Until you drive a Panamera it's hard to describe just how good the experience really is, i drive a 2015 GTS and grin every time i turn the key. i have not experienced the turbo yet but i can tell you the sound and feel of the normally aspirated 4.8 has not grown old.
Really enjoy your reviews.
The night track segment was nice, I don't see the problem with doing more as long as the track is well lit. I might not be the kind of person that would buy a Panamera, but I did take my 2002 Lexus ES300 on a track. I didn't go very fast and the car only lasted 2 laps, still fun though.
Motorman, I love you, man! You do the best, most fun reviews on the RUclips’s! Never leave! Great videos on this car. I currently have a 2018 718 GTS but I think when my lease is up on it, unless the 992 is the best thing ever, the Panamera GTS, is my next ride! I like the entry height of the trunk on the sport turismo, for things like strollers but I really like the spoiler and overall look of the rear on the standard Panamera. Provided I can afford one in 1.5 years, it’ll be a tough choice. Thanks for both the tech and the driving reviews, you’re the best, man! I also want to add that the green on this car looks great but that Carmine red........wow!
so, u go 992 or a pan GTS??
MotoMan,Most of what has been said....has been said.!V8 is the way forward...!The GTS is a stellar piece...The Turbo is the next level for those who actually know. The 4.8 Turbo (First gen) proves this theory. As always...You delivery the goods.Great reviews..!
Shout out from the dude you bumped into on your flight over from dxb! Great episode and keep em coming! :)
Great video review as always. Ultimate Dadmobile especially in green... reminds me of the "Green Machine" way back when I was a kid.
Great video moto...when you're in the rarified air of the big Porsches you have to step up to the gts sport all the way. I enjoy your videos not from a new buyer perspective, but as the person 4 years down the road buying off lease.. The panamera is the one car that truly resembles a cockpit when your behind the wheel. Looks amazing..
Another great video. Thanks.
Love the night track footage!
Thanks for the cool review
Great Video and content as always. I appreciate you asking question at the end to get our standpoint/thoughts. I'm interested in your thoughts not just on Std vs GTS vs Turbo of the Panamera's but what about the new BMW M5. If YOU had to choose a four seater which of those four would it be? and why?
I am based in the UK, and take delivery of a 2020 Panamera GTS Turismo Sport, tomorrow (13/08/2021) which I feel is the best Panamera Model. The turbo & turbo S are not really useable for everyday, but the GTS is the sweet spot in the range.
Hi MotoMan - Question regarding Porsche just not the panamera. If you were buying a cayenne would you opt for the hybrid or the S model seeing as you've been discussing fuel economy? Can't decide which one to go with? Thanks would love to hear your opinion!
I’ve just got a v6 Panamera and it’s great - but having previously had a v8 f type - I do agree v8 is the way forward - and I found no difference in fuel economy between the two engines. So damn it - now I’m already trying to find another body part to sell so I can get the GTS !!! Great reviews by the way !!
Sport Turismo GTS, hands down, not even close. Eastern US. Now, I'm going back to the Porsche site to hunt CPO prior gen GTS Panameras. Don't wait up.
Welcome to Bahrain
Love from Saudi Arabia
I'm a fan of how Porsche improved the rear tail lights and exterior. Cabin looks pretty darn good too
Sport Turismo all day! The world needs more shooting brakes. And it's such a sleeper. Love it. South Africa
I'm in Canada. I would buy the GTS over the base car. If I were buying a used one I would buy the turbo. Currently I have a 16 GT4 and an 18 RS5. Great review, thank you.
Night track is sick! Do the m850i soon!
bro you should be the most famous youtuber out there you content is just amazing you r underrated if I had power I definitely make u the post popular content creator along side with mr jww
I miss Montreal style donairs and shawarma. :}
Love that green colour but they really need something else than black interiors.
Sport turismo in that green with the most power avalibile... night track stuff is great and still would be even if darker
Is that horn noise everywhere over there?
reviewers never mention: sound symposer is in the pan GTS. not the pan Turbo or any of the other pans. straight from the 911. it makes for a phenomenal driving experience, brings real soul inside the cabin. this vehicle is fantastic
Except it sounds like poo on the outside because of the not-so-wonderful particulate filter. The previous gen pan GTS sounds better.
MotoMan, you compared a GTS to the Turbo. I own a 2018 4S that is slightly lighter in weight and power so I have a hard time justifying paying $18,000 more when you figure in the standard features. I would like to see how you compare these two models.
The wagon looks really good
best part of the video...the 951!!
beside the hp, everything about this car is perfect
G'day mate, love the videos as always!
However if I'm being a tad picky the background music was a little overpowering at times (mostly at the start).
I watch your videos all the time and think they are great. I am going to buy a Panamera. I am unsure whether to get a turbo or gts. Did I gather from watching you liked the gts better? I had a 2018 911 turboS and traded it for a 2019 911 4gts. The 911 4gts is so much more engaging to me. Is this the same for the Panamera?
if you ask the dealerships theyll tell u the GTS is more fun to drive, pdk is programmed differently and this is the only Panamera with a sound symposer. can also grt a GTS then have the ecu modified if really set on higher hp. you get one yet?
I bought it, and I will be going to a local track on the upcoming Porsche Club day. I can't wait to really stretch its legs.
The first generation Panamera GTS made almost identical power. Do the turbos make it that much more efficient? I’m sure Porsche can get 450 horsepower out of a 4.0 liter V8 without the need for turbocharging.
I bought a 2018 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, and it's wonderful, for MUCH less than the cost of the GTS... It has 462 hp and 512 lb-ft of torque. It would make no sense to me to get a GTS, given how great the power output is in the E-Hybrid from zero to over 100 mph. And, I can go 5-6 weeks (generally 1000-2000 miles) without filling up on gas when only driving locally -- a great way to experience all-electric driving without the range anxiety of a full BEV. So while I didn't buy the Panamera expressly to go to gas stations a lot less, it was one of the many factors that went into my choosing a Panamera. And, here in the US you get $6700 federal tax credit for the E-Hybrid, plus we get $1500 extra in state rebate for a PHEV. So you're starting at $33k less in MSRP (before options) cheaper in a Pan4 E-Hybrid than a Pan GTS, and you get more hp and more torque. And you get to experience electric driving, and you get to stay away from gas stations much more. And you get the great aspects of Panamera. Priceless.
cba tiau all great points. I was between the hybrid and GTS and this week pulled the trigger on the GTS. It’s a half second faster 0-60 and the sound of that V8 is sooo good. Plus when I optioned out both of them with the same options the hybrid was only $10k less. The GTS packages are pretty sweet. I also have a BMW 530e and it gets the carpool sticker in California whereas the Panamera hybrid doesn’t qualify.
I want to get the Panamera and really want the v8 but the price jump is so much that you really feel the burn . . However I've decided I'll rather wait and get the turbo than settle for the v6 engine . . After all its all about the driving experience and would hate to be in my car and regret not paying extra later
If I had the GTS and access to a nice track I’d definitely take it out and put some laps under my belt with the car.
The wagon looks so much better than the hatchback. It no longer looks like a limousine 911. :P
7:50 raw chicken
PSTGTS all day long! We need manual wagons!
Silver Sport Turismo Panamera GTS with Black Wheels .. ship it to Bahrain pls 🇧🇭
The Sport Turismo gave the Panamera a new lease on life. It looks soooo much better than the saloon of old. I just hope Porsche offers it up in The States for real. I would take it in a heart beat as my daily driver.
the Panamera GTS just looks a thousand times more aggressive than the Panamera Turbo. i examined both pretty damn hard and was sold on the looks of the GTS. more fun to drive as well- pdk programming is different on the GTS and only the GTS has the sound symposer from the 911 piping in sounds from the engine. not to mention, for about 3 grand one can easily get an ECU tune and get horsepower and torque ABOVE that of the Pan Turbo.
Twin turbo ? Is it better than the original V8 panamera GTS ?
Soundwise the prev na v8 is much more angrier
I have the 16 Pan GTS and I don't think I would trade it for the new one. There is something special about a naturally aspirated V8, no particulate filter, and a PDK transmission working in unison. I doubt we'll ever see a naturally aspirated V8 in the Porsche lineup again which makes it very difficult to give up.
I would do the Sport Turismo Turbo used 2 years for the price of a new 4!
Of course, the Panamera GTS is an amazing car, almost every Porsche is, but the GTS is an oddity to my mind, for one simple reason; the HUGE price jump from the S, for not much more power. Yes, I know you're getting 2 more cylinders, but what are they doing for you? Porsche has detuned the GTS's V8 to the point where that massive price jump from the S seem excessive. If I was in the market for a Panamera and just had to have a V8, I'd just go ahead and pay the extra $20k for the proper turbo model and be done with it. It's likely that anyone who can afford the $135k GTS can't probably also afford the $155k turbo. Once you get to that price level, I'm not sure why anyone would accept the handicapped GTS engine to save $20 grand....well, unless they plan to have it professionally tuned to unlock the power Porsche locked.
GTS has a lots of performance options included that are not standard on the S.
A car so heavy you want a v8 no question. Don't buy new. These tank in value... wait 1-3 years and buy one 50% off. Not many around because honestly no one buys Panamera...those that do often regret and trade up for a 911, leaving someone else a nice cheap CPO car.
In 3 year time GTS will have 70-80 % value of a new. And also do you honestly think that guned down 2nd hand from dealers will be in mint condition. All of those cars will be mostly test leftovers like these ones in video.
One more thing to add, BMW/Audi/Mercedes loses value over time but Porsche dont. In Europe now price for the brand new 911 S is 120K in Euro. 1-2 years old GTS ( same hp ) is minimum 130-140 K.
I guess markets are different. In US they depreciate and sell pretty cheap (just like any sports sedan). Last time I recall seeing numbers for every 2 911's sold, only 1 panamera did (and 911's are rare and low market cap as it is). Even a 911 will lose 20-30% off MSRP the first year. Saying 3 year old panamera has 70-80% value is false for US market.
Nick Eckemoff , that is in US but here in EU - Germany not. Car sales are strong and climbing , for example you can buy used 1-2 year old RS6 for 70-80 K Euros now but new was over 140!!. But Porsche no. It holds value strong. Especialy 911. Mass produced cars loses value but ones with a image and quality no. Here you can buy a slot in production for special models like GT3 / GT2 and hit double numbers in sales because people want to have car almost in a second after it is unvieled.
No you won’t find a used for 50% off lmao what are you smoking
this GTS actually will walk away from any naturally aspirated 991 gen 911. the torque down low is phenomenal. even my GT3 has trouble keeping up with this
That would be my configuration (german configurator); what do you think? Porsche-Code; "PKF1GWT8" Turbo in AUT would be a 25k premium, not worth the extra 95hp...
IM MORE impressed with his MOM JEANS
Must have the V8. I love the Gran Tourismo but own the other.
Mmmmmm shawarma ... Insert a gif of Homer Simpson drooling here! I'd love me some good ol' shawarma right now.
Can you believe that Brussels tried to bad this type of shawarma a year or so ago? What kind of nonsense is that??!!
Welcome to the Gulf, M! Speed cameras are everywhere. I dislike them as much as the next car guy, but they are a necessary evil here. Speeding is the leading cause of death in the Gulf. It pains me to say this, but we need more draconian speeding laws ... Think Virginia level.
As for the rain, it rarely rains around here, M. Sometimes we go 3-4 years or more without a single drop! I'm not sure about Bahrain, but we next door had the most amount of rain in 33 years & it overwhelmed the sewer systems, cold be the same in Bahrain. The rain gods (Zeus?) must've been happy with your visit & blessed us . . . :)
Love the track nighttime driving. Speaking of the Bahrain track, they host track days & among the regular visitors a Singer & a frickin McLaren F1!!!!
I completely agree with everything you said about the V8s.
I don't think anyone shopping for a new vehicle over 80k cash really cares about MPG.
I'll pick the ST over the standard body, too bad they don't make a GTS of the Executive lwb, the longer wheel base makes the design look better. But I digress, I'll have a GTS in Carmine Red over a tan leather interior with wood inlays, a black Alcantara headliner & a nice set of HREs.
Re The Goodbye greeting, M, if you're the one saying it first, its As-salāmu ʿAlaykum. If you're replying to someone who said it to you, it's Wa ʿAlaykumu S-salām.
As always, Excellent work, M!
That's gonna be the Panamera to piss off owners of the other Panny variants. GTS packages always do that.
.....where to drive, Phillip Island and no lifting through Doohan corner....
I did flat out in my x1/9, but in my 928S4, I chicken out at 190kph on street tyres
almost 5000 lbs. is not 2025 kilos. sorry, comment at 8:47 incorrect.
I personally wouldn't track a sedan. I believe they aren't for that purpose.
I own a 2014 GTS WITH 440HP can't believe porsche only bumped it 13hp to 453hp ....you'd think it would have 500hp in 5years..not worth another $135k for 13hp and new exterior/interior design...
But you are forgetting this car is twin turbo charged and makes 457 lbs/ft or torque from 1,800-4,500 rpm. It will crush the older GTS at any speed
@@jays9211 Sure, but the previous GTS sounds better and the power delivery from the naturally aspirated engine is more engaging. The new one is great, but they really should of kept it naturally aspirated.
Bought GTS Sedan in 2019. Sport Turismo looks beautiful as well. Either is a perfect daily driver versatile car. V8 is the way to go. One of the best sounding turbo V8 in the market. Great video MM!!
I don’t how much horsepower under the hood we still drive speed limit anyway so what’s left to look for when you buy a car if not a best design? This car exterior look the same boring since 1990
@Just think Not everyone lives in major cities or areas with high traffic.
Had a Panamera 4S on order, changed it to a GTS Sport Turismo the week it was announced. No brainer.
Matt Evans, do you know when it will arrive? Getting ready to turn my 2016 gts in and don’t really want the 4S. Not sure if I want to wait???
@@jesse1441 I've been told April or later for mine (in the UK)
Matt Evans, I assume it will be even longer hear in the states. The dealers hear still have 2018 4S units still just arriving. Going to go with the 4S, but would love the gts model.
@@jesse1441 Not necessarily, they would be making more LHD than RHD units I think. 4S is still a nice car
This with a tune could possibly be faster than the Turbo. Hmmm...
Good freaking luck. It's likely got an up rated version of the V6's DCT (it does not share the turbo's transmission). While it has the same everything engine wise as the Turbo (turbos are the same size, internals the same). That trans will likely not handle a super high tune (500-600hp) for very long.
So, almost as much horsepower as a $53k stock base-level Corvette with a normally aspirated engine?
@Waldmeister Spock Not sure what the number of seats has to do with it, but okay. Has less power than a NA V8 Mustang or Camaro or Dodge Charger, all of which have 4 seats and all available in the $40k range. I would expect more out of Porsche and especially for the price. Cadillac, Nissan and Alfa Romeo have twin turbo V6 engines in the 400-500hp range.
@@kayoedowner6711 To say you would never pay more than $20k for an American car is absurd. Your bias has clearly clouded your judgment.
@@kayoedowner6711 "Build quality" of German cars is also grossly overvalued. Every single person I have known who has had a German car has regretted it and vowed they would never own another one. Constant problems with electrical and transmission issues. These would include the VW Golf R, BMW X5, and two GTI owners. In addition my parents had an Audi A6. It was a nice car but they sank a small fortune into it and it quickly became worth less than the cost to fix and they gave it away.
@@kayoedowner6711I agree. I have owned 2 Porsche 911's and 981 Cayman GTS. Chevrolet or Ford is not even on my radar when shopping for a performance car. Two entirely different categories IMO. I do think the Camaro Zl1 LE is quite a track day car along with the GT 350, but it's so hard to beat the all around performance, quality, handling and superb build of a 911 or any Porsche for that matter. But hey, to each his own and freedom of choice is great.
@@kayoedowner6711 All the cars I mentioned were bought/leased brand new. The Top 20 most reliable cars of the decade are Japanese. www.cheatsheet.com/money-career/most-reliable-cars-decade-according-consumer-reports.html/ That may change in the next decade as Korean cars are coming on strong and American cars have made massive improvements. Perhaps there will be some European cars, we shall see.
