- Take your first steps in air-to-air combat in the Mirage 2000C by learning about the Matra R.550 Magic II missile. Develop an understanding of its parameters, employment, search modes, and use of the radar to provide assistance when performing interception, combat air patrol or air combat manoeuvres.
This tutorial takes place on the Syria map in DCS World.
Reiver uses the English variant of the Mirage 2000C cockpit, because he is an uneducated barbarian.
Reiver is not a hardcore milsim-er - he just likes playing the game well - if you're looking for something more authentic, please consult the flight manual.

I completed my combat readiness training and i have become a real MASTER of this flying triangle at this point! Well maybe not a master but i can do literally everything, correctly employing the radar and every type of weapons. Already said that but your tutorials are simply top quality. Thank you so much.

There is a catch on the whole cooling process, if you equip the DM2 missile launch detection you have only 35m of coolant! it Uses the same amount as the missile, this got me a few times on longer PVE missions. Better to keep both off until you are close to your objectives.

You can also reverse-lock the radar onto a Magic track. The wide mode can be used as a makeshift IRST, this combo works quite well

Nah, I'm not that skilled! I wouldn't be surprised if there was a mod but I'm not aware of one.
Dunno if too late for this comment to show, but I'm running into an issue I can't quite work out. After firing a 530 at a target if I click on the Magic on the weapons panel, my HUD gets stuck in Nav mode and can't fire.

I've not encountered that. Do you mean pressing the MAG button on the PCA panel (to change it to MAV) when you are guiding a 530D in the air?
@@reiver1-1 Nope, I'm still learning so I set up a simple dogfight mission between myself and a couple MIG 29s, and I can reliably shoot one down with the 530s and after that I turn in to face the other with the Magics, but when I press the MAG button on the PCA the S shows up but no P, and it won't let me leave the basic navigation HUD. Even pressing WeaponSystemsCMD both forward and Aft and depressing it does nothing.

Magics aren't selected using the button marked MAG on the PCA. They can only be accessed by placing the CNM switch on the HOTAS controls to the M position.
The button on the PCA only changes how the Magics perform their background search.
