I was taught to always close my scissors before setting them down on a hard surface. If I show my good fabric scissors my love, they’ll stay nice and sharp and not get damaged. Thank you for this amazing tutorial!!!! This was very helpful!
You’re funny with the 505. I love that you had to stop yourself. I’m the same way. I’ll just talk and talk about something I really like. Thanks for the video.
Great video for a newbie! Very informative. BTW thanks for avoiding fancy, distracting finger nails. So much easier to stay focused on project. Thank you!!
Excellent all-around tutorial on serging curves! The tight camera work and the tip to "ignore the needles, push into the blade" are great. Pads are awesome for low-stakes practice runs on scrap material, too. Off to try several rounds. Thanks so much!
Wow! This is the best video I’ve watched so far for making reusable pads. Thank you so much for putting it together. I wanted to see about how to make those serged curves better and this was super helpful!
Me too! Gotta try that basting spray all the pad makers adore so much! Haha 😂 how did I live so long without it? 🤔 Definitely excited to try this stuff. It’s the small things in life.
Greetings from England. Great video thank you. Lived in Virginia twenty years ago and still miss the fabric shops particularly Piece Goods. Nothing like that here. 🙂🙂
Thanks so much for this video. I already have an extensive stash of turned and topstitched pads. However, I am fighting bladder cancer and with the treatments required I should not save the cloth pads beyond the treatment months. I just got a serger, so I can do this.
Thank you for making this tutorial!! So helpful and informative. I realize I need a few things to making my pads better. Can you put in description as to the fabrics you are using.
I really enjoyed and appreciate you posting this video. It was very informative and helpful. I love the fabric patterns you used and wondered where they were from?
Oh man, I don't even know anymore! I get them mostly from custom fabric groups on Facebook. I know the stars were from So Cheeky, and I had them hand dyed.
Great video. I tried to find the pattern but there are a ton of choices. Is there one pattern where you can buy multiple sizes? Still not sure what size pad I want use
Working on my first Happy Hippos curvy flare as well! Making the largest size for my impending postpartum. I REALLY hope it turns out well and I think I have my best chance at it because of your help. Did all the cutting and tracing today and will be serging tomorrow. I used some disposable clear cutting board roll I had and it worked like a charm! Such a smart idea. I decided to add an extra absorbent layer to my core so hopefully it turns out well! 😫 even if it doesn’t it will still hopefully be usable.
A great tutorial although I noticed the pins on the waterproof liner as well, not good for preventing possible leaks. Using your 505 will do the trick of holding in place or a strip of sticky tape will likely get you through.😊
PUL heals itself if you wash and dry on high heat. Just do it once, not all the time. Plus, blood is thicker than water so a pinhole isn't going ro hurt anything.
Do you know how else I can get the patterns? They are not on Etsy. Was there small sizes also. I would like to make these for my grand daughter’s for a first period kit.
Hello! I'm having trouble with a cloth pad I made. The top fabric is coton and it's not a quick absorbent. The trouble is that I made a mistake with the width of the pad and it's slightly tighter close to the wings so I'm having leaks from there. I hope I was clear enough,English is not my native language. What can I do? I thought of sewing an exposed core and sew some snaps and snap it on,hoping that it would absorb as it should. This pad came out really nice and I don't want to throw it away,it has PUL on the outside too. Other ideas, anyone? Please, help!
hello, i love the tutorial, the fabrics, the techniques. i just have a ?, the bledding part comes with your machine? and i live tu buy some fabrics too
I use cotton spandex/lyrcra for the cute fabric and Zorb or heavy bamboo fleece for absorbency. The backing is windpro fleece which can be hard to find/expensive.
I know it’s 3 years later but in case anyone is wondering… yes it’s possible but it can make the windpro less waterproof as you are adding holes to it.
Really cool pattern! I gotta say though, putting something that dark and ominous-ly printed near my lady bits freaks me out LOL! Are those ghosts, Monsters and a crying angel? 😱 How well would these work as postpartum pads?
The first one is villains from Doctor Who, and the one I work on in the video is from Big Hero 6. For Postpartum, post people tend to prefer using a PUL backer, and usually adding guessets.
Good thing you don’t have to eat anything I’m making in my atrocious machine! You can choose to not view this as often as you’d like! Have a happy & judgmental day 🙃
@@Rooska No seriously, please go and clean that machine. And start with your kitchen because your reply shows that you're a very dirty person even where you cook.

No promises it’ll stay that way! 😂 I love me some fancy nails!
You have the very best serged pad tutorial I've ever seen!!! Thank you very much. BJ

I usually hate listening to people talk on RUclips videos but you were great, entertaining, and super informative!
Great tutorial! Wish I'd have watched this BEFORE I butchered the first one I cut out...sigh. But, now I KNOW! Thank you so much!!!

very accurate serging! nice!
Thanks so much. I just purchased a serger and started to make pads. Your instructions are so clear... again TY
What a comprehensive tutorial!!
Very informative. Thanjs a lot❤❤❤
Great tutorial and your pad looks so clean and finished.
Best serger tutorial I’ve seen. Thankyou. Curves are hard.
Glad it helped
Thank you. I have been searching for an easy tutorial for an exposed core using a serger machine.
Glad I could help!
So many great serger tips. From a beginner, thank you! Definitely going to hit up Odif for some 505

would love to know what brand your hand press setter is... Enjoyed the tutorial. Informative yet concise.
I love your tutorials! And absolutely love your fabric print combos 😍🥰
You are awesome! Great instructions and love your voice! Thank you!! :-)
I'm late to the cloth pad party but this is such a great explanation of everything! I just got my serger and I'm so intimidated by it
Very nice and informative ‘how to’ video. So clean and the precision you have is amazing. I need to invest in a serger. Thank you! 🤗
I`m in uk and definitely use temporary adhesive like this, love it
Lovely tutorial, thank you

Hi! Was just in England earlier this year!
Awsome design on pads.

You got you self a new subbie. These are beautiful

awesome, really good information. Good job on your nails too, looking very nice.

Beautiful, thank you for taking the time share
LoL …505 ..hey when you believe in a product you use it and recommend it.
Love the way you shared your addiction for 505.
Thank you so much! Nicely done!

Where can I get wind pro fabric and what kind of serger is that .I would like to start making these. Thanks!!! Great work
Thank you so much for that tutorial!!!
2:33 please! Tell me where did you get that doctor who fabric!!! Is beautiful! 🥹
Only issue hun, pins punctured your waterproof layer. If pining use the pins on the outside of the pattern piece ❤️

Can you tell me what kind of fabrics are used for sewing?
What happens if the loopers hang off? Can it be fixed?
Really loved your video, I use serger for about 1 year and still have troubles to accommodate to it :)
What kind of plastic do you use for cutting out the pattern? And how to you cut it out? Thanks!
Why do you place two sockets on on 1 wing?
Where can you buy the plastic templates from please?
Do you know how else I can get the patterns? They are not on Etsy. Was there small sizes also. I would like to make these for my grand daughter’s for a first period kit.
I cut template plastic with an old pair of scissors without a problem. I find it easier than using a blade and a cutting mat.
Which serger are you using? The stitching is amazing. I’m trying to buy my first one but have no idea what to get.

Can Lycra be against the skin. I have no idea, I though I saw a cloth diaper video saying it can’t be.
Yes, it absolutely can go against the skin.
@@glitchbrosplay7990 perfect 👍 thank you 😊
i didnt hear the type of fabrics used. can you kindly share names and those patterns

I love 505 spray! 🙌🏼 Lol
Is 505 supposed to be white and silly spray like?
Rooska, could you still make this type of serge exposed core pad, by hand sewing if you don't have a sewing machine?
lovely tutorial :) Do you get your fabric from Spoonflower? I am definitely foing to make my next pad with the serger!
Not often, but occasionally! Mostly from Facebook custom fabric groups
Where do you get you’re fabric?
@Rooska is it also possible to serge first windpro and liner together then just sew the serged exposed core over it?
I know it’s 3 years later but in case anyone is wondering… yes it’s possible but it can make the windpro less waterproof as you are adding holes to it.
The mats are from dollar tree. 🙈🙈 great things to stock up on.
Where do you get the fabric?
Different Facebook groups :) There's tons out there!

505 is your friend. 🤤🤩🥴

A glue stick works if you don’t have 505
Why is your machine so dirty? Can't you just clean it up for the sake of public viewing? Its like being served a fillet mignon in a bussing tray.
