@@nickm5978 that isn't true at all for both the modern incarnation as well as the traditional style (why would someone design something that's potentially dangerous in the first place?)
while I don't know exactly about this car, it's obvious that it's a fully electronically operated selector and the computer wouldn't allow anything that could damage the car. and chances are very high that it's still double secured by the user being required to press and hold an additional "unlock" button like it's the case with every other automatic "gear" selector as well.
now for the "traditional" variant: it wasn't possible to change anything like it's possible with a conventional wiper stalk, or something. you needed to reach around behind the level, pull it towards you (with built-in resistance) and only then it was possible to move it up or down to change the driving mode. so, simply hitting it (it's reclined much [!] further back than the stalks you're actually supposed to reach and operate from the steering wheel) won't do or cause anything.

(making you need the entire hand and not just the flick of a finger.)
it's physically so far reclined that it's difficult (if not impossible) to actually reach from the steering wheel (it's not intended to be operated while also grabbing the steering wheel.)
and lastly: even if you'd still forcefully try to do this, the computer wouldn't accept this input.
I can precisely tell you from my own experience with one of my classic cars with no fancy computer control at all what happens when you forcefully select reverse while driving: the engine gets overwhelmed and stalls. that's about it. nothing more. the car then glides along (remember, you got a torque converter sitting between the engine and the gear box [instead of a clutch.] this means, that there's no stiff physical connection [okay, you've a locking function nowadays on modern cars, but let's not complete things too much] between the engine and the wheels. so, when the wheels cause the gearbox to spin against the crankshaft, then this is actually possible due to the fluid inside the torque converter.)

Excellent review as usual thanks Matt.
I must admit that I do NOT LIKE all touch screen controls, but if you really can undertake all commands by voice, RELIABLY! that is even easier.
I am interested that you prefer single pedal driving and also that nearly every EV review I see on YT gets LESS mileage than the manufacturers quote. You must all be driving in 'divers boots'!
    I have a 21 reg eNiro 4+ (10,000 miles to date)
It's quoted range by Kia is 282 miles on a fully charged 64Kw battery.
I am a 'Hypermiler', just for fun. I keep up to all speed limits applicable to the roads on which I am driving, so no slouch.
When I charge the car to 100% on my home 7.4Kw charger the car tells me it has sucked in 316miles. If, however. I add the miles covered to the miles still available I am running currently at 330 miles! (Suck that up Mr Musk!) My mKw run consistently between 4.9 -5.2.
I achieve this by ALWAYS driving with NO REGEN. I coast everywhere I can and use the column paddles to brake the car to a complete halt whenever possible. Sometimes I do have to brake if the space available is not sufficient for the regen retardation.
I would be interest to see the results you could get by driving in this fashion.
