I bought ANOTHER Smart Car ... this time a 2011 Smart ForTwo Night Orange edition. One of only 235 ever made!
Why? Well because my Smart 450 is getting on in its life and the colour ... well I just fell in love with it.
In this video I Dad and I put the remaining finishing touches on the car including fitting the missing alternator belt cover, repairing the steering wheel trim and fitting some super rare Night Orange parts, thanks to the team at Listers Mercedes & Smart in Boston.

Excellent guys , its a very nice car you have done a good job ... and yeah put the original radio back 👌 ... One thing i ordered on the 450 , was the arm rest there rare on the 450 not many others out there ... but i think they are readily available for the 451 .. makes a difference and a nice addition 👌 maybe something to think about Jon 🙏

Not sure about the night orange logo on the back. But if it was me I’d put it on the opposite side using the sizes given to you for the MHD logo. A bit of balance and will look a little less diy

Ive never wanted a smart myself but after watching your videos ive now caught myself looking through various online marketplaces! Maybe Mr Hubnuts future headache will put me off again!

Well done Jon that night orange is looking amazing thanks you both of your efforts it’s the little things which make the difference and Listers have done well to secure those amazingly I use Listers in Worcester for VW and found them to be very good
The touches lift the interior so much and I would agree the original radio will look far better and complement the styling better as well
I would leave the night orange badge off the boot as Mercedes tend to put model on the side not on the boot but i know you would do it right! All the best Daniel

Looks great! It was knackered, but is now seems to be a decent solid car. That's a lot of work in a short time, and it looks like a thoroughly usable car for you. I reckon if you wanted to see it, it would be a modest profit. Ideal first car for a kid going to uni, commiting etc.
I totally agree if I'm honest! Something I'm going to be using as my new daily however 😁

Black Series badges are under the main designation, so I would take my inspiration from those. They might 'upset' your desire for balance, as they would start from the left side of the M and only go across most of the MHD.

My wife has enjoyed her 2013 pure birthday smart car for 3 days and now has a check engine light on......so, back it goes to Mercedes Austin.

I think the Night Orange badge should be on the other side of the tailgate level with the MHD badge,imho!

Have a look online where the BRABUS has its little decal on the rear, put it either there or top right corner.
Velour mats are rubbish, see if you can add a sturdier heal pad to go on top.
Heel pad is a good shout!
I bet that the MHD belt snapped and took the cover out and it's on the side of the road somewhere. They probably fitted a new belt and didn't realise it was missing. It's not uncommon, the belt usually takes out the oil pressure switch too but you can't get away with not refitting one of those.
That's not a Brabus steering wheel. They are thicker with perforated leather sections where your hands rest.
Yes from what I was told it did 'go' so that's handy to know it! Ah - see I'm learning from the Smart Master here now (we are big fans of the site!)

Enjoying the videos Jon. My parents have just bought al black 451 to tow behind their motorhome. Let me if you take the Android head unit out as may be interested in buying it off you if you sell it!
What head unit is in their car? Maybe a swap??
@@JonCoupland it's the original standard radio with the drawer underneath. Their car is a 2012.
The little plastic A-pillar triangle trims get a bit rattly on the 450 as well. I added a few small blobs of butyl rubber seal (the sticky, rubbery strip you get on a roll) so it sticks to the wing plastic when installed, but can still be peeled off with a small amount of force. I vote for no on the extra badge on the tailgate, less is more 😁
