This was a great video! Love you both! I will take some of these tips for my almost 50 year old head, but also for my son. He tries to style his longer hair, but he has a lot of heavy hair that doesn't do exactly what he wants and probably uses too much product (cue "Steve" from Stranger Things - that's my son's hair goal!). Maybe he needs to blow dry it into a C shape and use mousse? Do you ever do men's hair tutorials, Justin?
I totally agree!! It was so much fun and you gave such solid info! I’m sure this will help a ton of ladies! Looking forward to the next creator trip!!!
Angie you are awesome but you are in a hair rut and you need a new do something like Justin’s wife. I have noticed the longer your hair is getting it seems to be dragging you down and making you look older like I said you just need a hair makeover.
@@cindystewart121 I think Angie's hair looks very scraggly and unflattering in this video. I never watch her anymore because she is overly obsessed with looking younger, spends too much money, is a shopaholic, and constantly tries to get money from her subs by pushing products.
I’m a functional nutritionist and use blood work with all my clients, you don’t want to suggest people taking iron if they don’t need it, it’s highly oxidative and most of the time the body is sequestering their iron due to an infection/inflammation or digestive issue. Low iron is rarely the problem it’s that we can’t use the iron we’re consuming.
Actually many Dr will say that low iron or/and low vitD is often the problem when it comes to women and hair or fatigue. I have seen many Dermatologists say that, and the few Dr I have had over the years told me the same thing (I am prone to anemia due to health reasons so I have been followedfor a while for this...). Heme iron (iron "reserved") is only found in red meat and seafood and more and more women highly reduced their red meat consumption or turn vegan. Plus if you have heavy periods that makes things worse for iron, if you work out a lot that also make things worse for iron. For vit D if you're obese that make things worse and if you have dark skin and do not live in a heavy sunny area that make things worse as well. And obviously eating a crappy diet overall also makes things worse. Most women combine many of those things without knowing it could cause problems. But as you said no matter what you should get a blood test first to make sure and to know how much supplements you need when needed, because too much iron or vitD is not good at all and can cause many health problems. Plus stress can also be the only reason for hair loss that can't be fixed by any supplements or medecine and obviously other health issues can also cause iron deficiency and this has to be found out with a Dr.
Good genes play a huge role. My niece always gives me the best advice on hair treatments. She had beautiful hair growing up, but it got damaged from coloring and bleaching. Once she started taking care of it, her hair became gorgeous again. She thinks the treatments work for everyone, but really, her hair is just returning to its natural state.
Be careful with the iron supplementation. Make sure you are deficient, because many women who are post-menopausal actually have too much iron and it can be very dangerous. Donating blood regularly is the way to control it if you have this issue.
My thyroid gland was removed in 2012 and I've had hair thinning weight gain and in general overall low energy. Doctors have changed my meds every year. Nothing has helped much.
Great video, Justin and Angie! At 61, I've had many cycles of hair thinning. Just a note of caution on Minoxidil...many years ago I used the 2% Rogaine for a while and ended up going to a cardiologist for bad heart palpitations. Turned out the Minoxidil was lowering my already low blood pressure and creating my heart issues. Thanks for all the tips and tricks!
Wow I was using 5% for years with good results and quit 2 months ago because it discolors my hair and feels awful. Hair started thinning immediately. Will see if it changes occasional heart palpitations I attributed to caffeine
I was losing my hair severely on top in my late 50s. Started using womens Rogaine 2 times a day without fail and got more hair than I’d had in my 20s. Took about 6 months to know if it was working. Did that for 10 years, then switched to men’s Rogaine, Amazon Kirkland brand. I use it after I wash it then put products in and dry and style and there’s no trace it’s there. If I put it in dry hair with products in my hair it’s a greasy mess. It’s been working perfectly for me for more than 15 years.
Honestly sharing though, what were all your negative side effects when you were using women's 2percent ? Please share so we know & learn from someone that experienced actual topical both 2& later 5 percent. I've heard after some time the 2 seems to stop working n a person has to go up to 5..or you can begin with 5,but what bad things did you and do you still see, feel, notice as the onset from using monoxidil ( 4 life now) thanks a million 🥰 we appreciate your truth & help
@@Ginsuegirl the only down side to using womens is you have to use it twice a day. For me both men’s and women’s worked perfectly. I like the men’s simply because it’s a once a day use. About a year ago I got slack about using every day and noticed my hair was thinning too much. So started making sure not to miss more than a day or two a week and it all came back. I will never be able to stop using. But that’s OK. Whatever it takes to have hair that I’m not embarrased about. There have been no physical or otherwise side affects. None. And no difference in the way any brand or strength works. If used as directed. It’s been a life saver for me. Changed my life forever.
I had a knee replacement in 2021 and I lost so much hair and I hit menopause 4 months later. I lost so much hair. My Dermatologist said it would take 2 years to get it fully back and she was correct. One note about Biotin is that it can affect troponin for heart tests. It can give a false result. Because I have AFIB I choose not to take it. Great video. ❤
Thyroid issues have thinned my hair plus I was in a toxic marriage for a long time. I have been out of that marriage but worked in a stressful job for 35 years. Health Care is so stressful no matter what. You can work with the best people and it is still stressful.
Thyroid issues connected to your stress. I can confirm from personal experience the same. Working on cultivating joy and peace in my life is healing my thyroid. All the best 💐.
If you look up “Do women over 50 need to take an iron supplement” they say that at menopause a women’s need for supplemental iron dramatically decreases.
Yes-because iron is lost through menstruation. Without menstruation, supplements could cause elevated iron levels, which is not good, and can lead to heart conditions and diabetes.
@@kathismith791yes, as we don’t have blood loss we don’t need it generally , we mustn’t mess around with iron - always get your levels checked first and get any recommended supplement dosage advice from your GP - iron in pills is harsh on the stomach and can cause nausea - I don’t eat red meats so I prefer to get my iron from steamed spinach (more bioavailable than raw) and cashews and chicken etc
I’m 62 years old and have endured very low iron levels all my life. Even after menopause I still have low iron levels. After much investigation I’m just one of those people who can’t absorb iron well…. I do question if I have leaky gut?
'You don't feel like you anymore' Bingo! That is why we keep trying more things to look good. It's not just about pretty, it's about still feeling like ourselves.
That was me three days ago. I don't even look like myself. I suffer from depression I went from wearing makeup and styling my hair every day to not looking in the mirror.
Love this collaboration! Losing hair is very hard mentally. I suffered but I was able, thanks to God, to reverse it big time. Red light will do little to nothing for 99.9% of people. We have super aggressive hair loss in our family, both of my sisters got their hair super thin by age 50, so thin that they couldn't leave the house without Toppik, and even that looked awkward at some point because barely any hair was there to hold the fibers. I started experiencing thinning at the age of 33. I tried iRestore for 9 months, but it didn't work. Then I tried Hairmax and of course... it did not work. I then tried Minoxidil. At first, my hair started to shed like crazy. I understood it's normal and that these hairs would be replaced with stronger ones afterwards, so I kept going. It was the case, and my hair became thicker, but even after 1.5 years, it was still very thin overall, although not as bad as in the beginning. My colleague at work mentioned that her mother used Minoxidil but combined it with microneedling. She swore that it made her hair so thick and places with bald spots filled in after few months. I had nothing to lose and gave it a chance. I strongly believe that hair loss is related to blood circulation (unless you have a vitamin deficiency), which, in turn, due to low supply, leads to hair loss. I used a derma roller + Minoxidil and kept losing hair. Once I switched to a high-quality pen, within two months, my shedding stopped, and my hair started to get thicker by month 4 with a lot of new growth. I have followed this protocol for 5 years and haven't lost ground. One of my sisters followed the same protocol, and she also gained her hair back. If it works for me, it should work for everyone (or at least most people). Save your money and do not waste it on red light machines, vitamins, and other stuff that will just make a hole in your pocket.
How fast did it work? Did you see results within 3 months-6 months? Thicker and longer hair within a year perhaps? I have fine hair and want it to be thicker, stronger like I used to have.
I’m with Angie, I am 67 years old and not ready to go grey. I love my blonde hair. Angie keep your hair, it’s beautiful!! What a great collaboration with you two! Love Justin, he was the very first You Tuber Channel I started watching over a year ago. I was looking to go short. Thanks guys!🙋♀️😊💕🇨🇦
I stumbled upon these videos and have been watching a few that looking interesting. I did want to make a comment on this one. 12 years ago when I lost all my hair to chemo. I absolutely hated being bald. Like other women I also lost my eye lashes and I could not stand looking at myself in the mirror. I hated seeing all the beautiful hair commercials when I had the tv on. H.A.T.E.D. It took me five years for my hair to grow back to 'normal'. I do care about my hair and how I look, but I also always remember those days 12 years ago. I try never to forget how I felt and how others probably feel eveyday. I think finding a stylist who can help you get the most with what you have is the best solution. I also stay away from the vapid beauty vlogs and all that are completely superficial. I appreciate the approach here. Thank you
Love Angie’s more scientific approach- had found Justin last year- soooo great to see my favourites colab-ing! What an excellent idea Lisa(BK Beauty) so awesome
What a great down to earth conversation! Angie is so easy to listen to and so relatable. Glad to see she too has the issue of leaving the salon looking great and then can’t get the style at home. Plus the same issues with tools. Love ya Angie! And thanks Justin for explaining those tools, among other things. Love you too !😊
Such great content! My hair suffered greatly during menopause that was immediate onset due to a radical hysterectomy …that paired with the estrogen suppressant drug Tamoxifen I took for FIVE YEARS for breast cancer… my hair was HORRIBLE! Thin…brittle…falling out…it’s never been the same. Though it started growing again, the texture - though fine - is coarse and wiry. As you both discussed there are so many factors in how our hair responds to stressors. . Great video….ive been a longtime fan of Angie and recently found you Justin in my search for information on cuts appropriate for thin fine hair. Win win!!
Thank you so much! I'm so sorry to hear you had to deal with that! The texture change you're experiencing is very common I find. I also find it typically, over time, will go back to a more normal texture for your hair. Thanks for the support on the channel! I appreciate it a ton!
@@justinhickox Thank you…and BTW…I have an appt with a new stylist tomorrow…I’m chopping off about 8” of stringy length of my hair that is doing nothing good for me; I’ve sent her the video of the Lob you gave Dionna….Ill let you know how it turns out! Away with the damage and hello to a fresh new style 😎
I wash my hair every other day. The night before I dermaroll my scalp at the temples and then apply the Kirkland brand 5% minoxidil. It works great. For reference I am 67 and you would never know I had thinning temples now. I'm sure however this is a regimen that always has to be continued. But woth it. Great video.
You are fine. I have been using it every night, and i wash my hair twice a week. It does not build up. I also have an irestore and I do no believe prior minoxidal application is any better. Also i prefer the liqued over the foam.
great video. New to your channel and watched many. This is my favorite. I am mid 60's aging thinning hair. I do use finasteride with minoxidil as well as oral spironolactone. Hair texture is drier but no shedding. Love the idea of the laser headband. My haircutter wants to keep my hair mid length blunt cut all one length. I had allot of fine hair. After covid...lost allot but also my new doctor ran a test, subclinical hyperthyroidism and low b levels. I now take thyroid med and using iodine with multi mega b. Big difference but only 3 months. . My hair is like yours Justin...different lengths due to minoxidil. Thanks so much for this video.I hope my hair grows all together.
Great video. I’m glad you said to get blood levels checked. Vitamins and supplements are not one size fits all and too much can be as bad as not enough.
I did some girl math…vitamins, potions and lotions vs a one time purchase. $600 3 years ago..so it has cost $200 a year at this point. High priced vitamins like like viviscal and Vegamor are abt 80 a month. (I do use collagen powder daily tho. Hoping it’s helping hair, skin and joints.)
I love Angie and have watched her for years! I am new to your channel but immediately subscribed once I saw this! I am 45 but just stepped into the professional cosmetology world. Love love love this calibration!
I started oral Minoxidil 6 months ago. Do not be surprised of your hair actually falls out/thins more the first few months. This happened to me and I almost stopped taking it. At the 3 month mark there was a noticeable growth, which has continued. At my 6 month check my dermatologist was very impressed with the growth. Wish she had told me what to expect from initial loss. I also had more of a post-menopausal male pattern loss. I'm also experiencing what the gentleman stressed regarding hard to style hair. Knowing the hair is growing and will take time helps me with frustration.
Any extra hair side effects in other parts of the body? How many milligrams did you start with and did you up if after a certain time or kept the same dosage? Thanks.
I’ve been using Fill-In fiber for a while and I love it for helping me not look bald in areas and helping between henna’s but Topix is too expensive. I found one called Fill-In Fiber on Amazon that is half the price and works just as nicely! The styling tips were AWESOME … just did them for the first time and my hair looks better. Thank you both!
Great collaboration!!!!!…Angie always has rocked it!…she stays true to herself and her channel!…definitely always does so much research!!!!…Justin you know how much I trust and love you!..,you two together are so solid!!!..would love to see another collaboration with you two!..two people that are solid humans!!!!!…thank you both so much!!!💜💜
Thank you so much for this video Justin . I was keep thinking either the shampoo or the hair color was causing the breakage and by watching this video I believe the way I blow dry my hair using the round brush and holding it too long at one place is doing the damage . I rarely use flat iron or curly iron thinking they damage may hair more than blow dryer .i watched the video twice and couldn’t figure out how to blow dry it to get volume and be less damaging. I would love to learn how to do it correctly . Thank you
Lost 75% of my hair from medication side effects. Devastating! It’s now coming back and I’m happily dealing with the curls and frizz that has been my nemesis since childhood.
Love this video. I Here’s what I noticed when I was biotin years ago. Angie is right it only made my hair grow longer it did not give me new growth. The only one benefiting from me taking biotin was my hairdresser bc I had to cut my hair more frequently.
InStyler! My best kept secret! Only because I've been called out for using such a niche tool. My colorist thinks I can learn how to round brush, but I'm like Angie and cannot get the technique. I only have two hands! This video is so informative. ❤
Amazing Guys!! Thank you So Much. 47 yr old hitting menopause with fine thin hair!! Appreciate All of You!! Congratulations on the Content Creator Event!!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for today’s video. It helped me tremendously especially the Toppik hair building fibers. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it in such detail. I follow Angie and I did enjoy her being your guest today. Thank you!
So great to see you guys do a video together! I bought the Irestore and I love it. It takes 12 min a day for several weeks but it covers my whole head and I've seen a good difference personally :)
loved this .. thank you!! !!! Biotin can affect your thyroid function .. I was taking biotin regularly for my skin, nails and hair and when I went for my regular blood-check I was showing signs of an overactive thyroid .. my doctor immediately asked me if I was taking biotin and when I told her that I had been taking one supplement daily for about 3 months, she told me to stop taking it. 6 weeks later my thyroid function was back to normal - so just be aware of the side-effects. It may not affect everyone, but it is something to note!!! xxx you also only need to take iron if your ferritin levels are low - only your GP can advise you on this.
Biotin does *not* affect your thyroid function---it can skew the results of the blood tests for thyroid function, making it appear your thyroid is off. Stop taking it about a week before you have blood drawn and you're fine.
I'd love to see you do a virtual makeover of Angie's hair, including a 'curve ball' alternative. Go wild with different lengths and colors! She's in a hair rut, which happens to most of us eventually.
Two of my faves! Thank you both for your expertise! I am a long time follower of both of you, and I greatly value the content each of you put out! So fun to have you film together!
This was great. I don't know if I totally agree with the laser vs led opinion though. I use the Celluma Restore and had nothing but great results. The shedding stopped almost immediately. I HAD hair loss due to hormones (graves disease and menopause) as well as hair loss due to covid. I was losing chunks. But now everything is better. I recently added their scalp serum as well switching to Necessaire Rosemary S&C. Thanks for Celluma and Necessaire I am now I hair care minimalist and loving the results.
Enjoyed this video very much. Justin you shared in a video months ago about a product that gives volume and texture to thin hair…please share with us again.
Great and informative video! One of the things you didn’t address is hair shedding, specifically from Semaglutide. Before any haters start, I took it for health reasons. I was 70 pounds overweight, and, between my the results of my bloodwork and my family history of cardiovascular disease, I had to do something. I lost the weight, but it took a toll on my hair. Whenever I brushed my hair, I swear I saw the hair equivalent of a small dog in my brush. Since I’m now off the meds, the shedding has stopped, but I’m left with much thinner hair. Fortunately, my hair was very thick to begin with, but it’s depressing to see my ponytail half as thick as it used to be. I know that weight loss in general can cause hair loss/shedding, but it can’t be a coincidence that, once I stopped the Semaglutide, the shedding stopped as well. I am much healthier, my bloodwork is in the normal range, and my doctor has taken me off of two meds! I’m going to implement your suggestions (except for the $$$$ laser) in hopes that the hair I shedded during this process comes back.
I use the brand Intelligent Minoxidil. It is very different from the usual brands. I can put in on after shampooing at night , throw in some Velcro rollers on top and wake up with great hair. The product actually thickens my hair at the roots like a root spray.
I’ve used the Costco minoxidil for 7 years now, every night in a circle rubbed right on my scalp (pull back hair in a little pony tail on top to expose the crown) and have never had greasiness or any problem styling. It has helped my alopecia along with Sprironolactone 25mg 2x/day, biotin, and collagen. Hair full and thick. Won’t stop any of this cuz it works and don’t mess with my hair, lol!
Excellent video that will help SO many people! You two are great!! And yes, having been a nurse for 44 years, iron supplements should only be used under the direction of a physician.
I have been using the hairband for years as well. Started using minoxidil in August and have had amazing results. Use the minoxidil foam. It doesn’t feel oily or dirty. Wish I had used this sooner because I have struggled with hair loss for years.
I use and like the iRestore Professional model and like it. It covers a good part of my scalp. I always put on makeup and just use the device when I apply makeup (eyes only). I only have to do this every other day for 25 minutes. It takes me longer than that to apply my makeup anyway.
Totally loved this discussion about hair loss. My mom has loss of hair but she’s 82. We’ll have to do our research. This was a wonderful content creators/ team effort and very informative. I went to Costco to look at the product from Costco and it says women not to use it and it states the reasons. I might look into it though and of course, I’ll do my research. @AngieHotandFlashy Costco sells Oribe but online. I’m not sure what line you use, but I did see the one I use. I’ll be comparing costs. ✨✨🌼🌼👏👏
Minoxidil worked wonders for me. I have no dye. I wash and style once a week. My hair s healthy and so full. Love the results. I do have a dermapen which Imwill introduce in my routine.
The reason vitamins for older women do not have iron is because they aren't menstruating any more, and it's known that iron can build up in the organs causing negative effects.
I've been loosing the front corners too in the last couple months. Great combo you two!! Thank you!!!Minoxidil must be used forever though. Once stopped hair will thin again. I've had clients experience that and my ex-husband.
Yes 1 I am 68 yrs old and have always had very fine blond hair very straight. I learned also to use a flat iron, starting at root & slightly curving all the way down. I call it giving it bend not curl. I also use L’oréal professionals mousse, a bit of heat protectant and hairspray to add more lift and hold. my hair is just longer than shoulder length with fringe bangs. I would love to see a video of styling with hair that is thinner at the neck and behind ears. I can’t cut mine too short on upper sides or looks like nothing there. Thanks for all the tips and encouragements.
I have been with Angie for almost 14 years. Love you both so much! Great two for one. Please thank BK Beauty (Lisa) for getting you all together. What a super idea.
Do you take progesterone in your HRT…I have heard recently from a dermatologist to be careful with progesterone as it can be a precursor to testosterone…so I’m on the fence due to my hair loss…wishing you well…
@@susansundaresan6297 I had been losing hair like crazy and it had pretty much stopped. Don't know if I can attribute to estradiol or progesterone supplementation (I do both) but likely estradiol.
My hair was falling out so much that my hairstylist told me to go straight to the store and buy some rogaine . I did what she suggested and also got on HRT. The last time i went in my stylist was pleased with all the new growth coming in. Before going on HRT I couldn’t miss a day using the rogaine or the next day there would be massive fallout, now on HRT i can miss several days with no issues, i try to not miss days, but it happens.
Hello both! ❤ What a nice collaboration between you two. I am 52, and my hair was thin all my life, but I used to have a lot of hair. Now, it's only half left what it used to be. I don't have any grey hair and I do not dye them either. I do not use any blow dryers or other heat gadgets. I just wash my hair twice a week and let them dry naturally. I used rosmarin oil for 6 months, massaging it into my scalp twice a day, but no results from that. Any extra massage or brushing of my hair makes them brake even more. I really do not know what to do anymore. When I wash my hair, I always found half lenght than my hair hair strains in my sink. My hairdresser does not understand what is happening with my hair. Well, she has full and curly hair, so I don't expect her to understand. I will look into this red light device. No stress involved here either. I sleep on my silk pillow with my silk scrunchy in my braid. I am taking separate supplements, but I don't think that biotin is in it. I will try that too.Any other advice? Thank you in advance! ❤❤❤
Thank you for the information. If you want to speak of the science you should also mention that Minoxidil grows hair until you stop using it and then you lose what you grew in, so you need to use it for life, this is what the science says! The other thing is there IS a big difference between anything you take topically vs orally which needs to be processed through your liver, especially important for people taking other medications.
very true! I had not thought about this as I take oral minoxidil and use it topically EVERY night, even back in my 40's not even losing any hair back then! ( I also take another prescription oral drug to grow hair!!!!! I did tons of research to find this! But my doctor started me on the absolute lowest dosage! She ups it little by little every 6 months, tho. So I don't know if it's working or not! ) But God taught me all too well about major hair loss (excluding the kind chemo brings on). My hair falls out so much that I can stand still in the sunlight and watch each hair fall onto my shoulders, floor, countertops, clothing I'm wearing, my food, ahhhh, what a B....! I brush my hair every which way before showering each night, the clean brush becomes filled within a few swipes! And in the shower, my drain becomes totally full! I lose so much more as I wash it twice with only purple shampoo since it's all white now. And it gets so yellow, I have to use 3 different brands and price points. Otherwise, it turns yellow every day. Tho I don't wash my hair every day, this is for the most part my routine. And if anyone has thin hair and uses conditioners, well all I can say is, "Bless your heart." Even as a young girl, I knew the difference between the feel of conditioner vs. no conditioner! Tho I do use a hair mask once or twice a week. But the nights I do not wash my hair and use Minoxidil... it never ever makes my hair get greasy! Only smart women also know to spray it on with the finest mister you can buy! I have a cheap one and it is incredibly great! I part my hair and spray in rows where I need more hair as one side is thicker than the other! But I have been blessed with a head full of gorgeous white hair. And the makeup color I wear on lips, cheeks, and a tad on eyes, well, I get stopped several times every day that I go out! Several times per day! This tells me I found the secret to looking my best and I'm only 64! I know I could look 10-15 years younger if I was a blonde. I know this, but I'm too gorgeously sleek and beautiful to ever go back to a dark brunette! Why would I? My husband LOVES MY LOOK AND SWEARS I'VE NEVER LOOKED PRETTIER! So, I CARE about what other women think, too, and it's fun to see the looks I get. I'm very happy but I can't get my hair to stop pouring out. Yet it obviously is keeping my head filled with more hair than I've ever had! I used to get lots of 50+ new baby hairs all across my forehead but I wash my face and put on my Minoxidil differently and wash my hands in a different pattern after putting it on to keep from washing my hands twice! I have my GP confused but she lets me do the investigating, and very carefully after days of her own research cautiously prescribes my meds for me. But a few months back I had several days of racing heart. She did an EKG on the spot but read perfectly. It went away very quickly. But you are so correct, as I should be much more careful about watching all the meds and supplements I take! As should everyone. Your comment really hit home! Thank you if you got this far!!!
@dannagordon9618 please tell me what you mean about using conditioner.... so we AREN'T meant to use conditioner? I'm confused. Please help. I have very fine and thing hair
Great Conversation & Two Questions! 1- My dear 15 year old son is showing signs of a receding hairline (my husband has advanced male pattern baldness). Is there any hope that Minoxidil could help him? And should he be using it at age 15? 2- Do you have to permanently keep Minoxidil in your regime? I know that with some hair growth products, stopping them can land you in a potentially worse situation than you when you started.
The hairmax band is great if you can afford $800. I’m sure that was somehow given to her. Lots of us don’t have that extra cash. Thank you for all the other advice
Oh! Late to the video but bring it to me about thinning hair, glad I tuned in. Yes! Hair is a big part about confidence. Thanks! so much Justin and your guest, very helpful. Justin thanks so for helping beautiful ladies with thin hair. I am so glad I am a subscriber.
Great tips BUT I didn’t get the correct way to blow dry to avoid the scenario of round brush and blow dryer causing too much heat. That’s what I do…wind hair around round bristle brush with one hand, then hold the blow dryer up against it with the other. Will you please clarify the correct way. Thanks.
Loved the video! I'm a hairdresser who is still trying to keep up andd also looking around the next corner of fashion. For all of you that want to cut Angies hair, just stop ,already! She is obviously comfortable and confident and isn't that what life is all about.
Great video. I have had fine, thin hair all my life. If I apply mousse too near the ends, the ends end up stringy and emphasize the thinness. Also mousse adds grip and I struggle with being able to get the round brush through my thin hair, it can tug it. Keep up the good work Justin.
Hi Justin, I've learned SO much from you, thank you! I recently purchased a dyson airwrap hoping it would be gentler on my fine, thin, frizzy hair. I have good hair days, but mostly bad. I got better results from the Revlon one step and a flat iron. I may try the Tymo airflow for beachy waves, I love Dionna's results!
How much do you love Angie!?! She's such a solid human. Go show her some love now! www.youtube.com/@AngieHotandFlashy

Angie is great - I love her a lot!
Angie is a wonderful source of information and inspiration for us older gals. Love her!
Love her and love this collab!
Loved filming with you Justin and hope this video will help so many women with thinning hair find solutions and feel more confident! xo ~a.
I totally agree!! It was so much fun and you gave such solid info! I’m sure this will help a ton of ladies! Looking forward to the next creator trip!!!
Thank you to both of you! Exceptional collaboration! 😊❤
Angie you are awesome but you are in a hair rut and you need a new do something like Justin’s wife. I have noticed the longer your hair is getting it seems to be dragging you down and making you look older like I said you just need a hair makeover.
@@cindystewart121 I think that would be fun to go through it with her. It may inspire other women her age (like me) to make a change as well.
Facts
💯💯💯 thought the same thing. Iron is not to be taken lightly. People do not understand this important fact
There are too many influencers
that give very unprofessional advice. People need to know they are opinions, not fact.
Good information. You’re right.
A diet of meat and vegetables with plenty of omega 3 foods, avoiding processed foods and sugar is what made my hair the healthiest.
and you didn't need a 1hr video platform to give good info to us either - thank you! XO)
A diet of animal food no veggies made my hair regrow and shine 😅
@@DebbieTDP animal food is veggie. They’re only like seven animals that don’t eat vegetables🌱🌏❤️.
@@dlocke1966 so what?
We're not made to eat plants. Let animals eat these.
Easy as that.
Be careful with the iron supplementation. Make sure you are deficient, because many women who are post-menopausal actually have too much iron and it can be very dangerous. Donating blood regularly is the way to control it if you have this issue.
My hair is in the best condition ever since I quit coloring it. Shiny and thicker.
Agree. The quality of my hair is so healthy, shiny and so easy to maintain.love love my hair
My low thyroid had my hair falling out in handfuls. Once I got on medication, it helped so much!
I'm so glad to hear that! Thyroid is a huge player!
My thyroid and parathyroid were removed in 2007 so can these products and her low level laser light still be as effective?
My thyroid gland was removed in 2012 and I've had hair thinning weight gain and in general overall low energy. Doctors have changed my meds every year. Nothing has helped much.
Same. Medicine stopped it from falling out so much but waiting for new hair to come in
So will the low level laser light still help even without a thyroid?
Great video, Justin and Angie!
At 61, I've had many cycles of hair thinning. Just a note of caution on Minoxidil...many years ago I used the 2% Rogaine for a while and ended up going to a cardiologist for bad heart palpitations. Turned out the Minoxidil was lowering my already low blood pressure and creating my heart issues.
Thanks for all the tips and tricks!
Oh wow!
Thanks for letting us all know - and thanks for watching Dee. Glad you're ok.
Yep that happened to me too, I seen a cardiologist because of palpitations, after some test, he said to stop the minoxidil, palpitations stopped 😊
Good to hear you found your routine! Thank you for watching
Biotin also distorts blood test results for thyroid function. Not a lot of research to support it. Stay away.
I'm in the same situation, but I'm still with him. I've put up with him for 35 years. I'm in my 60s, and we can't afford to live apart.
I was always told if you are over 50 not to take iron because you don't need it after menopause.
Get a blood test for iron. Many women, especially thyroid patients, are low on iron if they don’t supplement.
Our hair is our “shining glory”. That’s why hair is so important to women. Thanks for this info.
You're welcome, thanks for your support.
Crowning glory
Yep, your cloths and makeup can be perfect, but if your hair looks like crap you look like crap
'You don't feel like you anymore' Bingo! That is why we keep trying more things to look good. It's not just about pretty, it's about still feeling like ourselves.
She is so correct, I cry every time I see my hair its horrid
Me too. My hair was ruined by chemo. Never grew back properly
That was me three days ago. I don't even look like myself. I suffer from depression I went from wearing makeup and styling my hair every day
to not looking in the mirror.
OMG. My OG RUclipsr and the only hairstylist I watch and trust in the same room talking. This is so cool! Thanks so much for the collab!
You're so welcome - thanks for watching.
Oh my gosh! Fun video but Justin I was so ready for you to cut her hair. Angie he is such a a talent! Girl you missed an opportunity.
I agree. I wish he had at least styled her hair. I would live him doing mine. A missed opportunity for sure
Please cut her hair!!!
I kept hoping too that he would trim ends and give her a better style!
YES CUT THE HAIR ANGIE!
Me too!
Save your money and do not waste it on red light machines, vitamins, and other stuff that will just make a hole in your pocket.
which pen brand are you using? thanks for this comment by the way
What dermapen did you get?
Korabeauticals, theirs needles are currently the thinnest in the market as far as I know
what's your routine exactly?
1.5mm once a week, never missed a treatment since I started.
I have the hair max laser headband and love it. 3 years in and very pleased. Nothing else worked.
I'm 78 and will never go gray! Even my stylist agrees with me that my coloring will not look good with gray.
Thanks for watching!
@@trisha3338 But it’s NOT in your stylist’s best interest to tell you to go grey or tell you it would look good as they lose a lot of money!😂
@sweetpeace5 believe ne, I chose to not go gray WAY before I asked for her opinion. She is also an old friend 😊
So glad you had Angie on, I love watching her videos. Also thanks for all the tips/tricks.
This collaboration was Awesome! I want to see Justin do Angie’s hair❤️❤️
Thank you
Best combo of RUclips influencers there is- both powerhouses of accurate and pertinent information!! Ty both😊
Yes! Love Angie! I’ve been following her channel for 6 years! She just keeps he getting finer…thanks for collaborating with her, Justin!
That's awesome! Thanks for supporting both our channels, Melissa, I appreciate you
Love Angie’s more scientific approach- had found Justin last year- soooo great to see my favourites colab-ing!
Love you too !😊
Yes, she's super easy to listen to and backs everything up with research. She rocks. Thank you for your support ❤
I have been using men’s Rogain topical. Had no idea there was an oral. Just made appointment. Thank you.
This was excellent I learned so much and discovered two things I have been doing that have been harming my hair thank you both so much!!!!
First beauty RUclipsr I ever watched is Angie! She introduced me to doing my eyeshadow in the modern era (she and I are exactly the same age).
I’ve done everything mentioned & more.
Laser hat, minoxidil, oral minoxidal, Viviscal Pro, Dutesteride & Hair/Skin/Nail vitamins
Stress, genetics, illness, anesthesia, nutrition …all matter. Its a full-time job for not much in return!
Awesome collaboration. I implemented a few of those great tips today. What a difference those tips make. Thanks!
Great to know that's working for you. Thanks for your support Kathy!
You are fine. I have been using it every night, and i wash my hair twice a week. It does not build up. I also have an irestore and I do no believe prior minoxidal application is any better. Also i prefer the liqued over the foam.
I feel like if my hair doesn't look good, i dont look good. And a great hair day compensates for other things that may be off.
I think you're SO spot on! I also think you're not alone!
100%! That has always been my theory.
1000%
Absolutely 😊
For sure!!
Thank you having Angie in your show! It was a helpful to watch on how to keep hair healthy.
Gosh the only other RUclipsr I’ve followed for years! Both of you together how wonderful.
Thanks for watching!
I have watched Angie for years and love her!!! So great you got to sit down with her!
great video.
Thanks for watching the channel Nanci. Glad you've found some remedies to your hair loss. Give it time!
Great video. I’m glad you said to get blood levels checked. Vitamins and supplements are not one size fits all and too much can be as bad as not enough.
Some good tips, but for the average person, $800 for a laser band is a little much.
Beauty Beyond 40 is the device queen and often has discounts for every type of beauty device. She's tried them all. Great info on her channel
Watch for sales online. I’ve seen Costco carry it and it was on sale for under $400 at one point.
I did some girl math…vitamins, potions and lotions vs a one time purchase. $600 3 years ago..so it has cost $200 a year at this point. High priced vitamins like like viviscal and Vegamor are abt 80 a month. (I do use collagen powder daily tho. Hoping it’s helping hair, skin and joints.)
it's £850 in england so well over a grand with conversion
Laser diodes caps are expensive but work
I love Angie and have watched her for years!
Great collaboration!!!!!…Angie always has rocked it!…she stays true to herself and her channel!…definitely always does so much research!!!!…Justin you know how much I trust and love you!..,you two together are so solid!!!..would love to see another collaboration with you two!..two people that are solid humans!!!!!…thank you both so much!!!💜💜
You're so welcome, Linda! We had a blast!
She rocks, thanks for your support, Linda!
Here’s what I noticed when I was biotin years ago.
Rosemary oil, castor oil, onces a week egg wash and supplements.
ALL these have worked for me great: ALSO HRT!!
It's the HRT working, not the other potions.
Thank you so much for today’s video. It helped me tremendously especially the Toppik hair building fibers. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it in such detail. I follow Angie and I did enjoy her being your guest today. Thank you!
I missed the link for this and id like the applicator
So great to see you guys do a video together! I bought the Irestore and I love it. It takes 12 min a day for several weeks but it covers my whole head and I've seen a good difference personally
:)
Great that it takes you so little time! Every one is different, glad the IRestore works for you! Thanks for watching, Kara
loved this .. thank you!!
This could be a good video idea - I'll ask her. Thanks for the suggestion!
great suggestion
Yes please give her a sweet haircut, she would look even more put together and show her beauty even more!!
A lot of useful tips and reminders of what I've heard before for the things that work!

Thank you! She's awesome right! I'm so glad Could help get her back on your radar.
Two of my faves! Thank you both for your expertise! I am a long time follower of both of you, and I greatly value the content each of you put out! So fun to have you film together!
Great collaboration! I experienced traction alopecia on my temples from wearing sun visors daily for several years. Now I wear hats only!
Angie is an awesome human, thanks for watching. Great to hear you figured out the hair loss on your temples
That is coming soon, sign up to my newsletter to hear about it first: bit.ly/HickoxNewsletter
This is a great tip, thanks for sharing
I just started using 5% rogaine and it makes my fine, thin hair look much fuller and not dirty at all.
That's awesome! SO glad to hear it's working so well for you!
I've used minoxidil for over twenty years and am afraid to stop. Great results.
Excellent video that will help SO many people! You two are great!!
And yes, having been a nurse for 44 years, iron supplements should only be used under the direction of a physician.
was hoping you would do something with her hair.
Justin, please tell us more about your gel-mousse product!
Justin is so incredibly knowledgeable and trustworthy. Imo. 😊 I love Angie too. Thanks for this. ❤
Thank you so much for your support! Angie rocks!
I have been using the hairband for years as well. Started using minoxidil in August and have had amazing results. Use the minoxidil foam. It doesn’t feel oily or dirty. Wish I had used this sooner because I have struggled with hair loss for years.
You have to use this for life, correct? That's my only hesitantcy
This is like my dream come true both my favorite RUclipsrs together❤❤❤❤❤ helping us with our hair
💯 ❤❤❤
That’s why they say clearly to get your blood checked! Omg. Helllooo?!?
She is just being helpful too.. appreciate eachother please❤
I've been loosing the front corners too in the last couple months. Great combo you two!! Thank you!!!Minoxidil must be used forever though. Once stopped hair will thin again. I've had clients experience that and my ex-husband.
Why would anyone stop using it if it was working?
@@selectiveoutrage6617 - because they think that once the hair has grown back in , then it will stay that way. That’s not the case.
@@selectiveoutrage6617 probably money. Or maybe time, or the feeling of the hair after using it…
You both know your stuff , and are trusted RUclipsrs .
Yes!! Two of my favorites. What a nice little surprise!
I have been with Angie for almost 14 years. Love you both so much! Great two for one. Please thank BK Beauty (Lisa) for getting you all together. What a super idea.
It was a blast. Thanks for watching!
Getting on HRT has really slowed the hair thinning for me! I hardly have any falling out in the shower any more!
Get a bloodwork panel with hormones & thuroid done
Thank you for the information. If you want to speak of the science you should also mention that Minoxidil grows hair until you stop using it and then you lose what you grew in, so you need to use it for life, this is what the science says! The other thing is there IS a big difference between anything you take topically vs orally which needs to be processed through your liver, especially important for people taking other medications.
i appreciate your input, thanks
The combination of you both was gold!
Wow! Thank you so much! It was such a fun video to film. Angie is such a good human!
From the Netherlands, i agree :D Two beautiful people, Thank you for this video
I love it when my favs collaborate! Justin + Angie = the how and the why. The perfect combination of teachers!
Thanks for your support, Heather!
The hairmax band is great if you can afford $800. I’m sure that was somehow given to her. Lots of us don’t have that extra cash. Thank you for all the other advice
Thank you. I practically fainted when I looked up the price. That's ridiculous.
Thanks for saving me the time to research…yea, nope, that’s way to much, so sad because I wonder what the price really is to manufacture this product.
The caps are over 1000 to 2000
And the irony is that Angie can probably easily afford it with how much she probably makes on YT
£850 in england so in dollars over a GRAND
Thank you.. indeed I need to change some of my routine, your both spot on!
Love Angie.. thanks again ~
❤😊
Justin if you start Minoxidil and then stop will the hair you have grown fall out?
I bought the iRestore and have used it for 3 years with no results . I am going to try the hairmax. Thank you, Angie
Angie is 1000% correct about losing hair and self esteem. I’m 68 and over the past two years I don’t even recognize my hair and it’s very depressing!!
Try biotin for hair growth. It worked for me.
❤❤❤
I one thousand percent agree!
@jadedoptimist6364 A friend had good results with biotin any specific brand?
This is a really fun and informative conversation between two RUclips greats! I truly enjoyed this. Thank you, Angie and Justin!
Thank you so much for your support Diane!
Oh! Late to the video but bring it to me about thinning hair, glad I tuned in. Yes! Hair is a big part about confidence. Thanks! so much Justin and your guest, very helpful. Justin thanks so for helping beautiful ladies with thin hair. I am so glad I am a subscriber.
Thank you so much for watching!
What a great collab… so honest on both parts. Omgosh I thought I was the only one where color got stuck on my nose pads 😂
You are not alone!
happened to me but i didn't realise it was from my head
Great tips BUT I didn’t get the correct way to blow dry to avoid the scenario of round brush and blow dryer causing too much heat. That’s what I do…wind hair around round bristle brush with one hand, then hold the blow dryer up against it with the other. Will you please clarify the correct way. Thanks.
Loved the video! I'm a hairdresser who is still trying to keep up andd also looking around the next corner of fashion. For all of you that want to cut Angies hair, just stop ,already! She is obviously comfortable and confident and isn't that what life is all about.
Es schaut ja auch so gut aus, vor allem so natürlich und es passt ihr hervorragend
This video was super helpful! I watch you both so this collaboration was incredible. Thank you for all the helpful tips!
Hey! Thank you so much! I'm glad to hear I can help. Using an iron will definitely get the best results on frizz because of the heat delivery.
What!? Two of my favorite RUclipsrs collaborating in one video? Awesome!!!!
Too many deleted comments but why? Great interview with two superstars
