply amazing
Love this so much. I'm brand new to sewing and am using your video to help me through my first diaper! Thanks!
Thank you very much, I learn a lot from you, with your serger too !!!
Hi thank you for the tutorial u mentioned the 2 styles of wings the one the pattern came with and the extra one but I have 2 extra ones and am slightly confused on that
Thanks for the tutorial, what did you use in the underlane, the name of the last thing you fixed on it?
Love the floral fabric
What weight hemp fleece do you use for the soaker?
I love that print.
Thank you so much for such a detailed information 👌👍
How can you do the insert if you dont have one of the other machines to sew and cut the insert?
Where to buy snaps and why are there 2 green machines?
How do diy diapers compare in price to buying? I love sewing and can see myself spending the time doing it when the time comes but wonder about cost effectiveness
Can you sew it together like this with the clip inserts even if you use wicking Jersey?
Hey this was great!! What kind of snap machine is that?
Is it possible to add an inner gusset to this pattern? I've got some with double gussets and I'd love to be able to make them the same.
Do you prewash your fabric for your soaker (sorry if I missed it in the video)? Where do you buy your fabric? We LOVE this diaper and I need more soakers!!

Thank you!!
One more question, I apologize if I missed it in the tutorial. Do you use the rolled elastic method in this video?
Thanks for the tutorial! The diaper came out so beautiful. Can you please tell me what types of fabric you perfer to use for each section of the diaper? I've had so many people tell me different things that I'm not sure what fabric to buy now.

I’m new to press studs. Is the socket the female and stud the male?
Correct!
Great tutorial!
Where did you get that gorgeous fabric? I need that in my life...
The shop shut down a couple years ago. It was called Konstant Krafters and they sold through Facebook.
Very thorough! How would I sew a fitted diaper using cotton velour and anti pill fleece as my inner layers? 🙏🏽 is it the same technique? I'm scared to mess up! 😭
Jeanniene Baker don't be scared! The method would be largely the same. Would you be hiding the anti pill fleece?
Rooska yes!
What I like to do for that is treat your outer layer and hidden anti pill fleece as ONE layer. You can baste them together, or glue them together with washable gluesticks, then just pretend they're one layer and sew it together the same way!
Love your video 💕what machine are you using?
What is the difference of this diaper then the The Happy Hippos Flawless Fit OS One Size Cloth Diaper? I am trying to decide what I need. I have a newborn grandbaby girl on the way. Thank you
The flawless is a trimmer fit. It’s better for skinny babies and newborns. For chubby babies, or older babies/toddlers, the flex is better.
@@Rooska awesome! Thank you. They recommended me to your youtube videos. Thank you.
I have this pattern and am trying to wrap my head around it! Did you use the Ai2 option and just make it wipeable with two layers of PUL? Or did you use the cover option and just add internal snaps for the insert to snap into?
This is essentially an Ai2 with PUL instead of some kind of stay-dry inner :)
PUL confuses me. Am I able to use an Iron on Laminate with quilting cotton instead?
No, cotton will wick at the legs and laminate will not withstand the type of laundering you need to do. What is it about PUL that leaves you confused?
Is a half of yard enough for my PUL?
18" will cut it really close! I usually advise against doing half yards. Try looking at places like Nature's Fabric to see if they do 20" cuts. Those are perfect!
Wait what size are the snaps? Including the one you did for the 3 or 4 layer insert?
All size 20! Many people like using long-prong snaps for these inserts, but I only use standard prong length. This insert is 3 layers.
would PUL mil 2 be better for soaker snap reinforcement layer or it wouldnt make much difference
That's a great question, actually. I've never considered that. It very well could be better for snap reinforcement in the area of the snap-in soaker. I've simply never tried it since I always have 1 mil on hand!
Is it necessary to use 2 layers? Or could you get away with one layer with snap reinforcements?
Two layers for reinforcement? Definitely. It doesn't need to be a full layer, but you need reinforcement for sure.
Thanks for this video. I was looking for a way to do elastics without making a tab for them. Is the blue table/floor you're showing the pattern on real wood that's stained or a laminate? Its beautiful
It's a vinyl backdrop!
Awesome information, thank you for being so thorough and open with your tutorial. Where do you find the decorative waterproof fabric?
Shaqeatta Jackson This fabric was from Konstant Krafters Fabric. You might also want to check Diaper Sewing Supplies. Great stuff!
Thanks
Please can you tell me what all the popper fastenings on the front of the diaper are for please?
Google cloth diaper rise snaps.
I bought this pattern and printed it and it printed it way to big. How to I make the pattern print smaller but correctly?
What is the difference between this pattern and the flawless fit OS one size?
Hi Rooska, I see this video is 6 years old but I would love to know the make and model of your scissors. Would appreciate your reply.
P.S this video was fantastic!
hey, thank you SO MUCH for this video ! I was afraid of doing it, bought the pattern one year ago, and finally went threw it ! so thank you so so so so much !

Thats kinda what I thought. I need to find some template plastic. Not easy to find in my part of Canada. :( Thank you :)
I've seen some people have decent luck with cheap cutting mats they find at their local grocery stores. It requires a little more work, but might be an option for you!
I bought the flawless fit pattern. Will this video help me? Thanks!
I sure hope so! The Happy Hippos Diaper group on Facebook is a tremendous help as well!
I cant find pul fabric anywhere, any suggestions for cute fabrics or can you make them yourself?
hushabye fabric, canadian fluff supply, Baby Bumblebee Designs, picklefroggies fabric, me sew cute fabrics, nature's fabric, that's just a few I can remember off the top of my head. Some are retail and some are preorder.

Hello, the link for your pattern was denied. How can I print out your pattern? Thanks!

Do you sell these? I do not have the equipment to make them.
What brand of snaps and snap press are you using?
KAM snaps forever!
Mam ur video is very useful but where do i get these diaper materials
shahetha sulthana Etsy for diaper patterns and for materials you can go to Joann’s or amazon
Where do you get your “seller” tag from?? Starting an Etsy shop so I will need them
what machine do you have to cut your insert like that
This is called a serger. Mine is a Babylock Imagine.
Well done! Thank you!!!
Do you have a free pattern?
Ok quick question. You mentioned you have like 140 yards of elastic...where do you buy that? Joanne and hobby lobby etc are so dang expensive...thanks!
Also, what machine do you use? It looks wonderful. I have an old machine that I got from my mom, but would like to invest in my own soon(ish). Thanks!
CTSUSA.com Love the 3/8" braided they have there!
Oh, and I have the Brother CS6000i. Cheap, but a TOTAL workhorse.
How do you get your serger to sew through 4 layers of heavyweight fabric? My serger didn't like it.
I never use more than 2-3 layers, thus when folded, I have 4-6 layers.
Where can I buy pattern for cloth diaper?
The link to the pattern is in the video description :)
can't find the pattern ,could u please send a different link
Way elastic do you use
What*
My elastic is one of my biggest secrets! I buy 3/8" polybraided elastic from CTSUSA.com
quick question your insert are they microfiber or bambou
I always use heavy organic bamboo fleece
What size and brand snaps you use ?
Kam Snaps, size 20
Rooska thank you
I bought this pattern just now, but when I go to my account it says that I have not purchased anything yet!!! I have the receipt and the charge has gone through my card!!!! What can I do??
Did you ever get the pattern that you bought??
I know this is an old video but where is the fabric from?
It's from Konstant Krafters. They've since gone out of business.
Where do you get your PUL?
How to take and draw the measurments in pattern paper
Super love that pattern. But, I have no extra money to buy :(
Is there a free pattern for this?
It is for sale on Etsy! I dont think this pattern is free
This video is great! I watched it all in one sitting and now I am going back as I make my first 2 diapers so I can read instructions/watch you do it. I MUST KNOW, what did you use to poke those PERFECT round circles on your paper pattern?!
It’s called a screw punch! It was sold by Martha Stewart Crafts, but I believe it’s been since discontinued.
❤❤
What sewing machine is this?
What fabrics do you use for the soaker? I bought the pattern and they came up amazing
Can you share the pattern I wanna get it printed as I cannot find it... I'll be thankful if you share it
shaikhjuveria muhammedarif the pattern is on Etsy look up happy hippos
The soaker fabric she used I believe she said is organic bamboo fleece
Is it cheaper to sew your own ?
@Sajiena Zuppe
Yes, it is Cheaper.
Hi Jill, if I'm sewing a Cozy Fit, can I do the same steps you did here?
More or less, yes! There are some minor changes.
What is the name of the green machine in the background for the snaps? What size snaps do you use?
What if you dont have a surger
For an insert? You can try a stepped t&t insert like so: prefold2fitted.blogspot.com/2012/11/
mention names of the cloths u use, cotton cloth etc
I don't use cloth because my kiddos are 8 and 10. Not sure what brands are "in" or "out" anymore!
What kind of sewing machine is that
My sewing machine is the Brother CS-6000i. It's a great workhorse.
😍😍😍
So let's say you find a fabric you like that is not PUL. Would you sew 3 layers? Fabric you like, PUL, and then the fleece?
Nadia Tovar yes! Look up “hidden PUL diapers” :)
A chopstick might work to push the corners.
Hello , I Love this Chanel, please subtitles Português.
Thank you
I found the front wings needed to be made wider to accommodate the topstitch without compromising the popper placement.
You should be topstitching BEFORE adding snaps.
it s so hard dificult 😥
It gets easier! I promise. I was TERRIBLE when I started. My diapers were unusable.
Зачем так много кнопок? ...🤦♀️
To adjust the size. размер
Nice job! 🥰
Yes, and I preface that in the very beginning...
What sewing machine is this?
I have a Brother CS6000i
