      Hi I’m a male with long wavy hair that goes below my chest it feels and looks healthy however I do notice their tends to be a lot of single hairs that don’t lock on to my “wavy locks” and they end up looking like flyaways or frizz would you know if that’s due to my hair being dry or is that normal for people like me and you that have natural curly/wavy hair your help would be much appreciated and love the video.

      Thanks for including the explanation of pH! When I've been struggling to find/replace a good conditioner I've used just shampoo then an oil instead of conditioner - never realised that could cause pH balance issues, nor that an a vinegar rinse could help temporarily balance that.

    Tip I learned from my curly hair stylist: if you see that webbing, ADD MORE WATER and a little conditioner and work that through your hair until the water is soaked in. The hair should be heavy, then rinse all the conditioner out and immediately start adding your products while soaked. This has changed my hair so much, basically I learned that conditioner is only meant to be a catalyst to allow your hair to soak in more water

    • @The_Delaney_Show
      @The_Delaney_Show Год назад

      @@khasimali9352 honestly, I’m still trying to figure it out 2 years later lol. My biggest tips are to use a silk bonnet to sleep (regardless of your hair texture) and to never to go bed without drying your hair. Air drying isn’t preferable, as the extra moisture/humidity in the air is what causes your hair to frizz up. Even if you don’t use heat tools (I rarely do), make sure your scalp is completely dry before you sleep! I like to run the blow dryer on low heat over my scalp for a few minutes after I shower and usually let the rest air dry. use a thinner oil that can penetrate your hair, (google is your best friend for this), and apply the oil AFTER using your normal detangling/leave in conditioners while it’s still wet. using it after my products seals all of the moisture in, and leaves my hair super shiny and not frizzy at all. hair porosity is basically just helping explain how each hair types maintain moisture differently. the definitions still confuse me but the main point of hair porosity is to help determine which order of product application works best for your hair. at least this is what I have come to discover in my experience

    Thanks for getting this knowledge out there. For someone who lives in a country where few people have curly hair it's a damn nightmare trying to look after my daughter's hair. We have little access to products outside of people who have straight average porosity hair. Not to mention there being no one (that I've found yet) that knows their business about curly hair though they all claim to. The last salon I took my kid to had no clue what porosity even was, so when my kid's very high porosity hair dried so quickly she freaked out. I tried to explain about her hair but she just waved me off like I was speaking gibberish (she claimed there was no such thing as sulfate free hair 0_0). Again, I can't stress how helpful your videos are, thank you kindly.

I have coarse low porosity hair and protein is not my friend most of the time. If you do have fine hair I would incorporate a protein in your routine. Also, larger sized proteins like hydrolyzed soy, wheat etc, are better for fine hair. Keratin, and anything that says amino acids, or silk protein are smaller sized proteins that work better for coarse hair if/when it needs it. It has a nammmmeeeee?!? So I’ve been trimming my ends unnecessarily b/c despite not seeing split ends I always assumed it was damaged 🤦🏾‍♀️ I also bleach and dye my hair so the very ends are high porosity where as the rest is low porosity 🥴 but it still curls normally so I’m not sure if it’s damaged 🤔

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  4 года назад +13

      Haha yes!
      Yours sounds similar to mine. My hair is medium porosity at the root and high porosity at the ends. I think that’s common for porosity to increase towards the end. Bleach does cause the cuticle lift though which is damaging.

    Now i understand why my hair would get like this when i was “following the rules” and using 3+ steps/products and cold water only to end up feeling like i needed to cleanse my hair constantly- its because my hair is low/medium porosity so everything just built up
    Thanks for being honest and clear about this

    Thank you ma’am!! I have been dealing with my frizzy, extra thick, knotty, curly hair for almost 58 years now. I’ve had a multitude of different hairstyles. I’ve tried a multitude of different hair products. I’ve always had them dad-gum curly-ques sticking out all over my head mainly on the top. Now, I’m not one to put my personal business out there but I’ve got a terminal illness and I’m not looking for sympathy prayers, I’ll take. I’m just saying that your videos have been very helpful and informative. I’m on a lot of medication that has damaged my already dry hair. Believe it or not I have gotten it to grow back ( THANK YOU LORD ) it is now to the top of my belt! I told my husband that I would never cut it off however it is falling out gradually.😞

    I've had some good luck reducing wet frizz by just continually adding more water while I S2C in the shower.
    ...add some product (like conditioner or a leave-in) but a lot of water...since my head is upside down, I just put it under the water for a few seconds (and squish it a bit). Then as it rinses out, get out of the water and re-add some more conditioner then more water (and more squish)...and just keep doing it several times. Sometimes I just take the conditioner and rub it on each curl clump individually (I only have a few so that only takes a minute).
    And, when I do the final step (applying my mousse), I try not to really squish it too hard, but more like pushing the ends to the top of my head - but not making a "grabbing" motion.
    It just takes practice I think, but I've had great success lately with the *keep adding more water* philosophy.
    Also, over-moisturizing can cause frizz and s2c adds a lot of moisture. Try getting a conditioner with hydrolized protein or hydrolyzed quinoa. I just bought Giovanni deep moisture conditioner; it's great! It made my hair sooo shiny :) it has just a bit of protein in it. I even use a tiny bit extra as a leave-in because it's nice and lightweight. They have leave-ins too, but I just use the one.

    I don't know if any curlies out there have this same issue, but I noticed I get flashdrying if I use gel containing *aloe* *vera* ! Its weird, bc my hair seems to react to aloe vera as if its a protein, even tho it isn't. So, I made sure to first apply a good amount of (protein-free) leave-in and to also be lighter handed with the gel. That did the trick- no more flashdrying!😊💜

    About two months ago I used for the second time a deep conditioned w three different proteins. As soon as I applied a new gel I’ve never tried I got flash drying. For two weeks after that I dealt w major wet frizz. You’re so right about the amount of info about it. Flash drying too. After a lot of research and trying that new gel a month later w great results I assumed it was too much protein (or it was the hydrolyzed oat instead of the amino acids I usually use) on my low porosity hair. Thanks for the great info. It’s nice to know I was on the right track.

You confirmed something in another video that I suspected but that he was very skeptical of, which was that product buildup was likely preventing moisture from getting into my hair and that what it actually needs is a deep cleanse. I'm gonna go for it later today and see if I can bring some life back into my hair. 😊

I have always wanted curly hair like yours and lately I’ve been having an issue with accepting my waves because I’ve always dreamed of your hair, the hair damage and me trying to plop my hair, use creams, use serums, curly hair products, and I can never get it! Thank you for leading out there with this issue. My hair is likely (in curl type) the most like yours I've ever seen on RUclips. I know I have various porosoties on my head. The back or crown of my hair is the driest and frizziest on my hair... also the highest porosity. It virtually looks dry under flowing water, it's soaking it up and letting go so fast it took a super slow down mode on camera to see it. It would suck up drops and let it go as fast as it sucked it up... I've never seen such a thing. Of course this has to be on MY head! The rest of my hair is normal porosity. So it's a real challenge to wash, condition and style my hair! The only cause we've been able to come up with for this is hormonal imbalance. I'm currently going through the "change" and so it's not altogether shocking it's happening but in a very obvious area of hair it's so frustrating, I have to treat the section of hair totally different than the rest of my hair, like I have two sets of hair on one head. I admit, it's hard... really hard not to have "the heck with this" days and just put it all up in a chompy for the rest of my life. I hope people will learn of this webbing and wet frizz syndrome and gain some success from your video. Again... thank you! Smiles and blessings...

    So much info Gena! It was great. I will say that because my hair is so super fine and wispy, I need regular protein to give it 'structure', but just not large amounts. I make sure that I get protein in every
    wash day and weekly in a mask. I think the my hair is closed cuticle, especially the top half, but even so, due to it's fineness, I need a bit of protein.
