There is actually a room you can get in the maze at the last part of the game (you don't need to go there to finish the game) where you meet that old man you will kill in the end to finish the game, anyway he tell you your all quest was actually a lie and he was in league the elder that send you in order to collect the gems so he could take over the world or something along those lines.

Oh my goodness, I LOVE this game! Mind you, it's most certainly nostalgia goggles, but I was so excited to see you review it. I still have my copy from the nineties!
The art pulled me in, and the environments/characters felt much harsher than the KQ games I grew up with, which made it feel somehow more real, to me, and less like I was watching fantasy tropes play out on screen. Just several worlds of jerks and Quickthorpe bumbling incapably through it all.
I even liked the story, convoluted as it was. Definitely a Roger Wilco moment of somehow getting caught up in schemes and histories much more complex than his own.
Anyhow, I'll stop rambling about loving this game, which is undoubtedly brimming with flaws, but thanks again for another great review!

I hate people who have cats but let them run free to ruin other people's property. If I had a dog but let him run outside to shit in other people's yards and vegetable gardens, if you woke up to see dog paw prints and scratches from their nails on your car every morning, if you found dog hair and fleas on your patio/deck/balcony furniture from a dog that wasn't your's, not to mention the territory marking piss you would find everywhere, would that be okay?
Why can't people who decide to take responsibility for an animal, I don't know, actually take responsibility for an animal?
When I walk my dog I actually carry a bottle of water just in case she pees on someone's yard, I'll try to make her pee at home but if it happens in someone else's yard as I'm walking her I'll use the water to wash as much of it down. If she poops in a yard, I'll try so that absolutely doesn't happen, but if it does happen I carry bags so I can pick all of it up and throw it away in my garbage.
And sometimes doing things the right way actually takes less effort to do than to do them the wrong way, yet, it seems I see people go OUT OF THEIR WAY to do things the wrong way.
I don't know, whatever. I'm out of coffee.

floating around YT for some time highlighting all the YTP moments (kinda disappointed though you didn't mention the gator-lady coming on to our hero about his "short shorts" wanting to play him to sleep with her bongos LOL WTF!?). I really like the artwork too, backgrounds are beautifully rendered, just seemed like a bunch of puzzle pieces that don't fit, that's why to me it felt like it wasn't trying to be more like Discworld then Kings Quest with Monkey Island humor. I wonder if this was the product of a troubled development cycle? Could explain why it's so abrupt in places, not just the ending confrontation, some ideas not fully realized? Anyway, great video. Now I'm wondering if one day you'll explore the Kyrandia series by Westwood.

I don't see much on it in terms of reviews or anything, really. This game wasn't very good, but it still had some things worth noticing. It had really nicely drawn landscapes with very light coloring that gives the whole game a very lighthearted atmosphere. The raunchy humor also hints that it might have been intended to be a parody of both Lucasarts and Sierra. The problem, besides the buggy UI, may have been that it was extremely rushed, to the point that several plot details and seemingly important characters are completely overlooked. With enough lore and more depth behind the characters and the world the story takes place in, Fable could have been a classic.

I recently discovered your channel and I love it! You do an excellent job with your reviews and editing; can't wait until I have a few hours to myself, so I can peruse your catalog! I'm opening a channel soon myself and considering adventure game reviews...

Yes ! You’ve made another excellent reciew of one of my childhood’s favorite (yes, I used that word -.-‘) point & click’ers. Awesome !
Thank you so much. I still have the case it came in. Looks like a big book
I’d love to see a review of ‘Realms of the Haunting’ - a creepy a$$ game from back in the day, that’ll haunt you for quite some time

I hope you didn’t take my comment as a negative shot fired at you. It was in no way intended to, I’m just thrilled you’ve made a review of a game from my childhood :-)

I had a physical copy of this one, back in the day. It really caught my eye in the store, the art looked so pretty in the back of the box, and it turned to be a real stinker. It was really dissapointing, and I never finished it.

I remember playing this as a kid and really enjoying it. Of course, I loved adventure games back then (still do, wish it was as big a genre as it was back in the day) so I'd play just about anything if it was point and click. I remember spending hours (or possibly minutes) futzing around with Putt-Putt and Freddi Fish just to get my fix. Ah, memories...

The main character kinda looks like Arthur from that Disney Sword in the Stone movie.

Also, I kinda want to hear that bug shreek more often... it can fit for way too many scenarios

I absolutely remember this game fro my childhood. During that phase i played adventure games almost exclusively with walkthroughs, because i was a stupid teenager that had no idea how to think.
ButI do remember it fondly. Although that may be because there were scantily clad buxxom babes around and that was just what teenage me wanted to see in a game...
Also the ending was very weird. in the version i played (german) Quickthorpe sits on a spaceship-seat and puts on some kind of mind-transfer-helmet. it's implied his brain is then pumped full of knowledge, leaving him to be locked up in a psych ward.
    Fun times!

Ooh I still have this, loved it as a kid! The art and setting were fantastic and the dark and sarcastic themes were cool. I guess the actual gameplay was kinda whatever, but still loved it as a kid

Just writing to say I love your content, point and click is my favorite genre since I was a kid , my first one was Sam and max hit the road, I've played most of the games in the genre and I really like to hear you talking about them

Oh! I remember playing this although I wasn't aware that there was an edit where the ending was concerned. We had the UK version when I was a kid and honestly that part confused me the most. Getting all the way through it only to get a 'hey you were crazy all along' was so disappointing as a kid.

Yeah that seemed pretty awful with - from the sounds of it - no kind of build up or reasoning, just "mwahaha, what a twist!" Though the US one sounded sort of silly, too. Reminds me of the ending of Resident Evil 4. Great game, but god the ending.

    • @pushinguproses
      @pushinguproses  7 лет назад +13

The interesting part is that I probably would love a darker ending like that if there were SOME kind of build up. Better foreshadowing (not sure there's really ANY besides me speculating on a few quips), just something that would make you go "Ooohhhh, NOW it all makes sense." I thought the UK ending, though out of left field, was one of the most interesting things about it in a way, hah.

That spider shriek really belongs in a part 2 of your video talking about sounds in video games. It’s just so superb. The sign waggling sound as well deserves a spot up there. Too damn good. They’re just so nostalgic. Of what exactly? Fucked if I know.
