  • How to get rid of frizzy hair starts with hair moisture. Frizzy hair is fixed by first understanding how to moisturize curly hair then knowing how to not cause any excess frizz during the styling process etc. This video will teach you the common reasons curly hair lacks moisture as well as why it gets frizzy AND how to combat those concerns! Curly hair has less moisture because of the shape, the color, using the wrong shampoo as well as other causes. So let's talk about why theses things happen and simple ways you can address them!

    Not that you’ll see this comment, since this video was made months ago, but JUST found you and subscribed after yet another stylist cut my curly hair way too short for me. Love your comments about not manipulating the hair to avoid frizz, unfortunately, I’m a Jeep girl who has the doors and top off her Jeep all summer clearly frizz is unavoidable for me, and I’m a little scared what really short curls will look like as we come upon topless season for the Jeep 😂😂. Love your curly hair content. So many stylists don’t have a clue what to do with it. Hair styling is an art itself, but good curly hair styling? That just makes you a magician!

    Thanks again for another awesome video! Love your work, mister! Yeahhhh... curly hair can be a curse! You have to be soooo careful witih what you do and how you do it... but it can be sooo beautiful too. I've struggled with my curly hair all my life, and, of course, like many others, started straightening it at an early age. But I found the Curly Girl movement about 2 years ago, and have been experimenting with it, and a heap of different products ever since. And it's been cathartic... I realised that letting the straightening go and learning to love my curly hair has been one of the last bastions I've had to break down to truly learning to love and value myself, as strange as that seems. I enjoy my wash days and experimenting with new products, and I feel weird if I don't go through my whole wash day rigmarole! Thanks heaps again for this great vid and your awesome tips... love you, Justin! xxoo

    I have been fighting my curly, frizzy hair for decades by blow drying it straight with a round brush - that lasted 5 minutes before it turned to curly frizz! But recently a family member during my Covid-neglected and lengthened hair convinced me to embrace my curly hair. The problem is I had no idea how to treat or style curly hair. No one had ever taught me how to treat or style curly hair which is totally different from what I’ve done to get that smooth/straight look. This video has helped me tremendously and I honestly never knew just how curly my hair really is. The product advice as well as drying process is one thing but not running my fingers and/or comb through it was foreign to me but turns out to be a no-brainer. Love your videos and appreciate your expertise.

      Same! My daughter and nine year old granddaughter both said they like my hair curly. They think it’s softer and younger than my straightened bob and/or flip. So I’m trying to embrace my curls! Great curly hair video! I have fine, 3c hair and find that Ouidad Featherweight Styling Cream really defines my curls and keeps frizz to a minimum without weighting it down. I’ve hated my hair curly and always blown it out straight (profile pic) but this product is a game changer! Living in hot, humid SW FL I’m trying to embrace my curls… hard to do at 74 and wearing it straight 99.9% of the time! Also, to get more volume at the top and avoid triangle hair I lift the roots on the crown and spray Bumble and Bumble Dryspun Texture Spray. It really helps volumize the top.

    Thank you for your insights. Any thoughts re: 3C curly hair dryness and frizz from outdoor activities i.e. bike riding or running? After these activities I typically wet down the more dry frizzy sections with water and sometimes add leave-in conditioners. But those efforts seem to make those sections even worse and problematic which is terribly frustrating. Could using only water to reset the curly/remove the frizz make my hair drier and worsen the problem? I've tried products i.e. Ouidad Climate Control Restore spray but these products used on already dry hair tend to leave my hair sticky and still very dry not solving the underlying parched hair issue. Thank you for your feedback.

    Oh man I missed this earlier. So had to catch my “Hair tips Tuesday “ . Okay you schooled me on 3 tips to turn my curls from crazy to amazing, Got question. Does pulling my hair up in my head wet cause issues. Normally in pony. Scunchie, or clip. Sometime I do it with curling spray on it. Side not still wet like 7 hours later sometimes if left up. Thank you for the curly hair videos

    • @justinhickox
      @justinhickox  3 года назад +2

      Thank you! Glad I could help. Great question, pulling your hair up when it’s wet will definitely affected, the bigger question is hell and if that’s a good or bad thing for you. Depending on how you pull it up, it may get less curl at the roots if there’s too much tension. You may or may not like that as it could decrease volume at the roots. On the other hand, it may increase volume in some areas at the roots but this is all dependent on how it’s pulled back. There are a lot of very small through Boles to take into consideration. As a larger umbrella answer, it won’t affect it to dramatically but will play some impact on how it dries. Not sure if that helps at all! LOL.

    • @selmaharwel368
      @selmaharwel368 3 года назад

      @@justinhickox that answers it. Lol I normally never pull root area. Well unless doing pony tail. Normally it is dry spray in curl freeze spray and just toss head over and piles it on top scunching to get clip on it. Hot mess look. Honestly most days I just shake my head fix a curl here or there spay with hairspray ( I live in Texas so humidity is factor) and rock my crazy curls. Lol

    • @tessltaekook8501
      @tessltaekook8501 3 года назад +3

      Quit all silicones in all products if you're not doing that already, that way your hair will get access to the nutrients and conditioning agents in the products. Get rid of all products containing silicones so that you won't be able to use them. If you're new to this you have to wash out all build up silicone first with a deep cleaning shampoo and do it at least twice to get it all out. Then you use a deep conditioner and massage it in and let it stay for like half an hour and then rinse out and repeat if nessesairy. When it's still wet you apply a big amount of leave in conditioner or haircream (not containing silicone) on the length and scrunch it in and leave it to dry. If you want more of a "curly girl" effect you can add a mousse or gel that won't dry out your hair (check the ingredients) and scrunch it in too. Then every time you have to wash your hair, only put shampoo on the scalp and not on the rest of the hair and then use conditioner. Put conditioner on your scalp too, it might help with the oilyness because your scalp might overproduce oils to compensate if it's dry in reality. It helpt me at least, I had oily scalp and don't anymore as long as I keep putting conditioner on my scalp. I have to massage it in to eliminate that. It's just common sense really, you wouldn't wash your face and not put on moisturiser afterwards, would you? The scalp is skin too but people tend to not understand that, and shampoos strip it from all oils, making it produce more oils to compensate. If you want a list of all chemicals to avoid for curly hair you can check curly girl website. It gets easier after a while when you know what to look for. Sorry if you know all this already, I just wanted to help a little🥺

      I think it is normal that the texture can change through life. I have had all, straight, wavy and curly hair. Curly when I was very little, straight when I was like 10, 11. Wavy when I was 15, 16. Curly and wavy from 23 on. Now I am over 50 and it is wavy and sometimes curly.
