Great cut!!! If you don't want to tell your stylist to "texturize" because it means so many things, what WOULD you tell them in order to get a cut like this? My hair is fine, thin, and graying but not gray - however, they gray hairs (maybe 20%) are much coarser than my original hair, making it harder to style. I do use a flat iron and am always torn on the heat - do I turn it to high heat to make the grays cooperate, or should I keep the heat low to prevent additional frizziness and breakage?
Also, I like the idea of telling the stylist not to layer the sides. It's hard to say things like that to your stylist though - even the nicest stylists usually react like you are telling them how to do their job. :( I also would have loved to see more about how you created the unconnected pieces in the front. I have similar pieces, but because the hair is more gray in that area, they tend to be more frizzy and to look uneven.
I would love for you to do a follow with her when she returns from her PCT adventure and see how the cut held up and get the pros and cons from her. I wish every stylist asked as many questions as Justin. Well done!

Since you do a lot of videos on fine, thin hair…it would be nice to do a video with someone who has fine thin hair, and baby hairs. Thank you for your tips and videos! I have started doing some things you suggest (for my fine thin hair) and they work. My struggle is baby hairs. I tend to pull my hair back behind my ear or else it looks funny as my baby hairs pop out. Also, I don’t ever see you teasing hair. Is that the thing of the past? I don’t really do it, but so many people do…

Justin, I was in awe as you PERFECTLY described my bob haircut bad experiences 😢 I have fine hair and I'm to the point that I just do one length to avoid that all but still hate my hair! What to do in NH? I've explained this all to hairdressers but I'm have a hard time finding anyone that has the ability.
I think your client was very brave woman and she looks fantastic! I also have fine thin straight hair and always feel I cannot layer it let alone texurize. I had a bob once in my life and felt like the little Dutch boy.

She looks so much younger and more styled with her hair cut. The long straight didn’t show off her features as the new bob does. Here in New England MANY older women wear their hair long, gray and parted down the middle and it is soooo unflattering.

She has a great facial structure so she’d look great no matter what. A Bob is universal as well as normally in style in some shape or form. I appreciate you not being disparaging regarding a woman’s choice to go natural ie gray. A side & middle part gives a different look for me with thin, fine & white hair.
Amazing transformation! I especially liked the explanation of the layering for fine hair. I have fine straight hair and some layering I've had in the past looked horrible, but if there's no layering, it just lays flat. Thanks again for your wonderful videos! Hope you enjoyed Texas this week!

What's the difference between texturizing the ends and point cutting?
Great question. Point cutting is technically a way of texturizing the ends but it’s a bit less aggressive. However, it can also leave a choppy look where using texturizing shears on the ends tends to blend things better. I actually point cut all layering I do, then go through after the hairstyle I’d dry and use texturizing shears to texturize the ends again to ensure there’s no extra bulk or choppiness left behind from the point cutting.

Yeah..I hear ya! I have tape in extensions to help with a LITTLE more volume not length! My stylist watches for damage..says they protect my hair, no breakage.
@@PineGeri Seems to me tape in extensions do more damage than clip ons since you can remove them every night.
@@selectiveoutrage6617 not really. When removed the adhesive is dissolved by a formula so they just slip off. Clip ins … try hiding them when the wind blows. And they tug on the roots. Invisible tape ins are so easy, lightweight and are so easily blended with real hair. Most ladies want length, I just wanted a slight increase in volume.
Love your content! I'm 41, went to a layered bob recently. So many compliments on it. I've never had short hair before and I worried it would look "Mum". I add gentle beach waves, that's it. It's lifted my face, taken years off me, dries quickly and is superb in our humid north Australian hot summers. Massive short hair fan❤
I feel that gray hair should look sharp. It’s less forgiving if you wear it disheveled or in a bun. That cut was awesome!!

I have a similar cut and LOVE IT! It’s versatile - as Justin points out - AND grows out beautifully. So my hair length goes from long to chin’ish bob every year! Maybe 2 a year. And it keeps things fresh and interesting. She looks younger for sure!!! 🎉
