I feel it doesn't look "bad" to us is because most of us have lived with frizzy hair and didn't know it. At least for me, I thought type 4 hair simply grew that way until I learned about hair types, proper hair care and everything in between (I'm Type 4 btw).
I always thought this! I’d love to see a curl transformation from damaged hair to this! I’d volunteer 😂 it can be a BTS process from beginning video, middle, end!
Happy #texturetuesday everyone! I love this video because not only is my seester teaching us all how to understand the root cause of our “unhealthy” frizz + how to treat it, but she also teaches us to embrace our natural frizz because well.... IT IS ONLY NATURAL!!! ❤️😍
To a degree some frizz is ok. But mine...my oh my. Even after washing an looking at my wet hair in the shower is still a ratty mess before I even get to styling.
I’ve been so hard on myself about the wet frizz I usually get when styling , it wasn’t a lot but I thought I was doing something wrong every time , so hearing that it’s normal and to embrace them instead means a lot coming from you❤️ Happy texture Tuesday ! So happy y’all convinced me to start my journey❤️
This comment truly made me so happy❤️. In the past I too have been so negative about frizz in general but it's not all bad! I'm glad i could clear this up and explain the differences in types of frizz, how to solve it and ultimately help you embrace the beauty of your frizz. Thank you so much for watching, until next week xoxo
I was so worried because they always say “if it’s frizzy while it’s wet it would be frizzy when it’s dry” and every single time I was so hard on myself and went crazy when styling 😂
I’m super hard on myself on my frizz. I get tons of compliments all the time and I say to myself “please don’t look at this one section” not realizing that they can’t even notice that one section. Thanks for the self-esteem boost!
I’ve always struggled and had insecurities with my hair since I was a little kid. I was so amazed and envious by how beautiful everyone’s hair look like as well as how healthy they looked. I’ve wanted to become a hair stylist for years but I always felt so insecure and discouraged by how my hair isn’t healthy nor I did not even know where or how to start. Ever since I found your RUclips channel I became obsessed and changed my hair 180° by watching almost every video you posted! I have improved my hair so much and thanks to you and your seester Amanda you guys gave me the confidence and the courage to decide on going to a hair school next year. This may not be a big deal but honestly I wouldn’t have been so confident and feel so amazing if it weren’t for you two. I learned so much about my hair and learning more day by day makes me just fall in love with hair even more knowing that my curls can turn out to be healthy like yours and I truly appreciate it for all the videos and the effort you put in these videos! You’re my hero and forever will love your videos❤️ I hope that soon one day when I do peoples hairs and give them tips on how to help out their hair that they see results and learn more about their own individual hair just like the amazing Mel!!! Thanks again and I wish you and your sister gains more subscribers because you are honestly so underrated you deserve the best and more ❤️🥺

Thanks Mell! I just had this conversation with my hair stylist a few weeks ago. I told her how I loved her hair and how tamed her frizz was compared to mine, and she told me that she was JUST complaining about her own frizz to her co-worker. We are our own harshest critics for sure 😊
You're such a genuine girl with such a bubbly personality that I guarantee that I could be cured of my depression just by living with you a whole week. Thank you for making me smile today, I needed it so much.
@@ManesByMell thank you for this video, I too just started on my journey. Unfortunately, just had my hair cut and the stylist although she advised as curly hair specialist did not give me the right cut. My hair is super short now and just looks like a big puff. My hair is normally very very thick and can get puffy. How do you recommend I thin out my hair, I have been reading that thinning shears shouldn't be used.
Love the moment where I’m like wow her hair looks amazing and then she mentions it’s 2:07am... the best hair days are the ones where no one sees you in person and then you go to sleep. Who can relate?
Also, I would like to see a video on acceptable protective styles for the work place. Winter is coming and I want to keep my hair tucked away and need ideas besides the typical braid and bun.

Adding Olaplex to my next sephora order! Thank you for all of your time and effort you put into teaching us how to care for our curls. Since I've adapted my haircare routine to specifically high porosity needs, it has really taken on such a life of it's own and I absolutely LOVE it now. I spent decades not knowing why things I was trying weren't working for me like they were for other people. Turns out, I was mostly using products best suited for low porosity instead and every thing I gained from one would basically just cancel out another. Now that you've educated "why" to use "what" and "when", it's been a total game changer!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! It's a very frustrating thing at times, having curly hair. Thank you so much!!
Honestly, this video was SO helpful. I stress over the wet frizz and try to correct and it just ends up looking horrible or overworked when dry. AND now I know what to look for and prevent properly - THANK YOU 🙌
I really appreciate this video! I’ve been concerned that I’ve had some frizz even fresh out of the shower so it’s nice to know that some wet frizz is normal☺️
New Sub here! I have decided to embrace my natural curly hair. Watching your videos has given me the "push" and "knowledge" to give it a go! Thank you Mell. You are amazing. ✂️➿☺️
Thank you for this! I struggle with frizz in the back of the head a lot. Can you also do a video on gels? Which gel with hard hold is good for fine hair, etc. You ladies rock!!!! 😁✌🏼
I have fine hair and I prefer mousse! The tgin honey mousse is great for moisture ok-ish for hold and the John Frieda mousse is great for hold but isn’t CGM friendly. Hope this helps 😊
Your hair is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. I don’t get how you have such patience when it’s in your face and on your neck and weighing down your head loooool. I get impatient within two seconds ahahah
I had straight hair as a kid until 5th grade. Got it cut to my shoulders in layers and it curled right up. I cried and cried. I have always hated my hair! I used a straightener on it all through school. For years I have washed everyday, every other day. I would go to bed with my hair wet wake up looking so crazy. Frizz not really any curls just a hot mess. I use to always wet my hair in morning to style. I was never taught a good way to take care of or style curly hair because no one in my family had crazy curly hair like mine. Since I found your RUclips channel I have learned so much about my hair and it's helped ALOT. My hair looks and feels so much better!! Thank you!!
I needed this so much Mell! Next wash day I’m going to look at my hair product free so I can diagnose the problem. I already know the top is the bad frizz and probably needs strengthening treatments.
My favorite hair speciaIist! I watched the video twice. Always so entertaining, full of excellent content and very well made. We love you, Mell and Amanda. ✌🏼
So many videos out there for curly hair, your videos are my favorite. Not only have I learned to love and bring out out my curls (which I relaxed for years) but I love the personality. So sweet and funny. Keep up the videos. 😊❤️
You have no idea how obsessed I am with your videos. I just had a bayalage and the girl messed up my curls 😭😭😭 it is so damaged now that I didn't know what to do but watching your videos is giving me hope. Thanks!! ❤
I mean, I almost cried of relief. My wet frizz is ridiculous, and I’ve only found one video that addressed wet frizz specifically. My finished hair is good though. Working on getting it back to great, thanks to you! Why can’t I rake product into my hair and manipulate the hairs like so many others? My curls break up, get stringy and even more frizzy. If I rake, I ended up having the wooooorst hair day. Thanks for all the education!
You are hilarious and gorgeous. Thank you for your detailed guidance. After highlighting my hair, the highlighted portions barely even look wavy anymore, whereas the regrowth underneath looks luscious and curly. I was going to give up on highlights, but now I have hope. Thank you!
That was the clue that led to me admitting I had wavy hair. Many of my hair's are my mostly straight. Some are actual curls that, well, curl and are springy and everything. So if I just air dry, brush, and attempt to wear my heart "straight" in the PNW I just get weird springy bits all over and frizz galore. The routine I just mentioned worked just fine when I lived in a desert though.
would also like to know! even when wet, i get within/between curl frizz thats these thicker, tight corkscrew/zig zag curls when the rest of my head is just wavy. would like to know if thats indicative of solvable damage or inevitable hormonal changes 😩
I'm latina and black. My hair texture is fine(very similar to yours), but the curl pattern is a little tighter. I got very useful tips from this video. As a matter of fact this gave me a little motivation to get back to my hair. I've been washing/detangling and throwing it in a bun for months now. Thanks!
The bloopers 😂😂 I’m dying!! That’s like after a certain time you start getting tired but like a burst of energy because your so tired 😂😂 Love the whole video but the bloopers are what really made it lol
Another great video with very helpful information! I think all of us with curly hair can appreciate the reminder to not be so hard on ourselves about frizz. Thanks for spreading the love!
Love your videos! I'm definitely going to try those products! Sounds strange, but it's nice to know there are other girls out there finger coiling for 45 minutes after a shower- haha. My whole family has straight hair (even my twin) so I spent most of my life styling my hair so incorrectly. Curly hair is truly a lifestyle that I had to learn! Thanks for everything Mel
I'm 15 and since my 7 years old I straight my hair so now I decided to stop and take care of my natural curls. But now my hair is so frizzy and I lost a big part of my curls, my hair is a complete mess, curly, wavy, straight... crazy! And when it dries it gains so much volume, and its puffy and I really don't like, so I just grab an elastic and tie up my hair in a bun... and when I release it... total disaster!!! I've been looking for videos to help me but I never found it until now! I think this video and your channel in particular can help me and my baby curly hair come back again! So I thank you soooo much! I'm gonna grab my computer now and do the quiz! I'm excited ❤️❤️ lots of Love Ps: love your curls such a perfection 😍😍😍
Loving this video so much! It has made me realize I definitely need a hair cut, but I love my long hair. My hair is very fine and I get fairy knots very easily after day one. Any suggestions to help with those? Also, I love working out, but I do get sweaty and this impacts my frizz levels. Any suggestions to help with that would be great! Thanks so much!
I get so frustrated with my frizz but I'm trying to not be so hard on myself. I tried to take the quiz but it just kept coming up with error messages so that was disappointing. Mell you have made such a big difference to mine and my twin seesters curly hair! You have helped us repair so much damage and get back to our healthy hair! Thank you!
Could you please do affordable curly hair products video? 😬I can't afford the Aveda or Curl Smith ones, I've seen your other comparison videos but I'd love a list of affordable drugstore ones if possible ❤
@Miss since this video was more than 2 years ago, she may not have seen the comment. She DOES respond if tbe comment comes shortly after she releases a new video. Mel has given us all so many valuable tips, please cut her some slack. :)
Thank you for becoming hair specialist... I doubt chances as a lead singer to become world-famous would be as good to be honest... Love your videos though and I always admire how easy you make wash day and styling look. Thanks a lot for all your advices. Stay healthy.
Literally just bought olaplex today and then I watch this video and its talking about olaplex, was tempted to buy the 0 but I was already getting the shampoo and conditioner and the number 3 and then a leave in conditioner..I'll buy it next time though!
Thank you for this video. I’ve been struggling with frizz recently and wondering about how to fix it because I have watched a ton of videos that mention frizz in the past year. So this was perfect timing for this video. I also appreciate seeing your hair product free as it helped clarify frizz. I get some ideas of people telling but I understand better with examples so thank you.
I’m definitely going to add Olaplex #0 to my routine! I’m struggling a little with shampoos and conditioners right now and was wondering if you had any recommendations? I have treatments for when my hair needs this or that but I never know what a good all around everyday (but not really everyday lol) shampoo and conditioner would be. I would LOVE to request a top favorites from you and Amanda! 🖤
Maria B I’m so sorry you’ve been struggling too. 😞 I feel like I’m wasting so much money on products that don’t work, I should have just bought the expensive stuff to begin with 😭
I second this! I’ve been trying out the verb ghost line but the conditioner isn’t exactly what my hair needs so I’m still looking! Following this in case they reply! 💞
Hadas Bernstein Im with you, the Ghost line was lightweight and I loved the conditioner but the shampoo wasn’t for me. It cleansed well but left me feeling “squeeky” clean and I didn’t love it.
Maria B I hope yours lasts until you’re able to find one that’s great in the winter. It’s always so hard- as soon as we find the right products, the weather gets us 😭
You explain these products and ingredients so well. You are pretty, your hair is beautiful and you’re fun to watch. I love that you try multiple products and do 2-4 day wear tests too. TYVM
I love the Kerastase elixir! It smells so great. I've always struggled with leave-in conditioners because they always felt too heavy for my waves. I've tried reducing the quantity, but it's as if it overloads my hair (especially if I apply curl cream and gel) Any tips? Or any brand that is light?
Hey Mel thanks so much for this I just went curly about two weeks ago and am really struggling to get my hair it's between 2c and 3a and I've got some products but I still get some frizzy but it's so flat and straight at some parts and some curls are 3b underneath and then some are 2c it's so odd you are providing me with hope just subbed today thanks for being awesome
I actually really like your hair when it is frizzy. I'm starting to appreciate frizz all together. Am I crazy? x-) I think as long as hair is hydrated and healthy, a little frizz only adds to the unique texture. What do you think? Love your stuff, by the way! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
I just found your channel and I am obsessed with you! You are hilarious, helpful, and ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. I’ve been on my curly hair journey for 5 years now, and I have fine 3b/3c curls and am now realizing all the mistakes I made by weighing down my hair with so much product! I always hated how I couldn’t get the volume I want. I’ve learned so much from watching a couple of your videos so I want to thank you and wish you lots of health and happiness ☺️ Also your Valentine’s Day hairstyles video is my favorite and I am so glad I found it because I had no idea how to make buns and ponytails work for me. Keep on doing God’s work baybayyy.

Hello Gena, I love your videos as well!
Frizz doesn't look that bad on type 3 or type 4 curls. It looks the worst when you have wavy or a mix of wavy and curly.
Yes! Mine is more like Roseanne Rosanna Danna's.
When I saw Mel's, my first thought if only my hair looked that 'bad' on a bad day.
I agree 😔
right i agree, type 3 or 4 is still nice , my hair is a mix of wavy and curly and its so bad frizzy
I feel it doesn't look "bad" to us is because most of us have lived with frizzy hair and didn't know it. At least for me, I thought type 4 hair simply grew that way until I learned about hair types, proper hair care and everything in between (I'm Type 4 btw).
I recently discovered my hair is type 4 after years if 3bc hair after I did a big chop

My mane girl mell ❤❤ I happy to tell you that I finally found my perfect routine works for me
Thanks to educate me about my hair ❤❤😩
this makes me so happy to hear i am incredibly proud 😩
Neha Mala Sen, Thanks! I have the John Frieda mousse and I really like it but I would like to try something with a little more hold.
Bonnie Emile maybe try the mousse gel mousse technique?
Neha Mala Sen, Gel and Mousse is a good combo! Thanks for your input!
By the way, I saw the TGIN Mousse is on sale at Ulta, if you want to restock. 👍🏼
your natural hair color looks so good on you.
Thank you!!
At first, I was like: Stainless steel treatment?! What's that! 🤣
Timely! I was just searching videos on "curly frizzy hair" and Mell comes through!
I have to deal with frizz EVERY SINGLE DAY. Thaaank yoou💛
Nice hair
So many videos out there for curly hair, your videos are my favorite. Not only have I learned to love and bring out out my curls (which I relaxed for years) but I love the personality. So sweet and funny. Keep up the videos. 😊❤️
That sad moment when you're Moroccan, but you can't afford that Moroccan oil 😭
Considering having it sent over from the bled!
Just buy argan oil it’s a lot cheaper
I love Moroccan oil!!! I can't stand John Frieda Frizz-ease serum or Aussie Miracle curls serum. It's expensive af though.
well then DO NOT look up the price of the kerastase serum!
@@spannycat2 I like John Frieda on my hair
You have no idea how obsessed I am with your videos. I just had a bayalage and the girl messed up my curls 😭😭😭 it is so damaged now that I didn't know what to do but watching your videos is giving me hope. Thanks!! ❤
Omg you sang “YOU NAMEEE IT!” ❤️
I will definitely take the quiz. I can never get my curly hair to behave like I want it to. It has a mind of its own. It is my symbiont.
This is why I always try to save my wash day for Tuesday 😊
i love forgetting that it’s texture tuesday and then your videos making my day 😍
I mean, I almost cried of relief.
Jenable1 same here. Ugh.
You are hilarious and gorgeous. Thank you for your detailed guidance. After highlighting my hair, the highlighted portions barely even look wavy anymore, whereas the regrowth underneath looks luscious and curly. I was going to give up on highlights, but now I have hope. Thank you!
I am pretty sure the Sephora quiz is going to tell me that only Manes by Mell can help you! 😉 Just love Texture Tuesdays! ❤️
I think you look great with the frizzy hair as well!!!
Hey mel you’re so amazing!!! Question: is frizz that looks like a much tighter curl pattern normal?
Great question!!
I get a lot around my face!
Thanks!
The is so perfectly timed it's actually spooky
Texture Tuesday is the best day out of the week!
The bloopers 😂😂 I’m dying!! That’s like after a certain time you start getting tired but like a burst of energy because your so tired 😂😂
Love the whole video but the bloopers are what really made it lol
You were born for what you do! Thank you!
I would also love to see the finger cooling method done on 2a/2b hair.... wondering if it will work!?!?
Another great video with very helpful information! I think all of us with curly hair can appreciate the reminder to not be so hard on ourselves about frizz. Thanks for spreading the love!
Oh I forgot it's texture Tuesday but It's a pleasant surprise ❤️😂
PLEASANT SURPRISE INDEED! Thanks for being here!!
that *SKIN* omg !!! flawless
I just finished finger coiling! And it took me yes 45 mins lol. I also have a twin and her hair is more like 2b and mine is 3b/3c. 😆😆
I would love to see an updated winter routine for your wavy cousins as well as for yourself and Amanda!
13:25 great mini tutorial Fixing a frizzy patch
I'm excited ❤️❤️ lots of Love
Ps: love your curls such a perfection 😍😍😍
Loving this video so much! It has made me realize I definitely need a hair cut, but I love my long hair. My hair is very fine and I get fairy knots very easily after day one. Any suggestions to help with those? Also, I love working out, but I do get sweaty and this impacts my frizz levels. Any suggestions to help with that would be great! Thanks so much!
Brush it.
No then she do'nt react. Typical😂 it's all about promoting that brand
Swavy Curly Courtney has a video @drugstore products that might help you.
Everytime I see you have uploaded a new video I get so happy 🥺
THANK YOU MELL FOR THIS WEEKS VIDEO! 🧡 I needed to fix my HAGRID situation...I was literally about to go to the salon to chop my blonde off 😅
I feel you. I'm call my hair Hagrid hair too 🤦♀️😩
Thank you so much!! You have changed my natural curl life!
Loving these tips and can’t wait to try and tame my frizz 🥰
Also, Mell that lipstick shade looks magical, please share what you used if you see this 🥺
You are my hair savior! Thank you for all your advice and being here for us curly girls♥️
I'm honoured, I'm truly here because i love being able to help
Hey Mel thanks so much for this I just went curly about two weeks ago and am really struggling to get my hair it's between 2c and 3a and I've got some products but I still get some frizzy but it's so flat and straight at some parts and some curls are 3b underneath and then some are 2c it's so odd you are providing me with hope just subbed today thanks for being awesome
And here I was using leave in conditioner every day. I’m learning new things!
